Wow thank you soooo much!!! Im actually proud of myself for doing my research but thankful for you doing the research!!
I was going to bring my scale when I go out for sushi tomorrow……
I just seen the most helpful video
Please do a video like this one but with another type of food (in a restaurant)
What if I eat sushi rolls with only cucumber in it? (As a girl)
Thanks for the research and good communication. Great video!
Watch out for farmed fish including salmon and tuna the fish food they consume can be full of toxins and a Monsanto chemical is sometimes used which is classed as a preservative but is really a pesticide do some research their
My guess with my fitness pal listing it as 0g of fat, is just that no body bothered to track the fat for the item. Not that there is no fat, it’s just not recorded
Seriously best YouTube video ever! I’ve been doing my own research on sushi macros and have estimated as well. Yours makes so much sense! YouTube was the last place I thought about looking and had a random idea to check. Sooo glad I did! Thanks for looking up info for us all!
Thanks for this, Mike! The only problem with this video is that it made me insanely hungry. ha!
Never really have sushi…Now though you’ve got me craving it! Nice to see the level of detail you go in:) Keep up the hard work man…
great video but you are completely pronouncing nigiri wrong.
Mike-I purchased your program as soon as I got the email already on day two, and I’m stoked, thank you! Quick question: would I count my training macros for all five days if i do the optional days as well? Hope that wasn’t a silly question. Thank you for this video-I’m gonna grab that diagram before I go out for sushi next time:)
I believe Nigiri is pronounced with a hard G not a soft one. Either way, great video, as a chef and workout enthusiast videos like this really help me better understand health and fitness with food!
Excellent job n very cool/relaxed commentary while cooking:)
it reflects ur personality n i can identify with that.
go on Derek!
Big question for me is how did you get your rdi of calcium? I struggle with this a lot actually
Cheers for the Video! Apologies for chiming in, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you researched Tabblarny Belly Principle (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a good exclusive guide for discovering a 2 minute trick to lose 1 pound of belly fat every 72 hours minus the hard work. Ive heard some decent things about it and my friend Sam after many years got amazing success with it.
Kudos for the Video clip! Forgive me for the intrusion, I would love your opinion. Have you researched Tabblarny Belly Principle (google it)? It is an awesome one off product for discovering a 2 minute trick to lose 1 pound of belly fat every 72 hours minus the normal expense. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my old buddy Taylor after many years got excellent results with it.
which software are you using bro. Also your fiber intake is 94g where as recommended value is 38g isn’t taking too much fiber cause body difficulty in absorbing vitamins and minerals also the sugar value is quite high eventhough its coming from natural sources but you look quite lean and good so can you share your thoughts on these issues as i am also dealing with this problems especially my fiber intake is around 80
thank you so much i have diabitis for too long my sugar is at 25 and i had a bad car accident because i went out in concious on the wheel so scared for me and others on the road,my doctor is monitoring me for a very long time this is so help ful i will share with my doctor
I just when crazy why bread or bagel eating or pasta or processed food not very good information
Good but glucose counters in the US is usually on bacis numbers not metric, i dont read metric Lists are to small.
Could I also please have a copy of the presentation slides? [email protected] gmail.com Thank you
Where can I get a copy of the list of carohydrates you show on webinar?
What’s the website he uses to follow his nutritional intake?
Thats awesome. I have a question though that makes me concerned. Aren’t we supposed to get a 1g of protein for every pound?
What about minimum of 17g of omega 6? Shouldn’t you be getting 4 grams more?
Good to keep in mind that sushi is a good option to eat out on and stay on track. And interesting that there’s sugar in the rice. Makes sense.
This looks great! But dang, those portions are huge! I’m really struggling to meet my iron levels with the amount of food I can eat. I already looked into it a bunch, but still can’t quite figure it out… Any tips?
400g of carbohydrates and 200g of sugar are you fucking stupid? You will get diabetes in no time at all!
Just found your channel 5 hours ago and been watching ever since! And also just bought your book! Thank you for all the wonderful info sir! Gonna get HEALTHY in 2020! Thanks so much! Im so glad I found your channel!!!
Limes and lemons have real Vitamin C that prevents all kinds of circulatory problems like Diabetes Rickets, and clogging hearts. Ancient sailors called “Limeys” learned this with Limes not needing to be preserved when shipping long distances and running out of food. Real Ascorbic acid is absorbed like sugar in the cell, but comes in second place to Sugar, and so the Vitamin C is not really absorbed much compared to the Sugar together.. It takes the Vitamin C’s place in the permeable key-slot-like structure they both fight to enter into of your cells in your body.
Buckwheat is freakin awesome too for digestion.
Please show me a day of eating without the protein powder? I don’t have any and it can be hard to eat enough:/
how do we know how much protein we really need? Isnt there enough in the food without having to supplement?
I watch videos to get recipes. Bummer to invest time in the video, which does produce income for the youtuber, and not get a recipe. Too hard to “hit pause” to get it.
Hi, Derek! The water you soak buckwheat in is very good. It’s full of minerals. I never throw it away.
