wao, really appreciating you to reply all the comment with great explanation! well done
The wise stay financial stable by spending less and investing more and the unwise remains poor by spending more and yet not investing like the wise ones do..
I’m not even in college and I’m watching these kind of videos..
Can I study sports science and at the same time play a certain sport on a professional level with a professional club?
I wish I knew this major was a stepping stone when I first started. Smh
I am so happy to be part of this, hackslord, com sent me $20,000 immediately I paid my charges…
I’m 17 and planning to a bachelors in kinesiology. What’s the difference between kin and exercise science. I might proceed to a masters in kinesiology/human biology and exercise and then my plan is to work in a facility, company or hospital working with preventive medicine and (kinesiology) Does that sound reasonable??:)
Would this major be useful for med school? Or am I better off sticking to BIO with maybe some exercise science electives? Thanks
I got $30000 from fextyhackers.wordpress, com without stressing my self
As soon as you drop the parents will be proud joke, subscribed . I could deliver a baby on a crowded bus heading top speed towards the Empire State Building, saving everyone onboard and my parents still would say “eh” lol
Stupid video. Try getting ANY of those jobs. I can’t and I went to college. It’s tough these days just to get a forklift job. Everyone wants a minimum of 1-2 years experience. How to get it? Impossible. They will not even call you back. You will be seen as a fool.
omg vastlinkshack com helped me get money through their PayPal transfer
What do you think would be an ideal field of study to work as a S&C for athlete?
Can commerce student study and pass it,i mean if it requires good knowledge of physics chemistry math or not
What do I do if I have a job that takes 70 hours a week is super hard but pays good. Well pays good enough for me to pay my Bill’s and feed my family. I need a change in direction but this job is physically killing my body and I’m young. No one here stays more then 7 years without having to quit from labor being too hard on the body. I have a good mindset I am just lost…
I have a bachelor of exercise science degree, and everything you said in this video is correct.
Hello my name is rakesh
I’m an Indian I’m working as a fitness trainer from part 3 yrs and I want to study exercise science in out off countries will you please give the guidance
Great video!!! Can you update us on what exactly you do as a clinical exercise physiologist?? Please!!
I wished someone told me not to do exercise science when I chose my major seven years ago. Now I would be the “someone” to alert all of you not to do it and really not to become an exercise physiologist. the field has no regulation, no authorizing body, no state license, and are confirmed “death” by professors who held positions in ACSM before. if cardiac rehab is your love, pursue either nursing or PT is more viable
Now a days a degree can mean nothing. It’s all about people you know/meet and experience in a field. I’m 20 years old and my career path I want to take it definitely fitness and nutrition but like Marc said it’s all about the business side of it. Hell I’m 20 years old and I lay water main in the ground making upwards of $32 an hour (which is way more then most people with degrees are making) No degree, no experience, I know somebody in the company… It may be good ass money but it f*cking sucks! I’m going to continue to stay dedicated to my goals of getting into this industry no matter the money because it’s what I love to do. Money DOES NOT control your life. A man making $10 an hour can be happier then a man making double that.
Hi, I’m an international student that is planning to get a bachelor degree in exercise science and then masters in sports psychology because I love and I’m interested in both of these areas, but I don’t want to work at these field I want to learn them, to expand my knowledge because i want to be a pro athlete overseas after I will finish those degrees. Do u think this is a good idea? Thanks
Hi if someone has done bachelor’s in physical therapy and masters in kinesiology exercise science then what kind of career opportunities available for him
i love that your so brutally honest with people and dont sugar coat shit i love your videos bro!
I’m sure you mentioned it in this video but I’m gonna ask because I would like a bit more detail. So what kind of jobs related to fitness and science can you do from doing this major? Can you become a physiologist from doing this major EVEN THOUGH there is a major specifically called physiology?
Why in this world do we have to hurt the planet to gain our own benefits?
did you get a job right out of college? and do you believe you get paid well?
with a major in kinesiology he could become a physical therapist
Great video!
I graduated in exercise science in 2014 and found it very difficult to get a job that I wanted. The only jobs I could find were personal trainer jobs. I am currently going to graduate school in exercise science hoping to get a job as an exercise physiologist working at a hospital and possibly getting into teaching. But overall I really enjoyed the video great stuff.
awesome vid, man. I appreciate the honesty, preparing people for what they’re getting into, and offering alternative solutions.
Can you use this degree to become an excercise physiologist?
Hi! I currently attend Texas State University and am an ESS major! My concentration is pre-physical therapy, but I am interested in doing clinical exercise now. Did you have any trouble because your concentration wasn’t in clinical exercise? I don’t want to have to change concentrations which would change the courses on my degree plan
I am going to learn this major by English as a second language, none confidence left after seeing this video Lol
Hi coffeezilla fans, here is the article this video is borrowing from, I will do my best to cite articles I do research from in the future: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnbc.com/amp/2019/01/25/tk-jobs-that-pay-more-than-75000-that-you-can-get-without-a-bachelors-degree.html
hi,
do you know if I can become a exercise physiologist or cardiac rehabilitation with just a bachelors?
Unless you’re a smooth fuckin talker or character it’s hard to do anything in this realm
Honestly, I’m getting my undergrad in exercise science starting in the fall, I watched this video before enrolling, I fully know this is a stepping stone, I could be a personal trainer and self employed all the same without the degree. Luckily anything above a planet fitness/ymca in my area of NY requires you to have the bachelors which pay more and have job benefits ect. I feel I need the education, I feel we shouldn’t be able to do the things a trainer does to people’s bodies without a degree, I feel confident that I am future proofing my career by getting this degree. Going to orientation on wednesday, thanks for the video man xx
Hey i have a question. Chemistry, biology, and physics is a required prerequisite in most dpt program. How do i take these classes in my undergrad?
