If so, you’ve used mental imagery to enhance your performance.
Mental imagery can be a powerful tool for strength training, reports a recent study from the Strength and Conditioning Journal. The authors recommend a four-step process.Exactly how visualization increases strength remains a mystery, says Shackell, but this study suggests that it can be a powerful addition to your strength-building arsenal: “Studies like this one reinforce the reality that our mental and physical systems are very much connectedand have the ability to.Just as visualizing a desired result can make your mouth water and produce results for athletes it is a proven tool for success to build, boost and improve your self esteem.
When you experience yourself from the inside out as confident, successful, loving and happy those feelings are reflected in what you say, what you do and how you feel.Also, mix and match these exercises. For example, try number skipping with candles or apples, both forward and in reverse.
Really, the sky’s the limit here. The more you play with this visualization exercise, the more benefits you will receive and the more ideas for more brain exercises.In fact, a 2004 study found that whether people performed physical exercises or just imagined doing them, they could gain strength by simple using the mind’s power.

What if I attempt to imagine the objects but see completely different things? Like when I tried to imagine the white mug, I saw an Egypt Pharoah instead? Or when I tried to focus on imagining the spoon, all I see is a construction worker’s head slowly detaching from his body and went flying up to space where, then, the Star Wars credits came scrolling up?
Gahhh when I try to visualize it, I can’t keep it a still image. Hands pick up the object and move it around, feeling the inside and out and tossing it in the air, spinning it and feeling what it’s like to dip it underwater. I can’t keep i freaking STILL.

I’ve added vizualisation exercieses 1 week ago to my 3-step morning chess studies (I’m waking up at 5:55 and start training middlegame, endings and tactics):
1) studying middlegame concepts OTB 30 min
2) studiyng endgame concepts OTB 15 min
3) visualization exercieses 15 min (5 exercieses) pfff it takes 30 minutes to be honest
4) solving 1-2-3 moves tactics 10-15 min
An axample of step 3) is:
-Closing eyes.
1. Imagening color and placement of 6 random squares. trying to be maximum concrete.
2. Imagening all the cordinates and color of random diagonal.
3…. How many moves Nd1 will capture pawn on a6.
4. Imagening random tactic patterns
W. Kc3, Rd3; B. Ka2.
White to move: Imagening mate in 2 moves (all the squares trying to see the placement ad color ofcource) Try to be maximum concentrated.
5. Solving tactics
W. Kh2, Qe6, Nf7, ps g2, g3; B. Kg8, Rf8, ps g7, h7
White to meve: Imagening mate in 2 moves
-Opening eyes

Very materialistic visualization. You want to own a house that’s 1 mile from gate to door? And have a selection of cars to choose every day like people choose dress for work? Seriously? Where do you think the rest of the human population will live if the top 5% actually achieve this “dream”/nightmare? I would have quit after the first few minutes if so many people in the comments didn’t go gaga over how much tears they produced. I stuck through to the end to be thoroughly disappointed.

This is something i was taught to do as a child, what is the purpose? Even 5-10 minutes after viewing this i can still see each object clearly, i can rotate them in my mind and use the spoon to tap the cup, hear it clink etc… ive always been able to vividly remember a room and the objects within it even down to items in a draw and their specific location (pick them up, move them around)… is this not normal, i thought everyone could do this??

ah one thing I’ve been doing right I guess! I’ve always done random training throughout my day as a “if I’m used to moving from a “cold state” then if I ever HAVE to move while feeling like this I’m already used to it” but I’m glad to see that there’s a lot more benefits to this than I thought!

I have exercises for every room in my home as well as for activities outside the home like waiting for the bus. Once upon a time, I ate 3 meals a day in horse stance, for around 4 years. This type of training probably won’t turn you into an olympic athlete but it can make you super fit for life. If you don’t have time for the gym, this type of life style is a must.
Please upload more of these kind of basic exercises. Because nothing spectacular can be done without getting the basics right. Isn’t it.

ive been meditating on and off for last few years. I’ve paid hundreds of dollars to learn TM and yet nothing has stuck. I’ve battled depression and have not had a good couple of years. I need help with learning to calm my mind down.
To add to that, it helps to think of all possible experiences/realities/things as an overlapping infinite number of realities and timelines, when you visualise an outcome you are not trying to add something that is not there to your reality you are merely changing your course into the reality in which your goal is attained in the near future, and making your way towards it. I think of it like when a signal changes the direction of a railroad track:)

Yes! This is great. I do movement breaks at work to stay energized. I have a circuit with bands, a kettlebell to swing, and I also try to go on a 10-20 minute walk outside once a day. It’s so important to keep moving.

There are many different ways to build visualization skills. The technique you discuss is probably best for people who are non-visual thinkers. Image streaming the way you describe it would be useful for someone who bases their thinking largely in language.
For visual thinkers who may have difficulty creating mental images from nothing, it’s good to use sensory recall. In this way a mental scene can build itself naturally and appear quite vivid. To each his own, whatever works 😉

Conclusion:
Visualization is a misnomer perhaps. Chess masters do not see an image in their mind like they would if they would use their eyes. Research shows that the intersection between “eye-viewing” and an “mental image” is “abstraction”.
No wonder that everybody complains about a “hazy” vision in their head: they are pursuing a vision they never should have attempted visualize to begin with.

Animals dont need to arm up! They just stretch or do pandiculation for a few seconds
do pandiculation relaxing than tensing muscles building connections before sleep. whoever is reading this please dont sit as sitting is the new smoking! Also if your looking to always be warmed up and always burn calories than make your environment you live in harder. Dont eat in your room and always keep a jug of water in the kitchen and also only take what you need to eat with into your room than if you need more you’ll keep walking all around your house all day plus drink a gallon of water a day with some electorlytes though and never quit!!!! Nothing bad can happen to you you’ll need extra water from all the extra walking!!

