Once i drank a cup of coffee during my exam preperation i realised it helps reduce my uncomfy yawns and fatiauge. Coffee pushes waste through system whether its ready to be passed or not. Food is digested through multiple processes first by commencal bacteria and enzymes in the gut but also in the lower intestine and the anus. Coffee increases cortisol. Cortisol increases blood sugar and subquently insulin to cover that blood glucose increase. I’m severely insulin resistant and I feel I do better with blood sugar control and weight loss by not consuming coffee.

I like tea. If I’m constantly moving around, I can work for 12+ hours. But if I’m sitting down trying to read a book or study, it’s so difficult to focus, just falling into many periods of microsleep, or simply falling asleep. While I would love to have the mental capacity to do idle activities without this stimulant, it is quite helpful in moderation, also with lots of water.

i made a lifestyle change, i drink decaf coffee only on the weekends ( 2 cup max.) and During the week, I make tea. The key is moderation, easier said then practiced but if you have an underlying issue as stated by DR. Axe, then ease up on the stimulant. Don’t need youtuber public opinion, counsel, advice or comments ppl… This is just an affirmation to Dr. Axe.

I take two cups of coffee a day! I wake up with a cup and another at midday! I drink water through-out the day and have breakfast at 16h00 and dinner between 20:00 and 21:00! I take dark chocolate and turmeric and almond milk at bed-time! COFFEE IS MY MAJOR SUCCESS AT INTERMITTENT FASTING!

So if you’re going to say people who make erroneous health claims aren’t worth your time and attention you shouldn’t present linkages as causes. Food studies are difficult because there are so many possible variables. Heart health is a good example. Coffee may increase heart health as it is linked. Key words being may and linked. This is a mistake lay people tend to make when they read scientific studies and don’t understand what the terminology actually means.
To establish cause you need to strictly control factors; which I’m food studies is basically impossible due to how long term it takes to establish reliable results. What they do is take a sample size of people who are drinking coffee x amounts of time a day or instigate them to drink coffee then monitor their health over time. This doesn’t account for their overall health, genetic disposition, family health history, the rest of their diet, their levels of exercise…which are also huge factors. Then they extrapolate the findings of the sample to a larger audience and say there may be a link. A link doesn’t mean it is causal which is of tantamount importantance. Virtually no food study will state that something is the de-facto cause, and presenting a linkage as if it is the cause is the same as people talking about adrenal fatigue…
I’ve been gaining weight and frustrated. I kept trying to think of what I’ve done differently that I can’t lose weight. I realized I used to drink coffee. I’m going back to it now and hope to see results. I remember when I was a coffee drinker I ate less and would replace snacks with a coffee. Wish me luck cause this over 40 weight gain is no bueno
If you would prefer a lighter uplifting feel and alot less caffein try green tea, white tea, Oolong tea or any black tea. As for teas, you can actually add on spices, fruits and herbs to make it interesting.Mine would be ; Ginger Lemon Green Tea, Mandarin Green Tea, Black Tea infused with Cinnamon, Cloves, Anise and Ginger or White Tea with Ginseng and Fruit.

I drank 3 coffees a day and had mood swings (when the coffee rush left), headaches when I didn’t drink it, anxiety cause it increased my heart rate, was fat even though I didn’t eat much. the way coffee is brewed also has an impact on health. french pressed coffee has been proven to raise bad (LDL) cholesterol levels. mainly due to the unfiltered process that lets too many of the oils thru.

I love coffee, I drink it, but I have to share that as it is a diuretic it is classed as an antinutrient by nutritionists, it depletes the body of minerals, especially magnesium which is essential for many functions in the body, one main one being, for nerve transmission = nerve signalling. Although it does contain some magnesium, if your drinking more than 3 cups a day, you will become mineral deficient.
So although I love coffee, I think limiting it to one a day and being cautious of mineral deficiencies is really important, if, in doubt supplement magnesium, most of us are deficient anyways due to soil depletion. Stick to organic if you can, after all, coffee is a plant a berry, hence the antioxidants, and has many health benefits if used properly and not abused. Too much of anything healthy becomes unhealthy. I couldn’t get through my degree without it.
Dr. Axe, I didn’t hear you mention another toxin in coffee that is a carcinogen, and that is acrylamide. The darker the roast, the more it contains.

I started drinking coffee when I was 13 or 14 years old. Use to put a lot of cream or milk, never sugar, in it; but shifted to black only. Also it was a cheap drink when my friends and I were in our teens ( Back in the 70s). Only 15 cents a cup.

MattDangles, how do you know that white tea is better for people? Even dark chocolate beats out tea for catechins. Tea is good for you. It is associated with healthier bones for regular drinkers and probably many of the same antioxidant benefits coffee has but I’m pretty sure that it cannot be said that cup for cup tea is better for a person than coffee. A plus for tea over coffee might be that is has something like a third of the caffeine (depending on brew) IF you are caffeine sensitive.

It doesn’t matter if Sanjiv is a coffee lobbyist, etc, since the research exists and is legitimate. What is stupid is adamant conclusions and recommendations based on correlations and risk ratios. At least he attempts to provide a basis for those correlations (reductions in inflammatory proteins for instance), but there are many effects of coffee/caffeine that could be considered to be causing the benefits in those studies. Of course, like usual, mainstream sources never attempt to explain anything physiologically-nope, simple correlations are good enough for them to issue authoritative health advice.
My doctor was ready to put me on Blood Pressure pills, and my Glucose levels were pre-Diabetic. I stopped drinking energy drinks and started drinking coffee. Even with too much sugar in the coffee at first, everything went back to normal levels after two weeks.

actually Coffee is extremely acidic which lower your immunity, one cup also kills 75% of Gut /intestinal flora which is responsible for immunity. After many years of loving coffee and even experimenting with low acid coffee, I had to stop since it was making me sick.