Bitcoin trading is really a life changer
I can’t believe it could be so profiting
Actually, you do need a BS degree to be a commercial pilot. My uncle is a commercial captian and my nephew is going to school to get a degree so he can do flight school and eventually become a commercial pilot.
For this of you that don’t know, all of the jobs, sources, and the exact wording that he spoke in this video was PLAGARIZED from a CNBC article. Go check out Coffeezilla’s YouTube channel for proof that this guy is nothing more than a scam artist stealing other people’s ideas, not giving them credit and profiting off of them.
Start your own business specializing in niche therapeutic training.
Damn I’m glad I found this video before I decided to switch my major to kineisology! I’m currently taking business classes ( sales and management ) but I really want to focus on the business side cause that’s where most of the money comes. I’m interested in doing marketing or management in the fitness industry as well.
lmao i was going to major in exercise science kin, but i switched into ATHLETIC trainer undergrad 😉
Hello, I am a pre-nursing student right now, and is taking courses for exercise science as a backup. But what I want to know is, what medical/healthcare field can I go to?
Prosthetics?
I have a personal trainers cert…and must admit..it really isn’t as good as i thought..turning a passion into an obsession tends to be problem for most.
I’m thinking about physical therapist or a athletics coach, o getting an aquatics minor. I haven’t told my parents as I do not think they’d be very thrilled, I’m also looking into nursing. Good thing I’m still in high school!
what is the differences between Kinesiology, Exercise science, and Exercise physiology?
Even if one were to major in buisness and minor kines you still will have a hard time finding work. I say that because the minor would imply that you are particular with what administration position you would like the fill. The fact is that the supplement industry may be booming sales wise but they occupy a very small percentage of the workforce. we’re talking less than 1%. Of course if your outgoing and vocal and etc you will probably be lucky.
If you shave that beard you’ll look like you’re in your 20’s. o:
Thank you so much for making this video. It’s very sweet of you to go out of your way to tell people about your experiences.
Hey I just have a quesiton surronding the end goal. I am hoping to be a dietician and use this as a pathway to the masters of dietetics. I plan to major in nutrition. Is the course helpful in that way? and what are the core subjects like?
Hey quick question. Do you think an associates degree in exercise sciences can get you a decent job in maybe in the physical therapy or sports medicine field?
Wow, you age so well like those Asian.
You look as young as an average 38 years old American!!
Keep it up!
Finding the right job to learn and growth with is essential.
Can you tell me if there is a difference between Exercise Science Vs Applied Fitness. Also, if you graduate with a Bachelor degree in Exercise Science would you be able to work with professional teams [soccer for instance] as a fitness and conditioning coach? Lastly, is there a difference between Exercise Science and Spot Science? Thx.
So I have been going to school to become a Occupational therapist assistant. I applied to my program and didn’t get in last May. I’m not sure if I should just get my Bs in exercise science at the University and then go back for Ota or Pta. What would you recommend? Do the 2 years see how I like it then go back or just do it all now?
I just started colleges I was majoring in biology. I started off strong but then slowly went down hill. I didn’t like it at all. So I panicked and decided to switch majors to ex science because AMP is a really fun class to me learning about and its more hands on then biology major tbh. I still wanna be a doctor so i hope i do well in this new major.
If I want to become a physical therapist in the future would it be better if I did a major in biology or exercise science?
So if you want to be a Physical Therapist, and not take exercise science because you cant do much with it after, what other alternative major would you suggest on taking or should yo just take exercise science either way bc its a stepping stone? I hope my question makes sense and thanks for the info given in this video!
Andre, I love your videos and spirit but those are not jobs that are available all over the U.S. or for most women.
I’m in my second semester of college right now pursing an exercise science degree. I wanted to do physical therapy because of the pay but my true passion has always been training people. I’m really considering dropping out. I don’t want to waste time and money. I don’t know what to to do. I like strength and conditioning working with kids and stuff but then I would have to stay the full 4 years and pay off all the loans with the little salary that Im getting. I really don’t care about the money anymore, that’s why I’m not pursing physical therapy. Should I stay in school or should I drop out and get my certification as personal trainer. I used to train my friends all the time in hs, and I loved it. I used have a group of kids wanting to workout with me because the results I was getting. Then I’m thinking if I drop out I won’t have any safety net. As you can see it stressed out ♂️ and lossed right now. What should I do? What’s your opinion. Ps: I’m only 18 freshman year of college seconds semester
Massage Therapy school, 30+ years of Martial Arts, and fitness training classes has been sufficient for me to be a personal trainer. To say “it’s crazy not to need a degree to be a personal trainer” is insulting. What’s the actual purpose of this video?
You had me at 0:15 with your pec twitch! And thanks for s truism. It is so much about business and marketing. It is not so much who you know, as it is who knows you. Too bad colleges short change us science majors by placing so many hours on lab work and nothing on resumes, marketing, and biz. A degree and all rejects. Bummer. I use TFH Touch for Health in a more specific way/ Now I just have to find a way to promote me.
Would a bachelors degree in exercise science help me with becoming a Physical therapist? What do most Physical therapists major in college?
