For me it’s enough to go for 1 hr jog + Calisthenics in the park a couple of times a week, plus whatever other sport I do for fun such as rock climbing and ice skating!

A suggestion when playing beat saber… go wild!
Act like you’re dancing, jump to the beat, do some stylish move, let loose to the music, really move every part of your body to the beat and just dance it’s okay if you end up missing some of the box just have fun and really go wild, you’ll burn more calories and build up your stamina.
I haven’t done any research or experiment on this sort of play, its just what I think..

I got VR because of the game VRChat but then I found the game beatsaber on steam and I remembered that I always watched videos on youtube about it so I tried it out and its so mindblowing. I’m playing it now for longer and I have to say, if you play on expert or expert + and you are doing your best the whole time it is soooo hard:D For me it is I’m dancing like 5 times a week but beatsaber is making me more sweat in a shorter period of time than some of the hardest dances I dance xD I really really love it:)

Fitbit is not always cheaper option. My Fitbit was 250.00 and is waterproof with swimming option as excercise. It does everything your apple watch does plus plus. But there are cheaper options. Great video Fitty!!:)

I’ve been looking for a way to keep fit without going outside. Something that was fun, entertaining, and challenging. Beat Saber ticks all those boxes. You can customize it to fit your style and that’s a massive bonus. I challenge myself to climb the leader board, I move, I do squats, slide from side to side. I’m out of breath and work up a sweat. I enjoy it so much that I now work out every morning and before going to bed. I’ve tried supernatural but you cannot modify it and I understand why, you’re being led, and that works for some. I’ve started to see the results, after two days I’ve dropped 4 pounds.
I was having fun and decided to do a one punch man training with an extreme diet for a month the results where great I lost around 30kg. I was 110kg before starting so it was beneficial, but just doing the same routine everyday made me bored. I tried to do new stuff each day to keep myself training, but nothing worked.
So I started eating again because I really felt excited. I regret it now cause I’m back to 110kg. I tried VR I can play it up to 2-3 hrs. Although I didn’t lose alott it was way fun than training for a month.
Namaste. I made homemade apple cider vinegar a month back. I put the vinegar in a small jar a few days back taking out the apple pieces. I see it today a thin layer of white fungus. I have cleared it. Pl tell me if I can use the apple cider vinegar or throw it. Thanks

When I had a working treadmill, I would watch star trek TNG and DS9 (i became a late fan of Star trek, so being that far behind meant I made a plan of only watching star trek while on the treadmill. I had run from mid season 2 of TNG til the end of DS9 and then a season and a half of Voyager) But then my netflix acc ran out so trying to find something I could watch while running was difficult since I needed something interesting enough to forget I was exercising, but not so interesting that I needed to super focus on the show. And this was an old Treadmill I’ve had for over a decade, so at some point before I decided to get netflix again, it had met it’s end (theory is it got knocked around while moving)

I traded my Switch about a year ago for an oculus headset and Beat Saber was the main reason for it. I’m trying to get myself into a routine of playing during the week for as long as my arms hold out, which right now is about 30-60 minutes depending on which Expert tracks I play, and it’s easily the most fun I’ve had attempting to lose weight.
EDIT: If you can, play a version that can load custom tracks. Being able to play through tracks that you actually like makes it so much more fun:D
+1 for using phone as a step counter. Sure, I may miss some steps here and there but it gives me a good general indication. I also use Strava on my phone for mountain bike rides so it does everything I need.
Thrill of the fight is an insane work out. I’m still sore from playing and I regularly lift weights. 45 minutes of full throttle airboxing is tough. Add a weight vest and wrist weights.

Things I use now:
* weighing scale which I use once a week
* the default alarm app which has a timer in it. I use this to time the rests between sets
* a note and a pen to keep track of the sets & reps. When your goal is to do 100 pushups, it’s easy to lose count
Things I’m not going to bother with anymore:
* measuring tape
* timer apps and calorie counting apps, “food diaries”
And thank god I didn’t buy into the fad of counting steps with a watch. I like to finish my workouts in one go and don’t like to think about them for the rest of the day.

I’m sold. Garmins’ body battery and stress functions are worth it alone. Those two functions together can even help you twig to foods you don’t tolerate well! I did use my phone for steps (built into the OS on some phones). While I’d love all the functions of a bigger tracker, a small and comfortable one fits my use case better. I’ll probably use the Vivosmart 4 until it falls off my wrist or a better (small) one comes along.

