For your health -how to live to 100 -What causes blood clots and high blood pressure??
When the blood becomes thick and the platelets, the clotting cells, tend to stick together, a blood clot forms.
So what causes “thick” blood? Three main things:
1) too much animal fat in the diet, dairy, fried foods, damage fats such as peanut butter, mayonnaise.(toxic)
2) inadequate water drinking (dehydration),
( 3) stress, cortisol.
(4 not enough “Magnesium”” also deficiency in vitamin C, ” Vitamin B-6″ and Folic acid,Coenzyme Q10.
B-6 and Folic acid are very important vitamins to keep “homocysteine” low in the blood.
High “homocysteine” in the blood causes heart disease, cancer,Parkinsons, Alzheimer’s disease.

It’s no great secret that if one pours oil in water, the water becomes thicker.
So, when you eat animal fat (meat, poultry, fish, eggs and dairy, such as milk, butter, yogurt, ice cream, cheese, etc.) your blood becomes thicker.
It’s also not surprising that blood becomes thicker when one is dehydrated.

Blood is composed of two general main components: 1) blood cells: mainly red blood cells (rbc’s), that carry oxygen around to the organs and cells, white blood cells (wbc’s) that fight disease, and platelets, that help your blood clot when you are bleeding, and 2) serum, formed primarily from water and some proteins.

If your body is dehydrated, you may not have enough water to make enough serum. But you will still have the same volume of blood cells, therefore, your blood will be thicker! (Same volume of solids blood cells – but less fluid = thicker blood!)
But the total volume of blood in your body will be less because you have less serum than you should. The body has a splendid detection system for total blood volume.

When the blood volume is low because of dehydration, your body produces a substance that constricts the blood vessels so the amount of space in the blood vessels in your body will perfectly fit your total blood volume.
If there were a discrepancy, you could have an “empty space” in your blood vessels, theoretically causing an air embolus, an air pocket that, when traveling through the heart, could cause death. So the body’s mechanism to eliminate that possibility is very efficient.

Thick blood is also one of the main causes of high blood pressure, in addition to the animal fat deposits that cause a narrowing of the blood vessels, termed arteriosclerosis. When the heart has to pump thicker blood through narrower (constricted) blood vessels, the heart must pump at a higher pressure to push the blood through, leading to HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE!

Obviously, high blood pressure can be reversed – contrary to the dogma of conventional medicine,
if one just eliminates the causes as revealed here.

The body loses ten glass of water every day just from the processes of daily living such as, digestion, making enzymes, etc. On hot days or when one is stressed, even more water is lost.
If we don’t replace that water by drinking pure water, we will become dehydrated. The body is 75% water and the brain and nervous system are 85% water. Please note that the body is NOT 75% Coke, or 75% coffee, or 75% milk. It is 75% WATER!

The information given in this talk does not lack scientific evidence. There are thousands of studies that show what Dr. Gregor is telling to be the truth. I have been eating a WFPB diet for 5 years and whenever a doctor looks at any of my test they do not believe it belongs to a 32-year-old woman with a desk job, they always think they were switched with a 15-year-old, which is funny, because people don’t believe I’m 32, they actually tell me I do not look over 20. Best thing, not how I look, but how I feel. If I’d know I’d be feeling this good before, I would have changed my lifestyle long ago. Made me so mad once I realized how great, light, and carefree I felt just by changing what I eat (instead of how much), that this information seems to be so secretive, or “lacking sufficient scientific evidence”, even to doctors. Share this information! Make the change! you will not be sorry!
This is the first video that I’ve ever disliked from Tom.
I didn’t really get anything of value from this interview. She speaks in gross generalities and mentions a lot of generally undefined and obscure or subjective terms.
I’m sure she’s really nice, and I don’t doubt that there are things that she can do to help people, but I’m far too analytical to pull much from this. It’s very woowoo, and even in areas where I agree with her, I can’t get very far because she’s NOT specific about anything.
Something didn’t seem right about her when she said that she was a doctor or medical professional. I looked it up, and she’s a Naturopathic Doctor (ND), which is not a medical doctor. That made a lot of sense. She does not practice evidence-based medicine, and while I think that there are PLENTY of issues with our medical and health system, I can’t get on board with a lot of what she’s saying. Tom has to keep asking her to define these terms she’s using because she’s adopted her own terminology, but then she uses more not commonly defined terms.
So to be clear, she may help her clients tons, but I didn’t really find any takeaway that didn’t largely rely upon MY OWN interpretation of her words. There wasn’t much concrete info here:-/

