I really enjoyed your video. It really is so beneficial to know you’ve done both. Please share what you think the best WW snacks are and that are the lowest in points or that you can have the most of. If you have popcorn is there any of the spray butters that you can use?? Years and years ago WW sold their own butter spray for vegetables and for popcorn. It was so good but it hasn’t been available for probably 45 years.
I love your nails and hair! So pretty!!! Congratulations on your progress. You are doing fantastic! KETO on!
Can you drink on Keto as long as you keep within your carbs?
Hi, great video. I have been on Keto for 5 weeks, but on and off having issues with imbalance and being dizzy. Can’t seem to get the correct balance even with carb mgr. I have not much of an appetite. Was wondering what happened to you? Was it similar to my experience? I’m going to check out your blog. Thanks for this!:)
I do not feel you get it at all-you didn’t log your run, understand the weekly points or the fact that people usually do this when needing loss of weight.
As someone who never struggled with weight until having babies, this is my first weight loss journey. I’m so glad that I picked keto as my way of eating because I discovered just how low my carb tolerance is and how much cutting them out has changed me.
Are you kidding with the amount of food you ate. You didn’t follow the plan.
Hi Colleen! Thanks for this review. Sounds exactly like ‘Slimming World’ which is what I did for over a year. It ruined my relationship with food. They claim to not be a diet, but to be a ‘lifestyle change’. They also say they don’t count points, but you do have a small ‘bad food’ allowance everyday, which are called ‘SYNS’! Talk about demonising food choices! Been living with no food rules for over a month now and loving how I feel. Enjoying foods and finally know what it feels like to not just be swinging back and forth on the hunger scale from one extreme to the next. If you have heard of Slimming World a review on it would be great just to validate my thoughts.
You’re so right! Everyone is so different. I know people who live on sugar and carbs and are as thin as a stick. The biggest thing is you’re taking responsibility for your health!
Does Custokebon Secrets really help to lost crazy amounts of weight? We have read many good things about this popular lose weight secrets.
Keto in spring summer..so your weight is not bad to start with then Slimming world / WW for winter..maybe.
Nope….Keto is backed by science…real doctors, real studies!
keto is nothing but modified low carb high fat that’s been around forever. It works short term is a fad no matter how everyone tries to spin it.
For me, keto has been wonderful and helpful. I felt great until it stopped my monthly cycle that had been regular and perfectly normal for years. I was diagnosed with PCOS years ago and worked very hard to heal the symptoms. Now, not only has my body stopped cycles all together but I also had a new cyst burst. My obgyn advises me to stop keto immediately and will be checking things further. I want to continue losing weight and as WW had worked for me before, I will be doing it again from here on out.
“Keto is not like a company…” That’s right you lying frauds, you can’t make tons of money off of it. It’s open source:)
Guuurl, I have those gma stories too!! I lost a bunch of weight in hs and the gma that was always telling me to lose weight, then started tellin me I was too skinny!! Damn… lol
I wish I could give this video 100 likes thumbs up!! Yes!! Exactly!!! You do you! Whatever works for you is the best. Everyones different, not one plan works for everyone. Thank you for saying it!
I think this would have been helpful if you A. Learned about the program before filming at all. B. Weren’t already eating healthy and had a problem with portion control. As a dietician I think it is irresponsible to write off a program without understanding it & really getting in the mindset of the people who are using a program like this. The point system works for people who have been betrayed by “listening to their bodies”. It is for people who already have a poor relationship with food & need a loose guideline to stay in control of their meals.
I’ve done the low carb diets… Sure you loose fast, but you feel like sh%t! Weight Watchers works…. I started in April 2019 to present July 2019… I’ve lost 25 Lbs. and feeling great. They have revamped the program with 0 pt. foods. I was amazed how well it works. I’m not here to promote WW’s, I felt that people deserve to hear from someone who speaks the truth from experience.
Daniella, I almost didn’t watch this because I thought you were switching over. Oh no….
I’m glad I did watch it. I tried Weight Watchers back in 2002-3 and I felt the worst I have ever felt. Point blank. I think you are right about that each person can do whatever works for them…❤️♀️
I’m going to comment as I watch because I know I have a LOT to say about this as someone who is on WW (Green plan). (I tend to write “novels” in here, this will probably be a long one).
WW actually discourages the use of the term “free” foods because it implies that the food is a “free-for-all.” Instead, they say the foods are “zero points”. These are supposed to be the BASE of your diet. My WW leader says that they’re therenot to encourage you to eat more of them, but to eat them MORE.
In the OLD plan that I started with in 2009, a banana and 100 calorie pack of cookies would each cost me 2 points. Now, the cookies might cost me 4 while the banana is 0. I am free to eat whatever I want, but the hope is that most of the time, people will reach for the banana over the cookies. The 0 point food list consists of foods that are generally less likely to be abused and have protein, fiber, and/or other micronutrients that should help keep you satiated. On Green, that means that my 0 point food list includes most fruits and vegetables. For dinner tonight, I’m planning on having chicken or pork with air fried vegetables. I’ll probably spend about 6 points on my meat, a point on olive oil for a bit of fat on the vegetables, and the vegetables (which will take up the majority of the plate) will clock in at 0.
Green 0 Point Food List: Fruits and vegetables (excluding peas, corn, potatoes, parsnips, plantains, avocado, and olives)
Blue 0 Point Food List: Above plus peas, corn, beans/legumes, chicken/turkey breast, seafood, eggs, fat-free plain yogurt.
Purple 0 Point Food list: Above plus potatoes, whole grain pasta, bean/lentil pastas, brown rice, quinoa, farro, oats etc.
So, a dinner of chicken breast, brown rice, steamed broccoli, and butter might cost 7/30 points on Green (counting everything except the broccoli); 5/23 on Blue (not counting broccoli and chicken), and 2/16 on Purple (not counting broccoli, chicken, or rice; only counting butter).
I generally don’t eat low-fat foods. If I need to, I have my weekly allowance. The 23 points you got is generally the base amount you need for the day, but if you’re eating a lot of chicken, eggs, beans, etc you’re probably ok if you don’t hit that target. The weekly allowance can be used if you’re feeling a little hungrier or if you just need the points for a little something extra. The weekly allowance is built into the plan (you have 35 based on your weight, age, height, and gender). Weeklies are there to be used if you need them. (You can also swap out FitPoints if it works for you; some people discourage it. Personally, I will allow it if I use all of my weeklies).
If you don’t eat all of your daily points, you can roll over up to 4 per day. I actually really like that part of the plan. If I know I have an event on Saturday, I can eat a little lighter a few days before. Over the course of the week, things end up balancing out. Those rollovers are ADDED to the weekly allowance. The weeklies and rollovers combined are WW’s way of acknowledging that some days you might need to eat more or less than others. Between workouts, events, hormones, being sick, being busy, or just being more/less hungry one day, it’s not realistic to eat 23 points every single day. Some days, you might need to eat more. Other days, you might need to eat less
It does take time to adjust to learning the plan. During the first few days or even first couple of weeks, it’s more about learning what foods work for you, etc.
Obviously, you have every right to your opinion, but I can’t help wondering if you already had a bit of a bias coming into this as someone who is strongly believes in no food rules and anti-diet culture andand simply not fully understanding all of the aspects of the program (I’m happy to answer any questions if you still want to understand more. I have been petty successful on the plan even while eating things like avocado, peanut butter, full-fat dairy, olives, etc on a regular basis).
I really want to try Keto but I am scared to. How can you eat alot of high fat foods and not have heart disease?
I started keto and my sister in law just bashed me and keto. Said weight watchers is it!!! She was huge but not dieting. I started losing weight and 6 months after I started she started. I go to her house there’s keto books everywhere!!!! I’m like wth. Then she was keto this keto that. I was scratching my head like 6 months ago I was sh** in your book. That was 2018. I’m 3 sizes down and she told my brother “ looks like Cyndi’s off keto and not losing weight. I was so mad. I’ve lost 40 pounds. Well she did us all a favor and left him. Buh bye. Don’t need it.
I did WW years ago and I was always walking around with my calculator in the grocery store trying to figure out how I could make it work with what I wanted to eat and what I was allotted to eat. I’m a taller than average woman so I probably got more points, but I’d still have a lot of times where I was still hungry. Every grocery trip and day of eating was a game of Tetris. I also disliked how they were pro-artificially sweetened food because it had less calories yet real foods were “bad.” I did it for a few months and gave it an honest try and it never did much for me. This was before the app so I carried my book around with me everywhere and had the cookbooks, products, etc. I was thinking of food in terms of points and that’s not how I wanted to look at food and I was frustrated because I was looking for something to help me break bad food habits/addictions and this program amplified it.
I’m happy that it has worked for some people, unfortunately I wasn’t one. I think the people that love WW and what it did for them are missing the overall point of this video. From reading the comments a lot of you say that she missed all the extra ins and outs of the app and the different systems that would have justified her point consumption (exercise), however the point was that eating shouldn’t be that complicated and you shouldn’t have to feel bad or that your borrowing food from tomorrow to feel satisfied today. She’s very clear that this is her opinion and encouraging everyone to do what feels right for themselves. If WW is working for you, that’s awesome, but it doesn’t work for everyone and that’s okay too. We don’t all have to like the same thing. We are all trying to find what is right for ourselves:) <3
Crack/burgers
Love the fact that your so down to earth and tell it like it is thank you for that!!!
