I had to go to a nursing home for rehab. I’m a diabetic. Every day they gave me oatmeal or cream of wheat. And a banana and peanut butter every day.
I was diagnosed with type 2 a month ago. I now have a nutritionist who is telling me I need to eat a minimum of 60 grams of carbs per meal and no less than 3 meals a day plus snacks. Her plan is only slightly better than what got me in this situation. I’ve been eating no sugar and low carb for a month and have lost 20 pounds. I now have the unfortunate issue of low blood pressure after exercise and may have to give up the meds for that in the near future. I am determined to control my diabetes to the point I no longer need medication for it as well. Thanks Doc!!

I love bacon, and have it very occasionally. But……Eat Bacon. Don’t Eat Oatmeal or Bananas, because they have carbs, and carbs turn in to glucose and fructose. Really? We need carbs. Even diabetics. The right kind of carbs. Centuries of healthy, carb eating cultures can’t be wrong.
A real eye opener for this type 2 diabetic, and a case of what’s the point being here, you just said all my favourite breakfast foods are bad, and all the things I don’t like are good, except the eggs and bacon, but I am not allowed those because of other health conditions, seems like I should just have bread and water from now on.
I am type2. I switch to keto. But sugars are still high. I take 500ml of metformin twice a day and touro insulin 14ml. Vitamins d, b1,3,12. K2. Magnesium, fish oils and acv.i add nutritional yeast to my salad. I’ve have gotten my sugars down to 8 on 8 weeks. What am I doing wrong??? Please help. Love you shows.

My buddy advised this “Gαjοjο Fivu” (Google it) for my weight and diabetic issues. I had been following firm exercise and also diet regime. I was able to decrease 35 points from my blood glucose levels after a day on the diet routine. Right after 4 days, I lost Sixty points from my blood sugar levels. This guy doesn’t look healthy now he’s not going to look healthy later, for sure if he’s eating what he’s recommending. Instead of arguing that animal foods are healthy because refined grains and concentrated sweeteners are not healthy, why not try veggies, beans, and fruit? A couple ounces of nuts and seeds a day. Get low calories and high micronutrients: phytochemicals and antioxidants. This guy is a joke. Ask him for some references to medical or nutritional journal articles and read them. Try contrasting anything Joel Fuhrman says and look up his references. Aren’t saturated fats widely agreed to be the biggest promoter of high blood cholesterol? How can bacon and steak, which are loaded in saturated fat they’re mostly calories from fat and most of the fat calories are saturated not cause heart disease?
This is NOT good food advice/recommendations for type 2 diabetes.
I only scrolled through some of the comments and did not see anyone with my problem. I not only have type 2 diabetes diagnosed in September 2015 but also in stage three CKD as of the spring of 2016. Bacon may be good for my diabetic side but it has too much saturated for my CKD side. Avocado may be fine for my diabetic side but it has too much potassium for my CKD side. In fact, potassium prevents me from eating many foods that are recommended for my diabetic side but try to find a site that goes to good choices for those of us who have BOTH disorders is impossible. I found the needed changes in my diet when I only had diabetes was easy but when I was diagnosed with CKD I could no longer eat nuts (too much protein) or tomatoes, bananas, orange juice, or potatoes (too much potassium). Also, I can no longer drink dairy milk but have to drink an alternative which for me is almond milk. It makes me think maybe I should get off the merry-go-round and eat what I am used to eating. Either path I follow will still end in my death and at 70, that may not be far away anyway. I appreciate the advice and will share it with my nephrologist and primary doctors.
Bacon and eggs is this guy even serious? Sure refined grains are crap. But that doesn’t mean animal foods are healthful. Carbohydrates aren’t bad, per se. What about beans? Right resistant starch not even broken down by enzymes fermented lower down. Absorbed over hours. Is he actually going to say berries are bad now? When you eat beans, greens, onions, and mushrooms regularly you create a beneficial biome for bacteria that then deal with your mango and oatmeal lowering their glycemic index it’s called the second meal effect. Berries are also absorbed super slowly. But do we really believe that bacon and eggs and steak are healthful? They are high calorie, and very low micronutrient they do not contain any phytochemicals or antioxidants. They do contain plenty of cholesterol and plenty of saturated fat and they’re great if you want heart disease or cancer.

