Thomas, i have a question for you.
Lots of channels like yours,talk about this topic. But i am wondering,who are you referring to?
People who are overweight,or is this in general?
I’ve been working out for 20 years now.
When i starded off, i was rather chubby. Not obese or overweight in a way that it became a health problem.
( it might could have at this point in time, had i not decided to join a gym back then…)
My problems were more mentally. I had low self-asteam, no confidence and isolated my self from certain activities which demanded to take most of your clothes off (like swimming,etc…)
After one year of training, my body had a complete transformation and i never quit training ever since.
I’ve never had second thoughts about the sacrifices i made along the way, but now as i’m getting older…♂️
I’m from the year Elvis died (1977) so will be turning 43. I still work out with the same joy,still learn new thing…
but my tastebuds are starting to want something back for the sacrifices they too had to make.
So here’s the question…. If you are fit and lean,does a cheat-meal ruin everything?
Or is the Rock just full of shit when he posts his weekly cheat-treat on Instagram.
From a esthetic view,i already know the answer i think….
My body has a metabolic state.so i don’t tend to store fat. But i don’t always know for a 100% what goes on inside my body.
Should i forget these weekly rewards…? Or can i live a little.
In extension of my question… do you have cheat-meals?

I had a cheat meal after a month of dieting.. and when he said “you’re human it happens..” I really teared up.
If you have a cheat meal once a month or once every other month….. can’t you just continue on and get back on track with your healthy keto eating? Do you really need to do any of this? I mean you’ve already switched from a 7 day a week, 3 times a day meal filled with the SAD DIET. Are you saying it’s way worse/harder for your body than eating bad everyday to have a slice of pie!?! You’re content has helped alot! Quick question! I have been working out for about 13 years. I’m 5’6 and weigh 170 lbs. Pretty decent build (been powerlifting and training heavy for the most part). Used to be 210 lbs a couple of years ago, but I’ve slowly gone down to 170 lbs.. Heres the problem… I’ve decided i wanna get leaner, so I set my calories to about 2000 a day.. im afraid i’ve gone too low (or not low enough)?! i never used to track my calories, and before i just ate what i wanted.. in a surplus for most of the time i’m guessing, so its hard to figure out what excactly my maintenance calories used to be. I’ve dropped about 5-6 lbs in about 2 months.. so its not alot, but i’ve got a feeling i shouldn’t go lower on the calories.. what do you think? I should mention also that i am natural and have never used any performance enhancers. Thank you in advance!

Hey so I just found out about refeeds and I’m pretty deep into dieting. I’m eating bout 1800 calories a day and I started cutting around 3500 so should keep cutting or is it unsafe to go lower? Thanks in advance btw

I’ve never done a bodybuilding competition, but I used to be a fighter and would have to make weight for matches. I agree completely that you shouldn’t alienate your family during those periods, and part of it is just mental toughness. I remember being a week or two out and being behind on my weight cut, so there was absolutely no room for cheat meals. But I still ate with my family and went out with friends. I would eat my own food, or I just wouldn’t eat at all. But that was better than just falling of the face of the earth, as you said. Sure it was hard watching other people eat what they wanted, but so what? Just by deciding to compete, you’re accepting that it’s gonna be hard.

If you’re having digestive issues you may want to cut back drastically on eating uncooked veggies. Also, it helps to grind up seeds like flax or chia and cut back on eating skins on veggies and fruit. I developed diverticulitis at young age and I’m guessing it was based off my heredity. Changing my diet has helped IMMENSELY. I’m in love with my instant pot lol. Also, I found out I CANNOT eat rice cuz it binds me up soooo bad and throws my digestion off for weeks. Keeping a food diary and tracking symptoms helped me so much.
Careful with leaving any food out for two plus hours, bacteria starts to grow big time!
I had 3 slices of pizze last night and checked my ketone level after 3 hours and it was 0.8 so glad didnt kick me out of ketosis

Really love your channel! This video was the best one on dieting. I eat great 95% of the month and cheating can be done because of my normal good diet. Before I started working out and eating right, I cheated every other day and then some and that’s why I was out of shape! I eat more food now then I ever have but it’s all good food, food that works for me, not against me

My metabolism responds in a similar way to what you’re describing. I used to go through stages of stopping and starting the gym, I would normally start around Jan and stop around November as it always got to cold to cycle to the gym so I would stop and loose all my gains. This is where it gets strange, on a normal day I will just eat/drink whatever I want usually biscuits, cakes, pepsi, potatoes chips ect which would keep my weight stable at 135lbs even if I doubled my food intact I would gain nothing, and if I halfed it I would loose nothing but if I was to re start the gym on the diet of junk that I usually eat my weight would shoot back up to 145lbs without altering my calories which is the exact weight I was before I stopped the gym. I literally gain it all back within 10 days so I agree with what you’ve saying about metabolism it does work in a strange way.