Hi Derek. I really like the videos where you breakdown your meals as it helps me understand how one can eat plant based and get a balance diet. I have been vegan for about 6 or 7 years now but still struggle with the amount of fat in my diet, though am now cooking without oil pretty much all the time, thanks to you. It has opened my eyes and I actually wonder why so many recipes use oil, when it is not necessary.
Once I get it right I will probably stop recording my meals but while I am trying to get it right it really helps to point where I am going wrong/right.
Thanks for everything.
13.7 mg of iron 171 %:/ It’s easy to fill your micros when you are smashing so many calories but if you are a 164 cm tall female with a sedentary job-not so much:/ And I did try all the high carb guidlines-eating 2000 calories and so on and gained nothing from it except extra weight so it is definitely not for everybody:/
Hi, what software program do you use to analyze your food intake?
This is hands down one of the best what I eat in a day videos I’ve ever watched!
I just have one question tho:
Don’t you have any digestive issue consuming all that fiber??
On my cronometer nutrient list it has biotin. How do you get biotin on a vegan diet. Thanks
Great Video! I’ve been desperate to find a diet that leads to optimum health and despite hours and hours of research ended up confused because of all the conflicting advice. From PH neutral diets to Paleo diets it seems hard to find any consistency regarding diet advice that improve health and prevent illness. It was your calisthenics that enabled me to find you, but this dietary advice and recipe info is priceless for me. Which app do you use to analyse your diet? I’ve been after something like this for so long! Great work, I’m envious of your lifestyle.
Great video, love the breakdown. Where is your B12 coming from? I see it’s from what was in your lunch meal, but can’t tell from what ingredient(s) specifically. Foods high in B12 are almost all animal based, or synthesized in the lab for supplements. You seem to have found a way around that entirely. Studies have shown there’s a big problem with B12 deficiency in vegetarians/vegans, and it would useful to know where to get it cruelty-free.
Yo, just saying, but be careful using a mandoline like that. Don’t hold the food with the tips of your fingers, get a guard.
Hey, I have a question… I am a smallish female and I eat about 1500-1800 calories per day. However, when I track, I always end up fine on most of the minerals except for calcium and iron. Anything I can do boost those?
I could eat like this if I didn’t make me so wrinkled… I’m a seventies era vegetarian.
Hi, just came across your channel, love it, can you please tell me the program your using for the stats?
did you use a website or an app to calculator your nutritional intake? What is it called?
You definitely could have made her a portion of the meals… lol geez!
Hi there, I was wondering which app you use to track your intake? I am interested in focusing more on what foods I’m putting into my body and the nutrients I may or may not be getting as a vegan!
Your videos are great! Thanks for all the great information.
Sarah
Hey Derek,
I just gotta tell you I’ve been watching your videos for about 4 months now and I decided to make the change to a totally whole foods plant based diet from day 1. I went all in and bought the Vitamix blender and started tracking with Cronometer. I haven’t changed my workouts at all and I dropped from 185lbs / 36” waist to 170lbs / 30” waist. The excess fat I always seemed to have on my sides is completely gone and according to my wife and I friends I look totally ripped and more muscular. My energy is way up and I feel fantastic! I felt so good that I told my Nepali brother in law, who moved here from Nepal about a year ago. He got hooked on “American” food (wings, pizza, burgers, ect…) and was up to 232lbs at 5’5”:(. He’s 3 months in eating Vegan and has lost 40lbs! No joke (I have before and after pics to prove it). So, just wanted to say thanks because your videos and tips have transformed our lives.
I love your videos it’s encouraging I realize you tend to eat more on a plant base diet because your body knows what to do with the food and burns it better
What programme or website are you using to calculate those nutrients man?
Hey Derek! Another great video, thanks! I was wondering what else you’re doing for that ankle. Heat, stretches, strengthening? The reason I ask is because I also hurt my ankle a while back and it’s started acting up again. I was curious to see what’s working for you or what hasn’t worked for you. Thanks so much!
P.S. did you guys get any tsunami conditions from that earthquake in Alaska? It was a big one!
What about Zinc and Iron bioavailability? I read that Iron absorption from vegan sources is at 1-15% and Zinc only 15 to 40%. So you would not be getting enough of either if this is correct with that meal plan. I can’t see how we would ever get enough without supplementation. I personally wouldn’t supplement despite that being the case.
Great and detailed video though, loved the part about Omega 3 bioavailability.:)
Could somebody provide me a link to this macro calculator? Life will be so much more enjoyable with this.
Hey! I love your videos! It’s exactly everything I was looking for and I’m passionated about! What is the food/nutrients tracker that you use in the video please?
Hey man was wondering if you have any videos on gaining weight on a vegan diet I feel that I really need to gain some weight. I’ve been vegetarian for about a year an now transitioning to a vegan diet. I really want to gain some weight I just don’t feel very confident with my weight. Would really appreciate some help
What to do when you wanna put on weight and eat healthy but you can’t stomach such big quantities of food and also do those food combining (e.g. Raw peppers and cooked stuff?)??? Many people struggle with ibs and some like me with dyspepsia… I wish I could eat everything but I physically can’t..:/ hope you can bring that topic up in a future video
Black spots in tempeh scares me.. seemes to me weird to eat moldy foodis it really safe?