Basically if you stick with WW or KETO, both will work. It doesn’t work if you over eat or get off any of these programs. Too much of anything isn’t good. I find that WW is easier since I can have a nice plate of pasta a week. I’m Italian and a cook and it’s just easy. Too much protein makes me sick but that’s just me. With weightwatchers I’m able to have a weight watchers toast with a dab of peanut butter ever morning, fuss free, think free. A good rule is to train yourself to eat the same no work breakfast every morning. Basically, do you and good luck to all. I lost 60 lbs in 4 1/2 months on weight watchers but I did it to a T and didn’t have too many carbs or too much protein. Look great and feel great. It’s been a year and it’s still off. I can’t lose anymore weight or I’d be under weight. Current weight is 108 lbs.
Ive done weight watchers, ww and keto with ww i was always hungry and never lost anything for 6 months. Keto i lost 61 in 5 months
Good (WW) for new Dieters, Me I’m never going to stop Keto……. down 140 pounds!
I had a successful weight loss in the 80’s and again after having my second child on WW. I’ve slowly gained 40 pounds over time from getting older and it’s really messed with my head. Ever since I’ve been practicing intuitive eating, my obsession with food ceased. I would be on food sites all the time pinning recipes. Now I pin pretty pictures. After being on WW’s on and off for decades I believe they set it up that you return due to regaining in order to profit because nobody can do that regime for the rest of their lives.
Great video! Ultimately you have to find what works best for you, remain consistent and make adjustments as needed.
I did WW years ago and lost 30 pounds. I do think that it works but I found myself thinking of food way too much due to all of the planning.
I have PCOS, and keto is what personally works for me.
I restarted keto last week and started at 232 lbs (my highest weight EVER) and am down to 218 lbs already. My first goal is to hit 200, and then from there 175 and finally 150! Wish me luck!
I love your stance.!!! Keto a gimmic? Not the real diet but I see what I call two types, medicinal for weight loss and commercial keto for social media. Tell them to ask Dr Eric Westman, Director of Obesity Clinic at Duke University, if keto is a gimmic! He has used keto x 20 yrs, but it’s a gimmic, geez. WW is great. For a lot of people, but too free for me. I love keto, lost 73 lbs and am going to keep at it.this works for me!
Let’s get something straight here right out of the gate. You’re already thin and in-shape enough to go “running.” For some poor slob that’s 450 pounds WW would be a Godsend because it would begin to teach portion control and making better choices. I guess I don’t understand what your point was of spending all this time making this video. I knew what the outcome was going to be the first second I laid eyes on you.
I can’t argue without getting butt hurt…..girl you sound like me! Bahahha
I agree! I did weight watchers at just 16 and then off and on until 22ish… It DESTROYED my relationship with food. It wasn’t until mid 2019 that I began to follow you and others with a similar message and began to finally heal. I’m by no means perfect but I finally feel basically “normal” again around food. It’s amazing for my marriage because we can keep all sorts of junk for him in the house and I don’t have issues with binging it anymore! Now that I’m allowed to have it, it’s not really that appealing.
My husband is doing really well on Keto-it seems to work really well for his lifestyle.
Love this! I so relate to everything Colleen said. Anytime I’ve tracked calories, macros, points, etc. it has eventually led to a binge or “out of control” eating. It’s no surprise that listening to your body ALWAYS beats out counting food intake.
Two things that I noticed about this video… You didn’t eat as much free food as you could such as when I get hungry and I need a snack I’ll eat some grapes or some carrotssomething that’s filling and healthy but free points. Another thing is you’re actually trying to lose weight on this app so you’ve obviously been not eating healthy or eating way too much… And it’s training you to make better choices and better portions.
You don’t need either of those things as you obviously eat very healthy and are very good weight.
What are some ways to lost tons of weight? I read many great reviews on the net about how exactly Custokebon Secrets will help you lost crazy amounts of fat. Has anybody tried this popular fat burn secrets?
Have you ever heard of Trim Healthy Mama? Trying to incorporate that with with weight watchers, although with THM they don’t do any tracking.
I’m coming from weight watchers and I’m gonna start keto. In still trying to track but sometimes I go over points with the facts but I think it help keep everything in perspective.
Girl…if people who actually follow you think you’re in this for “gimmicks” they have lost their damn minds! You are the realest you tuber I follow because you are real! I have no support with this lifestyle, i live alone and all my friends are skinny…lol i may have never met you but we are keto buddies. Lol keep on keeping on and being you!!! We appreciate it and you! ❤❤❤
Keto is great and it’s not just a fad
I gave up crab and i’m feeling really good
This video has good advice, but I am confused about the best diet plan that I should use, only because I have never taken any. Anyone tried the Custokebon Secrets? I’ve noticed many people refer to great things about Custokebon Secrets.
In my opinion if you’re looking to lose weight than any diet will work when you fully give them a chance to do what it needs to do. However I view keto as a way to eliminate any inflammation in your body and with that said it helps you feel better and you have a more optimal experience as to any other diet bc with the others except for whole 30 as long as you can keep allowing process foods and sugars all your doing is looking to lose for a short time and feel hungry all the time which causes binge eating and that’s just the truth. I love that keto teaches you to eat Whole Foods and proteins so that you can stay satisfied and full where your snacking is minimal. There are so many health benefits from keto and there is no denying that, people’s lives have been changed for the better and losing weight is just a benefit.
I love watching you! You keep it real, and you look fantastic! Keep up the good work!
I tried Keto, did not work for me. I gave it almost a month and nothing. May be due to my meds.. Keto doesn’t work unless you keep the right macros. I could not do all that fat.. Fat in my coffee turns my stomach.. Low carb and portion control works for me but I never get into ketosis.. I think you look great. Your Keto info is very helpful to your followers..
I was starving on WW all the time….not on keto….and I’m full for a long time too…quite amazing!
Omg so weird! I literally have been doing keto for 4 weeks (lost 14lbs) and TONIGHT downloaded the WW app and paid for a subscription. Thought hmm might wanna see what’s better and came across this! Thanks for posting
Even though I can’t exercise cause of severe pain issues, I’ve managed to lose 23 pounds since September on Keto. I’m very grateful for every pound lost, 5 pounds a month ain’t that bad
I feel like WW has given me gudelines to make better food choices and exercise more. Without really doing the math, I think if you would’ve had just had less peanut butter and logged your run on the app (fit points), you would’ve been very close to the daily points. The average person starts WW with really bad eating and exercise habits, it takes time to form new ones and it’s never easy at first.
Great crack analogy! I will think of that every time I’m tempted!
I’ve done ww a couple times. I was able to lose weight for my wedding but I knew it wasn’t going to work long term. I became obsessive about having to count and measure everything. And I was NEVER happy because I was hungry all the time! And EVERY food choice I made was to stay in line with my point allowance. I know it was not mentally healthy for me.
I started off adhering to this particular diet guidebook “Kοnοnοz yyd” (Google it). I love the truth that I could sleep for Six to eight hrs at a time. Apart from that, Two pounds had been shed in my bodyweight also. In the event the directions are followed, the abdominal fat will certainly lost! Amazing plan!
WW has given me the support I need through Workshops but found that I needed to get more in tune with my hunger. 1 day as others have said is not the experience you need to truly experience WW. I still attend my workshops for support but I am no longer following a point system because tracking caused my eating disorder to spiral. The science is there. But you do need to weigh and measure with WW.
Intuitive eating is wonderful for some people; however, some people can’t eat intuitively for many different reasons. I take antidepressants and have gained 80lbs because my hunger and fullness cues are nonexistent. WW has helped me to get my eating habits back to a healthy range. I am starting to actually lose the weight I gained. As much as I would love to give up diets for good, it’s not a realistic for me and many other people.
Hi, I’ve just found your channel, I lost 120lbs with WW but ended up putting it back on + within 2yrs, not only that I was forever hungry and constantly aware of what foods I could and could not have, I’ve only been keto for 5 weeks and I find it a lot easier and don’t seem to get the same hunger pangs, it’s working great for me and I can see it being just a way of life, ok maybe a few slips now and then but it’s easy enough to jump back into keto, so if you’re unsure just give it a try, you won’t be disappointed x all the best Carol from Scotland
Guurl, just for the record, some cheeseburgers and fries are like crack! Yum! LOL. Love it!
100% WW for me. It’s just more sustainable for my lifestyle. I always think I want to try keto/low carb, but I can never stick to it. WW I can do, and make it work for my life.