Love listening to her talk, and I resonate with so much of it. The one thing I didn’t feel good about was her saying the body gets “revenge.” Uh, no, I don’t agree with that. I’ve come to love and respect my body due to the realization that it does everything it possibly can to protect/save us (aside from the fact that the human body is just totally phenomenal). It would do nothing to knowingly or intentionally harm us. It works with what we provide it, even with all those crap foods and lack of exercise (etc), it keeps chugging along. Even the big “c” is its last ditch effort to save us. If we start thinking in terms of the body being in any way against us, that will make self-love (and motivation for self-care) even more challenging. I think of my body as both a child and a guardian. Nurture one and you’ll strengthen/protect the other. (edit) Oops, in watching the rest of this, uh, no, I must say, I totally don’t agree with all that “do all the stuff (injecting toxins into your face and all that). WTF, that part is insane, and not at all about real happiness or self-value. It’s about still holding onto the dinosaur-y idea that our youthfulness is where our value is, and best please the men folk in that regard if we wanna feel valuable/powerful. She needs to do a lot more meditation on that one, heh.

Caldwell esselstyn’s book prevent and reverse heart disease. one of his colleagues at the Cleveland clinic was stricken with a widow-maker heart attack at 45 years old. that is a picture of his healed artery do to a plant-based diet 3 years later. dr. esselstyn personally saved that guy. those of you who are on keto need to understand that outward appearance doesn’t mean anything, it really comes down to your cardiovascular health. I wanted to throw dr. esselstyn name into the mix because his scientific research in the mid 1980 was pivotal in the knowledge of plant-based diets for atherosclerosis and diabetes.
You need to eat 7 cups of greeny veggie per day on Keto diet. many people don’t do keto correctly, and fat is good fat too. Also I found out that if I have 4-8 oz of beef patty for one meal I don’t feel much hungry as other meat…I try to do OMAD, beef helps hunger.

One of the things I feel really helpful when it comes to listening to body needs is taking naps whenever my eyes and face starts to feel tired. Basically whenever I feel “unfresh”I know it’s time for a nap. They say supermodels need their “beauty sleep”. It’s so true. When you’re fresh, you will feel and look young. We today will push ourselves to work and stay up for as long as we could. We don’t put much importance on rest and feeling fresh. Tired face, mind and body ages you.

When she talks about ‘ancestral’ medicine/food, is she talking about Western/European/American ancestry? Well she seems to be moderate and not pushing keto or carnivore diet on everybody. I always think of this one thing I read some time ago about a tribe in Africa, strong, healthy, beautiful people and their diet is mostly carbohydrates. So their gut bacteria thrives on those carbs. If you suddenly change their diet to western ancestral diet, it is a shock to their system, to the gut bacteria and their health/wellness is significantly reduced and they become sick and fat. They actually studied this and saw these results. It took me a couple of decades of ill health, pain, depression etc to realize how I ignorantly abused my body by following other people’s ancestral diets.
Fiber isn’t about not about constipation this is part of the reason you lost muscle. They are also reduces inflammation in your body which is why carbs are important. This plays into longevity and chronic diseases. And before people dismiss this ie oh its just a black bodybuilder”. 1. I’m not a bodybuilder. 2 You have unconscious cognitive bias that you are not aware (read blink by Malcolm Gladwell).

We will constantly evolve and change the ways we do things.. because we are always trying to find a better way. Sometimes we may stray from our original goal but when we fail we need to try and get on that path to the goal again. I feel this is the same with finding ‘optimal’ diets. A diet isn’t just a plan to get you where you want to be physically or mentally its a lifestyle and sometimes you’ll dart off but we have to stay true to the ‘lifestyle’. Optimal Lifestyle being the end goal.

Fat = full! There are NO essential parts for grains. I fast forwarded to the part with the plate and saw the next study with the control groups. Surprise surprise eating low fat had the highest mortality between the three groups.

