Made this recipe recently but substituted turmeric with curry powder cause that’s what I had at home, it was a big hit ❤️
That’s it I’m making this tomorrow! Will give an update asto how it turns out:)
But what about season in the water of chicken!? I know you dip but isn’t the chicken itself bland?
The flavors on this are absolutely fantastic it just balances really well together ginseng also garlic just let off a nice little softly abit crunchy onto palate and that chicken is super tender and juicy in every single bite just completely falls apart. This one is the best for main course recipe. Great job and definitely deserve a thumb up!
Just made soups. So amazing! Do you have any suggestions on cooking drumsticks…. u r so good. Thank you very much
Where I can buy jujube? What is substitute if I don’t get jujube

I just cooked this soup for my dinner and it is SO GOOD and so quick and easy!! I made a huge batch so I can eat it for the next couple of days, too! I added some potatoes to the recipe, though, because I’m a hungry girl no post partum here lol
Hi Maangchi. The rice that you used for the Samgaetang, is it Korean white rice or glutinous rice? Can I use Jasmine Thai rice?

Hi, just made the soup, I had no cale at home, but it’s sooo delicious!!!! Can wait to try it with added ingredients like noodles or potatoes. Greetings from Germany!
It would never have occurred to me to use ginger!! !!
If you are using powdered ginger, instead of fresh ginger, how much would you use?
I would’ve added some sage or poultry seasoning to the broth.
Have you tried doing it in an instant pot yet or a crockpot??
Can we skip soya sauce and chilly sauce? Is there any substitution
Can anyone who found ginseng….give me the link to purchase online…in my country….I can’t find it….please

One of my favorite soups next to 순대국밥. I remember eating 삼계탕 at a famous place near 광화문 palace in Seoul. They sold special black fowl chicken version. It all started for me in 대구 six years earlier. Best soup when you are sick. 망치님 감사합니다! Cant wait to cook this.

I’m 20 and my parents are growing old right before me too quickly. My dad and I do not have a words-of-affirmation type of relationship but I know we both have a similar attitude on food. I know parents always say that their kids grow up too fast but I really get a sting on my chest too whenever I see my dad dyeing his white hair back to brown, or whenever he complains about his knees, or some other manifestation of growing old. I wish they’d stop growing old too. Parents have had a life before and beyond their children, while we on the other hand, have known them all our lives and will continue to know them for the rest of it. I just really went here for this recipe to cook for my dad and got really broody after having to confront the fact that, for a while now, I have had to look up energy-boosting/age-defying/bone-strengthening recipes for my old man.
Thank you for this recipe. This is such a hearty, nourishing dish. I’m sure everyone who makes this is full of love.
Is it necessary to put chilli sauce, soya sauce and tomato ketchup?
Omg Maangchi. I had this soup in Seoul and it is SOOOO good. This brings back memories. You are my Korean mama!
Great recipe!
Heads up on jujube vs dates as they look eerily similar. jujube can be mislabeled and sold as plainly “dates”. Jujube, aka the Chinese date or red date, comes from a completely different plant than your regular date. Easiest way to tell is the deep red color of jujubes. Jujubes tend to be girthier as well! Dates have a more slender profile and are generally a brownish golden-red. There’s a lot of different kinds of date that range a lot of colors so just be attentive!
Very badly made video. It is as if you are ashamed of your recipe. Very timid subtitles. RUBBISH.
Looks delicious! Could you tell me where I can get a pot like that? Or a link?
Hi Maangchi I am from Indonesia, I would like to try it soon….seem it is so yummy and healthy…
The soup was very easy to make and delicious Just please tell me how many people does this serve as my soup had much more chicken than required
Thank you for this! And I LOVE your pot! It’s sooooooo prettty!
Thank you so much. Sounds so great, I will make this tonight!
Great video! I really like how you watched the amount of salt in the soup. I use sodium-free stock, and never miss the salt.
Hi I enjoy your videos too much and my family too,is it possible to have your books.thank you
Thankeww for teaching us a new chicken recipe…thank you a lot and lots of love from India odisha ❤️…
I made this tonight during my quarantine. I used a black chicken but it tasted the same. I’m cooking so many of your recipes during this quarantine. Thank you for your delicious recipes. They make me happy and well fed in an otherwise sad time ❤️
Would you share what size braiser you use? I am trying to figure out if I want to buy a 3.5 qt or a 5qt. The Berry Le Creuset is only available in 3.5 so that is why I am asking (not sure if that is big enough?)
5:13 Tip of chicken wings is for chicken stock, because they contain gelatin
Made something similar this morning with cooked navy beans instead of chicken (had cooked beans in the freezer that had to be used). What a delicious recipe!! with the bonus of Soup in the Fridge, for later. Thumbs Up!!
U r really excellent! U r so hygienic and make us understand so very well… it’s pretty convenient to watch ur videos and make something to eat… Im fortunate having seen ur channel… best and perfectly easy!
The only reason I am here is because of that one game where it kept repeating the same soup.

