People at work ask me about diet a lot lately because they notice I want from zero to hero in six months. Noting they are trying to lose weight.
“All I have for breakfast is eggs, toast and bacon.” They say.
Meanwhile..after I ask for details… turns out… they typically use two table spoons of oil and a table spoon of butter to cook the eggs. The toast is two pieces ‘Texas toast’ (thick af white bread) with a table spoon of butter on each piece of bread, and a heap of jelly to boot. Four pieces of bacon. Only to eat two eggs, not enough protein in first place. They wash that avalanche of calories down with some orange juice laden with sugar.
I’m nice and say “Oh that sound delicious.” I suggest four eggs with only salt and pepper and piece of fruit with a glass of water.
They get this ‘does not compute’ look on their face. Like I said “First kick your dog to jumpstart your metabolism.” Then make excuses like “Eggs and bread have no flavor with out butter and jelly.” And “Eww I don’t like water. My favorite: “The jelly is fruit, right?”
Leaves me wondering why they asked me for advice in the first place.
People always neglect scientists and they get injured then they run to them for medical help, then they get better then they hurt themselves again and the cycle repeat, i do resistance training everyday but whatever scientists say i support

I like to follow joe rogans diet personally, I fast on vodka every weekend and only eat raw meat with CBD oils once a day during weekdays. I’m also on a totally legal and prescribed TRT therapy:)
PS: I only eat in my sauna or float tank to maximize bio-availability

Getting “fit” and “into shape” from being unfit and out of shape is one thing, but lets face it, for many people this is mainly vanity.
True about posture fixing more than the obvious. I went for a 2.5 mile walk and remembered posture when my hip ached. It does work to stand up straight and alleviate other body pains.✌️Thanks BnB
I really don’t know what doctors with more knowledge say about all this as these folks are just as youtuber as others. What about people who live in other parts of the world, what about stress, and other issues, what about reviews of other people on YouTube videos regarding exercises, what about gyms all over the United States and their reputation. Confining health issues by focusing only on the physical motions is not a complete science. Their opinions are based on one segment of medical science, and top of that rigidly discarding other fields and calling them fakers and wrong doers looks fishy to me. Now what other YouTubers say about my comments, we’ll see!

Omg, I completely agree with quadriceps machines, and treadmill, walking 2-3 miles a day. I was using all of them before and during the Pandemic. Now my left knee popped with so much pain. MRI says arthritis. Uuhhgggg ♀️♀️ and I thought I was doing something good. In bed for 6 weeks. All I can do now is the stretches that you two and Dr. Jo on YouTube. Thank you for the info

I did only cardio for 2 month(4 times a week ) and a good diet and lost 14.5 kgs…
A lot of these make sense, a lot of them are even advised not to do, some are done by the best known names in bodybuilding and training, but don’t hate on all personal trainers, have you ever checked that your PT is certified? Or what their knowledge base is? And just because bob and brad are “doctors” doesn’t mean all that much, my mom’s doctor sent her home in the midst of a heart attack because he was incompetent.

I learned these were horrible exercises, after years of AAU and collegiate hurdles. I had a hernia repair, at 32. All from overtraining and wrongful exercises

My body is unable to adapt to climbing on stairmaster at high speed, it always feels hard, so I’ll stick to that cardio routine after workout.

Guys, skipping and springing changed everything for me in terms of losing fat consistently…2 mins on 2 mins off but has to be at 100%, do 4-5 sets at start of end of weight training
I think the reason extreme diets works is that those who can follow them doesn’t have problems cutting out the crap foods. But it can be that if low carb makes you able to avoid junk food, then high amount of carbs is the trigger food. You wouldn’t be able to just cut out junk food because the steady supply of sugar is always keeping you on the edge.

I was injured in for 30 years I have been doing these exercises at the instructions of therapist I have been doing them correctly many times thank you so very much for the information. My God why has no one said this to me earlier.
I can vouch for the damage sit ups can cause….I ended up with a herniated disc in 1986 after going to the gym to ‘get fit’….took years to get right.

What if I do cardio first for cardio then 30 minutes of weight training will I still gain weight?
This guy makes a lot of sense. I started training with weights at the age of 40. I was overweight with a big gut. 5ft8in 200lbs. I hired a trainer to teach me. My days consisted of weight training followed by some cardio. What wasn’t mentioned in this video was following a proper diet. I ate very clean. In other words the correct amount of protein, carbs and fat. After 9 months I was lean and muscular. The transformation was incredible. Muscle Mag even did a story on me. Not sure why they really cared because I was all natural. I think the point I was trying to make is that weight training will provide more success than just cardio but you must eat clean.
Can I do resistance workout and cardio workout rather than weight training and cardio workout?