This is one of the most entertaining videos I have ever watched.
hey tony, have u considered the Marines? they Love athletes and u will be an automatic leader as a college grad u go in as an officer U will use ur skills seriously to train Marines to be prepared for physical jobs like long marches or 5 mile runs on sand.. or pushups or weight training etc… just a consideration. also with ur degree why not look into becoming a strength and conditioning coach at a high school for their power performance athlete’s like baseball, basketball and football player’s who need explosive movements and drills to prepare them for contact sports.. and u also mentioned A.T.P. “athletic trainer ” th as another great career filed that u can bridge into with a few more classes..
Hard working*** I got As but I had to work and imply myself.
Didn’t post the source article until you got caught plagiarizing other people’s work. How ethical.
Copying other people’s work is not “research”.
Applied for Kinesiology twice and couldn’t get in…Just not a science guy to save my life. But looking back on it now, I’m grateful I didn’t get in, and that I’m taking business. When you make a PASSION a CAREER, it may result in you being completely over-absorbed with it in your life. Take a step back, and really think about how it will impact you when your done your degree. Personally me, i love being able to get home from school, and go smash it in the gym-my free time, always will be.
Great video I’ll be graduating from a bachelor in Kinesiology and definitely can become a registered Kinesiologist and will be able to work in clinic settings
Thanks for sharing your experience. You don’t know how much it means for a first year going into kinesiology program.
Q: what do you think about getting a kin diploma and becoming a rmt? I’m not really sure how it works but I was wondering if you know anything about massage therapy.
Great insights Tony thanks for the information. I’m an older guy pursuing a degree in Excercise Science and Fitness Management and this video gave me a lot to think about.
I’m a random animation and motion graphics major here, drawing at 1am, watching this video… Learn something new each day
good vid bro. im ex sci major graduating next semester. i hate when ppl say ex sci. is easy major too lol i put lot of time and dedication on my upper div course like anatomy, ex phys, biomech,. anyways i really loved my major and learned alot from it. my next step is grad school:)
okay but lets be real. most jobs straight out of a bachelors degree are not high paying. instead of saying “kinesiology is a shitty degree” lets just say “any bachelors degree is pretty much useless today unless you plan on continuing your education.” a bachelors is the new high school diploma.
I’m going to start my sports science course in October but I wanted to know what you think about having long hair while on the course as a guy. Will it even matter at all? Would it seem odd for the other students on the course due to most people having their hair short.
i was doing this but was failing so i said fuck it and now im gonna get my diploma in jazz. music is better right?:p
Thanks for making this video! I graduated with an Exercise Science degree 2 years ago and am wondering if you might have any recommendations for becoming a certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist and what that process looks like?
I wanna be a firefighter but ik I’m not gonna make anything what is a 2nd job for a firefighter
can someone help me in elevator repairer? I been looking for months but no luck here in Los Angeles
great video marc, as im sure you know there are plenty of us in this very same spot. Question possibly for another video: For people interested in the health and fitness field and looking to get into the business aspect of it for a career, what positions are there within a company that pay well and feed our hunger for health and fitness?
Thanks broskee, keep goin hard!
I ordered from you and I’m still waiting for the shipment passed that date it was supposed to ship
Engineering and Exercise Science surprisingly do not have to be that far apart.
Two out of the three Biomechanics professors that I have gotten to know at my university previously were previously engineers before making the switch to Biomechanics.
I am a past student of SUNY Cortland.
Would I be able do the same kind of work with a physiology degree?
Curious to watch this now running into it since I graduated last year with a BS in Kinesiology & apparently this video came out the year I graduated high school & was entering uni. It was also around the same time I found your channel for supplement advice. Sooo I might be biased because I graduated & plan on becoming a physician & you need a degree, obviously, to become a doctor but honestly… kinesiology gains you more knowledge than a typical trainer. I switched to kinesiology from bio degree bc I was a highschool athlete & was more interested in the subject.Labs involved using hightech equipment to personally find our own VO2 max, speed, power, accurate body fat %. We have that knowledge. Try asking your gym trainer about how to find those specific #’s so you can scientifically know how to up your performance… they’d prob use bro science. All my professors are very aware of bro science & correct it accordingly. If you have a kinesiology degree, you prove you have the knowledge to do research for Nike or other big brands with sponsored athletes or work with professional teams as a trainer/professional. Ive done research for Nike as an undergrad & they give you chance to work at the headquarters and pay you as an intern. They also give you housing. I’m not talking doing the buisness side, spending 2 hrs to talk money with an athlete or some storeworker. I’m talking training or researching for pro athletes who know they need your knowledge to train them optimally & you’ll build a close friendship with them. I honestly don’t know any well respected trainer at any big companies/sports teams who don’t have some type of degree in sports science. I’m not talking for celebrities.. I’m talking actual team athletes. I’ve had friends come to me for training & sports therapy advice. Go watch ‘Anatomy of a (athlete)’ on the Olympic Channel or Nike Sports Training Lab on YouTube, thats what equipment I learned to use & how to apply it to increase performance.
Guys, if he lies on this, can you imagine what else is he stealing? Oh, it comes back in the form of cancer btw. I think they call it Karma or something like that.
Great Info!
Currently a Clinical Exercise Physiologist in a hospital out patient cardiac rehab setting, and I 100% agree. This is a passion driven field.
If all you out there looking to get into Exercise Science, ask yourself, why? To make a ton money? To help others achieve a better life? Because the question you should be answering yes to should be the second of the two.
