This is how I like to make my beans in the crockpot on low for 7-8hrs & I just use the Jiffy cornbread mix to make muffins.
It’s awesome that you can pass down recipes from your mother to someone totally random like me. I would have never known to pick for rocks and just yelled at Walmart everytime I bit one. Thanks for the help and great recipe. Also my family always did hot water corn bread, you don’t see it much anymore.
looks yummy you know im thinking pinto beans like real soon thanks for the video
I love this Crockpot Pinto Beans recipe! It is my go-to recipe when I am super busy and/or have not been grocery shopping for a while. I always seem to have dried pinto beans the the spices for this recipe on hand. Pinto beans go with in many recipes. Often we put them on rice or potatoes. We also love them in burritos and taco salads. Plus I often get compliments on these beans. It is amazing how great a simple, inexpensive recipe can taste. I hope you like it too!
Limited food prices and other factors can also help reduce risk for high water
Love this crockpot!>>> ur2.pl/1064 I have several but this is my go to! I love the locking lid and programmimg screen
Thank you for recipe! When you say they took all day? How many hours?
You don’t soak the beans overnight or preboil them before cooking?
I love the way you, prepare your food. May God continue to bless, your good hands, Ms Brenda Dee.
Howdy Mary from Texas!!! Love your channel and have a pot of beans going today.God bless!!!❤️
How’s it going?! Enjoyed the video! Have you looked into using smzeus. c o m to get more subscribers??
The general rule for how much water you should add is “2 inches above the bean height.” In other words you put all your beans in the crockpot, then add water until the water level is 2 inches above the beans. You’ll get the perfect thickness and bean softness.
when u added that cornbread 2 yur bowl that took it 2 another level 4 me
Them beans looks so good with them ham hocks and hot water cornbread
I. Laughing that you don’t stir. I’ve been told to thicken the juice, give a good stir halfway thru cooking. Most of us respect and hold our moms way of cooking, cause nothing’s better than cooking like momma if she’s no longer with us.
I love to cook beans in my slow cooker I need to see moor beans crock pot cooking
Thank you soo much Ms Dee. I never tried the beans in the pot with onions and a bell pepper. I will in about 1 hour for sure. Girl, you make it look soo good I could eat the pot, beans and all. Thank you again very much.
Making these tomorrow! This was the best looking recipe I seen
Brenda, I enjoyed another of your videos. Just an FYI. You talked about your beans sometime less time to cook and sometimes more time to cook. Several things cause that: location where grown (how much rain they had) temperature, and growing season. The important thing is that you do not mix beans from one bag in with beans from another bag. If this is done, you may end up with some beans being a little trough or some being mushy. So if you are going to cook more than 1 pound at a time, get a larger size bag…..and they will all cook to the same amount of doneness in the same amount of time. I learned this from a great Tex-Mex cook and it works every time. Loving your programs, Jo Ann from Mississippi
Thank you nice video. You mentioned not to stir, but you have to lift them up & over when cooking on top of stove, but I am not stirring them. ( When cooking on stove top you are just making sure they are not sticking) this is why lifting & over is good. Now in crock pot it may not stick like a pot on the stove, that’s why you are not stirring. In the interim I Love your channel.
“God Bless. Happy New Year To All
❤✌
I never soak, usually use the pressure cooker but wanted to see how to do this in the slow cooker. Well done, Mary. I don’t use meat but this is a good recipe.
The slow setting is 144 and raises to 209 degrees over hours, that is not enough to kill bacteria. Keep it on high for 4 hours instead. Just a note. I bought a Century countdown timer, I plug the crock into the timer and the timer will turn off the crock for you.
hhmmm, my grandmother’s, mom and dad. Never soaked the beans. They just rinse them. Put garlic clove, water and dash of salt. And cook it.
Thank you, I can feel the joy and love you have for cooking! I pray more people cook for their children with love and joy. Have a blessed day! May God bless your channel!
What’s the setting on the Crock pot and how many hours?? You did not say.
Thank you so much for this! Lots of good information here…really helped me a lot! ☺️
P. S. Nevet heard of putting in sugar but…I shall give it a try. Yummy!!!
Yes ma’am you did that! It’s a cold day inTexas and this is perfect for lunch and dinner!!!
HOw many quarts was your slow cooker? How many hours did this take on high?