I want to get your workout plan but have a couple questions first.
I feel like most personal trainers will tell you to do these workouts.
So, this one day I decided to track my monthly cheat day, you’d think eating 10k calories a day is hard, but I had myself at 8k by lunch, and the funny thing is, I was still hungry. Ended up with 12k for the day.
Normally I’m full at 2000. And I’m not even a big guy, a measly 5ft 10 at 144 pounds.
So, even little guys can eat a lot of food and we gotta be mindful.

I do 3 HIIT days and 3 lift days so one day lift the next 30 minute HIIT and so on so everyday you’re switching it up! Insanity Max 30 is goat so is body beast I combined them mfs!
I think 3 should be #1. So many times i’ll see someone stop lifting when they have 3 more reps in them, i want to say you just wasted that set. Whats worse is trainers that let there clients get away with it.

Carbs and fat are more or less interchange in my opinion and if you just eat normally you will get a decent amount of both that will be somewhat similar to the supposed “ideal percentages”. That’s why I never bothered counting macros and only count calories and protein.

I ran the opposite way on a track for one week…holy S!..soreness, fatigue, and a feeling of accomplishment in half the time of running in the traditional direction. Im all in for variety now.

I had to change the way I sleep and start propping my shoulder with a pillow. I used to slide my whole arm under my pillow and just kind of lay on my shoulder all night. Although I don’t extend my shoulder out and lay my head on it anymore, it hurts my shoulder to side sleep…I wish I could sleep on my back!
In other words, mix things up and don’t eat like a fat fuck.

I have recently (last 4 weeks) started forcing myself to get at least 24g of protein for breakfast. I feel much better now, it has really helped. I’m hoping it will start to affect gains soon.

Booyaaa I have a range of spine issues which cause my lhs soft tissues to be shorter and prone to injury. Most recent injury is my shoulder on my lhs so thanks! Mine is caused from repitive movement swimming. Sigh. What a joke! Your body is build for movments in different positions. If you workout correctly, these excersises are not bad for you! Sure there is other “better” excersises you can do if you got isssues. It sound like Bob and Brad are 100 years old. By this logic you should live your life like a robot, never bend your back and be as stiff as you can..
Physical activity doesn’t burn fat. It’s helps bun calories and increase your calories deficit. It’s diet that burn fat not gym sessions

I was diagnosed with a spur on the top of my bicep tendon was so very painful that I could hardly move my arm. Simply by dangling a weight in my hand and relaxing the muscles gave my shoulder the clearance, it needed to move pain-free.
Good video, but not the best explanation when discussing the military press. They should have been more clear if doing the shoulder press in front of the head is ok or not.
I did most of these exercises and i had my spine surgery last week.
I’m call bs on the cardio myth. When I was in the army, there where guys that all they did was lift weights. I on the other hand ran 5 miles a day. They failed their pt test and I passed with no lifting at all.

He’s correct. Also don’t go on anti depressants to avoid discomfort until you’ve tried exercise, changing your diet (after you’ve done your own research, avoid most doctors advice here) and basically forcing yourself to fucking do it.
If you like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, like me, and dont’ want to give it up, use PB2 powdered peanut butter. Mix it with water and it turns into peanut butter, but with A LOT LESS CALORIES! This is what keeps me in a caloric deficit.

Tip for anyone starting working out: don’t start hard. You will get results even if you don’t workout hard at the start. Then scale it up as it becomes more fun.

What do you mean by changing the workout plan? Do different exercises, or do days in a different order, for instance if you start with chest day, should you do it last the other month and start with leg day for instance?

Hmm, been looking for an explanation for a while. Maybe you’d know: I’ve been going to the gym for a while now. I’m 14 years old. Been going to the gym since June 16th and will be going at LEAST until September. So I’ve been going for a while now. I’m wondering, I’m not loosing THAT much weight, and only FEEL better and stronger. I don’t really see muscle improvement. About my diet: I don’t really eat fast food, maybe once a week. Usually cooked meals and I eat about 3-4 times a day.
Once you master your discipline & get that momentum going, the consistency of sitting on your ass day in & day out will the consistency you will struggle with to maintain.