I’ve been developing this habit by without thinking for years! I even tried to fight it because of what people described as ‘yawning and stretching meetings’ but you’ve given me the gift of the perfect response: ‘actually I’m pandiculating in meetings’. Since the lockdown began I started screaming as I pandiculate it sounds mental but give it a go, like a kiai! Great video man, your channel is great, keep it up!

Spot on! I’ve never thought about it that way but I do use the bodyweight movements I’m training to pick up keys and whatever minor chores I’m doing.

is it odd to see the objects rotating or “in use” when visualizing? for example the mug did a slow 360 turn and i could see the scissors cutting fabric but i could recognize the details of the scissors, thank you for this wonderful tool

I’m grateful, but I’d begun to feel every year of my age. I work in a grocery store and it was becoming clear that I needed to become *stronger*. Not sexier. Not beach ready. More capable of doing my job and earning a living.
I began by doing a few pushups throughout my day, greasing the groove. The strength gains were amazing as I practiced mindfulness with every pushup, and indeed with every move.
I’m using the method with other bodyweight exercises. I’m even using heavy crates and boxes to practice proper scapular retraction and isometric holds.
Greasing The Groove has been a true game changer. It allows a gentle, mindful, and most of all effective approach to proprioception and exercise. It allows your neuromuscular system to build the pathways for proper form before you start slinging weights around or banging out 50 pushups. Thanks!

It allows you to slowly build a lot of strength. You do 10 push-ups anytime you’re waiting. Throughout the day you can easily do a hundred. Because you’re getting good rest in between. Try doing 100 push ups at once it will be a lot harder.
gonna do this everyday…. i can visualize them all except the flowers at the end…. its a bit hard lol the only problem i have is to see the image as a whole…. my attention/vision is more part by part… i guess it willl come with practice

Interesting, I was just having this thought as I sat on the airplane coming home today how after sitting for so long I felt like I couldn’t contract my muscles as well and was almost losing the perception of my leg in space, thats also why old people are more likely to fall do to a lack ability to sense the ground (years of wearing socks/shoes) atrophying the motor units in their brain.

I do this the whole day so that my overall stamina gets increased and I don’t give my heart sudden work load which it cannot handle in the case if I don’t get to workout or don’t fell like it for a long time and just do a hard taxing workout which ultimately causes the heart to work more suddenly which it cannot if you don’t practice this technique. This also trains the brain to regularly send out more frequent signals to the body and increase it’s ability to handle more cognitive load and help reduce stress. However we should still start out slow for this to work effectively and efficiently. It also helps out mucles and ligaments to handle more tensile and compressive forces as well as handling mechanical terms for forces like ” buckling” which can cause the bones to break if any sudden force like in gymanstics or circus acts and if this technique is incorporated… It forces the bones to get stronger and not make them brittle in the process. But slow and steady and consistent practice along with the appropriate diet(most important step!) And Sleep will result in this technique being successful for anyone. Props to you Bioneer!! If I am good whith visualization, and i see whith my mind negative experience of my life but didn’t want it what do i have to do?
For some reason, I can’t visualize the objects properly. The image would distort and look like something else. I can mildly visualize images.
How do I know what’s on images from current situation to desired one? I already see clearly what I desire and can 100% feel my wish fullfilled, but don’t know how to get clear message from my subconscious mind. Can you tell me how to do it? I wish I could keep the image in my mind, but it fades away after a second or two. I can tell you what it looks like afterwards from memory, but not because I can still see it in my minds eye. That’s how I’ve gotten along all this time in “remembering” how to get somewhere or math, not because of visualizing. It’s discouraging because a lot of spiritual exercises include using the imagination.:(

Hello i am not sure if im doing what im supposed to.i can imagine blobs of the image pretty alright but it only lasts for a fraction of a second and i see complete darkness in my eyelids. I want to be able to hold the image for as long as i like and strongly in my eyelids as if i was looking at a picture or video. Is this possible? Is this what i need to do? Do i just keep practising? I desperately want to change this.

I have just started to practice these exercises..problem I am facing is that mostly its suggested to stop for around 3 seconds and then release the muscle..but when I do it…the muscle is only holding for around 1.5 seconds and automatically loosens instead of holding for a bit more. Can you please advise on this as Im worried that its less than 3 seconds which is suggested everywhere.
All positions call for a curve in the back, I have scoliosis of the spine, not possible, laying on my belly is definitely out.

All I see is black…but I can see the outline of the object and I know what the object looks like in my mind but I’m not fully seeing it as i would with my eyes open. I’m a little unsure what that means. Although with the hermit card when I closed my eyes a image of my ex showed up clear as days as if I was looking at him for real?????

I have started wondering if all of this, law of attraction, visualization, etc is some scam becoming just like a billion dollar industry where people, like pharmaceutics, keep people’s hopes high and dry.
Take kids for example, they dream and play toys they like the most, try to imitate other people, but in the end none of them becomes what they dreamed about. Some play firefighters, some police men, etc, etc, but in the end just a few join those professions and most of them do not like them later in life. Don’t give me that crap that they did not visualize it long enough.
Can we get anything by using perfect visualization…..without taking pysical actions…

Totally agree with the benefits. I use my watch’s hourly chime to remind me to do a bit of calisthenics or movement throughout the day. This is in addition to focused training time. Lethargy begets more lethargy, need to break the cycle and stay active.
When I was a kid I could visualize things pretty well. Like I could conjure images of letters, numbers, shapes, colors, etc if I tried. Not sure when I lost the ability, sometime around 18 I stopped being able to see anything in my mind at all. At least intentionally. When I daydream sometimes I see faint images of like a scene, but nothing that I can control.