I just started WW a week ago. I used to be Vegan, Paleo, Whole30, calorie counted, macros tracking, etc and tbh I’ve been LOVING WW. Like others have said, I think understanding the point system would have been super helpful vs eating your normal foods and just logging into the system. I’ve made a similar dinner (fajita bowls) and it was only 8 points!! It was SO good and satisfying! I’ve also had ice cream & cheese puffs this week LOL I would have LOVED to see a video of eating to the suggest plan vs just logging whatever you’re eating in the day and see how you felt after following their points system. Like I said, I’m a week in and I’m loving it. I struggle with intuitive eating, portion control & binge eating so this has been VERY easy for me while having to confront my poor eating habits from before. I feel a lot of freedom since no food is off limits and if I want something I can have it, just as a smaller portion. The points do change based on your weight and goals, my points went down we I lost weight this week. ALSO, if your goal isn’t to lose weight, then yes, this program isn’t for you.
I have been doing Keto since December 2017 and strictly did it until middle of March when I went on vacations. I lost 22 pounds (from 182 lb to 162 lb). Since then I am on and off Keto and didn’t lose any weight. I’m also looking for a an options with less carb restrictions. Do we have to pay monthly for weight watchers membership or there is a way to avoid the fee?
I am eating a low carb plant based diet and I am doing intermittent fasting. I am trying to stay in a fasted state for 17-20 hours. I failed in doing intermittent fasting before because I was forcing myself to skip breakfast did not work for me, I love having breakfast. Now, I stop eating between 2pm 5pm and I feel a little bit hungry in the evening(the sensation doesn’t really go away), but that is okay. It helps me go to sleep early and have a really good night sleep. Intermittent fasting is something that everyone should try. It brings discipline in your life!
Love your honesty on your weight loss Danielle. Everyone needs to find what works for them. Sugar is my problem! WW works for me when i am true to the plan. I can do low carb but not Keto. So many people say they are doing Keto but I wonder how many are low-carb vs Keto. Keep on doing what works for you.
My question is what happens when you reach your goal weight with WW? Are you forever continuously counting points in your head? Because that doesn’t sound appealing.
Thanks so much for sharing Colleen! I love watching your videos because they help me be more grounded and reframe my thoughts that lead to a bad relationship with food and my body!:) Also I love learning about hunger cues and being full or satisfied… because I have not understood that concept for years! I really just want to be healthy and make my body feel good.
I would love to hear your view of Profile by Sanford. I know a lot of people that use this program and I have in the past as well…. It really pushed me over the edge into bad eating disorder habits… and I find it frustrating that this is through Sanford Clinics!
Also, I would love some dinner ideas/recipes…I’m still learning how to cook!
I appreciate you so much!
Hey! I was seeking this kind of information. Have you continued this route?
I started WW in Jan. of last year and was on it for about 6-7 months. After that I would constantly track my points and calories in my head and knew the calories of every food. I would eat mostly zero point or low point foods, and restrict myself. I wouldn’t eat things like pasta, rice, pizza, oil, candy, cookies, or chocolate. I only used fat free everything (cheese, sour cream, cream cheese, milk, yogurt, whipped cream) and ate powdered peanut butter. WW helped me lose about 50 pounds, but I am struggling with disordered eating now. I finally stopped counting calories back in late January 2020 and started intuitive eating, but it’s hard. Your Instagram posts and YouTube videos have really helped me though. Thank you for that.
I agree with everything you said. Respectfully I choose Keto over WW but I certainly would never judge anyone on whatever they choose even if they judge my Keto. Regardless what you choose, It works if you work it!!!☕️
Healthy Keto isn’t extreme, it just isn’t mainstream. This video explains a snippet of what Keto is about. Mainstream high carbs diets put a big strain on the organs dealing with all that glucose, when you are young and fit your organs and hormones etc can take the strain and recover quickly. When you get to 50 you have to try harder to maintain health, we should look at our diet, not just for weight, but for helping lots of health issues. Keto has amazing results for lowing blood sugar levels, for type 2 disbetes, improving and curing many ailments and problems. Look into it please people.
I feel like all of you saying it “works” didn’t even finish the video… she clearly says that yes, WW would help you lose weight in the short run, but it’s not sustainable and basically encourages disordered eating. She also says that she understands that she only did it for one day, but she still has an opinion simply due to the all-encompassing point system. Before you comment, finish the video.
Yes girl I have been a WW lifetime member for eight years now have never gone above goal after I reached lifetime in 2011 can’t wait to watch whatever journey you decide I love you always and always and always!
Girl! What day is your anniversary?
My hubby and I will be celebrating our 11th anniversary March 27th!
I don’t like to debate either! I know what is good for me and what is helping me and I stick with that…
Oh and Keto rocks!
You are not a food addict. My body and mind say “shut up” and eat.
I always look forward to and enjoy your videos. No food rules still seems too good to be true. Especially when sugar addiction is at play
You are awesome! What other you tubers do you follow and like that do the keto diet?
You are so right. We all need to find what works for us.For me it took years!! I did WW many times and never worked. Barely lost anything! Tried so many other popular programs as well. Keto was finally the key to my success! It is horrible all these other YouTubers putting keto, veganism etc down. We all need to find our own journey. Keto can be incorporated into any lifestyle. I do think keto is an Amazing lifestyle choice because it does help with so many other things besides weight loss which these other “diets” do not.
My body is so used to keto I could do WW even if I wanted to, anytime I eat carbs (bread, pasta, cake) I end up throwing up now. I’ll stick to keto which makes me feel the best
I’ve watched a few videos of yours like this and you seem to only be a fan of intuitive eating and nothing else is a good option. Also if you’re going to review a program it might be a good idea to learn more about the program and try it for more then one day before judging it. I think to each their own but some people need some guidelines. I sure hope if someone asks your advice (as you say people do) on this or any other program that you’d be careful to provide your thoughts on such limited information and trying it for only one day…that would not be very responsible. Clearly these programs bring up eating issues in your past but that doesn’t mean everyone is in that same boat.
O.M.G. “your love language is food”. That just summed up me & my husband & I wasn’t even realizing it.:-0
First not everything works for everyone. Second you can eat what you want but not for every meal. If I want Pasta for dinner I use ground turkey in my homemade sauce, and bulk it up with eggplant and peppers. Then you choose lower point foods for other meals which are good and satisfying. Like a 3 egg omlet with spinach and tomatoes and center cut bacon and a two ingredient dough bagle for 4 points instead of that blueberry muffin. Lunch grilled could be chicken on a flatbread with tomatoes, lettuce and TBL of mayo (full fat) even a slice if cheese from 6 points and still have points for garlic bread 4 points with my pasta (protein plus penne) for 4 points my sauce with ground turkey and veggies zero points, and I would of had that muffin in the evening with teddy whip and fresh blueberries for 5 points for a grand total of 23 points. I ate ham, cheesey potatoes, sweet potatoes, etc On Easter. You just can’t eat like that everyday. I make better choices to allow myself the full fat and carbs…and when I want a Big Mac…I eat a Big Mac. You also get activity points which allow YOU to eat the way you did that day and maintain your weight. I’m not a dietician and I even know that. From your rant…it sounds like you still have issues with food. Good luck with that!
Hi Daniela, IMO everyone should do their own research and take food into consideration. Determine what you can stick with and search for friends that are supporting your choices. I’ve seen lots of info saying YoYo dieting is not good for your body and weight loss gets harder. Remember that when you decide what you want to do, it will require a lifestyle change. I’m still trying to figure out how my body is doing on keto, I lose then stall. Stick to what you decide on and give it time, I almost gave up too soon. I just added ACV to my day and I’ve been on keto since 10/1, 3 minor cheats. Down 25# slow going but feeling wonderful. Being overweight and pain in your body….. it is hard. I so relate. ❤️
I enjoy watching your videos so much and love your no BS attitude. Thank you so much for saying what I needed to hear so often.
I have been off WW for many years, but until discovering the book Intuitive Eating, was still thinking in terms of points. I felt massively guilty for eating anything I knew would be high in points. I even lost my appetite for “zero point” foods even though I previously enjoyed fruits and veggies. It’s like I craved anything that the plan considered high points…like my body was rebelling or something? The first time I went on WW it really worked for me, but now I realize it put me on a path of 10+ years of disordered eating.
I think we gets expensive. If you already know the plan just do it again. I enjoy all your videos and cooking ones. Thanks for all you do!
Girl I think you look great, I started following you bc of WW and I started iTrackBites because of you. I still watch you bc I just love you!! It would be awesome if you would want to go back to ww but I understand if you just don’t wanna do that. I tried keto but it just wasn’t maintainable for me, I have 3 young kids and a husband who like to eat carbs lol and not unhealthy stuff it’s just they like “balance” and so if I decide to eat a carb bc if it’s around and that craving comes I am weak girl lol and I gain weight back so easy. So I’ve been doing ww but do it with lower carbs, more proteins and good carbs. Then if it is zero food I just eat a serving, bc I have to get my mind in check. It seems to work better for me and if I decided to have a “cheat meal” I don’t gain a ton of weight from one meal. I do like how I feel on a lower carb diet tho and low sugar/sugar free, and my family eats a lot of sugar free deserts and healthy carbs that I make in ww and they aren’t even aware of it haha. I also found with keto it made me sick to my stomach it was like to much fat for me or something, and plus I like to eat and I know a lot of ppl do so good on keto bc they only eat like 2 meals bc The fat holds them which is great but when my kids eat I’m going to which is a problem I have and
I’m working on it but now I’ll just try to get a veggie or fruit. While they eat their cheese it’s or something, I wish I could do keto but it just doesn’t seem to be realistic for my season of life right now. Portion control and healthy choices seem to be the thing right now for me. But you do you girl I’ll still be here
WW! I can’t completely give up carbs so Keto is a no for me. WW is the only plan that works for me. Nothing is off limits. I am currently doing an older WW plan, points plus.
