Unfortunately I cannot consume dairy. I do have whey protein but it’s a an expensive raw kind that has everything removed excepted the raw whey protein so I can drink it whereas I cannot drink other kinds of whey protein because they are not as pure.. I DEFINITELY notice a difference when I use whey and when I don’t. Gains are much better with a whey protein shake twice a day.

I think she’s missing the point here. According to the book The Mindspan Diet by Preston Estep, a distinguished gerontologist at Harvard Medical School, we already know that at least 70% of dementia and other CNS diseases is caused by an excess of heme iron in the diet as we age. Heme iron is found in meat, fish, supplements and fortified foods, and Dr Estep writes that there is a strong consensus in the research community that we are ingesting far too much. In communities such as the Blue Zones where dementia is much rarer, people eat a low iron diet and are borderline anaemic by standard measures. Dave you’re right. As a Naturopathic Dr n Nutritionist I deal with this misinformation daily. There are several other health issues with milk. Besides the mucous production and rise in CRP ( which is the beginning of most diseases) milk causes a substantial amount of plaque build up in the arteries. I’ve seen several patients ( some of them elite athletes) that do everything right except that they have been daily milk drinkers. Many of them had to have extensive chelation therapy to clear the arteries to prevent an eminent heart attack!!!

Eat, sleep, move and have healthy relationships. Avoid products that have a label, added sugars, fried foods and refined food, alcohol and smoking sigarettes. Instead, eat greens, beens, mushrooms, seeds, berries, unions and always add herbs and spices. A whole food plant based diet is what is best for you. Don’t forget to supplement B12 and iodine. It’s all about knowing your risks.
I think it’s fine if your not dieting down hard for a show but there are a lot of people that do just fine drinking milk that don’t get gas or diarrhea. How absorbable is a protein powder that is artificially made? I guarantee, and willing to bet money that high grade real milk will do a lot better, just don’t drink a gallon of milk lol. Just like if you eat 20 oz of meat your gunna get some horrible gas. I have a dannon light and fit Greek yogurt (along with other carbs and proteins) to get a small amount of sugar, every post workout, every day and have no problems. I can’t eat too much meat otherwise I get some severe severe issues. Plenty of protein powders that are far worse as you know and whole real foods is a way to go. I’m pretty sure if you can’t get in decent shape from 8g of sugar in a single serve milk That you need to re adjust your diet.

I saw an article on this generations problem with the rise in Alzheimer’s and it stated that much of it can be attributed to metal tooth fillings that give off mercury. The ADA has not officially acknowledged this as it would open the industry up to a plague of lawsuits but it is the main reason they no longer use them. In the article it stated that an exhumed body that had been buried for ten years was tested and the metal fillings were still giving off mercury.

I think this type of information doesn’t really improve People’s health, it can actually worsen people’s health because the worry that comes with this kind of talk in itself causes health problems, we are here and then we die and there’s no magic bullet to fix any health problems when a person’s body is shutting down due to genetics and bad choices, especially nowadays with the coronavirus I think the trust of people in health advisors has gone down considerably because we are witnessing the helplessness of the modern medicine and the non existence of medical advances in so many different fields of medicine, vaccines, treatments, and the inexcusable high costs for minor health emergencies, I think the medical science hasn’t achieved major breakthroughs in the last 50 years or so

Scientists found cows milk is packed with vitamins and minerals and so said it was the perfect food for health, problem is cows milk is hard to digest, unlike human milk, so the vitamins and minerals from cows milk don’t get to get in the human body because of that.
Milk IS bad for you..Though if you have it occasionally it normally won’t cause problems. A way to know is to totally cut out milk and other dairy for a month then see what happens to your body and how you feel.
Guarantee it will only be good to quite possibly phenomenal without it. I quit milk and sugar many year’s ago in a nutritionist advised diet and I dropped 30 pounds. 205 to 175. Felt incredible and I could eat two full plates of dinner or more without gaining a pound. My metabolism had kicked in because my gut was no longer being poisoned by sugar and dairy.
Skinny, cut and veiny arms and I could eat a horse. Only NO SUGAR and very little cheese once in a while. Once you quit sugar, you’re body and your brain no longer want it.

It’s more expensive per gram for protein than a whey powder, and that it has casein is negligible.
You’re more than likely going to get enough carbs through your diet because they are just stupid easy to come across.