Such an impactful video. It reflected everything I am going through… I am consciously going into my second year of a Sabbatical to reconnect to God (the source), myself, heal, and start living with purpose.
Surprised at the warning in the description. Having tried both vegan, and keto, at different points, I’d say it definitely smacks of bias, as both have supporting evidence, both have good and bad studies, and both have fans that subscribe to their chosen path with an almost religious fervor. I find myself watching fewer and fewer TED Talks as the years go by, and that warning, unless also applied to other new/”fad” diet talks, only serves to reinforce the impression (to me) that TED Talks have declined in quality and credibility.
The first lifestyle change I’d suggest is letting go of your desire to live forever.

Greger sounds more like a scam artist salesman than a scientist/doctor in this talk he doesn’t go deep at all into any science he simply repeats mantras and catch phrases. What a buffoon, can understand how people take him seriously

Halfway I to it I got goosebumps all over, the first part was the normal diet talk but when she said you go day by day without feeling anything… that spoke tons.
Then why have a majority of Vegans quit going vegan, because it was killing them? Why have most people gotten horribly sick in 3-5 years on a vegan diet and quit? Dr. Greger is a joke.
The reason you lose weight on a vegan diet is becasue you’re not only being malnourished, but having nutrients leached from your body, by anti-nutrients.
Once you stop losing weight, it’s because your body has finished consuming all of your energy stores. Next it begins eating muscle tissue, and eventually your organs, until the only thing left for your brain to eat is itself.
One month one the plant based diet, lost 5kg, toned up a lot, improved my 5k running time yesterday by 1 minute despite not training for 3 whole weeks and have clearer skin than ever… I’ve also noticed a change in taste buds, am eating waaaaay more vegetables and have a new found love for coconuts and mango… love the plant based diet
Red meat not for me, now only vegetables. I turned this off at 39 minutes not interested.
In case it’s not clear what’s going on yet; this is a seriously deteriorated creature who is (by G-a te’s funding) pushing the Vegan agenda to the already starved population. What strikes me is that it’s the most intelligent folk like our scientist who fall for this trap.

I totally disagree with Dr Kellyan: I do have much more fibre intake whenever I’m on Keto that not been on a Keto diet. Simply because I do choose to eat much more green leaves (kale, spinach, lettuce, rockets.. u name it) on a daily basis. My total daily carb intake is 25-30g when I’m in keto, and that’s exactly why I choose wisely my carb intake by eating more salad.
excellent video and info. love his delivery too hehe. what im left curious about is if (ethics aside) the optimal diet would/could consist of whole foods, mostly plants, with occasional consumption of the highest quality animal products, such as fish and eggs perhaps. thinking out loud, but it would stand to reason, by Dr. Greger’s own wording, that since 90% of our evolutionary past consists of mostly plants, that the optimal diet would/could likewise be mostly plants. some more food for thought i suppose:)
Lectins, Phytates, Oxalates & Saponins are all anti nutrients,… ANTI nutrients which block the absorption of nutrients in food & these ANTI nutrients are all found in vegetables!
Pound for pound, meat is the most nutrition dense food on the planet:)

Certain foods made me itch.
Look at your teeth! If u have more pointy teeth with fangs, try carnivore diet or more meat. If they are square and bluntish eat vegetarian or more veggies and grains. Just a thought! I have pointy teeth and eat more protein and low carb veggies from keto diet, I lost weight, more energy and feel so much happier in general. I was a vegetarian and miserable for years eating so much starch. My weight is stable and I feel great. You really do have to find what works for you ❤
Need to edit to say the protein I eat is plenty of meat and fish. Being vegetarian did not work for me.

I’m 1 minute into the video and I’m not sure I can make it another minute let alone to the end. But I really want to know what he has to say. If he could do it in a way that didn’t sound like he slammed a bottle of tequila right before going on stage, it would be much easier to watch.

TED is afraid of Youtube rejection and criticism therefore putting himself on the fence as not taking sides, although the scientific evidence speaks for itself. Not just being a Greger fan, I have tried and tested the Plant Based lifestyle like thousands of others and can only speak highly of the ONE AND ONLY remedy that can heal almost all the diseases in the world, of which the Keto and Palio (Atkins) diets can make no claim at all.