Thank you for this video. You are such an ongoing inspiration and i just love your spirit. You have helped me so much with so many different aspects of keto and weight loss and I just feel happy watching you. Happy Sunday to you and your sweet family.
Very interesting review! I follow ww, on maintenance mode, and eat very similarly to you. I generally stay within the points for maintaining weight. I do measure my peanut butter, and on occasion, weigh foods to reacquaint myself with a healthy portion size, but otherwise eat mindfully and intuitively. The biggest change for me was kicking my nighttime sugar habit. Also I’m weighing myself weekly now instead of daily multiple times. I love my virtual ww workshop, and I actually like tracking. Nevertheless, I value your comments! So interesting that you feel so differently than I do about ww.
I did WW for *decades*. I must have lost 1000 pounds losing that same 20 pounds over and over. It just wasn’t working for me. I became obsessed with what could I have next to eat because I always felt hungry. I watched others in there losing weight and I felt like I had a defect.
I lost 75 pounds on the first round of low carb and then life happened. I am an emotional eater and our family went through some really tough times. I knew I wanted to get back to low carb but I struggled so hard and just couldn’t “get there” again. And I found truth in the saying “things will get worse before they get better.” In the past year our youngest has been diagnosed and hospitalized for bipolar and suicidal thoughts. She had intensive therapy and she convinced me to see a therapist as well. So this round I have approached it mentally (handling the crisis without food and with support), medically (both our cardiologist and primary physician are on board, and I have my head in a good place. I am back on board again and doing well. Low Carb/Keto works for me.
I think Oprah does WW. In her commercial she always saying she can eat bread (carbs). I was on Atkins and they also say you can add carb slowly back into ur diet…Ive learned since doing Keto that i have carb issues. Carb make me crave more carbs and more carbs to the point of gaining 50lbs. since doing keto i lost those 50 lbs. So at the moment i like my Keto way of eating. WW seems to hard for me. Thanks for ur video.
I have tried keto probably 5 or 6 times. I stick with it hardcore for the first like 3 or 4 months and then just…freak out. Not sure how else to describe it lol I’ll cheat “once” and then just always fall off completely. I felt deprived. I felt sad not being able to enjoy the foods I always enjoyed, yes even if they were bad. I missed having fun snacks on road trips and going out to eat with friends and having little options. It just wasn’t sustainable for me EVEN THO it was working. I felt good physically and was enjoying my results but in the end, the mental part got to me. Today I signed up for WW and am excited to give it a try. I bought apples today and am thrilled lol. I know itll be slower results but I think for me personally, itll be better mentally. I never planned on doing keto for life. I know for a fact theres no way I can go without the foods I like to enjoy once in a while. So I feel like even if I got to my goal weight and went off keto, I’d gain most of the weight back, even eating healthy. So just not sustainable for me.
I’ve had the same issues. It worked but I felt so frustrated on stressful days as I was always counting (which is sooo time consuming and makes everything even more stressful). Also in days where I’ve been super active (half-Marathon) I’d feel exhausted and light headed with the restricted food choices. And when I stopped the weight would come back.
Itrack bites has it where you can track macros with your points or if you want to watch calories too. It’s been really helping me
WW is a great program for those who struggle with portion control and healthy choices. WW taught me how to make decisions and control how much I consumed during the day. A great guideline in my opinion.
I’ve tried Weight Watchers a couple of times over the years. I did lose weight but did not keep it off. I felt like my focus was on food constantly. That was not healthy for me. Right now I’m just trying to focus on eating better foods and only eating until I feel satisfied. If I need to eat a few chips I do just that…a few. It seems to be working for me.
I totally agree with you! I recently went from Keto to WW. Finding myself doing both after I figured out why I was having keto stomach problems. Now I do super enzyemes that have helped break down fats, carbs, protein. Now I am doing both.. I can’t go bk to breads with WW. Thank you
So interesting! I have done both also. Everyone has to find their own way. You go girl!
Thnx Daniela! You’re one of my favorite you tubers because you keep it real.
I did WW for a week and it stressed me out so bad. I agree with this review 100%. This is not a healthy way to lose weight. This is t necessary healthy way of eating
Thanks for the review! It helps to have another point of view. I’ve been doing WW for a few months and it has helped me with some things, but didn’t with others. I have to monitor and listen to myself. In my opinion, a WW is just a tool, and it’s to each person to use it as they feel fitted. You still have to work on yourself outside of the app. So, again thanks for the review and for the tips along the way
Please let me know what kinds of recipes you would like to have! Which diet has worked for you?
My best friend lost 90lbs on WW so I gave it a try…twice. I tried for the first time two years ago before my wedding and…I gained 15 pounds I decided to give it another go in February of this year, and I’ve gained 20 pounds since starting this program I think it definitely has some good aspects. My issue with it is that for me on Blue I had 23 points. As far as the app was concerned it didn’t make a difference if I used all of my 23 points on fast food or on healthy food. I know how to eat right and maintain a really healthy diet, so I’m not sure how I managed to gain weight twice on this program The online coaches are unhelpful and only provide generic answers. I wish there was more of a focus on eating healthy and integrating physical activity rather than on earning the dots.
See, I’ve had a really positive experience with WW. I’m on the purple plan, so I get 23 points a day, and whole grains are zero points, in addition to fruits, veggies, lean protein, etc.. It actually helped me break one of my food rules around pasta, because I LOVE whole grain and chickpea pasta, but always considered it a “bad” food. Now I have pasta at least once a week, whenever I feel like it.
I never really dealt with feeling hungry, but I have health issues that cause loss of appetite, so being reminded to not skip meals or eat way under my points is helpful.
I do intuitive eating as well-if I go over points, no big deal. And I’ve always found I’m very satisfied eating a lot of the “healthy” type foods for the most part, so satisfaction hasn’t been an issue for me.
And some weeks, I skip tracking all together. Sometimes I get bored or too stressed by other life things, so I just don’t track. And that’s cool too!
“My daughter got married in November”… you look like you’re 30! Thanks for a great video. Been keto-ish since COVID-19 hit because I was struggling to stick to WW, but now considering going back!
I would have liked to see her review while doing the WW purple plan instead of blue. Since there are so many more 0 point foods on purple, like yogurt, oatmeal, pasta, rice, chicken, popcorn, etc. I think those foods were a lot of the foods that made her go over her points target. I think that would have been a better plan for her eating habits and maybe she would have not had such a negative relationship with it. Also, she didn’t have a good understanding of weekly points and how they are designed to be eaten within your plan as well as the activity points you earn.
I’ve always had bad luck with WW (and I’ve tried going back numerous times). For me, my maintenance calories are 3100 calories, but when I do weight watchers, there are days that my intake is 1,000 calories! That and, because their weights are based around BMI, my goal weight is always “too high” for the system (but their suggested weight would be me literally at skin and bones).
I know it works for many! But it doesn’t work for all…
I also agree with your thoughts about focusing on numbers. At the height of my disordered eating, was the one time I was deep in WW. I can vividly remember all of my containers in the fridge with sticky notes on them (with points) and writing out points on food the moment they came in the front door from the grocery store. The guilt game was strong too (meaning the binge became high, because binging and purging was something I could control).
The point is to lose weight. Yes, your meals are healthful choices, but no one is going to lose weight on them. Also, it can’t work if you don’t plan.
Taco salad looked amazing! I did WW 20 years ago with my mom and I thought the program was a lot more simple. We really liked it back then. I really like your input about listening to your body. Thank you so much!!
1200 hundred calories a day is starvation and is not sastanibal
I love you, friend!! Thank you for always keeping it real! You’re the best! ❤❤❤
are you analyzing the diet as for someone that has to loose weight!
Thank you for your honest review. However by only doing the plan for one day, you may have missed some of the ideas and tools the my WW plan brings to the table.Full disclosure, I have been on WW and have lost over 120 lbs. One thing I have learned is that WW is not a diet. I feel I have learned how to eat healthier for the long haul. If you look at the zero point food list you will see they are made up of lean proteins, fruits, vegges, beans and some whole grains. There is more to WW than just points. They also stress you mindset and how our attitudes effect out outcome. They also encourage exercise. In fact, you also earn extra points by being active. So even though you ate more than 23 points the day you tracked, you probably earned several “fit points” that same day. My guess is that what you tracked was probably very in line with what your daily points, plus your fir points would have been for that day. I do agree with what you say about being satisfied. That is very important too. I just wanted to let you and your viewers know there is a bit more to the program that what you experienced in your one day trial.