Celery and peanut butter is good as well. Apple is my favorite but I’m diabetic and I have to be mindful even though apples aren’t a high sugar fruit. But I mix it up some celery half a honeycrisp apple and natural pb. Yum

Are cheat meals needed? I hate cheat meals. I feel sluggish and unmotivated the next day. As well as, I have it in my mind that said cheat meal is going to be amazing. Then afterwards I’m left unsatisfied and craving even more food to try and find that satisfactory meal.

hey lovely recently found your channel love you already just a tip because of the digging for nuts bit if you get like a piece of paper or something put that in the middle of the jar when filling (if you already have it half full, put on its side to do this) put the other nuts on the other side and pull the paper out saves space without digging and they will mix together as you use them =)

Great videos! Curious what liver cleanse/doc you are working with and their thoughts on aflatoxins. Amen Clinics and some other US neuroscientists advise to avoid peanuts/peanut butter altogether due to this neurotoxin. They recommend other nut butters such almond butter (clean version). I like both but I’m always stumped at the conflicting advice.

My grandpa loves gardening so he always plants a ton of veggies and fruit. This year there‘s cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, rhubarb, many different herbs, salad, potatoes, kohlrabi, broccoli, peas, fennel, white and red currants, strawberries, apples and pears. Honestly there‘s nothing better than just stepping outside and just get whatever you want to eat. Also all those things taste so much better than if you buy them from the store.
What is that white stuff you out on the top of your salad for lunch?
Attacking it from all aspects and very possible scenario. This is why I like this channel. It’s not a one size fits all and that’s what meadows takes into consideration
My cheat meal day on a carnivore diet it is still carnivore the only difference is that I add cheese hard cheese that is I eat till I am full (I cut cheese from my diet as it’s hard to keep a diet on it )instead of eating 1kg of beef a day I eat 2kg maybe 3kg even I add butter with out counting eggs as much I like and that’s my cheat meal on a carnivore diet.

i find it difficult to get back to a diet but once i do its easy.
I love almonds and apples, I also like apples and peanut butter. Now a cheating type of peanut butter is chocolate, coconut peanut butter. So it does have some sugar in it but man it is good and it is sold at Sprouts here in Tucson AZ.

Beleive it or not…I’m allergic to chromium. Even a trace of it in vitamins makes me super sick. Anyone else have this problem?
Please give us an update on the Beef Liver supplements! I deal with a lot of hormonal acne as well and I would really love to hear how they work for you. I actually eat somewhat similar to you. I’m allergic to dairy and very sensitive to gluten so both are completely excluded from my diet. I’m also soy free because I suspect I’m sensitive to that as well. Honestly, my allergies and sensitivities are all over the place, but I’m going to an allergist soon to finally learn what’s really going on with my body. So glad to hear your cleanse is still going well and thank you for making videos like these because they are so helpful when I’m in a cooking rut and need inspiration! Maybe you can put a paper divider in your pumpkin seed and almond jar so that half of the jar is seeds on one side and almonds on the other, like those three flavored popcorn cans.
I’m genuinely curious…. where did you hear only 3% of vitamin A is absorbed? As someone who studied nutrition in college, I have never heard that. I can’t find any articles that confirm that either. Unless if you’re talking about beta-carotene? Which is the precursor to vitamin A. Or I could see supplements not absorbing as well.
Yes beef liver is a very high source of vitamin A, but chicken liver is also high and would still be part of your cleanse. Another good way to absorb vitamin A would be making sure you’re adding fats (olive oil, avocado, etc) with foods that are high in vitamin A because it is a fat soluble vitamin (meaning, needs fat to be absorbed).
I hope you don’t take this the wrong way, just want to educate. Please please avoid talking about nutrition without backing up your facts with science. You have about 100K people watching your videos every week and it’s really dangerous to say information that may be misleading.

Sugary cheat meal is just not worth it so don’t go there. If someone weakens and buys a bar of chocolate to cheer themselves up they need to think of the consequences and ask themselves if the cheat is just a one off or will happen again? I fasted for no longer than I normally do each day, after my weak moment which incidentally tasted not the same as I remember and also caused stomach cramps even after a bathroom visit.

This is what works for me… break your fast as you normally would, for me it’s always bone broth and about 4 oz of turkey breast, chicken breast, or tuna. An hour later.. self destruct and binge eat until you feel like throwing up. Then fast for the next 36-48 hours.

It’s not a “cheat meal”, it’s called life. One day is not going to setback your progress, just as nobody got a 6 pack in a day, no one is going to get morbidly obese in a day. Be consistent with making better choices most of the time, have fun, enjoy life.

Dude I ate half a stuffed pizza, half a pineapple pizza, half a tray of brownies and half a cinnamon roll pizza from papa murphies and I went down to normal size and weight within 3 days. Mind you I drank shit tons of acv and fasted 20-4 everyday for a week to recover. The day after I ate like shit I hit the gym and lifted heavy. Best pump I’ve had in awhile! Refeed/junky carb days once a month does wonders for me you just have to have the discipline to not eat a scrap of shitty food after

I am eating a nut free (accept for cashews), dairy free, wheat and gluten free, and shelfish free diet. One thing that helps me is rather than viewing it as what I can’t eat, I think of what I can eat. Especially when you get bored of eating the same few foods.