I do think you should check out the study and view what foods they tell you to eat and which foods to avoid. I’m not really surprised that you lose weight on this diet, you’re not really eating much of anything. They also tell you to avoid caffeine, sugar, and alcohol, which definitely could have a big impact on the study, but not really something that gets talked about. Additionally I don’t think this diet would be very suitable for people who are very active. Protein is already difficult to get on a vegan diet, and limiting tofu and tempeh and nuts and seeds doesn’t make it any better. Granted I’m not a nutritional expert, just my two cents.
LOL to that disclaimer. The number of people putting out hate (not only here) because of Dr. Greger’s hair, appearance, speech, etc. is ridiculous. Aren’t you guys ashamed of yourselves? That’s called bullying. But, of course, when you lack arguments you gotta appeal to cognitive biases, right? It must feel very bad for you watching vegans and people on a plant-based diet thriving while people like Dr. Greger and plant-based doctors are changing the world and saving thousands, if not millions, of human lives & billions of animal lives while you sit behind a computer screen looking for ways to distort or avoid the facts so that you can tell you ego that your views are right.
I hope you (haters) realize the consequences of your unthoughtful actions. Just don’t blame vegans when your ketogenic or omnivore diet fails you. This is what I firmly mostly believe too. I believe that to be healthy and especially way younger than my age; my diet must consist of raw vegetables at 80% and fish (preferably raw too such as salmontry best to avoid those fried especially in re-used oils), avoid chicken unless it’s organic and roasted and such, avoid meat, etc, and rice over bread. Rice must be as little as possible.. 2 to 3 tablespoons max. Avoid bread and pastry type of food as much as possible. I also love having eggs and do not ever avoid them. Avoid sugar and artificial sweeteners such as aspartame etc. If you need a sweet taste; use raw organic honey. Avoid sodas and bottled juices. Drink fresh juices with no sugar added. Drink hot or warm drinks, try best to avoid cold or iced drinks. Etc. And whenever I’m on this diet of mine, I look amazing and super young. The minute I slip, I look like ten years older. But I just don’t know what to name this diet of mine. I try to expl to my spouse because I really “can’t” eat certain things if I want to maintain youthful looks; but it’s so hard to make him understand because no “experts” or doctors talk about this kind of specific diet in fact I’ve read a lot of mainstream doctors telling you to eat meat, chicken, potatoes, carbs etc. And they warn you against eggs especially the yolk etc. So I sound like a “stupid” person when I talk about my specific youth and age reversing diet. So then I find myself slipping off from my diet and eating the mainstream way, and then look and feel sluggish and old again, and then I try to get back to my diet, and the thing goes back and forth back and forth. It was easier when I was single as I buy food for me, spend for me so I could really be disciplined. But when you get married and need to be frugal etc, you have to choose certain food over other due to practicality and economical reasons. Bread is easier to buy, prepare, eat and it’s cheap. Ditto rice. Eating loads of rice with just bits of chicken and vege is way cheaper and sustainable than eating loads of veges, a whole fish and a few tablespoons of rice. Etc etc.
After 5 years of veganism and suffering I am now 1 year animal based and I feel awesome. Thanks Greger.

Since their are a bunch of vegans on this video can someone help? I went vegan and I feel amazing and I’m gaining so much weight ( finally because I need it), but I started to have acne breakouts all over my face? Is that normal. Or am I doing something wrong.
As per ayurveda, root cause of every disease is in stomach And basically if a human eats flesh it doesn’t get digested but it get rots as our digestive system is not capable of digesting meat.( Don’t agree, try eating raw meat.)
To all meat eatersif u don’t care of innocent animals atleast care for your own health and become vegetarian/vegan.
We don’t have any right to kill innocent animals for their flesh, let them live their lives.

Be a vegan if u want to reduce animal suffering. Don’t be a vegan if u want long term health. I have tried vegan and carnivore. Vegan sent me into a ten year long health decline.
He should have worked in announcing fights, not in medical science. His voice and intonations both annoy me yet i keep going back to it.
So although Dr. Dean Ornish PROVED that a whole food plant based diet reverses heart disease, in trials completed decades ago, apparently that doesn’t qualify for “sufficient scientific evidence” by TEDx standards.

Bloating, gases all day, toilet visiting 20 times a day, bone and teeth deterioration, anxiety, feminine look for men and weakness, not able to handle stress, digestive problems, destroyed digestive systems, pale skin, anemia, preparing food and eating all day long like a full day job and calculations in chronometer fake measures, leaky gut, IBS, eczema, mental illness, lost of memory.