Ah! I’d missed this one….I wanted to have your thoughts on those things. Well, let me add my 2 cents on this. I’ve had a Fitbit Blaze for almost a year now. The only thing is really use it for nowadays is to keep track of my workouts and well…I figure a simple sheet of paper could do the job so…Do I regret it? No because I had fun with it for a while and it also kinda is a smartwatch and I got it for half price. Now will I replace it? The answer is a definite no for me for the reason mentionned above. Again, I’m talking about MY personal use of this thingy. I understand some people might find step counting or calorie counting interesting but as far as I’m concerned, this was the first and it’s gonna be the last fitness tracker.
2 weeks ago I got one from fitbit the watch ionic or so…the main benefit I see is that on bad days…it’s helping me to take action and follow through. like you said…I take the information and try to improve.
the calories number burned are B.S. yesterday I had a brutal labor work day (+41.000 steps and the app showed me almost 8k calories burned. lol dream on.
even so I truly like to have the sleep data… since getting it I monitor my sleep daily and saw that I got in my first week 4-6hours sleep per night with lots of waking up. now second week I improved the duration and I wake up little bit less per night.

100% agree with everything you said. I use a Fitbit Surge and where I find it particularly helpful is to monitor ‘general’ variations/progressions/trends in my animal flow/movement workouts. I can look at my trends in duration, average heart rate etc, and kcals burned (based on HR over time). It combines all this with my step-based NEAT and I’ve found this helpful in the past for making better estimations of kcal needs depending on whether trying to achieve a surplus or create a deficit.
What’s your views on ab-training? Sould they be done at all? Should they be done after every workout? Should they be done daily? Should you spend a lot of time on abs?

I just got an Amazfit Pace mostly for its GPS functions for my outdoor runs and limited music storage (so I can go running without lugging around my phone). But it also has heart rate tracking and pedometer functions. I didn’t think I’d use it the fitness tracking features, but I tried it anyway. So far, it’s given me a good overall snapshot of my general fitness, and I learned that I definitely need to get up and move more during my work day.
I’m thinking for getting over a year long now. I dont want to take my phone everywhere, especially when I’m going to run (Km, time,…)

Beat saber warriors expert plus and wait till it gets to the guitar solo part of the song. Then u guys will know what I’m talking about I can usually go for 3 hrs on beat saber I mean I could go longer I just get a headache though which really annoys me And nice vid btw
Wonderfully presented. I HATE going to the gym. The issue of being motivated to leave the house and then once there, i would experience the same soul crushing treadmill walk. The gym is not for everyone. It is not an environment for everyone no matter how inviting it is. Some people just cannot enjoy the experience. There are many videos proving VR=weight loss and some research is picking up on it as well.

I own a TomTom Spark 3. It measures quite a bit of information, but as was said, it’s what you do with that information that makes it worthwhile or not. Unless you use it in conjunction with another app or program, i don’t believe it is any more useful than a cell phone by itself.
Ive been meaning to get a headset to check out beat saber,. Only reason I havent was cause of the price but I think I will now that ive got some extra money over the holidays. Thats also my biggest complaint with exercising in general. Its just so boring. Every time I do it I wish I was doing something else so I just stop altogether.
I had a fit bit for about 2 months until I came to a conlusion..I am very good at doing what my body tells me and I didn’t need one. But I will say it helped ALOT at first since I was just beginning my journey. So I will say they serve their purpose!

Dude I want to get beat saber so bad; I’m currently in the process of saving up for a vr headset. Also for cheap options as well, if you have a kinect for the 360 lying around you can use that for full body tracking but you cant turn around with it, only 90 degrees. But if you use it just for things like beatsaber where you dont really need to turn around quickly, it might be a money saver.
Yeah cardio is one of the roughest exercises I’ve ever done especially when starting out, but it’s just making those 20 30 minutes entertaining. The way I handle it is 2 miles everyday for 20 mins (im a gym rat lol). Pull out your favorite action anime to hype up with (Gate, Fire Force, MHA or One Piece gets me hyped usually) and you forget you’re even running lol. Now you face the biggest problem of having to stock up on anime to watch xD.