They look delicious, I never knew to not stir your beans. We have them at least twice a month, going to try your recipe next. Love your recipes dear.
The clasps for the lid are for transporting the Crock pot. Not for cooking. It’s dangerous to use them while cooking.
“Have a Blessed Day?” Ms Dee… my day has just been blessed by watching this video and discovering your channel. Your type of cooking is what I was raised on and at 74 years old… it is still my favorite type of food to eat. Thank you so very much for sharing this very valuable knowledge. U.S. Army, Ret. Texas
I followed your recipe for thanksgiving tonight. Thank you it turned out perfect
I love pinto beans because they are so delicious and easy. I agree with every thing you said except the use of ham hocks. I like to wait until I have a big hickory smoked ham and I save the ham bone for the beans.
(Bacon senses tingling) hey everyone whats going on in he….OMG. INHALES deeply……………………………..BACOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNN!!!! You made my week. Looks fantastic!
That’s my favorite meal, soup beans (that’s what we call dried beans) and cornbread! As long as I remember I’ve loved them. Growing up, mama would cook them every week for our big family. So now, I’m 65 and to this day I cook soup beans and cornbread every week like mama did! They are so healthy too. And with food prices going sky high, they are a very economical meal.
YOU ARE FABULOUS!!! We moved from Los Angeles to the middle of Montana and I so miss this comfort food. I’m making taco dinner for 24 tomorrow two kinds of beans and need to crockpot the pintos while I’m at work. I just put them in the fridge to soak!
Bubba from foest gump-
You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey’s uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There’s pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich.

My nanny would always eat pinto beans with mayonnaise and cornbread crumbled up with it. I tried to cook dried beans once and they came out crunchy so I haven’t tried again but I think I’ll have to give it a go since they’re cheaper.
THANK YOU SO MUCH MS BRENDA FOR SHARING YOUR YUMMY DELICIOUS RECIPE UNDERNEATH SO WE CAN HAVE THEM FOR LATER THANK YOU SO MUCH THANK YOU SO MUCH MS BRENDA FOR THINKING OF PEOPLE LIKE ME WHO CANNOT COOK YOU ARE FABULOUS
Never use the crockpot, making some beans would be a good use of it. Thank you for your recipe, love you!
I have never added sugar to pinto beans. I am now! A N D, this girl loves her smoked ham hocks! Thanks for your time and culinary talents. ❤️
Thank you, Mother Brenda! I was given a CP for Xmas/2019, and I’m taking my maiden voyage with it tonight. She told me what to do, but I’m a visual guy you’ve shown me a great “picture”, hehehee.
beans need to be boiled for 10 minutes to destroy the toxins.
Those beans with the ham hocks is looking so delicious, but I ate so many while growing up until I am still burnt out on them. We had them every day and my mother wasn’t the best cook so I avoided the beans and primarily went for the broth along with the cornbread to eat.
Too much talking about irrelevant stuff…get to the point about adding the bacon like the title says…for crying out loud…lol
it depends if your beans are last years crop or new crop… and salt at the end
Oh my, my Ms. Dee… This looks so delicious, I wished I lived next door to you, maybe I would get a bowl. Bless you, dear sweet soul. I love you videos.
Thank You for sharing this information and I fry the bacon for a few minutes but not to a crisp then I put them in the crock pot and I’ll try the beef broth next time

I am so thankful I found your YouTube channel!! You are AMAZING!!!
Where do I purchase the ham season packets? Is there one brand you use?
Thank you, I found them at Walmart and made them immediately, they were delicious
Quick question is the bacon precooked? This looks so yummy!!
So how long do you cook them overall? And is the whole cook on high?
This looks really good. I’ll make this with some collard greens and cornbread.
You’re information is very helpful for some, and I can see that. I was looking for a specific recipe which I found hard to follow here. I have no doubt you know what you are doing! I will give bacon in my pinto beans a try, bay leaves should work too.
Can these beans be purchased anywhere? I’m on the West coast.
Why do I always forget these yummy foods. I’m adding this stuff to my shopping list. I’ve never made it in a crockpot. And that cornbread, oh my I’ll watching that video next. Thanks you!!!
Omg food of the Gods, love this makes me think of Moms cooking beans, love ya thanks for sharing.