Tomorrow I Will cooking for my Wife
I will try this, very different cooking styles and dishes, hope my Mom and my husband approves ( picky eaters, so set in their own ways lol) i love the way you cook. You wash your hands all the time and keep everything clean. I don’t feel like a clean freak anymore because I do the same thing, and my Mom always complains that I take too long when I am cooking . And you’re funny!
Hi Maangchi, thank you for sharing this amazing recipe. I have been wanting to make this for a while! Quick question I only have dried ginseng slices at home, would that work as well? Thanks!
okay i have to ask….Is this the Maangchi that was on one of the Learning Station videos with Don. He introduced her as a life long friend and excellent Korean cook? If it is, I am so happy for you and the progress that you have made.
i love how manngchi doesn’t waste anything.
some cooking channels just throw anything that doesn’t go into the final dish

Chicken soup if my favorite fall food ever your the best! always great videos ♥️
Hi Maangchi! You are a very beautiful and sweet lady with a warm heart! I really love the fact that you put a lot of loves on every cooking recipe, especially when you always remember about memories with your Mom and your Dad! I wish you all good health always Maangchi! Take care! ❤️
It looks tasty, but your already putting in fresh whole ingredients. Imo, chicken bone really don’t have much or good flavor. Most of the wholesome flavor comes from the chicken flesh. Additionally, that stock has the same ingredients u already put in, lol. Why bother with stock that’s been sitting around on the shelf for who knows how long.
Can we cook without Ginseng, I dnt think it will be easily available in my area.
I LOVE HER SO MUCH!!!!!!!! SHE’S SO AUTHENTIC!!!!! S2S2S2S2S2S2S2S2
Wow, that’s looks so good and delicious. I would love to make and try this for sure, thanks for your recipe miss!
is it normal rice or glutinous rice? i remembered the few times when i had this soup in korea, the shops used glutinous rice. it is supposed to b better than using normal rice for this soup. it looks like u r using glutinous rice.
i remembered that i was told that there r 5 basic key ingredients for the stuffings in the chicken in this dish. also in the old days, these ingredients will change as seasons change as it is not available during that season.
n ur hens r so meaty. my hens here r so slim n sexy. they must have do aerobics everyday.
ur jujube is known as red dates in a few Asian countries.
i seen a fair amount of ur videos n sometimes the vegetables that u used is called by another name here or the name that u used can b the name of another vegetable here. so sometimes i had to pause n had a real good look at ur ingredients to make sure.
i loved ur sea kelp videos but it is hard to find those in my country. even if i managed to find those, they r so expensive.
i appreciate ur videos as u kept to what u do best. u do not attempted to try other asian food.
i had seen a lot of those videos. a person of thai descent trying to do malaysia or singapore food. oh god, they used ingredients that is normal in their thai culture to do these dishes which do not even use these ingredients in the 1st place. sometimes, i really feel like shouting at them. they r not doing the dish any justice.
i m not a cook but i m descended from a long line of hawkers. so my taste is very traditional. the chefs nowadays do not have any secret recipes that is passed from generations from generations. i also learned a few tricks from my grandma on how to really bring out the taste of some spices. it is not only about using them in ur dish. u have to prepare them b4 hand a few days in advance like pepper to really bring out the taste. i find the taste to b rather bland if i did not prepare it b4 hand.
i m really particular about taste. people said i m fussy but i dun think so. u r what u eat.
i also have a more sensitive taste bud n smell when it comes to food than other people. there was this 1 time that i keep on tasting lemon in a dish that do not use lemon at all. my mum also did not taste it n she told me off. later the next day, she told me her friend washed the pig stomach in lemon. aarugh…. i also can smell food from miles off. there is this 1 day, i told my sis when i came home, i smelled durians. she said she can’t smell anything. i go n searched. i found the durians in the fridge. she did not know n she was at home the whole day. haha…
for a type of powder blend that is used to go into a certain dish. nowadays, maybe about 8-10 herbs n spices r used outside commercially. my family used about 30 herbs n spices. the taste is really different. i missed those days when cooking is really cooking.
By the time you showed me that you wash your sink, you just earned a new subscriber. Good work.
Maangchi..if I don’t have ginseng.. should i change with what?
When I took my Japanese friend out on a date to a Korean restaurant in Seattle, The owner described this dish when I asked about it by gesturing toward my date (Who was in the bathroom at the moment) then pointed at my crotch and made this gesture “” whilst saying “strong” and “good”.
I interpreted that to mean that it was good for the libido. Naturally, I ordered it, and it was delicious and perfect for a cold rainy winter day in the Northwest.
… and no, I didn’t get to find out for myself if the claim was true ♂️
Saludos desde México, hoy hice su receta y en verdad quedó muy sabrosa. Solo que la hice con pechuga de pollo. Gracias
that chicken wasnt cleaned too well. THe yellow skin needs to be removed
My fav thing about Maangchi, is that she never waste food. I appreciate it so much. We waste so much food in America.
Hi Maangchi, I’ve noticed that when I go out to Korean restaurants the Samgyetang’s chicken bones were so soft that it became edible. Do you know how long it takes to cook on a low heat to achieve this?
Woow i just realize that we have same myth about chicken tip. Now i start wondering who the hell invented this myth
Hi, thanks for your video. I would like to know what type rice you cook and can I make this samguytang in slowcooker?

Hi there! Keep sharing a video this it…so easy & delicious…using a gestures a magician.

I have just cooked this soup and it is so delicious! Thank you for such a great idea. Especially good for this time of the year.

Can’t even tell what is the black sauce add. Don’t assume people know what your adding. Need text if no voice.