Someone else does activated charcoal when they cheat! I’ve been doing this for awhile and it seems to help. It reduces the bloating by quite a bit at the very least. I also notice carb loads make my body very thirsty for water, but I’ll usually just have a bit and just put up with feeling dehydrated in the morning. It’s that or have my sleep broken up by having to go in the middle of the night >.< Been using a kitchen lockbox lately, so if I buy junk food, I'll portion out what I'm allowing myself, and lock the rest away. Been working great. Might sound over-the-top to most, but I'm so bad at moderating with sweets.

I do Omad carnivore and every 5 to 7 days I do a carb refeed, whenever my joints hurt and have no energy. The refeed is a omad meal too. Rice or bread in it. Granola bar sometimes

I am mainly carnivore, but decided I’d better have keto type treats that were safe for me, because this stress is causing me to want to snack & normally I’m omad. I feel like if my emotional eating is too restricted…I will end up going overboard with sad food that the rest of my family eats. So, I’m allowing indulgences with the right foods. There’s an interesting thing called the Sinclair method I’ve been doing for about a year that helps reduce alcohol cravings (or unlearn the behavior) by blocking the opiate reward mechanism in the brain. The drug is called naltrexone, revia. Not the injection form but the pill. For those of us that are genetically predisposed to be very good at drinking alcohol, it works wonders. It’s the largest substance abuse study ever done and it has a 78% success rate. There was even a woman that did use it for chocolate.
The method is: take naltrexone, wait an hour, then drink. I went from a pint of whiskey on the rocks plus 6-7%+ abv six pack or 12 pack of beer a day 6 days a week, down to now I can’t stomach hard liquor or beer of any kind, red or white wine make me want to yack (because they taste like Shit). And in my drinking sessions I only get about 5 seltzers down before I feel like going to bed. And I’m down to at least 3-4 days a week no drinking. I still have a long way to go but it’s been a life saver.
There’s a book by Dr. Roy Eskapa that’s called “the cure for alcoholism” pretty sweet book. One doesn’t need to be a 1.75 L of vodka a day level of severity drinker to simply want to change their relationship with alcohol.
Love it Kurt. I did a high carb cheat day recently after 1.5 years of being strict. I wanted to see how it would effect my metabolism and fluid retention in the week after doing it. I also tried to lift heavy that day and next day to utilize the anabolic properties of insulin. My ideology behind my cheat was to not incorporate anything that would cause irritation to my gut. So although its usually thought of as bad in the standard american diet; I actually went with quick processed carbs that have no fiber, etc. So I got a low fiber (<2g) sugary cereal, some white pasta macaroni and cheese for lunch, pizza for dinner, ice cream for desset, and few hostess things for snacks in between I haven't had since I was 10 etc. I did not have things like fruits, vegetables, nuts etc. I knew I would explode with gas and feel sick. I ended up feeling decent, but mentally I felt poorly about doing it. I think I only want to do something like that maybe once per year if that. I think this cheat day up-cycled my insulin and beta-cell release, therefore lowering general BG for about 5-7 days allowing me to get a larger anabolic fat burn and muscle growth during workouts, especially during fasted exercise. The day after my cheat, I fasted 24 hours, then back into carnivore with not too much of an issue.

Thanks for another great video. What are your thoughts on the few incidences of people developing kidney or renal failure from taking chromium? Someone else reported hair loss which stopped after taking it. Dr. Weil suggests taking GTF chromium or chromium chelate only up to 1000mcg to avoid issues. Maybe just stop trying to ‘cleanse’ your Liver when (qualified) medical experts will tell you that the Liver can’t be, and doesn’t need to be, ‘cleansed’! Why don’t you stick a piece of stiff construction paper, or something to that affect, height wise down the center of the jars you want to split? Then poor one seed/nut type on either side. It would keep them from getting quite so mixed plus you can still use the same jar:)

I’ve competed in 8 shows now and this was the FIRST time I have been in a better ‘mental state’ to handle itI attribute it to keeping my weekly cheat meals in instead of being so strict like times before. Not sure if it cost me any extra leanness, but as far as negating post-contests rebound and having a positive reverse diet mentality I am definitely a cheat meal fan.

Thanks for the video I have lost around 11kg in the past 4 months of lockdown and have got to the point I’m scared to eat anything that I can’t find the exact macros/calorie information for, this is due to a fear of undoing my progress now that we are coming out of lockdown, I don’t have as much time on my hands to meticulously weigh food, and this has made me realise there’s more to life and that the best diet is a sustainable one I plan to just relax a bit with the tracking and instead be mindful of what I am eating and how much, I don’t feel a need for a set cheat meal, and I enjoy the benefits of eating healthy, but satisfying the odd craving now and then can’t hurt
