Obviously Dr. Greger has found yet another way to distort nutritional health practices, however I can’t say he’s totally wrong about this one. Eating whole foods is “generally” better than juicing, but Dr. Greger has missed the entire point of juicing. The point of juicing is to flood the body with an abundance of nutrients for specific purposes. If we’re healthy, and want normal intake of nutrients, then eating whole foods or having “smoothies” is perfect. But when it comes to juicing, a much higher quantity of veggies and fruits are required to create a glass full of juice than a glass full of smoothie. Juicing is equivilent to supercharging your nutrient uptake and despite the decrease in the percentage of fiberous content, the juice does contain some degree of fiberous material and those juices “comingle” with other foods and bacteria in our systems, generating great health benefits. My opinion is to continue juicing and take Dr. Greger with a health grain of salt.
I juice a lot but instead of losing the fibre I use all of the pulp each day in with any lentils, beans, rice, whatever I’m cooking that uses water and can be helped with a little more flavour etc. That way I get the fibre even if it is in a separate meal a couple of hours later. (I’m always a bit surprised when I see other ‘juice drinkers’ just throwing the pulp away!)

I have hypothyroidism and when I drank 16 oz of celery juice for 3 days my face and head felt extremely swollen and water-logged. One week isn’t enough to experience the full benefits of pure celery juice. I’ve been drinking 16 oz. daily for over a year. Drinking organic pure celery juice has helped my digestion and cleared up a lot of skin issues. I also feel my skin looks less wrinkled. I never mix it with other juices for my morning routine. I will also add that since I’ve been juicing in general has helped me feel more energized and most of all hydrated, I’ve also lost weight, drinking juices I find helps my digestion catch up to and gives it a break.

Dr. Walker was totally right by banning cooked starches from the perfect diet, the one that assures perfect health….the raw food diet infact.
Therefore I do not understand why you also advocate the Dr. Mc Dougall diet on your channel, which in fact might be heart-healthier than the standard diet BUT McDougall totally neglects the clogging properties of cooked starches AND the detrimental effects of gluten grains and non-gluten-grains on health.

My teacher played an episode in class of this man who traveled to the U.S. and only drank juice, he did this for 60 days without any food just juice. He was tired of being lethargic and sick all the time so he started the fasting trip. So that inspired me to eat healthy, or at least try to eat healthy. So I went out to go buy a juicer, I bought the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Pro Juicer. I love it! it’s amazing and I love all the combinations of juices I can make, but my one gripe is that it’s very loud so I have to use it when my family is awake. Interesting listen. “Chris Beat Cancer” is a big fan of juicing…especially when fighting cancer.
Juicing is great just add in what it takes out the importance of juicing is that the nutrients it does extract it multiplies and multiplies it so much that the nutrients you do get from juicing a cup or two you would have to eat baskets of that fruit. The problem with videos like this is juicing does and did cure many things but you can’t just juice you need solid you need fiber and what ever else juicing might take away.
The beautiful thing about juicing is unlike blending it multiplies the nutrients in the greatest way possible it is what made juicing popular anyways when it came out as something healthy. No doubt it takes fiber but no doubt it multiplies the nutrients it does give.
So just to get things straight. When you blend stuff you get a smoothie and when you juice stuff you get the less nutrition dense liquid? Or is blending just as harmful?

I am always curious about how studies are conducted. In this case, what type of apple juice was used in the study? Most store bought juices are made from concentrate. Lobbyist have been able to get laws passed where the juice producer can make a concentrate and anything they add doesn’t have to be included on the label. These type of juices are loaded with sugar, corn syrup etc. Basically, they‘re not juice at all.
Juicer is one of the greatest thinks human mades, and it’s definitely not been made for juicing fruits, which can be eaten quickly and digested easily. I need 1h30 minutes to chew bowl of green salad, anyway I enjoy eating it every day. Yes, I could do it in one third of the time, but how much would I get of it than, and how much would be simply thrown in the toilet, and how much would I stress my body to deal with half chewed food…. And there are veggies with cellulose to though for humans to digest in a raw form, soo you need to cook it instead. If I would not using juicer and blander, I could not been eaten all those veggies in a day. Yes, I could do it in a perfect world.
This whole video completely misled the juicers purpose. There can not even be a debate about that. What I get from this video is another doctor “glass half full” preaches about some another studies made by some another scientists. Anyway JUICER IS A GIFT FROM GODS IN THIS FASTLIVING, CRAZY WORLD.