Ah, truly great information. I am 68, which is very old for most people, and I have bad knees, I am actually waiting to have knee surgery. I use to lift weights, I just love doing this, but now because of my joints, I really can’t do that. I can’t use a treadmill, I can’t use an elliptical, so I was getting really depressed over not being able to exercise. But then I found aquatic exercise at my local YMCA, and this form of exercise, I believe almost anyone can do. And it has changed my life. Since I started doing this exercise, and dieting I have lost over 100 lbs. I am truly embarrassed that I allowed myself to get out of shape, but even though I had this much fat, I could still do the aquatics. After two years of exercising, dieting, medical oversight, Fitness Pal, to keep track of my exercise and especially my food intake, I have finally lost enough weight so I can now have surgery on my knee. I feel wonderful at my age, and I am slowly adding more and more activity to my everyday existence, which then makes me sleeping and everything else I do just that much better. I will play around with what you said here today. I love my simple Garmin HR, it is very inexpensive compared to others, the battery last for days, and it is water proof, so I wear it when I doing my exercise. The thing I have noticed about the Garmin is they just keep updated the software. I have gone from version 3.2 to now 4.2. It is small, light weight, and connects to my LG V20 Android phone without issues, via Bluetooth. Garmin just up graded their app software also, so it is more colorful and easier to use. I doubt I will ever get back to leg pressing 300 lbs., but I am truly happy with my progress and over all health at my present age. Funny, but there are only a few men in the pool, most of the people are females, which saddens me because I feel that a lot of men might feel that if they aren’t lifting then it isn’t something they can do. I am impressed with the shape you are in, and that you are so motivated. Thanks for this video, it again was inspiring.

Haha DDR gang. Isn’t it amazing how DDR translates to every other rythm game? I played DDR for so long and at such an high level back then, that now I just pick up games like this in a flash.
Within an hour of playing beat saber for the first time I got to expert difficulty. And honestly, that wasn’t a great idea since I am really out of shape now and it had me sweating like a pig.
Now I need to buy some replacement foam for my googles, cuz I will need to wash them regularly now.
For rythm game nerds like me that need to lose a few pounds, this game is godsend. Too bad the $500 pricetag is attached to it. But then again, a good beatmania controller or a nice metal DDR pad were always really expensive as well.

I’m an 18 year old malebeen playing beat saber for about a year now. I’m good enough at the game, that im able to literally burn 1500 calories A DAY! for about 2 hours a day (granted I’m a huge VR nerd and quarantine has kept me busy! ITS WORTH EVERY PENNY!

I actually bought a 2nd psvr headset just to play beat saber over the lockdown. My other unit was in another location and I started going crazy without it. I literally purchased a second one to get back into beat saber, nothing else just beat saber. This game is so amazing…..I was getting so fat without it lol but now I am back on track thank god. I am starting to practice expert plus and turning into a sweaty mess after 5 mins play. its so hard but do much god damn fun.
So I’ve been playing beat saber since it came out and I’m now in the top 0.25% in the world I play expert+ songs with fast mode and 200% speed. I can usually maintain this for about an hour or two and keep my heart rate at around 180-210bpm the entire time. I eat like shit but doing this has made it so I don’t gain weight, if i eat healthy i can lose a 3-5 pounds/week.(i’ve done it) Went from 250 200lbs in 2.5 months, you have to remember tho i was gaining a lot of muscle doing this too. Now to be clear idk if maintaining a heart rate that high for that long is safe.
Here are the tips:
1. Drink lots of water! 3 litres of water a day (especially if your exercising)
2. Sleep 7-9 hours per day! (or more)
3. Eat lots of nutrient rich vegetables! Like kale, zucchini, sweet potatoes (those are just some options, all vegetables have benefits)
4. Eat out less (restaurants usually have high sodium foods and bigger portions)
5. Avoid eating processed food
6. Eat food that makes you feel full (food high in healthy fat and fibre)
7. Portion controlprep your meals before hand so you eat the right amount!
8. Do some sort of cardioHIIT cardio is very good to lose weight without loosing muscles! Choose your favourite though ☺️
9. Try resistance training! (It won’t make you bulky unless you are in a calorie surplus)
10. Clean and tidy up your house! It burns calories and gets your house clean!