For those looking to drive further financially, pre-med school, nursing school, or even clinical sales are all careers in which income will take a step up, keep in mind the costs that come with that.
In all, ideally you want to be happy and excited for work everyday, or else things get old and boring real fast, regardless of income level.
Just my two cents,
Good luck out there!
Now Sports Scientists work with professional teams/ sports organisations / governments etc. IMO anyone that comes out of University with a sports science degree and works as a PT afterwards either didn’t give a fuck about there degree or is selling themselves short. The same goes to S+C degrees / Kinesiology. As someone doing a Sports Science degree I find people really do underestimate the amount of work and effort that is needed to do well. We are more than just glorified babysitters.
Thanks for adding the, “UNLESS you’re getting a Masters”! Most people who go into Kinesiology shouldn’t be looking at the money, but the passion of it! Great advice man!
Why does he sound more convincing then presidential candidates
Here the thing with my issue’s,even with a 75 k a demand and are still pushing the issue of 1200 a monthly rent ill the energy bill’s are high each time we use it water bills as well gas bill too gas for vehicle car insurance as well so eventually I won’t have any money to use at all sucks still whoever makes the money should be paying us more eventually the money does go back into the community so why make it so lawfull
Good video. I’m a high school teacher trying to arrange a shadow day visit for a 12th grader interested in kinesiology. What specific type of professional in this field would you suggest I approach to inquire about a shadow visit?
Can you make a video for night time job without having any degree? I really need a night time job or second shift so I can do day trading
I want to go into the field of physical therapist….should i major in exercise science?
I wanted to know if it would be worth it to study kinesiology as a major because at the moment i really want to pursue as a health/fitness blogger. And to be successful, it would probably be a good idea to get a well rounded education on the subject. I am very young and probably shouldn’t be worrying about this now, but am i on the right track?
What about the field of biokenitics do you know anythin about that? In my country of South Africa biokenitics is offered to sport science graduates in honours year. Let me know?
The problem with pilot is that it takes like 80 grand to get all of your hours and certifications just to take a job for 30 grand for like 2 years as an instructor to build hours. Still a great career just more hoops to jump through then you made it seem
I have a BS in exercise Science and am going back for a MBA. I have coached gymnastics for over 15yrs and have personally trained at many levels. What Marc said is true. There is a very small market for Kinesiologist or ES.
I am currently in the same situation. I am one year away from graduating at CSUN with a degree in Exercise Science. My initial plan was to become a physical therapist but I feel like I just chose to focus on that because everyone wants to do that. My girlfriend recommended that I pursue my masters degree in business. I think I am heading towards working in a facility that promotes fitness and wellness as an administrator? Regarding the video, you gave an awesome explanation and I couldn’t agree anymore with your opinion. This is my first time watching this video and I enjoyed it. Thank you!
Andres
Jesus Christ! exercise science? WTF is wrong with these colleges now??? such ridiculous majors that are obviously made for the mass of ghetto fucking minorities to keep them down and keep voting democrat. who the fuck would hire anybody with this shit? I went to school everyday for 4 years to learn the perfect push up.
what a fucking tool. has anybody noticed Asians now are low leveled pussies now?
When you procrastinating so hard that you star looking for a job
Damn Andre, thought were one the honest good ones. Its too bad, you’re a likeable guy except when it comes to your own research. Next time at least site the resources or persons you plagiarized. I strongly doubt he or she got paid as much as you did, greed kills!!
Lol. A white ripp off of hodge twins. Same intro and mannerisms
I believe any degree is fantastic but it depends truly on your own skills and experience. If you settle for a regular bachelors degree and just do basic P.E, well your asking for nothing. It depends also on your area where your located. This man was in Cali so yeah pointless for him to do that. Business was a smart move. But Kinesiology is amazing if your a sport lover, Id chase becoming a collegiate trainer or physical therapist but pursue a Masters and the ball is always in your hands trust me, 65,000 and above and that’s not including moving up!
What about a Masters degree in Exercise Physiology with regards to job prospects? I have seen entry level physical therapy job listings that only require Masters and they seem to pay decently. Not sure what to believe though since I have not yet had experience in this field. Let me know your thoughts!
Im a communications/Public Relasions major and Kin minor. Certainly agree with you. I think you should first get the marketable skills/education, and then have that sort or background in exercise science so that you can do what you enjoy, as well as specialize in something that can actually earn you a decent pay.
I do not owe anyone anything now with the help of, e a s y l a p t o p l i f e.c o m
Hey Tony, Thanks for answering my question bro. Really have been thinking about what future I want recently and the real reason I have come to this questioning is because of the constant hard work we put in, to try to help others in the fitness industry and the constant let downs from clients not showing to sessions from time to time. There are 100’s of students all competing towards the same goal realistically for 3 to 4 years and at the end of the day its a degree that just restricts you more then you could ever imagine once graduating. It’s great to know all this stuff but as a pt already, working towards a $40,000 debt and knowing you will have the same issues as a cert. 4 personal trainer has once spending 3 years for this major is a joke. Unless you direct yourself into the fields you spoke about in the video, and spend another 2-6 years completing a post graduate course. Then also to find out you still aren’t able to gain a stable career that you have worked so hard for. Love to hear your comments about your plans now and thanks for being so honest here for the world to see.
Good luck with everything Tony, Peace.
whats required to become a Exercise Physiologist? like education and certification process
I’m a railroad utility inspector and make about 130k a year. No college.