It is a misleading narrative that “Ca makes strong bones.” It doesn’t, at least not alone. It basically makes chalk. IIRC, you need 18 minerals to make good bones, not the least of which is magnesium, which regulates pretty much every aspect of calcium metabolism, including managing vitamin D metabolism, from cholecalciferol to calcidiol, to calcitrol, as well, as well as being required for PTH and calcitonin to work correctly. In addition, ceruloplasmin bound copper is required. Unless, of course, you want CHALK FOR BONES. I don’t. I get my trace minerals, and I make sure to get higher levels of Mg than Ca (they compete for absorption), as well as retinol and copper so my ceruloplasmin can be activated by the ATP7B enzyme.

Wow, sure is hard to figure out who’s right and who’s wrong. I think I will do what Jack Lalanne did. He juiced till he was 96 years old and his health was incredible. As an athlete he was performing things at 80 that most high school kids couldn’t do. Yeah, I think the experts can keep there studies and I’ll keep my juice:-)

Dr. Gregor the adverse health effects of juicing fruits seem obvious, as it only leaves behind sugar (fructose). But what about juicing celery, broccoli or kale? Are there studies showing negative health effects of vegetable-juicing?
I had acid reflux and ulcer this help my body alot. And now its apart of my routine in the morning. Instead of coffee. I grab a cup of celery juice.
So then don’t juice so much fruit and juice more greens then add some of the pulp back in.
I was a juice phobe for years. But then I realize I get TONS of fiber, as a plant-based strict veg. Fiber is just about all I get. Tons of fruits and veggies all day, everyday. So, yes, I do now drink raw fresh squeezed juices and even store bought (100% real juice) concentrates for reasonably priced calories. The best of both worlds. I think the anti-juicing thing is more concerned with the processing and added sugar in some store “juice” and toward those who would try to live only on juice without fiber. Also, the cruelty industries are always on the attack of any source of calories that is not rotting corpse or bovine breast pus.

Juicing fruit is bad! What to do now: Juicing greens!
1)Do green juice with: cucumber, celery, parsley, dandylion, chard/spinage, other greens.
2)Make a smoothie out of the whole fruits you can get and the green juice you made before.

i can tell all of these are true, i feel all the benefit since started drinking 16oz of celery juice every morning last year.

Not only do they already get insufficient calcium, but this very same demographic consumes, on average, negligible amounts of fiber. C’mon man. Talk about splitting hairs… I’ve been juicing for 20+ years and all of my clients juice. I’ve only seen it make skin glow, increase regularity, and improve vitality. It’s supplemental. We’re still eating salads, whole fruits and other high fiber foods. Of course if you only drink sugary juices you’re going to have to regulate that sugar.
Many here miss the main benefit of juicing. It’s not that the fruit and vegetable juice is any better or healthier than the whole plant it’s not. The main benefit of juicing is that one can get a massive amount of easily digestible nutrition (vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, and enzymes) in a single glass of juice, whereas eating the whole fruit or vegetable would limit the amount of nutritional intake due to the bulk of the fiber. One glass of fresh juice could easily contain the nutrients of 7 to 10 fruits and veggies. It is highly unlikely that one would ever eat that many fruits and veggies, however. And with our modern, nutrient deficit diets, juicing can be a great addition to any dietary regimen.

I have watched many of his videos over the months. He always positions himself as a contrarian. Of course drinking high sugar juices like apple or orange juice could possibly be not as healthy as eating whole apples or oranges. But where he is totally, and I mean TOTALLY wrong is juicing of greens. I personally do both blended green smoothies and juicing. I have seen the results of juicing vegetables. It has turned my health around. Since the vegetable is a plant its predominantly water, juicing is more beneficial than eating whole as you are consuming “more” nutrients per weight/volume consumed.

People all these videos talking about fruits and veggies to help cure most human problems. It’s obvious the true answer is to going vegan, and cutting out all dairy, eggs, excessice oils (veg, conola, olive, etc.), Nuts, and processed sugars will most likely cure most of humans bad health, also might take you off of most of your prescribed meds. If you are taking meds talk to your doc about going vegan because there might be things you can’t eat and they’ll help monitor your progress.
Vitamin B12 supplements will give you energy and fix some nerve damage or pains but you have to take it daily. But you know not many people is strong enough to live without animal meat. There are great tasting alternatives like veggie meat. I’m not full vegan yet but I have certainly cut back on meat consumption to once a week, and I’ve been eating a mix of fruits and veggies daily, we need all the fibers that juices don’t have. I’ve also stopped eating processed sugars, don’t even drink juice anymore. Only water. I got used to it now after a month.

I just got a juicer…. celery, cucumber, green apple, lemon, ginger. 12-16 oz. soooo good. I used to use. blender but it was BOGUS. Dude, my ingredients are cold from the fridge and my juice is cold. Pure juice no water added. He adds water in the blender and the end result is watered down. He’s drinking TOO MUCH, that’s why he got the dookie diarrhea.