I’ve been on and off Weight Watchers since 1969! (Yes, I’m THAT old lol!). In the old days, the diet was very strict and not always tasty. (You could make fake cookies using your powdered milk allotment for the day and shaved apple-blechh! ). Throughout the years, I’d be on WW, lose weight, hit my goal, then eventually gain it all back (and more). I really did start thinking of points more than nutrition. Also, WW kept changing their programs and point system, which was frustrating to me.
My last WW experience was a few years ago. I lost 40 pounds, and yes, gained it back. It was like a massive craving for “bad foods” came roaring back as soon as I hit my goal weight. I’m trying now to stay away from any sort of counting, because I know that if I “go over” my daily limit, I’ll just think, “What the heck, I’ve already blown it, I might as well eat whatever I want.”
I am so freaking excited. I just personally messaged you on Insta back girl. Yayyy I love weight watchers
Does Custokebon Secrets really work? I see a lot of people keep on speaking about Custokebon Secrets. But I’m not sure if it is good enough to lost lots of fat.
Hey girl, it’s been a minute since I commented on your videos. I had tried Low carb/ keto several times in the last couple of years. Me, my mom and my daughter (19) decided to join WW this year, and so far we are loving it. I am on the green plan which I here is like the old plan, which I think that’s what you did when you were on it. So far I have lost 8.2 pounds in the last 3 weeks and am enjoying all the foods that I couldn’t have and less expensive. But you do have to find what works for you. .. sometimes I go back and watch your Vlogs from when you were on WW..
I’m on the purple plan. I love it. I’m losing 2-3 pounds a week since mid January. I’m Vegetarian so the purple plan gives me 300 zero point foods (but I would say about a quarter of them are meat or fish) but because I have so many 0pts I only get 16 points per day, but I can have a whole salad and only count points for the dressing. Potatoes and whole grain pasta are zero points as well so the idea is make the body of your meals with zero point foods and adding point to meals with flavors. I noticed she didnt use the barcode scanner. Helps a lot add food quickly. She also used pb which is high in points but pb2 (the dried pb) is 1pt per serving.
I would love to see a review on keto. It really messed with me and I want to hear your opinion on the good, bad and ugly of keto.
i started weight watchers when i was 11 wish i never did i developed issues with binging and gained more weight than i feel i would have without it
I lost about 135lbs with WW a couple of years ago. Even became a coach and worked for ww for about 2 years. Sucked all my energy out. but thats just a sidenote.:D
I kept the weight off for about 2,5 years before starting to gain again. And in the end I gained almost everything back. WW is a diet. No matter what they call it.
I was 13 when I first tried WW, did LA Weightloss I’ve tried it all over the years. I’d have some success but IMO nothing compares to Keto. The weightloss part is great but how I feel is AMAZING!!!
PS I did really good with the thrift store shopping today, got 3 pairs of American Eagle jeans for $12.75 and in a size 14 haven’t seen that size in years!!!
I think it depends on what works for you. I do low carb but I don’t do keto but I don’t bash it because it works for many. What works for anyone is whether they can maintain it long term and I could not maintain keto over the long term. There is a guy who has a lot of good content, etc but I don’t follow him, not because he’s keto but because he bashed all other diets, WW, paleo, vegan, etc and keto is the only way to eat. Ticked me off. What works for one doesn’t work for all. I’ve seen WW who don’t lose and do great on another program, I’ve seen keto people who really aren’t losing and do better on other diets.
“Crack is whack!” But candy is dandy and that’s the whole problem.
You know, I felt the same way you were feeling. I am trying to stop counting my calories and it makes it so hard for me because I still want to lose a few pounds. But I am so tired of restriction and binge eating. I need some help. Thank you for this video btw. I enjoyed it
Since I suffer sugar addiction I want to follow the low carb but also with fruits. Because of my age I can’t be too strict. My phone is buffering a lot the video but I really would love your opinion. I have an app for counting the carbs, I’m allowed 21. I am not adding the fruit but I’m allowing 2 fruits daily. The purpose of the app, for me, is to control starchy stuff.
I did weight watchers a few years ago, my aunt has been a leader for 15+ years. It was one of the older programs, and I couldn’t get around some of the “free” foods, like diet sodas, which you could have as many as you wanted because they had zero calories.
There were other things, like corn had a ton of points, but cool whip and jello had basically none. It didn’t make sense to me, and your description of “tetris-ing” foods was accurate.
I did lose 40 pounds, but a lot of that was because I also joined a high intensity boot camp, and I skipped meals regularly (single mom of 2 at the time), and I gained it back plus more over the next few years.
WW IS A WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM. All you did was show us you don’t like restriction. If WW has worked for you, congrats! Please don’t listen to a person who never struggled with obesity and only did the diet for a day, smh.
I joined WW last month so I’m fairly new but I have tracked macros for years so I’m not new to weighing foods and counting calories but I just have to say I will be deleting WW and sticking with Cronometer. You said everything I have been thinking. WW can actually be very detrimental to someone’s relationship with food and cause negative perceptions of food which is not good. For example WW HATES higher fat items even healthy fats!! A serving of natural peanut butter (2 tbsp) is 6 points! The app loves diet foods and fat free foods which I’m not okay with consuming on a daily basis. Fat free yogurt.. fat free cheese… fat free ground turkey.. no way. Yes WW will cause weight loss absolutely, but that is not the argument here. If you only care about weight loss alone then great WW is a solid option for individuals that have no idea about portion control or caloric intake then you can learn a thing or two from WW but… will I remain a member?? No. My relationship with food is more important than weight loss. And to mention I’ve lost weight just fine by eating proper portions, loosely intermittent fasting, drinking plenty of water, eating mindfully, and watching my consumption of processed foods
REVIEW FAIL,, Sorry but you weren’t using the app right!
Your review was WAAAY off because you weren’t aware of a very important point tool called the ACTIVITY TRACKER which gives you additional points for exercising since people have different levels of activity. You didn’t spend adequate time to become familiar with the app so you didn’t know about it. WW So let’s say you run 3 miles per day, you would have a lot more points each day.
To do a fair review, it might have been better to do it for at least 3 days and take time to really understand the app. By then you would have learned about the activity tracker and bonus exercise points. Since you weren’t aware of the activity points, you’re review wasn’t really accurate.
I’m a WW lifetime member WW isn’t perfect by any means, but I do want to point out that as a person already at a healthy weight, you would have been assigned more points than you ate that day. Also, you are able to add points for the running that you did I did the math and with those two additions, your 36 points was probably spot on!
I had 6 extra daily points when I was breastfeeding. It is so hard now that I dropped the 6 points as I have stopped BFing. I have been successful with the program but I miss my oatmeal and peanut butter. They are better for you than sugarfree BS. Also, my all natural peanut butter is more points than crap with added oils
I think probably a first mistake here is the amount of points you got for allowance is low….I think you should have chosen maintenance which would have given you 28. Second they ENCOURAGE. Using your weekly points and also fit points if you’re working out and require more. Personally WW has help with my bingeing and restricting. I’m not sure that a 1 day review of this is really sufficient?? Also I think maybe really understanding the program and how it works before using it is more responsible to do before making this review.
I found this video incredibly irritating. Weight Watchers isn’t designed for people who can listen to their bodies and find success. Some of our bodies are telling us to eat a dozen chocolate chip cookies. You were ill informed on the program and didn’t consider the needs of Weight Watcher’s target audience. Most of us already have an unhealthy relationship with food! Your review is irresponsible and a disservice to your watchers. No one who’s successful on Weight Watchers goes about it the way you did. We calculate and alter what we eat to make healthier choices throughout the day. We do not eat whatever and then calculate the points. I am very satisfied and rarely hungry. If you’re hungry on Weight Watchers, you’re doing it wrong.
When it comes to eating healthy, you have to never fall victim to modern fad diet plans. Extreme diet plans are a risk for your health, especially ones that seriously limit your daily nutritionary intake. While they may induce fast weight loss, these diet plans are never a long-term answer for your weight problem. It is best to check out Custokebon Secrets on google since it is not just another fad diet where you starve yourself.
I think Weight Watcher’s might be a good way to transition from strict calorie counting to intuitive eating, but I don’t think it should be the goal or a lifelong way of eating.
I just LOVED the minute 1112 of the video! So true and I could totally feel you on that!!
I’m too lazy to count… My main focus right now is making better choices. KETO fits my lifestyle.
Most of the recipes on your website, for example the granolas use no oil and you said in your description of the recipe that it you prefer home granola then store bought granola because it is lower in calories. I was just thinking why would someone like you who preaches no food rules be worried about calories especially when you are naturally slim
My brother is doing a “low carb” thing, he lost so much weight! If I had a comparison picture a lot of people would be impressed!
Edit: This video is also inspirational and informal! I actually learned something from it!
Thanks for the videoyou made a lot good points. But it would have been nice if you took more time to really understand the program before reviewing it.