It’s not a waste if you love chocolate milk, but if you’re doing it for benefits there are much better, less costly ways to get those benefits.
I think it depends on the person. I never had acne until after 6 years of Veganism, zero dairy, then I suddenly had all sorts of skin problems. Left veganism but still didn’t go back to milk and the majority of acne/dermatitis and redness went away but remained hormonal once a month. Then I cut out processed food and sugar, added back dairy and all acne and other skin issues disappeared. Definitely not a dairy problem in my particular case. My descent is Northen European though and I’m sure my ancestors were used to drinking it.

What I do is I buy dried cocoa beans, mix it in blender with milk and banana. The result is incredibly tasty and healthy shake.

I love that people still are an advocate for milk. It has been shown that most positive results are from dairy funded research so even if you do meta analysis it will just point to the same conclusion as their research outnumber the ones who do not agree with their findings. That said, it is clearly that people are trying to vilify a food group. No milk is not as bad as vegans think, but no it is aint as good as carnivores think. The problem with milk and their derived product cheese is we eat range from 30 to 70 lbs per year. That is way too much since dairy products are in lots of more products. As with many things related to nutrient it is not the food type but the amount we consume. The conclusions of the research papers are really biased as there is never a down side.

Personally, I like to drink chocolate milk after soccer practice or conditioning. Water is great for hydrating, but it doesn’t contain electrolytes. Gatorade and other sports drinks have hydrating properties, as well as replenishing electrolytes, like sodium. Chocolate milk, is best for sore muscles or just after an intense workout in general. It’s water content can hydrate you, it has nutrients to replenish what you’ve lost, AND it has protein…the key to rebuilding muscles bigger and stronger. Anyways, I just think chocolate milk works well for me after exercise.

Error on my part about ghrelin. Dark chocolate actually has an inverse relationship with ghrelin, meaning it suppresses it. Ghrelin is actually the ‘hunger’ hormone and suppressing it is what controls appetite. The claim of reducing appetite is the same, but wanted to clarify that. Apologies!

From my own use of having chocolate milk after a workout, I found that I wasn’t losing as much weight as before I started drinking it, so when I stopped I got back on the faster weight loss train. All that extra sugar man. So bad.

And I’m not trying to lose any weight. Butter isn’t as bad as she claims. We need fat, even if a little is saturated. Fish oil isn’t the only answer & not all of it is so pure. Wish she recommended a good brand.
2 things also to mention
1. Sugar spikes insulin, and insulin, which is a hormone, can be anabolic, aka muscle creating/building, but also fat creating/building. So, chocolate/dark chocolate will give some sugar that may help in that regard, and also increase calorie intake which is needed to maintain or build weight/muscle.
2. Chocolate/dark chocolate is satisfying, and can be relaxing but mainly the point is that it can be mood improving, which can have a cascading effect on your neurotransmitters and hormones, perhaps relieving stress and reducing cortisol. This all improves your bodies ability to build muscle.
So, it isnt the healthiest option, but also not the unhealthiest option. Mainly referring to pure dark chocolate variety with real cocoa, about 50-100% cocoa. Milk chocolate generally has too much sugar and not enough actual chocolate/cocoa, and many times has other flavorings and ingredients, essentially unnecessary.
P.s. a bonus point Dark chocolate also has other antioxidants/flavonoids as well (which can reduce inflammation and promote proper/healthy muscle creation). Kk, I put a lot of pros for dark chocolate but dont go and give yourself diabetes, everything in moderation.

I used to get so much gas from a glass of milk. I just said f it and drank a liter a day for couple weeks. It was so bad being on the toilet every hour just for gas. But took a short break and drank milk again. No gas ever since

Chocolate milk has been my post-workout of choice for a couple years now….seems to be doing me just fine…as someone else commented, I add two scoops of whey to a 16oz. whole chocolate milk…tastes great and lots of protein.
Sadly I don’t like dark chocolate at all. Then again I’d eat pretty much anything if it helps ma gains

When i was a teenager i drank a gallon of milk a day plus solid meals, i benched presses, dead lifted and did squats a lot, got strong and big went from 190 to a solid 280 at 6’3, today im lactose intolerant and drink only “fairlife milk” but i only drink about 12 oz after my workout, always making gains, lactose free milk is good