So, I got Beat Saber since I have severe osteoarthritis in both of my knees, and I had to quit going to Crossfit since it was doing so much damage to my joints. I needed something super low impact, but fast enough cardio to get my heart rate up. At this point I burn about 700 calories an hour playing at Expert/Expert+ levels of custom modded songs. This is with breaks in between each song. The songs that come pre-loaded in the game (and the licensed songs packs like Green Day/Panic at the Disco) are garbage. So, I never recommend Beat Saber for the PSVR since it cannot be modded for custom songs/maps. If you want to lose weight at it though my suggestion would be first of all fix your diet, then turn on the ‘No Fail’ mod and don’t worry about your high scores. Just have fun, and feel like a BAMF Jedi in the process.

This video would need so much more attention. I’m a statistician myself, and yes, all the numbers are cool and everything. But really, for a non-medical usecase, it does not matter if the numbers are +/-10% off. The numbers actually do not matter by themselves. The user does not want them. The user wants advice: Am I working out enough? Should I go for another walk today? How healthy am I compared to other people of my age? And that’s what fitness trackers should provide to be actually useful.

1. I try to drink 8 glasses of water per day and it really helps!
2. I try to go to bed around 9pm every night so I can wake up at 5:30am to work out
3. I try to eat vegetables 2-3 times per day!! Especially my greens
4. Ever since I started my weight loss journey, I definitely try to eat less and if I do I order a salad or something light
5. I’ve given up ALL processed food b/c I want to avoid the added fat
6. I try to steer clear of pasta b/c I tend to overeat b/c carbs don’t make me feel full
7. I always measure out my food before I eat to make sure I’m not eating too much or too little
8. I do your workouts all the time and I love getting my sweat on

I’ve only had 2 and a half hours of exerise this week. I do almost an hour or more of walking 5 days of the week to get to and from work as well, also sometimes during my breaks.. Mainly walking is not enough though, the rest of the body needs attention too! Because of your informative videos however I did a test on myself of drinking only water for 5 days in a row and the water in my retention in my legs dropped dramatically! I switched again to black coffee, herbal tea and water that I was having before, for experimenting the differences, my legs have started to swell again. Water is the drink of the heavens!
I use xiaomi mi band 2. The main plus is that it needs recharging only once a month. Only thing that watches can reliably measure are the steps and that is what xiaomi does. The watch is great during night, but unreadable under direct sunshine. It is light and waterproof one washingmashine cycle no problem:-D

Apple Watch has been a huge help. “closing your circles” of standing each hour, general calorie burn and 30 minutes of exercise every day is motivating, the heart rate detector is far more accurate and is a good indicator of general health. The GPS tracks outdoor exercise. You get rewarded for achieving goals per day/week/month and year so it has motivated me a lot in the long term too. I have used others such as Garmin or Jawbone UP, but nothing supported my training like this.

I use the app called Sleep Watch! It’s very accurate in my opinion. I have it on my phone but it’s set up with my Apple Watch so that I’m able to fall asleep with it (that doesn’t bother me much) and it gives me a report of my sleeping through the night and how I’m doing with my goals ☺️

I have a shelf full of fitness monitors from chasing performance and weight loss through technology. If you want to track heart rate get a watch with a second hand and learn to find your carotid artery. Also, don’t trust wrist worn GPS as being all that accurate either.
I think those who get a similar device should continue with their normal daily activitities for about a week, so they can get a good estimate of what they are doing. Then devise a plan from there. A simple 10% increase in activity, for a whole year, can make a lot of difference.

I have been playing Beat Saber (and other games) as my main source of exercise for the last year… Not only have I lost 110lbs, I have better coordination (still not great), but I’ve actually met so many great people through VR.
And, just an aside, if you’re on a budget you can even pick up a WMR headset for under $200 any day of the week.
I want to share sth with you. I’m studying in a high school now. My height is about one hundred sixty centimeters and weight is about 54-55 kilos. When I was in 8th grade, I didn’t care about food and ate lots of fast food. I just eat whatever I want and gain lost of kilos ( was 58 kilos ). When summer comes, I decided to go on a diet and lost 4 kilos. In whole summer, I nearly didn’t eat any chocolate or sth. But when the high school started, my desire to eat started again and ate more than in the summer. But there is a contradictoriness in my mind. I want to lose weight and look fit but at the same time, I wanna eat more and more…. I argue in my mind; one side in my mind says don’t extra food or chocolate and the other side says eat whatever you want as long as you are happy. For some days in a week, I can limit myself but the rest of the week I fail to myself. Sometimes I really need to someone to motivate me. I’m not having anorexia but I always have contradictoriness in my mind and can’t escape from it. If you take few minutes to read it and write some suggestions,you I would really appreciate. Thank you