This is pretty disingenuous as you didn’t really try it and your few days didn’t show the complete WW package ie you can get points for exercise if you want + weekly points. And remember most people on WW are not already a healthy weight like you so we start on a much higher rate of points and then learn how to eat healthily if we could eat intuitively we would have gotten fat in the first place. Disappointing to see such a glib and shallow video from a dietitian.
Vegan lifestylers are the only folks that will always talk really bad about people that eat meat.
I was keto minded, now over the last few weeks, I’ve been leaning toward WW. I think they all work, ADF, WW, and Keto. It depends on what is sustainable for the person.
The purple plan has whole grains, veggies, fruit, lean proteins, and some dairy are all zero points. WW also promotes mindfulness while eating. You will undereat if you do not dip into roll over points, weekly points, or fit points. With these other points which it did not seem like you fully explored, you can be satiated. I think you need to try these plans for a week or so. Attend a meeting so the plan can be explained fully to you.
SO ANGRY WITH YOUR REVIEW!!!!! First of all how can you give an honest review if you didn’t actually read and learn about the program…you just went with what you preconceived and what you half-read. The biggest error you did is that you get fit points so the carbs and fats that are good for you and that your body needs are easily covered by your exercise points these points are to encourage you to exercise. Also the 35 weekly points are to cover other indulgences or special meals or eating out through out the week. The free zero point foods are to encourage fruit and veggies over other foods, which you hardly looked into. As well if you had looked further into the program and researched it, I would assume since you don’t suffer from portion control problems, you exercise regularly, your educated in nutrition, you’re probably not trying to lose weight and you probably don’t over eat unhealthy carbs, the purple plan would be the plan for you. REGARDLESS of what plan you were on if you aren’t trying to lose weight then you should have set your app to “maintenance mode” where by you would have been granted additional points. You cannot truly “try out” a program and give an honest review if: 1) you aren’t an actual person trying to lose weight 2) you aren’t really following it because you didn’t actually read about what you were supposed to do
You should switch your app to green you have more daily points you also have weekly points and fit points you can use, when you got your snack you use a zero point snack like apples, or eggs so ww is trying to help make you think of the choices you make, being a healthier choice, looks like you had a very good choices in your food and you have a good weight, and I agree with the intuitive eating but you still need to make a healthier choice can you have a brownie, of course, but not 10 brownies that is where you use the weekly points is for a brownie or something else you might want, one day on ww does not give you a complete picture of the whole program, it is gearing you to make healthy choices and your body will respond and you do not ever have to deprive your self or be hungry on ww it is a tool to teach you how to make the healthy choices and teaches you to eat the healthy whole foods, if you have a weight problem, we is a tool that can help, it’s not a fad diet, that you are deprived of food
Amazon has everything, plus the items are generally lower priced compared to store prices.
Honestly there is a reason that everyone who has been doing weight watchers for years is overweight. Especially Oprah. So it’s no mystery to me why WW is finally tanking. About time really.
Girl you look . I’ve been keto for almost 2 years now and I absolutely love it. I never judge anyone else’s lifestyle or talk shit about other people’s diets because what works for me might not work for others.:) love the video!
Loved this! While I haven’t done WW I did do Beachbody’s portion fix and felt the same. Would love for you to review that too!
Lady you have no idea what your even talking about WW is a saint if anything & has help many also counting my self to have the exact opposite of what your saying…I now have a healthy eating relationship with food…you’ve got WW all wrong…best of luck on shaming life changing programs like WW that helps millions become more healthy & more Conscience of what there putting into their bodies so they can live their best lives
I just rejoined WW because I hit major plateaus in keto and found myself cheating! I was hoping to find a middle ground because of my pcos I need to focus on low carbs. Thank you for posting this
Interesting video. I do think you could have done a little bit more research though. You can actually claim back points for exercise. For example, I get 3 points back if I walk for 30 minutes. I assume it would be more if you ran in the morning! Personally I’ve lost 20 pounds overall. I love the points system, it works for me!
In my opinion you did not give this a fair assessment. I do not think that any program is perfect but I think when helping others to decided on something you need to first inform yourself. It would have been helpful if you did the research and try to fully understand each plan. Also there are various articles explaining different aspects of the program. It would have helped to research what your zero point foods were and meal plan around that. I am on weight watchers. It has helped me become aware of the types of foods I was eating and the frequency in which I was eating them. I make better choices. Don’t get me wrong I still have fast food burgers, Chinese, pizza, etc. But I plan for them. I do not deny myself those foods that I love but I practice more moderation. Weight Watchers market itself more as a lifestyle which means that the these habits you would continue once you reach your goal weight. Once you do that you go into maintenance which means your points are charged from weight loss mode to maintaining. I am not saying this program is right for everyone, but doing the research before going into it would give your assessment a better footing. Also trying it for more than just a day would have also been better. Not just for this program but for any program.
A one day experience is insufficient. I’ve lost 37 pounds. Most importantly, I’ve broken my binge eating cycle and learned how to
make better choices.
Yes she is right absolutely right because you fight from hunger and it’s best for all over weight humans early dinner and late breakfast even you hv three meals and snack in a day till dinner
I love this concept. I just signed up for WW last week and I did purple because it seemed more whole foods focused and that’s how I like to eat. So far it’s been great. I’m breaking out of some unhealthy thought patterns around food and calorie counting. I think they did a good job of working three plans for a lot of different lifestyles. It was well thought out in my opinion.
THE SMOOTHIE DIET is a revolutionary new life-transformation system that not only guarantees to help you lose weight and feel better than you have in years, it also promises to eliminate more body fat faster than anything you’ve tried before. https://healthlifechannel.com/smoothie-diet/
If I ate all that I think I would definitely gain weight. WW is for losing and you have to try and make a lifestyle change for it to work, not just do what you were already doing. I appreciate this but dont find it totally helpful. It’s true carbs are good for you but you can’t eat a lot of them if you are trying to lose weight which is not really what you are doing with this diet you had! If you like eating more carbs you should mention you can switch plans that allow for more points and different 0 calorie foods!
You are absolutely right girl! Any diet will work regardless what it is. It’s all about consistency and not giving up when you have a bad day. I love you girl!
I have been overweight my whole life. My first time with WW was as a kid. It was never successful for me. As an adult I did like the points because I could eat normal foods, but if I wanted something complicated I couldn’t be bothered to figure out the points. I always wanted spaghetti, but I had to figure out the meat, the noodles, the sauce…that I never would eat it because it was too hard to figure out. I’m still new in the intuitive eating but I think it makes the most sense….
What if I fast for 18 hours cut out sugar as much as possible in just eat chicken broccoli steak in like shrimp an rice
i feel like this woman would make a great news anchor. a lot of emphasis in the words, head movements, and facial expressions
Is intermittent fasting heart healthy? I’m a heart patient.
I’ve tried WW in the past. I would strictly stick with it 1-2 weeks. Then, I would stop because I was so hungry all the time that I would binge eat everything in my sight. It was challenging having to count points and meal plan all the time. I felt horrible if I went just 1 point over my target daily points. I know WW has worked wonderfully for others, and I’m happy that it works for others, but it wasn’t a good fit for me. I’ve tried counting calories as well but that can get to being a chore as well. I would focus so much on the numbers and not enough on what I was actually putting in my body for nourishment. Thank you for this video!
Thank you for posting this. For so long I felt WW was the only way. In the last couple months I have been trying to focus on intuitive eating and stopping myself from having food rules. I loved what you said about being full vs being satisfied. I was so tired of being in the cycle of being on WW and getting off and binge eating. I felt there has to be more to life. I was missing out on going out with friends (when we could actually leave the house) because I needed to save points for a different event later in the week. I will finally be able to not stress out about an unplanned meal out. Please keep the videos coming.
Loved the video… to be fair, If you exercise you get fit points that you are allowed to eat. My WW is designed for complete beginners who at most times don’t know basic nutrition and aren’t very active. I tried it myself for a month and i will be honest…. it wasnt for me! I completely agree with your points. WW SUPER demonizes a lot of food including fats which generally do make me feel great. I do count carbs and try to stay under 100G but for the most part i am much happier and have a better mindset with food doing things this way
Oh my God I had to stop your video and laugh for about 5.. you are hilarious you’re right we do not want a crack Burger.. I love to watch your videos you are so on it.. have a blessed Sunday take care my friend ♥️
I have a friend who has gone from a size 18 to a size 12 through weight watchers and she sings praise about them non stop: HOWEVER, she has been following the WW plans for a year and has recently been discussing the obsession she has had with losing weight, as the constant check-ins and praise they get for losing is extremely gratifying. She recently ate nowhere near enough calories because she was so focussed on losing more weight and passed out while doing general daily activities, and recognised that it was due to her wanting to lose more weight. As someone who suffered with anorexia for 3 years I am super not into any schemes where there are “weigh ins” and gratification in the form of groups gratifying you when you lose weight, it seems really damaging and I feel like it isn’t so much mindful thinking as it is just micro management on your diet. I’m super happy for her because she feels so much better and looks so much happier, but I would still never touch that sort of thing myself. I feel like they can lead to disordered eating behaviours.