Have you thought of doing neck workouts to get a thicker neck?
What did you use to calculate all of your nutrients!? That is an amazing breakdown!
Hey Derek, what website do you use to count the calories and set targets for vitamin intake?
Derek I could really use your help and advice. (should i post in the fb group? insteadi recently bought your book)
So I am a recent vegan and i am struggling big time. Ive been full vegan for about 3 months definitely more cut which is cool I was in pretty good shape to begin with but less “puffy” which i like (probably less inflammation and overall bloat).
where i am having issues is. i am getting so much more anxiety etc. my blood sugar levels are jacked, i am waking up at 3 or 4 in the morning sometimes shaking and am needing to break my fast and eat. I think I am not getting enough calories to sustain through the day. what do you reccomend? should i be way more strict with meal prepping etc?
i have gotten a lot of blood work in the past and i do not have diabetes or any major health concerns/conditions the only that i have changed is what i eat. i cant even think about working out without eating because i will go into hypoglycemia. has anyone else experienced this from shifting to vegan? i can only assume i am feeling so full that i cant eat much food and the foods i am eating are not calorically dense. I just want to be more balanced.
following your recipes could be a sound and obvious strategy I will be trying starting tomorrow (need to go store again). I am almost thinking about going back to my old diet because this is difficult on my body and mental state (shock, anxiety from high and low blood sugar levels going everywhere).
hello!can i ask you where do you do your Macros? Is that on the internet?
Always so jealous of how much fruit and veg you have stocked up haha. Would love to be able to cook dinners with all those ingredients at hand. Great vids, keep up the good work bro. You’re smashing it:)
great video, super interesting man. why are some of the nutritions red but also over 100%, does that mean they are bad to get that much?
Hey Derek, I love this video and showing the crono numbers! Check out Dr Neil Barnard’s videos about foods for brain health (cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s) and what he says about cast iron pans.
It;s great to see a well produced video from you! seriously step it up and do all these this way!! You rock!
How tall are you? Blows me away that you’re only 145lbs being that ripped.
Nice post! I like to see the nutrition facts thank you!!:)
What is the name this app/website you use to track macros/micros please?
On my pack of Nutritional yeast it says you shouldn’t exceed 1½ tbsp a day? whats up with that?
Can you do a video on gut health? I’m reading up on it and a lot recommend cutting out a lot of carbs like restricting fruit to one piece a day which I couldn’t do! I love carbs too much. I’d be interested in your opinion
Awesome! Sub’ed ya! Question, you always mention “warm” lemon water….. is there a reason that you found for warm because I heard somewhere that drinking cold water is bad on your pancreas or something like that. I know a lot of my European friends drink warm liquids as well and state “its better than cold”, but can never give the explanation of why. Just wondering if its just a thing that you do or prefer it that way only?
Do you ever eat grains? I don’t ever think I’ve seen you eat grains or rice.
Was there a time in your life when you ate nothing but processed/junk foods? How big of a difference, seriously, do you feel both physically mentally spiritually while on a diet like you’re on now as opposed to a really junky one. Amazing video by the way truly amazing:)
i dont know why but i think that simnett and raw alignment look alike
Excellent Video clip! Apologies for butting in, I am interested in your opinion. Have you tried Chireetler Being Fit Rule (do a google search)? It is a smashing one of a kind guide for learning how to get rid of stubborn fat minus the hard work. Ive heard some decent things about it and my old buddy Taylor finally got excellent success with it.
these rdi’s stress me out so much i dont get half of alot of the nutrients i got like 13% fat and 30% protein yesterday.. compared to most people my diets already restricted (vegan and mostly whole foods) and the rdi makes me feel like im deficient in everything.. i deserve better!
I love videos like this. It’s so hard to explain to friends and family that I get all my protein and nutrients easily as a vegan so at least I can just show them a video like this rather than explain haha. Good work!
what is the software that you use for your nutrient analysis? looks amazing!!! Thanks
I find it sometimes difficult to get enough iodine with a vegan diet. The reason can be that Finnish soil has a lack of it so veggies and grains don’t really have any iodine in them. Although if I use iodine rich salt in my food I can get enough. I am still taking a supplement with iodine in it. Your analysis didn’t include iodine? I have to say that the way you eat and mix all those veggies in your diet is admirable and you are such an inspiration when it comes to being/going vegan! So a big THANK YOU for your channel!
I use lemon juice in a bottle. Why buy lemons so much work. Its a lot easier to buy the juice in bottles.! Just sayin’!
Hey mate, how was the tsunami warning for ya?
Where do you buy your tempeh? I live in Calgary and haven’t found a good place yet:(
You must season your cast pan with oil right?
In your next Monday video, or a future eating video, can you tell us/show us how you clean and maintain your cast iron for veggie cooking? Love the channel