My nutritionist recommended 2 stalks per person up to 8 per week. That seems like an extreme amount that is recommended from that guy that made it popular. No wonder everything is evacuating. We juice 4x’s per week with turmeric, pepper, greens, lemon and apple.
If whole fruits are better than juiced fruit, does it make a difference if I add a cup of whole fruit, like berries, to water & drink the fruit water before eating the whole fruit? May be there is no scientific proof for it, but a kind of experiemental proof for the effect of celery juice and/or a celery-smoothie ( with the fiber in it). If I separate the juice I use the fiber in the next smoothie. From the taste I assume that is has bitter substances inherent which could explain the effect of pure celery-juice on the intestine.
It’s the whole food that seems to make it. Or how do you want to extract the postassium out of it to lower the blood pressure? If you take postassium separated you habe to observe how much you take in order to not get out of balance with other electrolytes.
A whole food celery oder any other fruit or vegetable has much more in it than science can proof true because science is limited to what they are looking and asking for and there might be much more do discover what we do not know today.
Always loved celery. Always readily available, never expensive or out of season, and tasty raw or lightly cooked. I add cut pieces and the leaves as fine additions to soup, being careful not to over cook, as excessive heat causes it to lose some nutrient value and flavor. Mom used to give us kids stalks about half filled w peanut butter way back in grade school days. Good health info, keep ’em coming!

As a public safety message, since you appeared to eat a stalk of celery straight from the market there is something to consider. Years ago, I worked as a meat cutter at a grocery store and noticed people often come in and handle the meat packages before shopping for produce. Many of them are seeping. This makes cross contamination a very real danger even if you buy the organic produce. It is spectacularly dangerous to eat unwashed produce from a store.

A wise old man sold me a blender in 1964 at the Pomona Fair. He was wise and I was just a very young lady, but what he said sold me on juicing. In his make shift manual he had celery juice as one of his favorite for the nervous system and many other benefits. He just blended one or two cups in a base of water or pineapple juice. He also said that fruit was our candy.

Hey! just wanted to let you know that when I researched celery juiced reading and watching videos that I realized that it would cost a lot. So I decided to grow my own celery at home. You can do this indoors or outdoors. I will be growing it on our back deck since I’m not aloud to grow it in the house. You can use seeds or the stalk that you get rid of. So if you want to save money I would recommend it. I haven’t tried it yet but i’ll get back to you on that.
Here’s a recommendation: Don’t throw away the pulp. The pulp is not only good fiber that cleans you out, but it’s also a good binding agent for your stool. This means less need to fully vacate your bowels after drinking. So just blend up your celery in the blender and pour into your cup. Sip & chug everything.
Wheat grass juice does the same thing. But you should leave the pulp out.

while you note that cloudy juice is better than clear juice, you fail to emphasize that whereas clear juice has negative effects, the cloudy juice does have positive effects. You might believe that the types of polyphenols which are strongly attached to insoluble fibers to be the most important, but the overall polyphenol levels measured do NOT support your claim that “the majority of polyphenol phytonutrients may be bound to fiber”.
Not only is most store bought juice filtered to the point of clarification, it’s also been pasteurized and is usually days if not weeks old. I’d wager those factors play a non-negligible role in the polyphenol phytonutrient content of store bought juice versus juice from a juicer. Just looking at filtration, most soluble and insoluble fiber is filtered out in store bought juice via diatomaceous earth and cellulose filters. Juice from a juicer typically undergoes only coarse perforated metal filtration which not only allows nearly all the soluble fiber to end up in the juice but a good amount of insoluble fiber as well along with whatever nutrients may be bound to them. It’s hard to say how much pulp the cloudy juice in the second study contained, but many juicers leave far more fiber than the cloudiest juices you’ll find in stores as anyone who has used a finer (though orders of magnitude coarser than diatomaceous earth/cellulose) mesh strainer on their juice can tell you. On paper, whole foods are generally superior to juicing, but there are many advantages to using a juicer that make it better for many people.

Juicing (along with healthy eating and blended vegetables) enables one to eat a high volume of nutritiously dense vegetables and fruits that would take hours to chew. I can juice a couple carrots, 1 cucumber, 3 handfuls of spinach, a head of Romaine lettuce and a 1/2 if ginger 10 minutes (including cleanup) and I have 16 oz of highly, highly nutritiously dense liquid food. The next day I will change it up maybe a beet, kale, small apple, lemon wedge, and maybe some cucumber folkstry this routine and you will stop getting colds Require a little less sleep, more energy. While a cleansing diet I ate half a kilo of celery one day. The next day my face (lips and eyes) were swollen and I looked deformed. I am not sure wether I have celery allergy. Do you think its safer to drink the juice rather than the whole plant?