Love your review. WW definitely started a cycle of disordered eating and yoyo dieting. Also I never forget, when I was in school for Nutrition I went to a WW location to see if I could get a part time job (because I was on it at the time and thought it would be good experience while I was in school) they said they only hired people who were attending meetings for x amount of time. So they don’t want nutrition professionals working there, just people who have fully drank the artificially sweetened kool-aid. I am included a link about my WW experience and how angry I am about their kurbo program. Love this idea of RD giving honest feedback on these diets https://badassladygang.com/blog/50r7kahwe7npgg7q8bbi220t1mngkp
My mom talked me into joining Weight Watchers when I was 13 years, which was 1985, so there weren’t points then; and lost maybe 25 lbs. I joined again when I was 23, then their program was “fat & fiber” and I lose hardly any weight. I joined after I got married at 25, that was their first version of the points system, and I lost 55 lbs. I gained it all back and more, my mom told me it was because I baked a peach pie and eat too much of it. LOL. (No anger at my mom, she is just following the diet rules she has believed her enter life and her entire has a series of one diet after another). I have joined WW at least 5 more times since my 55 lbs, with little success.
I like that WW is real food and encourages healthy foods. However what I realized is that on WW I constantly thought about food, worrying if it was good or bad, how many points did I have left and feeling guilty if I went over. I got depressed when I thought about having to do that for the my rest of my life. I have just barely started Intuitive Eating, but this what I have been looking for my entire life.
I actually came back to this video because I have another recommendation to dig into. The hospital system in my hometown of good ol Sioux Falls, SD, has a “Weight Loss and Health Coaching” program called Sanford Profile ( https://www.profileplan.com/). It has now spread to most states, to my understanding. You have a “coach,” who just needs a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, 6 months prior experience with wellness, fitness, and/or nutrition programs preferred, and to maintain a “Profile Coach Certification”, whatever that is.
It is mostly ran off of shakes, kind of based off of keto, but the kicker is that they have their own food ( https://food.profileplan.com/). They claim it is supposed to ease you back into a more “normal diet,” for lack of a better explanation. And, as someone who was on it, their “food” blows hahaha their shakes taste pretty good, and so do their protein bars. However I think it is interesting that they have created a whole line of “safe food” to basically capitalize on your wallet and insecurities. But like to sign up you need to buy their scale and “bridge” which connects every reading to your phone and your coach wirelessly and yeah. That’s really all I can say about that. I would love to chat with you if you want to know more!
I am on WW (blue plan) and so far I have lost 103.1 lbs. Yay!
Keto forever. Since July, I have lost 50 lbs and I am so surprised how I do not miss bread or sweets. WW never worked for me.
The one thing I really love about you is your honesty AND how you are not knocking other diets. Me personally this is not a diet for me this is a life style change. I’ve tried WW, Vegan, and been doing Keto for 19 months. Happy Sunday
My mom lost a TON of weight on WW but it didn’t work for me. I felt restricted and the stress of counting points and all that with four small kids was just too much. Keto is working for me. I’m not stressed about eating or what to eat (thanks to you ) The meetings were the best but you and the keto You Tube community are my support group!! Losing weight IS hard and it takes dedication and willpower especially when my family is pushing “crack burgers” at every family function!!
Thanks for the pep talk and giggles ❤️❤️❤️
I personally don’t think anyone who’s had an unhealthy relationship (specifically with not eating enough) with food do any type of calorie counting, i guess unless it’s for health reasons. You look healthy and active and not trying to lose weight, most people who are on weight watchers are overweight, therefore have to be in a calorie deficit to achieve a healthier weight for there size, I’d say weight watchers makes that easier for those people. I personally don’t think anyone should be in a calorie deficit/tracking everything for more than 30 days, for a mental break and to give your body a rest. I’m 5’2 and naturally curvy, Im at a healthy weight for my frame and don’t really calorie count unless I’m trying to look good for a vacation or notice some weight gain (and i don’t think there is anything wrong that) but I’ve learned so much from calorie counting an different apps! when I gained weight in my early twenties because i could no longer eat whatever i wanted without gaining weight, and sure one, two even five pounds is no biggie (to me personally) but 10-15 pounds, about 145 pounds for a 5’2 woman doesn’t just lower your confidence because jeans won’t fit anymore but it’s considered overweight and unhealthy, I respect your opinion, and I see where you are coming from, but at the same time, I don’t think you can fully give an honest opinion if you’re not trying to lose weight.
I AM DOING BOTH TOO… WEIGHT WATCHERS YOU CAN HAVE EGGS AND CHICKEN AND ZERO POINTS… CAUILFLOWER AND ZUCCHINI… ARE GREAT… AND I SAVE MY POINTS FOR THE FATS… YOU GO GIRL… I LOST A LITTLE OVER 9 POUNDS THIS PAST WEEK….
Omg! That’s my mom she has no filter in her beautiful mouth!!!! LoL that’s how I grew up but it was my mom.
I have tried WW many times and gained weight more than I lost. Now it makes since to me since doing some blood testing through my Dr and I’ve got insulin resistance. I’ve known I’ve got PCOS for a while which a lot of times IR goes hand in hand. I reallllllly do have to watch my carb intake or I blow up like a balloon. If WW works for someone, great. Just not for me as much as I’d love it to be because…. lol!
Also, Weight Watchers isn’t diabetic friendly. They said they couldn’t really give me a plan…. agh.
Intermittent Fasting does work but I find it very hard! I need my tea and coffee after I wake up and I want a dash of milk in it:P
I feel better and look better at 51 than I did at 31. Low carb is what works for my body. I love to cook so I enjoy making foods substitutes for my faves. I did WW and had success but I had started to use my points for carbs and felt blah and ended up gaining weight plus back. With doing low carb/keto I have learned more about my body and how certain foods affect me and my gut health.
Everyone has to do them.
From the moment my eyes opened in the morning I would become obsessed with my points. I would do weird diet calculus and bargain with myself on what I would allow myself to eat. Even though WW tries to encourage you to eat more healthy, my addictive brain would convince me to eat lower point junk.
I’m just starting back on WW. Keto worked for 8 months then my body was like hell no! I’m desperate.
Hi! I was just talking to a friend who doesn’t like WW, for me it’s helped a ton with my binge eating and gave me a better relationship with food (: but when we actually started talking she does really good with intuitive eating where I do not. Intuitive eating sends me into a bad spiral. I also know that if I’m having a strong craving I will just eat it, so for me it gave me a healthier approach to food. I lost over 50 lbs (:
I’ve done both and like both but for me… WW is more sustainable long term. When I did keto I would be 100% off or %100 on and it was a roller coaster. I live a real life and felt like I was missing out eating certain things and life is too damn short for that. Eat the cake, but a small amount. Move the eff on. I’m finally getting the will power down and eating in moderation. I feel like food has less control over me now with WW. When I did keto it was too strict. Both work but for me, I can’t deny myself because then I want it more.
Think both can work. But also think WW provides too many options to eat un healthy food. Where Keto is 100 percent whole food. Still think Keto with leafy greens, and other low carb veggies is important. Keto is popular because it works. Would also say paleo is open because is works. But while I dont think Weight watchers needs to encourage only keto, I do think either having a low carb / high fat plan or not having healthy fats cost so many points, could be beneficial. Also would assume paleo and ww combined could acutely already work too.
Keto is easier for me. Down 20, 70 to go enjoying your videos
I lost 90 pounds & I’ve been a Lifetime member of WW for 10 years now. So when you say it “doesn’t work” that’s not true. It does work. I’m not a minority. There are many others like me. I absolutely love WW, and it has added SO much positivity to my life. You are missing A LOT of what WW actually is & all it encompasses. You tracked your food for ONE day. Aside from not actually understanding the food portion of the program, you are totally missing out on everything else that is WW. I could go on, but I digress.
Omg i love that i found u ❤❤❤❤i love ww points plus i do itracbites and i wanna comebind it with low carbs tomorrow will be my new day im gonna try 20 net carbs
I was subscribed to you for awhile when I was on keto and somehow got kicked! I tried to find you again and just couldn’t remember your channel name for the life of me! But I just started WW and I’m SO glad I just found this video!!! Idec abt weight loss! I just missed your personality! Haha Glad to be back!
WW definitely had some positive impacts but I know that I was for sure starting to slip into these negative behaviors. For example, I reach for healthier snacks more often (snacks that would be considered “0 points”) on the plan, but more so because I feel better eating that way. But I don’t feel bad for adding some peanut butter to my apple anymore.
You were so correct on not getting enough fuel to exercise. I quit WW after having to lay on my floor in the middle of a workout a couple of weeks ago and realizing I was just not getting enough fuel.
I’m on WW and love it so so so much! It really gave me a good base and taught me new habits!
Did you stick with the combo? Ive done both programs, but found it very difficult to stick with Keto long term. I’m curious if you had success combining the two.
I don’t understand how you can be hungry after all of the things your had for breakfast and lunch. Especially the oatmeal that’s really filling.