I totally agree what you have said and I have just finished my degree in sports science as well. It just feels like you can do all kinds of jobs but at the same time none of them. I literally have no idea what to do next. Anyways, may I ask what are you working as right now?
Awesome video.
1000% true. Just the degree alone is not worth it, unless you continue you on for a masters or doctoral degree. Most entry level exercise jobs doesnt even require a degree.
Thanks….. But I found by doing Grad diploma level 7 in Sports and Exercise Science is wasting my father’s money cuz I haven’t got any Job. I am Physiotherapist and further continue my study in Sports and Exercise Science from New Zealand. And got nothing after doing it. Not even in NZ, Australia and even at in India. So depressed now
What about a combination degree? My school’s program is a combination of a batchelor’s in exercise science and a minor in business administration. You get a degree in both. Will this give me more options?
Im about to freshmen majoring in this. What kind of jobs can you get right out of the gate with a bachelors?
Can you build a business like gym, recreation center with this degree?
What are you doing now? How’s your life & where are you now?
I’m a exercise major and one thing that I can tell you is that what ever degree you choose, don’t do it for a job. do you know what job stand for? JUST OVER BROKE! meaning that you will never make more than your boss. FUCK A JOB! do it because you have a passion in your health, fitness, or just knowing your own body and that information will open other doors on finding something you’ll enjoy doing. My plan is to have my own gym and be my own boss, I don’t plan to use my BS when i’m done with school but I love working out and if I love something, why not understand how to do it properly? After you graduate and obtain your degree, the degree is not gonna mean nothing, but what you got out of it is whats worth millions.
I got $30000 from fextyhackers.wordpress,com without stressing my self…
Hey I’m 14 and I’m considering getting a degree en exercise physiology what classes would you recommend I take in high school?
Fuck I wish I did this. I do PT now but a bachelors in exercise phys is such a waste
Good shit fuck that I’m not doin kinesiology anymore might go for sports management or business management
Did he just say that they will take a little of your money I’m fuck’d that is stealing
This got me so excited! im starting my first year this coming September. Hoping to become a trainer/physio therapist. Not 100% yet but something in athleticism. basically everyone in my family sits at a desk or stands in a classroom for a living. and then moment I graduated highschool I decided I wanted to be physically fit and active as a career and help others to.
Great Video Andrei!!!
I’m sad Air Traffic Control isn’t on here. I make $151k/yr working overseas (Tax free up to 107k) on a US contract with paid rent and food (financial minimalism). I’ve Been in this career since I was 19 years old, debt free since 25 and now I’m 31 and investing diversely. No college degree. The best thing about this job is time. I have time and energy to research and create side hustles for passive income.
I really appreciate and enjoy all you do but you left a job out. The job is commercial truck driver. You only need a CDL and don’t really need to drive over the road. I work 4 days a week delivering food to YUM Restaurants and home daily and that pays over $80k if I work 5 days a week than that will pay or $100k. I really feel that profession should of made the cut. Either way Great job.
First year in community college, I’m on my way to major in kinesiology. I hope to one day understand the body in a way I never knew was possible. Also wanna minor in space science lol I know the two are almost not similar at all but it’s what I wanna do. Remember guys don’t think too hard on your choices, just follow your dreams and do whatever it takes!
Would you recommend a exercise science or athletic training undergraduate degree for physical therapy?
Fextyhackers.wordpress, com has done it for me again kindly visit them
Commercial pilot license takes 250 hours which cost 30k-50k. Going to flight school will be upwards of 200k in debt start to finish
Hi Badriah, I’m currently attending Texas State too (GO BOBCATS) and I was wondering where and what did you do to get an internship in your current profession. Great video and hope your doing well
Major in exercise physiology, one extra year of university, well worth it, lots of work, pretty good pay.
very informative video, where there any regrets as far as which major you choose? perhaps a different one that may have served you better in the career you ended up loving. I was wondering because Im looking at a few similar degree plans such as exercise science, kinesiology, athletic training, and physical therapy, I’m sure there’s pros and cons each depending on specific career you want to get to, but in your experience what is more practical. again thank you for opening up about your experiences post grad, gives me and I’m sure others a little more to think about.
I was going to major in Music, last semester I took many music classes and I ended up hating most of them I felt like I wasn’t going anywhere. So I had to give it up plus music its very difficult to make a living out of it even worse than being a trainer. I decided to major in Health and Wellness which includes being a personal trainer but also there are more opportunities besides being s trainer. You can work at a hospital and do some therapy on patients and on the side be a personal trainer.
Hello! My name is Kasey and I am currently a sophmore at UTSA located in San Antonio, TX. I am a an athletic medicine Kinesiology major and intend on going to Physical Therapy school to become a Physical Therapist. I am contemplating about still going that route because I just found out I am pregnant and me and my boyfriend are moving back to Houston to be with our families. I really appreciate this video because it really gives an insight on showing people what this major is really about and what it can do for you! I am now thinking about being a personal trainer/dancer because it is not as much work as a PT and I have always had a passion for dance as well as health and fitness. I hope to someday open up my own dance studio and/or gym, but I know that will require a lot of money investments and maybe even a business degree. If you have any suggestions about opening up your own business as well as having an educational back ground to help you with it, please let me know! I know being a PT you will be eventually guaranteed to make a lot of money, rather than getting a BA in Kinesiology and trying to find a good job out of college. My email is [email protected] if you wanna respond, or just comment back! I am thinking about creating a YouTube channel just for health and fitness/dance because I realize the more publicity you have, the easier it will be to get clients and have people come to your building to work/take classes.
fextyhackers.wordpress, com help me a lot, i really appreciate them
majoring in kinesiology as well and it definitely isnt easy. going to start physiology this semester and my final semester at a community and transfer to a four year so im just getting started
I soo much enjoy working with emmynitehackers.wordpress, com because they are fast in their transaction…
When I get up in the morning I ask myself do you wanna be depressed today or do you want to live happy and I choose to live happy one of his best intros
Thank you for sharing your story! It is really inspiring you have helped me so much!
