As a long time surfer, I have always admired Laird Hamilton. This interview destroyed that he just looks silly now. Brand destroyed in a core market, but for fitness freaks and supplement suckers, it’s only just begun. And that’s where the money is selling fictional benefits to people who have trusted you because of your previous achievement. But if your life is only about making money, hey you’re winning!
Very Shallow, empty person. I bet he uses L’Oreal. Because he’s worth it…
I do not agree with “no fiction.” Like Laird, I’m a process oriented person. I like completion of tasks. Fiction allows my mind to rest and not suffer the burn out I used to.
SURFERS ARE NOT KNOWN FOR THEIR INTELLIGENCE BUT INSTEAD THE OPPOSITE IS TRUE. THEY SEE LIFE THROUGH A HAZE OF POT SMOKE, AND PUT A THRILL OVER THEIR OWN PERSONAL SAFETY, THEY ARE USUALLY THE FIRST ONES IN THE WATER AFTER A SHARK HAS BEEN SPOTTED. THEY HAVE BEEN TOLD A HUNDRED TIMES THAT THEY LOOK LIKE A SEAL IN THAT BLACK WET SUIT BUT STILL PADDLE AROUND LOOKING LIKE A WHITE SHARKS SNACK.
MANY SURFERS DO NOT WORK A REAL JOB OR HAVE A VERY SUCCESSFUL LIFE IN THE REAL WORLD. THEY MIGHT WORK A JOB AS A CABANA BOY AT A BEACH RESORT, OR A ROACH COACH ON THE BEACH THAT SERVES BURGERS AND FRIES, WORKING MAYBE 4 DAYS A WEEK, IF THAT, AND WORK ABOUT 5 HOURS A DAY, IF THAT. MANY OF THEM STILL LIVE AT HOME WITH THEIR MAMA IN THE BASEMENT OR LIVE WITH ABOUT 10 OTHER SURFERS, OR DEAD BEAT POETS AS I CALL THEM. IN A HOUSE THAT SHOULD HAVE NO MORE THAN 3 PPL.
THESE PPL ARE THE LAZIEST ON THE PLANET, AND I WOULD NOT GIVE 2 FUCKS FOR ONE IF A SHARK SWAM UP AND BIT THEM, I WILL STICK TO MY 9 IRON ON THE GOLF COURSE AND WONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ANY SHARKS.CAUSE I DONT GO IN THE WATER, THANK YOU VERY MUCH…………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
I enjoyed the workout, but it is very difficult to hear you even with volume to the max.
How to stay fit at any age…….Have the genes of a God. He works out hard and eats healthy but men just don’t look like him in their 50’s.

Hey, thank you. I used to teach aerobics, run, be a lot more active, but now I’m nearly 50 and the slower/shorter workouts are definitely for me! I love being able to take a quick work break and do this right in my office. Raises the HR some for just long enough.

…..i envy his dedication and his discipline but in the end noody cheats death and once you hit 80 or so its all downhill…..so why torture yourself all your life with all these regiments when it makes no difference anyway…..i’d rather be lazy and read a good book or write a good book…..success can be measured in many different ways…….

Big wave riders need to wear Go-Pro’s on the body more to bring the RAW experience of what it is like from start to finish in those kine of size waves, only a very few percentage of surfers will ever surf big waves..so bringing the on board experience to vid viewers would be a great gift.

as a former navy man…and federal service academy grad…top 10% of my class..I can speak for myself and lots of others….we NEVER made our beds….we make our bunk up once each year…sleep on top…last day of school year sleep in the bed
Good vid. Taking care of his health he speaks of physical and mental but not spiritual. I start my day with water, stretching and meditating. I have been cross training all 3 components. Laird, listen to yourself on the wheel of reading, each spoke represents a different genre and we need all the spokes to be complete:). Go ahead and read some fiction!

The military we make our rack first thing in the morning because of discipline. It’s the first thing that you must accomplish of the day. It gives you pride and encourages you to perform more positive tasks. If you can’t handle a small mundane task, you would not be able to handle the major obstacles appropriately. When you are a military “operator” or “engineer” and fail in the mission of the day (and you do not die) at least you have a fresh rack to sleep in at your quarters.

I happened across this when I did a different video on Exercise TV and I really enjoyed it even though I had some challenge with keeping up with every step. I’ve been walking 10,000 steps most days for over 2 years and now that it’s cold outside I really enjoy walking in my living room to videos. I have also added carrying small hand weights…2 or 3 pounds each…which seems to be increasing my strength and vitality, too. With some knee issues at 75 years of age I didn’t do the jumping part but kept walking while the rest of you jumped. Maybe someday….

I have alot of respect for Laird, I have been following him since I was a very young lad and he seems to have paved the way for modern day big-wave surfing.
Extreme feats seem to often attract extreme personalities. I respect Laird and Kelly both alot because the value that they place on physical fitness, hence which is why these guys perform the way they do at their age.
