I am in the midst of contract negotiations. My initial agreement was a little below median mgma salary for my specialty for roughly 7500 rvus (median is 7800) – so pretty fair. Got a call from admin that the people who look at "fair market value" thought the numbers were too low and increased the RVU to 8500. Admin says he doesn't agree with the FMV folks but would like to make things fair and offered to increase my base by 25K which brings me to median salary for 8500 rvus. He is open to further negotiating base to higher.
I tried to research fair market value and keep coming up with Stark law and not sure how that applies here. Would appreciate it if someone can shed light on this and also advice on how to approach this issue. Should I 1) ask for more base salary 2) ask for an Rvu goal 7800 for median salary 3) insist to original terms of offer