Hi Ms. Brenda. I really APPRECIATE you sharing recipes that keep the kitchen COOL!!! I LOVE anything with hot water corn bread! YOUR DISH LOOKS D E L I C I O U S! Wish I lived next door. LOL.
Hey hello
I just wanted to say thank you for this recipe i tried it and it was really good.
For a thicker soup, remove the lid for the last 45 minutes of cooking. Just keep an eye on them.
This looks so good. The church gave my son pinto beans yesterday. Look forward to trying this recipe. Ty so much!!
I dont use hamhocks I use salted pork or fatback as we call it where I grew up. But pintos, cornbread, fried potatoes with onions almost as good as steak.
Good for you getting sponsored and I like the fact that you’re making it clear it is a sponsored video. Either way, looks good.. I’ll try it thanks!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! My boyfriend and I have been together for over a year. I have the good old Central Nebraska cooking down, but wanted tips on some of his favorites! He grew up in South Texas, around the Alto Bonito area. I know they basics, but wanted a bit of help! Because of this recipe/tips, I have now subscribed to your channel. I am now going to settle in for the night and watch some more of your videos!
Aren’t you supposed to use a small coffee cup to dip those beans from the pot?? I think it adds to the authenticity, lol.
Whew Auntie!! You got the hot water cornbread going!! I just need some fried green tomatoes! Your channel is awesome
Thanks for your video. Beans are great too when you are on a budget! I am cooking some now and I have a can of Tony’s Creole seasoning. HAVE A VERY BLESSED DAY
Love beans! Your ham hocks looked really good too. So easy! Thanks for sharing. ❤
I love making these. I have a big pot of Lima beans and ham cooking in one crockpot and a big pot of pinto beans and ham in another crockpot cooking. I want lots of leftovers to fill my freezer. The only thing I do differently is that I don’t add oil. It doesn’t need any oil. The beans soften on their own.
Hi Ms. B, If you add 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda they want cause as much gas.
Happy Easter everyone 2020 than you so much for the recipe
Hi Ms. Brenda Dee!!! My late husband♡ always made beans. He never made them in the crock pot. It seems much easier because you dont have to watch them!!! Im going to try these out. Looks like a great recipe. Yes I like alot of broth. Nice video. A fan&friend. DiDi
None of these idiots tell you how large these slow cookers are, 3, 5, 6? 7? 8.5? How many quarts???????? Why do we have to guess, what a flake.
You can just hear the humble spirit in your voice and how you enjoy cooking thank God for MOTHER’S like you ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Whoa — delicious— plan to make this weekend — I will NOT stir—
If you pick up the bowl and hold it over the crock pot while spooning the cooked pintos it will keep from dripping on outside of crock pot and making a mess.
Looks good so how long did it take to cook in the slow cooker
Looks beautiful! Great video. But why wash your hands into the beans, touch nothing, stay hygienic, use a spoon. p.s. The number one selling beans in the U.S. are the pinto, second in line is the great-northern-bean. You might read Navy but that’s not true as the navy bean is smaller and fatter than the northern plus price is less for northern. Personally, the northern bean has the most flavor but the pinto takes in the most flavors like a tofu.
Pinto beans are my all time favorite! They’re delicious and I always add a little sugar. Never knew not to stir though! Definitely going to try your easy simple recipe
We have fried potatoes with our beans and cornbread.. it’s a family favorite
Great video!!! Love your channel and new subby from Texas!!! Have some beans going now.God bless.
Thank you for this easy recipe. I’m behind reading youtube but think this would be a good staple while we are not supposed to go to the market!
3:15 The REASON your momma told you “not to stir” the beans was because she did not want you to remove the lid and let all the steamy heat out. So if you do check the beans, then it’s OK to stir…
looks yummy and love crockpots. grew up in Appalachia where we called pinto beans “soup beans”. Mashed the beans just a little while they are cooking to create a thicker broth. Yep like you we had corn bread and soup beans once a week or so usually with a green onion out of the garden. Lots of people crumble the cornbread into the beans. I love your toppings and just started using relish myself also now add chow chow a spicy cabbage like relish. always hot sauce and cheddar cheese. A jar of picante sauce added during cooking is great too. Sometimes a chopped carrot added. Some folks add tomato paste/sauce during the cooking process. The great thing about beans are they are so versatile and you can eat them so many ways lots of creativity!! Love the video straight to the point and easy.
