Have you guys seen this happen?
I'm a psychiatrist who was consulted to see a man admitted for chest pain, ST elevations; coronaries were clean, he'd been dx'ed w/ coronary vasospasms. The reason for the consult was anxiety and intense fear of dying. He had a one year history of refractory vomiting as well, but doctors were perplexed because he denied heavy marijuana use, claiming he only did it once in a while. I got him to open up as psychiatrists often do. Turns out he had PTSD, been self medicating his anxiety and insomnia by smoking marijuana daily for the past 50 years. Initially I thought only the vomiting was related to the cannabis use (cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome) but this article now has me wondering if the cardiac symptoms are as well. I prescribed mirtazapine and cessation of marijuana for 3 months… He agreed. Curious to see what comes of it.