Former lifetime member of WW and I changed to a keto lifestyle. When I hit 45, WW stopped working for me. We tried everything. My cholesterol was high, my bp was high, my glucose was high and I was doing everything “right”. I switched to keto and weight came off, I’m off cholesterol meds and my bloodwork is beautiful, to quote my doctor. Everyone’s body is made up differently and their journey will be different. Get your gut flora healthy, don’t eat inflammatory foods and stick to a lifestyle that makes you feel great inside and out. I’ll never bash another’s choice but for me and my house we will stick to our keto lifestyle.
I would’ve loved to have seen you use your free points. Your plan was specifically lower points with more zero point foods. You could eat fruit or chicken for free, you could’ve also logged your running for more points. I honestly feel as if there wasn’t a great understanding of the program. I also think saying”I need to look into that more” constantly isn’t what you should be saying. Ppl that are actually seeking out the program do a lot of research to understand it, so I honestly feel like you should’ve done the same before reviewing. Just some criticism going forward as I feel not understanding a program completely and ALL of its features and then reviewing it isn’t super fair.
On keto I was able to bring my a1c down to a nondiabetic level and keep it there. My endocrinologist took me off all diabetes medications and said that I didn’t need him anymore. He went from being against keto to reccomending it to others.
I’ve been on KETO for 3 yrs.. I’m 78 years old and have lost 83 lbs. I have not quite reached goal weight. I’m really struggling the last few months and have gained about 10 lbs. I’m really afraid that I’m on the road to destruction. I’m really tired of the foods that I have most survived on for the last 3 years. I have 3 good friends (all are younger than me) that are on WW and are trying to convince me that it’s the healthier way to go. I just don’t know what to do, but I’m half convinced to give WW a try. I would love if there would be more discussion on WW vs KETO. 40 years ago I lost 100 lbs. on WW, as did my dad and my uncle but back in those days WW’s was nothing like it is TODAY. Had to eight fish at least 5 times a week and liver once a week so that tells you just how different it was.
I’m really confuse with starting the keto diet, where should I start? I need help thanks
Ive just quit weight watchers after being on it for a couple of months and I feel like you summed up my experience of it perfectly
I get how it can work for some people but I do feel it needs better safeguarding for disordered eating. While I was consistently losing weight on it, my body image and relationship with food had never been worse. (Think crying my eyes out because I binged on a tub of halotop and used too much of my weeklies despite still being under 1400 calories that day) Also they market it as a lifestyle change but do you really want to point everything you ever eat and weigh yourself weekly for the rest of your life?
I would just advise anyone considering it to be careful. You don’t have to have an active eating disorder to have a bad experience with ww
Keto all the way. For me, the health benefits seem to be the big payoff. I’m usually never hungry when I wake up in the am and as long as I don’t trigger the hunger by eating or drinking anything, I’m usually good until 1 pm. Last week was my first struggle week. Though I stayed Keto, the over indulgence of Fat Bombs and the l’il taste of Vodka (haven’t had a drink for a looong time) didn’t play nice with me. ☹️
yay! I’m doing something similar.. when I eat carbs I limit bread, sweets and most grains.. but am ok with getting carbs from veggies and small amt of fruit. I also don’t go out of my way to eat tons of saturated fat… it is all in moderation for sure!
OMG your “crack” analogy is on point!!!! you…it’s all about squashing excuses.
The thing with WW for me was I found myself cutting out a lot of foods that I loved, just because they were high in points. The big one was peanut butter! I would always say to myself “ugh, I can’t even eat this because it’s so high in points.” and I love peanut butter. It was weird being obsessed with points rather then what was actually going into my body. Thank you for this review!! It made me feel better about quitting WW.
I was thinking of doing the same thing! I have also lost on both plans. Consistency is where I fail. I find combing the two makes you do more of a low carb diet, rather than Keto. I will be watching to hear all your good suggestions. Good luck!
I’ve never tried WW, but after watching your video I’m glad I choose Noom over it. HOWEVER, you completely glossed over the fact that the WW Blue plan has a TON of zero-point foods that can be made into delicious meals… https://www.weightwatchers.com/us/blog/weight-loss/complete-zero-point-foods-list
How much weight were you able to lose on a weight loss plan you tried? Which plan?
I’m so happy to have found your post. I would love to be able to ask you a bunch of questions. Keto stopped working for me so I’m trying ww but with a keto twist.
Has anyone tried Custokebon Secrets? (do a search on google) We have noticed numerous awesome things about this popular fat burn diet plan.
I love your videos. Can you please review and share thoughts on intermittent fasting?
Well said, honest and real a definitely not a gimmick. Your grandma sounds like mine xx
I did WW and it is exactly as you said, you start seeing food as points and not nourishment that should be satisfying as well. It made me think how much WW would’ve poo-pooed (giving it way high points) my breakfast of overnight oats, my lunch of whole grain toast with avocado, feta and tomatoes and chicken orzo soup. It probably would’ve “liked” my dinner (a bowl of quinoa, roasted beets and acorn squash, spinach, feta and chickpeas) but blown me out of the water for the carrot-ginger almond butter dressing. And yet all of it was so good and satisfying but the WW points would’ve had me second guessing everything!
I haven’t commented in a long time, been watching youtube on tv instead of phone… but I’m back to comment to find out if you’ve tried the Aldi keto bread yet? Just tried it. Didn’t affect my blood glucose or ketones. Ima have a slice tomorrow with butter and cinnamon!
You look like a straight athlete. This means you can eat the stuff you did in this video and it won’t affect you. Let’s be real….Weight Watchers is NOT for people who have high metabolisms and in extremely good shape. They are for people who are sedentary and don’t make good life style choices or for people who in GENERAL just absolutely need to drop a a good amount of weight. It didn’t work for you because it’s not designed for you. Secondly, you barely put any research into the different plans. If you had looked at the app a little more, you would have known you could have just switched to the green plan which gives you substantially more points so you could eat that oatmeal with the peanut butter and the tuna sandwich. You also would have known that you get “weeklies” which are extra points allocated so you can enjoy what you want. You also would have known that you have fit points, which are points you earn by working out and can trade in for extra smart points. You were “confused” but it’s a fairly simply concept. Green has more points, but the lowest amount of zero point foods. Blue has a nice balance. Modest amount of points and a modest amount of zero point foods. Purple has the lowest amount of points but the most amount of zero point foods.
Yes, it’s real. Anything you learn in the “Kοnοnοz yyd” (Google it), eating plan guidebook. The 3 weeks I have dropped 7 lbs, 2.5 in off my very own waist and Two inches my hips Am 1 pants size smaller. Wonderful!
Weight watchers Has been a joke for so long, my parents wasted tons of time doing it and got nowhere
I feel like more research on the programs would have been helpful. You didn’t seek an understanding each plan and what daily/weekly points are, and only tried it for a few days. IMO not an informed review.
I agree with you! Trying to find a moderate way to incorporate a sustainable way of eating. I find it hard to have no carbs, trying to stay below 40, 20 is too strict for me.
I love this so much! I tried a free trial of WW about a month ago, and it totally triggered my old restrictive eating habits (I don’t even need to lose weight, I just wanted to eat more veggies and less processed foods). I love that you eat so many snacks like I do. This is so validating to me. I’ve really been trusting my body lately, and it’s so great. I’m learning what feels good to eat. So different. I love that. Thanks for doing what you do!!!
Thing is you don’t need keto eating to be in ketosisI lost 30 lbs in a low carb IF plan in 4 months while in ketosis, now since gallbladders sergury I cannot have most fats
Now thru WW and low carb I’m loosing my last 15, everyone has to do with what works for their body but lots of weight loss starts in your head not plans, not pills, supplements, shots
That is a very relevant analogy!
Losing weight is so hard!
We literally have to undo what we have been doing or I should say we have to relearn how to eat. For so many years I abuse my body by putting whatever I could get my hands on in it. I like how you say “you’re an adult say NO”
You should have logged your workout so you got fit points, that would have counted for many of those extra 13 points that you used and then only a couple would have been taken from your weekly points. Weekly points are just an extra bank of points to use as you see fit over the week. For instance some people use all their weeklies for one cheat day a week. Other people, like me, divide the points out per day. I get 42 weekly points so I divide them by 7 days and give myself an extra 6 points per day.
24 lbs on keto but feel like crap. Always stressed about being dehydrated and electrolights. Its way more work if you are doing right. I dont want to figure out my macros every day. Its not sustainable and I just dont feel good on it like everyone says. Expensive if your doing it right. All organic and grass fed meats.
Been doing keto for 3years now, I love it, will never go back to feeling hungry all the time, needing a nap every day, etc. The main thing I love most about keto is there’s nothing to buy, no “one size fits all”, it’s all up to you. When you take responsibility for you diet, you can do amazing things.
Hi, Dr. Majd! I’ve missed your videos. The way I try to “diet” is really not limiting my diet that much. I like to eat like that quote that’s attributed to Benjamin Franklin, “everything in moderation.” I’ve found that denying myself some of my favorite foods doesn’t really work well for me. For breakfast, I tend to eat steel cut oatmeal with fruit (either fresh berries or banana, or dried cranberries), honey, and 2% milk.