I graduated with excise science not that long ago. I work as a rehab tech full time and work as fitness specialist at a fitness center part time. I agree with you 100%. I’m very passionate about it and would not change it. However, I agree it is a stepping stone degree. I wish I would have known that. I’m working towards my master’s degree in exercise science and want to do cardiac rehab. I didn’t have the grades for PT school. What are you doing now? Thanks for the video!
Hi Danielle, im nutritionist, herbalist and fitness expert. I would like to move in Malaga and find fitness or wellness centers!
I got my Bachelors degree in exercise science and I worked in a gym doing corporate wellness at a big company. I was only earning $28,000 salary. I also did personal training on the side to make ends meet. I then decided to go back to school for nursing and now I’m a registered nurse. I think getting a degree in exercise science is waste of money unless you want to continue your education and do physical therapy. Don’t make the same mistake as me because student loans are a bitch.
you’re literally in you’re thirties??? there’s NO way you’re 55……………..!?!?!?!?!
EXCELLENT VIDEO for those majoring in Exercise Science!!!. One Question Though… Where are you know in your journey?.
kinesiology as I.am taking is not only a major.that allows you to become a trainer it is a program that can be used as a foundation to get into many lucrative careers you can get into physical education, the medical field physio sports medicine, alone though the degree is excellent for anything sports science related such as exercise physiologist, kinesiologist strength and conditioning coach but yes getting it alone limits you a bit but.not.only to.a trainer however if.you use kin as your foundation and get into those fields as I mentioned earlier you can make a great living it doesnt have to be taken as your minor and then get into business, the program opens many doors it all depends on what you want to do with it after
Great advice! At one point, I wanted a kinesiology degree but decided to get a NASM certification, get into the field and learn the business side. Best decision I made. I’m not making a shit ton of money but $60,000/year and looking to move that up to $80,000 next year is not that bad. I agree with you to minor in it and learn the business! Keep rocking, man!
I wish you would have made this video about a year ago Marc haha. I got certified to train a few months ago and for some reason never realized how shitty my hours would be… I’m thinking about going back and getting a business degree and someday starting a gym and then maybe train on the side.
Hello Badriah! I wanted to know how was your experience studying for the CES? I noticed you wont get hired or given a opportunity to get experience in a Rehab center if you don’t have this exam?
So I’m a few months away from graduating with my PhD in kinesiology & im gonna have to disagree with your last few sentiments regarding jobs/stepping stone. I’ve had job offers with my bachelors coming out my butt. There’s over 4,000 jobs on indeed in my state with “exercise science” or “kinesiology” in the job description/title. You listed barely any of the jobs available with our degree. I think it’s very much an American thing but if you take your degree overseas, there’s even more jobs available. I understand what you mean in terms of it’s not exactly streamlined but there’s a plethora of different jobs available for just a bachelor in exercise science. The video is quite old so maybe it’s just times have changed as I was in my 3rd year when this video came out but it’s certainly very different now
I graduated with my masters in exercise science in 2017 and finding any kind of suitable work with this degree is almost impossible. Even if you can find work, most jobs require a substantial amount of serving customers/clients/patients which is not my forte. My degree program was heavily focused on doing research, writing out reports, analyzing data, and doing presentations. I gained almost no practical skills outside of the research component. Since graduating, I have only been working jobs that require nothing more than a high school diploma and at or near minimum wage. I will be starting a masters in data science this fall. Hopefully, the advanced data analytic skills I will acquire from this degree program in combination with the fact that it is a quantitative/computer science related degree I will be able to land a data analyst job that will enable me to work towards becoming a data scientist.
I wanna study BS exercise and sports science major in sports management but i have a doubt cause I’m not an athlete and sporty, I’m just thinking if it’s okay tho?
You can go onto physiotherapy school and get your license, isn’t there a lot of money in physiotherapy?
Thanks man, I just made a switch to Kin and wanted an overview! Just wrote kin degree in the search bar and you were the first video.
After the BSES degree a MA in Applied Exercise Phyisology or a PhD
did you receive your master in exercise science, or did you do it for undergraduate?
Easily transitions into Physical Therapy school, Occupational Therapy, Exercise Physiology, Physical Ed. Teacher… Plethora of career choices…
I have a question, I’m thinking about taking a Kinesiology major for a associate degree, can I use that degree to make me eligible to take the Physical Therapy Assistant Exam and become a PTA?
Can I become an exercise physiologist with only a bachelor degree in kinesiology or would I need grad school
I was wondering if you knew if I could major in kinesiology exercise science and do occupational therapy? Or do I have to do the kinesiology health major?
This video was very helpful! I had had someone talk to me about being a Kines. major and it just flew right over my head haha, but you do a very good job of explaining the steps to take after the major which i think is what most people are confused about. Thanks!
Hi, I just graduated from CSULA in Kinesiology: Exercise and Human Performance. Any advice to get into clinical exercise physiologist?
[email protected] yahoo.com Here is my email so you can let know the steps, thanks.