Also my lips started getting blistered since consuming too much celery juice (2 to 3 bunches a day). I read that celery contains an antinutrient called psoralens that has been known to cause blisters on the hands of celery pickers. If it can cause blisters on the hands why not the lips? I wonder too if the antinutrient qualities from the psoralens were causing even less of what little magnesium and potassium that celery contains to be absorbed, causing my leg cramps. Too much of anything is bad I guess.

People discredit celery juice and love to point out that it came from a “Medium” and not a professional, yet they never reference Anthony directly unless its about him contacting of the spirits. Many people who fail on celery juice, dont actually eliminate the crap theyre eating from their routine, others dont listen to the instructions, and most probably dont buy the book. Funniest of all, Anthony never says this is your one stop shop for all nutrients, he advocates for veganism and vege based, or fruit based diets, and also says fruits are important. Some how in the cross hairs people misunderstood the material. The fiber in celery juice requires more effort and causes a different digestive process, where as juice and waters flush, there is no sugar present in celery juice enough for fiber to counteract so if dietary fiber is necessary, eat your fruit first thing after flushing with the juice. I’ve done different diets, and it’s not that they don’t work, but if my digestive track is smashed, my liver is on its limbs, my stomach doesnt produce enough acid, and I have little effective saliva, of course nothing is going to seem like it works and a lot of these health food changes are going to appear as merely trends. Veganism isn’t bad at all, but people bash it over the head like its a trophy hunt. If you wiki the nutrient list as well, if videos arent evident, and the testimonials in the comments arent either, do the research. It’s not that celery juice has been tested for its benefits in large or long term studies, it hasnt been tested at all for these new “discoveries”. crazy, first of all, the whole video is mostly about fruit. I juice veggies not fruit. Too much sugar in the fruit for juicing. second, he talks about the nonextractable polyphenols. My juicer leaves lots of fiber still in the juice!!!! plenty left over for the friendly flora!!! blending whips too much oxygen into the liquid and oxidizes the nutrients and can even turn it acidic.

I’ve been juicing for 5 days. I had a lot of sinus drainage and sneezing due to allergies. I never take meds for it due to it’s never been bad..this year it really has been difficult. Within 1 day of juicing my sneezing stopped 95%..every day I feel better, no conjestion or sneezing..Im sticking to it..will attempt to grow it to keep costs down.

I’ve been drinking the celery juice for 2 months already, it has helped lowering my high colesterol, 5 years in a row the blood work coming with high numbers until now, I do mix it with a beet and an apple for flavor and other benefits, I also take cinnamon and garlic vitamin while drinking it, all I can say is that it makes me feel very healthy. I have had the same effects from celery juice. The stool issue comes and goes. We’ve been doing it for 6 months now and I am usually just having a soft BM now, no explosive type. We drink 32 oz every morning. It has helped brain fog, inflammation, digestion, detoxing etc and I am sure things I don’t even know are happening. The skin breakouts are from the detoxing as I get those as well and am not taking B12 regularly. You must read Anthony’s books. I am 57 and I have never read so much good info besides the Bible in one book. If you have digestion issues you WILL end up with other problems in the future. Juice now. Three (3) weeks of following the recommendations of celery juice from the book Medical Medium Celery Juice by Anthony William and I can attest to the fact it has worked for me. I suffer from neuropathy pain in my toes. For the past 2 years I have had burning pain in my toes that at times got so bad it hurt to have my bed sheet touch them. Along with the pain I have numbness in my toes and feet. After 3 weeks of celery juice every morning on an empty stomach the pain in my toes is completely gone. I still have some numbness but not to the degree it was before the juice. I hope it will go away eventually too as I continue to drink the juice.

I am on a Keto diet and ” CELERY” has worked wonders for me. My nerve damage pain to my lower back has reduced beyond belief and i have lowered my medication by 60%. It’s great for intermittent fasting. If you have 2 to 3 sticks of celery while fasting during the day it does not ruin the fast. It’s so low in carbs and calories that it makes it so good for snacking when hunger pains arrive, that’s what i have experienced. I hope this has worked for other people who are dieting or reducing their pain. To reduce any pain can’t be a bad thing, it’s got to be better than pill popping!

One thing that isn’t mentioned is oxalates in celery. oxalates have been shown to cause kidney problems for many people so there needs to be more studies done on this obviously to ensure that it’s safe for long-term use. Whenever there is something being promoted as a ‘heal all’… I take that with a grain of salt no pun intended.
Be sure to use only organic celery. Conventional celery has a high amount of pesticides that cannot be washed off with a simple scrub. So pay the price. It is the healthy thing to do.
