Hello, this is more of a scope of practice / billing discussion and what it means for the evolving landscape healthcare.
What you need to know:
- The following image is taken from public CMS data in 2017.
- CPT code 37225 is essentially a code for peripheral vascular interventions for the purposes of revascularization– can apply to open procedure or percutaneous procedures– basically think atherectomy/angioplasty. This particular provider has billed for dozens of interventions (being nonspecific on the number here but it was a fair amount).
- bellow is a screenshot of the type of information given on the database
A brief search on other interventions resulted in me coming across numerous examples of PA's providing percutaneous interventions.
1 – I have gone out of my way to hide the personal info of the person. It is all taken from a publicly accessed database, but I wish to provide anonymity anyway.
2 – please no hostile comments. They end up being counter-productive anyway.
***If I am infact a moron — which very well could be the case — then please let me know where my knowledge was deficient. ***