Hey, i also want to study sports science. Is Germany a good country for it??
how good should i be in physics and maths?
.because i am slow in maths and and i have a hard time remembering physic derivations
but i love parkour, nutrition, fitness, health and athletism.
and this course attracts me
Would this be a good stepping stone for becoming a dietician?
Hey Marc, what do you think of majoring in Nutrition? I am a 2nd year Nutrition Major at Cal Poly SLO!
try athletic trainer for a high school or J.C. get a lot of hands on experience and also good career path then advance to division one school or go pro..
there’s options. U just need too research and be passionate about ur choices. if it’s who u are and what u love then do it for those reasons. if ur pursuing money. then become a banker or pro poker player. or some jazz… but u think musician’s or pro Dee jays do it for the cash? name it’s because they luv music. and they can’t envision doing any thing else in life. of ur a gym rat and u want to help people then ur like jack la lane. and look at his career he loved it and he’s a fitness icon…
Great video! I currently attend Texas State University and am an ESS major! My concentration is pre-physical therapy, but I am interested in doing clinical exercise now. Did you have any trouble because your concentration wasn’t in clinical exercise?
4 times advertisement while watching your video congratulations your rich through YouTube
EXACTLY what I’m doing, Marc. Business major at Indiana University and minoring at exercise science. Very reassuring to hear you recommend the same thing.
(crazed jester) i put this into youtube i found you. my anty worked as a Nurse for 20 years she told me if i toke Kinesiology in Canada it opens up a lot of doors and i could work in Hospitals and lots of other places. some Students at the collage not far from my home already got a job. most likely is only 13$ 17$ an hour
Thanks for the great content and humor! Really gives me hope that I can obtain financial freedom too:) subscribed!
Hey Marc,
I’ve been a huge fan of yours since I saw your video on personal training as a career and why its a bad decision. I instantly became a subscriber. I have a question; I earned a kinesiology degree and I now know I can go back to school for a masters. What area in business is safe for finding a job when I graduate???
This video was very helpful! I am a senior in high school and I’m currently deciding on what path i want to take in college, there is a lot of controversy when it comes to an exercise science major but your video was very positive and inspirational!
+Tony Do, i am very interested in therapy but im not really a sporty person, should i still go for this degree?
My cousin work fir computer software and his college major was exercise science. I think college major not a big deal for finding a good job. I think if u have a degree in major is a plus. Wat u think?
How are you able to use an exercise science degree in tennis since I am passionate about considering a career related to that?
It should be pointed out that, while you CAN get a certificate, A LOT of companies require a BS to do the job now. If you’re gonna get a certificate, I hope you have the money to set up a private gym to work out of because finding a job with a certificate is becoming a rarity!
Are there jobs related on research in this feeld? I like the physiology, anatomy and biomechanics part, and I’m little lost on what to persuade on my master’s degree because I don’t know how far I can go on the science part of this degree and to what jobs it can lead to, I’m not so much interested on the hands on sports jobs. Also I’m not referring to America.
Thanks so much for uploading this. I graduated last summer with my bachelors in exercise science and it’s felt like I hit a wall ever since then as far as trying to figure out what the next step is in my career. Just recently I’ve been doing a lot of research on this particular career and I’m really interested in what it has to offer, as far as the correlation it has with my own personal values. I definitely plan on doing some shadowing soon enough and hopefully, things start to clear up a bit and I don’t feel as stuck as I have been ever since graduation. Thanks again for this
Thanks for the video. I have a bachelors in exercise science. I recently decided to go back for my masters when PT school didn’t work out. I want to do exercise physiology and personal train.
Bro who made that speech in the beginning I’m screaming!!!
Everybody has a Bachelors nowadays. In Australia, Masters are what get you the high paying jobs. They will choose the individual who has a Masters compared to a Bachelors graduate. Im currently studying Sports Science. My aim is to complete this degree and do a Masters in Clinical Practice Sports/Exercise Science to become a licensed Exercise Psychologist working at hospitals/clinics.
Well…you can become a strength and conditioning coach for college and professional teams. That’s why I picked the major.
I want to become a physical education teacher. And that requires a bachelors degree. What info do you have on that??
You seem like a reasonable guy. I was in school for 3 1/2 years as a pe & he student. Now 3 years later I would like to not waste my credits I have and finish my degree but doing it in pe & he is not an option because I have a full time job and would not quit job to student teach (and dont want to be a pe teacher or just work in school system). This is why I thought ex sci would be a good degree to obtain because its closely related to pe&he. I already have a cert in personal training (not NASM but i still got work). I figured I could finish it online n could get it done in 1 1/2-2 years at most. Just curious if u still think its a waste of time/money given my specific circumstances. Do i plan on going to PT school or something like that after…not really but I would say it would be good to have option. what do u think?
Thanks man! I’m studying Exercise Science this year at Ohio State… like you I am passionate about fitness, exercise, and health but don’t know what I want to do (career wise). I’d like to travel when I want to (not tied down to one place) and not be dependent on someone else (not tied down to one company) I’m thinking about doing research: do they have a career name for that? Thanks man, keep up the good work!!
As a young entrepreneur (14 age turned 15 yesterday) Learn a lot because in 1 year you can learn so much. I already know how to trade in The forex Market and strategies, how it works, the psychology and even my own philosophy in life. Take at least 2 hours a day to learn a new skill and put it and see what suits you.