Such a stupid logic. These 5 things you have mentioned are meant to optimize the progress in terms of general health but none of these in any way make you fatter. Doing tons of cardio is not optimal for muscle involvement but it sure as shit will make you lose a lot of weight (muscle and fat). There is no possible way you’re gonna generate fat from running on the treadmill like a maniac every day, even with cortisol levels elevated.

Surprising to me, I tried to lose weight by doing a regime of hiking in my nearby mountains, which involve 100-200 stories elevation gains. Nope! Not sure why I didn’t lose weight, especially since I’d be sweaty after most hikes. I’m wondering if the multi-day exhaustion of long hikes just messed up my appetite too much and had me eating too much without realizing it.

He lost strengh so he he rises is arm his hand shakes and he spills everything or can’t take a picture witha steady hand. He had therapy and medicine but i cant get him to sit or stand straight.

How come these exercises are considered normal and proper?? How come fitness trainers are taught these to be a good thing to do? Who is it gives them certification and what literature do they learn from?? I am really pissed after learning about this!

I do the same exercises but I flip them around. And some days, I add or take away but I constantly try to add new things but still do the old things.

Cardio is important when you are over 60. Just need to modify it according to your heartbeat. And machine weights are used to prevent injuries from accidents and bad form when moving them. Having said that, this guy has some great advice, but older guys need to modify them.

There is a point to listening to these videos. They might make you inspired or motivated to do things, and that is fine. They might give you energy and a Temporary work ethic to go on. Unfortunately, our innate minds decide to take this and use it against us and our own progress when it gets tough or feels the first inclination of discomfort or pain. Then it uses excuses and logical reasoning to back yourself into the same corner you wanted to get out of without you even realizing it. You get lazy and procrastinate because you lose that energy from these videos. If you keep trying to get past that, then it is your mind callousing into making this change from within, but it takes time for it to adjust to the new lifestyle you choose. Eventually, you need to stick to the type of energy within making these positive changes and avoid the old habits by callousing your mind over the parts where it finds comfort in the old ways.

The good feeling from a workout reminds me of the “runner’s high”. It is a very real thing. That being said, discomfort can be a warning sign, especially for people who always push themselves to do more. If one does not stop himself at a reasonable point, his body eventually will. If you do not want to grow old with two bad knees, multiple herniated disks, multiple other hernias, etc., then you need to set reasonable limits.
I actually broke my arm at the wrist back in February and it healed up beautiful. Now my shoulder on that side has developed some sort of issue where I cannot lift my arm more than about twelve inches straight out from my side without incredible pain. I’m hoping what y’all are showing here will help.

What I notice with shoulder pain videos in general, is that external rotation stretches are recommended less often. I think these are important, and have really helped me personally. I feel my internal rotators are too stretched out

wow I did not know that… No I believe you, because exercise is not supposed to cause inflammation of your pelvis. Most of those we used to do for PE class… My teacher would ask for sit-ups with arms crossed over chest, and I lost points because I keep mine straight. I said that would cause lower back pain, and I used to get inflammation in the pelvis very often, but she said because i don’t exercise enough…
In school these were the common PE class exercises…it been many years since then…probably had a LOT to do with why my back is so frucked up now.

I’ve always liked the phrase, “You’re not out of the woods yet.” None of us are ever “out of the woods.” And that’s a good thing. Thinking you’re out breeds complacency and false comfort. Constant distress is not good. But a little “discomfort” from being “in the woods,” to urged you to move forward, is beneficial.
Oh.My.God. Thank goodness I’m a lazy weight lifter!! I am fairly safe with core stuff (opera singer so can’t overdo), but I’ve done the shoulder twisting and the windmills. I’ll go looking for exercises I should do to keep strong, but not stiff!
Great tips! The best thing I did for weight loss was just learning to live with a slight amount of hunger. All the other tricks that people tout on the internet might work for a short while, but they never lasted for me. And when they stopped working, my reptilian brain kept telling me that I deserved to eat a whole chocolate cake because I had been so good (basically the weekend binge you talked about). Far better to try and accept that being a little hungry every now and then isn’t bad. And the good thing is that I started becoming less hungry the longer I did this, so this technique is something that gets easier the longer one does it, unlike the other stuff.

I started to overload and was able to lift more weight after just a few weeks. But I might have exaggerated it because now I have an inflamed nerve and I’m not allowed to work out at all.

i do 10min of cardio (bycle) that keeps my heart at 135bpm and then do weights, and in the end again 10min of cardio…