Long before I knew about keto life style, I said repeatedly that when I eat oatmeal my sugar would spike and people would think I was crazy. I even should them bs results and they thought in time it would even out.
Sorry, dude our bodies run on glucose. Why don’t we look at the micronutrient per calorie density of foods and try to eat low calorie and high micronutrient. Why don’t we look at how hormonally favorable foods are and how slowly they’re absorbed? How are you lumping berries in with cold breakfast cereal? What about some quinoa or steel cut oats? Or melon. Or citrus? Or beans and greens? Or, fuck it, why not a salad with fruit for breakfast? How about a head of lettuce. Or how about a head of green leaf lettuce, blended with a couple oranges, and a handful of raw cashews?

Winner of a video, I have been researching “meal for diabetic” for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of Nanadelyn Nenogan Magic (should be on google have a look )? Ive heard some decent things about it and my colleague got excellent success with it.
Work days I breakfast on white coffee with lactose free milk (half the carbs of normal milk) and weekends I have bacon, egg, mushrooms and tomato with no spikes and no insulin whatsoever. It’s all good!

This is an excellent diet for gaining more diabetes points. There is non stop eating from am to pm, with high carb grain option. Best way to tackle diabetes is low carb and intermittent fasting.

I love this info. I have known these things for awhile now, but to have a doctor say it makes me so happy! I have Type 2 and I’ve gone back to not eating breakfast. I feel so much better. I also had an aortic valve replacement 3 months ago. So now I’m in cardiac rehab where of course they tell you to stay away from eggs and to eat oatmeal. I do not eat oatmeal! It makes me so hungry an hour later that it makes breakfast pointless. Thank you so much for sharing this info
I think all this recipe is good, for people who have or having issue with low sugar also known as hypoglycemia. If you are already a diabetic. DO NOT FOLLOW THIS RECIPE. It will for sure send your sugar to the roof.
One way to figure out especially if you are recently diagnose with DM type 1 or 2. Is make a journal on what you eat and see what food reacts to your body. Then adjust your diet accordingly. For example me. I check my sugar 2 hour after a large meal, ( usually lunch is my largest meal) if I eat 1 piece of bread with chicken salad. That 1 piece of bread sends my sugar almost 200. My body reacts to carbs like is running out of business. So in my opinion make a journal of what you eat and test your sugar twice a day 1 fasting or at waking up and 2nd 2 hours after your large meal of the day, and figure out what you can eat and what you can avoid or eat less of it.
Animal foods might show some benefit if we compare them to refined grains. But both of these choices look miserable when we compare them to vegetables, fruit, and beans. Why not actually chose health. Fight cancer, obesity, heart disease, diabetes all at the same time. Bacon, eggs, and steak? But berries are bad? Come on!

Thanks my doctor is always telling me that banana is not the best but I can tell you that banana is my best favourite fruit on this earth, l used to even 10 or more banana without a problem but now l only have 1 banana a day and it feels like a torture for sure but my doctor is doing what is best for me with sugar levels of over 25 to 30 which is very high.
Urgh…I love my oatmeal man. Steel cut oats just make me happy. I can and have given up every carb sources outside of that. You can still eat these foods as long as they are portioned for every meal you are allotted 15g of a starch, which does include potatoes, bread, etc. as long as you portioning out these foods the way the should be for a diabetic diet you are fine.

Madam, please look up the GI values of whole grains shown in this video. Just because they are complex carbs means only that they will be slightly better than refined grains in raising blood sugar. I am within the pre-diabetic range and recently my Doctor introduced another practice to help deal with it. She charged me to ‘fastercise’ in the morning to delay ingestion of food and keep my insulin levels low. I told her I prefer to pump-iron, but she wouldn’t have it. She demonstrated a fastercise episode that I should do 4X per day at 60 seconds duration. She appeared to go into voluntary convulsions and very rapid movements mimicking someone having an epileptic seizure. She kept this up for 60 seconds. It was a bit shocking, but I tried this myself, since I was hungry and semi-fatigued. After I caught my breath, my hunger pangs disappeared and I was awake without caffeine. Have you heard of this? Any opinions? I will continue for 4 weeks and retest my A1c again in 4-5 weeks. I can let you know the quantitative outcome, but it might also effected by dietary and supplement changes I’ll be incorporating.