Would a masters in business be good to pair with this degree? I’m halfway through my E.S. degree and still have no clue what I’m going to do. Having second thoughts after watching this.
yo man. I want to major in Kinesiology to become a physical therapist and personal trainer. My main aim is to help people reach their goals and to rehabilitate people with injuries. I would like to one day open my own practice with a gym. Is a major in Kinesiology the right way for me to go, or are there other majors that will be more beneficial for me to complete? Thanks man
Lmao using Joel Osteen clip it’s priceless. And you are going straight to hell my friend lol
The rich stay rich by spending like the poor and investing without stopping then the poor stay poor by spending like the rich yet not investing like the Rich
I’m doing Business Marketing and Kinesiology. I don’t want to waste my time and not that I’m hanging onto your every word. Thank you for confirmation bless!
I’m interested because the knowledge gained would be useful AF. You have only one body, so it would be a good idea to know how to take care of it. I have tight hips and once in a while my back goes out really bad. I have physical jobs and it costs me a lot. I want to learn how to fix myself and show others how to do this he same. The physical pain and financial hardship is too costly not to.
What do you guys think is the highest paying job you can get with a degree in kinesiology?
I wanted to know if it would be worth it to study kinesiology as a major because at the moment i really want to pursue as a health/fitness blogger. And to be successful, it would probably be a good idea to get a well rounded education on the subject. I am very young and probably shouldn’t be worrying about this now, but am i on the right track?
Hi. I wanted to get a follow up on what route you decided to pursue. I’m an undergraduate working on my prerequisites for Exercise Science which are similar to nursing. I’m undecided about what I want to do. I’ve considered PA and that’s why I am looking at Ex. Science. At the same time, I’m 35 years old and not sure how I feel considering my age about longer term of school for PA. I’m so confused.:-/
I am currently at the end of my sophomore year of Exercise Science and I found this video to be both very accurate and very helpful. I can relate, I also went into the major not really knowing what I wanted to do and I still don’t completely, and I originally thought as a freshman that I would graduate having a plethora of options but the farther I get the more I realize thats not the case. It is very much a stepping stone degree. To anyone considering this major I would say get out and shadow a lot of professionals and careers before pursuing this degree. It is a great major as long as you have a plan. I also appreciated you saying its not easy, there are plenty of challenging courses that require a lot of hard work:) Thanks for sharing you thoughts! Excited for you to see where you end up!
I received my bachelors in kinesiology back in 2012, and I haven’t one anything with it yet. I just don’t know what to do with it really. I chose it not knowing what I wanted to do with my life. Not really sure where to go from here really, but I’ll figure something out eventually.
I am a senior majoring in exercise science. I am really struggling right now:(
Does an exercise science/kinesiology major teach you practical skills that you carry throughout life. you say it’s a stepping stone type of degree that doesn’t directly lead towards a job at face value, but does it hold value in the knowledge itself. I know it’s not the same but for example I don’t NEED a business major to start up my own business but it would be very smart and useful if I got one. Can the same be said about Kinesiology or no, and if so can you explain why? Thank you very much for this resource
You’re dead on! I’m currently a kinesiology major however, I’m not using it to do anything with fitness. It’s a great base for going on to being a physician assistant. But unless you go on to your masters, I don’t see the point in majoring in kinesiology. You’re basically spending an ungodly amount of money to become a personal trainer, most likely working next to someone who has an ACSM certificate making the same amount as you. So why blow all that money and time when you could just get a certificate and be a personal trainer? I love exercise physiology, it’s very interesting and I’m passionate about it so it’s very easy to maintain a 4.0 which will be very appealing to schools that I apply to, and I’ll have a good amount knowledge in the physiology area. But if I just stopped after my bachelors…wtf would I do? Use my entire pay check to pay off my student loans. DO NOT DO KINESIOLOGY UNLESS YOU PLAN ON GETTING YOUR MASTERS.
hi my name is Badr from Morocco and this year im having my baccalaureate and im really into sports and health in general i really could use some advice in what should i do next year and where can i find the best universities for pursuing my dream outside Morocco, really hope you reply and thank you for the video
How do you go about internship for clinical exercise physiologists in hospital?
Hi I’ve done a diploma in exercise and sports science I’m planning to take a bachelor’s in Aus I wanted to know after course can I work in Aus in rehab facilities or in a sports team will this degree help me to get a job
I would also love to hear your opinions on majoring in Nutrition!
What if you do plan on completing a masters/PhD, is this field viable financially?
I’m doing CS in community college it’s my passion and it’s good paying
Okay so I’m about to start my first year and I want to major in exercise science. Ideally I’d like to be a wellness and fitness coordinator. Do you have to get the major in order to do it or is it just one of those jobs that you don’t really need the major?
If I want to become a physical therapist would kinesiology be the right way to go?
Exercise science is often the required degree to put you into physical therapy school…..so in that sense is exercise science is good?
Shout out from San Marcos! I’m currently at TXST, coming up on my last semester. This video was really helpful! Thanks!
what kind of career can one get one into if you love fitness, nutrition, bodybuilding and wanna change people lives?
Litterally going thru the same stuff you were going thru with the Fitness area
Real Estate agent could definitely be in the top 10 list. It might not be the best for everyone because the entry barrier is high, but if you are good t it, it has so much potential.
I have done master degree in sport science, can I build my clinic exercise physiology?
4:55…..this is what people should really know about this degree. Nobody told me either. I graduated in 2014 and life after college would have been streamlined had I known that. Good video Tony!
Marc,
As always great video, helps me as well because I was in between of criminal justice and kinesiology switching my major from Nursing.
