Good video. I have both the Cinnamon Raisin Ezekiel bread and the Costco Oven Naturals Keto bread. I tend to eat the Keto Bread more frequently now because of the low carb, less sugar spike can’t seem to get the scale to move when I eat carbs even good ones.
Too bad there was no consideration of nutritional value. Many of those breads are sweetened toxic waste. There are plenty of great-tasting more-nutritious breads.

My Costco has a Kirkland peanut butter similar to the Nutzo one. I just finished it and threw out the jar. Wish I still had it to double check the ingredients. It was a great price though. Keep an eye out for it

I get the Alvarado Street Flax and Chia seed sprouted wheat bread in California. No Ezekial bread at Costco, tho can get at Safeway in freezer section. Don’t buy Dave’s Bread since they went BIG, cause started to look more like the Orowheat bulk-style stuff. Bread lasts forever in our house. It serves as an open-faced substrate for… whatever much better nutritional value food we put on it.

This is a great loaf. Trying a variation by subbing 15% of the total weight of bread flour with whole wheat (so 66g), adding 30g of buttermilk powder, and 30g of olive oil instead of butter.

I never knew Costco had a frozen bread. I don’t think I’ve ever seen/noticed BUT I will look for it. I checked out the alternative product on Amazon and I might try it but the rating is just over 4 stars…I’ll still check it out but it’s going to be hard to convert my family. I FINALLY converted my husband to organic chicken and beef. When his doctor spoke to him she mentioned the meat that we should get and I just gave my husband the (I told you so) look…I told her I already changed the whole family. Dave’s bread come in multiple varieties there is a thinner slice variety with only 80 cals and very little added sugars. Perhaps red or bluish green color wrapper. Agreed that those with 5 gms sugar and 120cal per slice are bad.

❤ Arnold Sandwich Thins. Esp the honey-wheat option. Game changer in the realm of the wich. We try to search for hidden blessings during this alwful self-quarantine. I was forced to try these little guys because of Covid19. All the normal breads were bought out……the only bread left was these thin, circular cut Arnold’s ST. I used to view sandwich bread as tasteless empty calories, just a means to an end, a way to hold the meats together. I resent bread so if I must use it to create a sandwich it had better be delicious. As of now, I simply cannot make myself desire a sandwich unless I know I have this bread on hand. There is no going back. I enjoy the texture, the little bursts of grains, and the sweetness from the honey. Try karo syrup w crunchy peanut butter. These even make awesome hamburgers.

Where was Aunt Millie’s bread. I like it a lot. It also doesn’t get moldy quick, like the other breads do.
If Aldi is out of bread I found at Wal-Mart a 4 carb a slice bread there. It’s a sugar free bread. It makes great toast. I have 12 loaves of the 0 carb Aldi bread. It’s amazing to have a real grilled cheese sandwich without using all your carbs for the day. I went to 3 Aldi the night I saw that they were on the shelves. They are not on the shelves at the moment because the company making it can’t keep up with the demand.

Hi Joshua! I’m a first time bread maker and your videos have helped me a ton! Just one quick question: which rack do you use in the oven? My bread never browns that nicely. I’ve been using the middle (maybe a little closer to the bottom) and it always comes out just slightly brown.

Commenting 3 months after this was posted, but I’ve made this recipe 4 times now and it’s been perfect every time. My wife is blown away every time I pull the final product out of the oven. 12/10 would bake many times again.

If people are going to be soo picky over bread just buy the normal.89 cents loaf of bread at local store and save up for your own Mixer to make your own fresh bread.
I just want to point out that this is amazing when you later in pepperoni after you roll it out and make a spiral when you bake it
I was teaching my daughters how to make bread and I thought this would be a fun tutorial for them. My oldest did everything except the shaping including watching the rise and baking it. We ordered bread flour and the delivery guy brought us self-rising flour -_so I had to whip up a sub really quick from what we had. I checked the protein content of Gold Medal AP flour and Bob’s Red Mill Stone Ground Wheat and they were both on the higher end which was great so I made a mixture for her of the two (2/3 GM and 1/3 BRM). Otherwise she followed the directions to a T and made what my husband called ‘a cartoonishly perfect loaf of bread’.
We had doubled this so we had one formed loaf and I showed them how to do one free form loaf for dinner that night. We tight rolled the second and tucked/pinched the seams in place, sprinkled some cornmeal down on the baking sheet, snipped the top with scissors and we thought about what to put on top. I had some leftover cream from glazing pies we were baking so I brushed some on top and she sprinkled poppy seeds and salt over it. She proofed it along with the other and baked them both.
Just to let folks who might not have professional training know, this is enriched dough so while it might feel hard just out of the oven it WILL soften after a few minutes as it cools so don’t panic like my daughter did. If you have to sub AP flour for some reason you can add some whole wheat as well or some vital wheat gluten to raise the protein content to between 11-13% but make sure to check online what the exact protein content is first. GM brand is one of the few that is consistent so I recommend that one if you have to sub it. A pinch of xanthan gum might also work but it may affect the mouth feel.
Also, I think that this exact dough would make FABULOUS cinnamon bread and we’re going to make one of those and one poppy seed almond paste loaf with this. It was so much better and so much more fun than the breads I learned to make in school, which was almost entirely french baguettes and terrible rolls. Thanks for making a fun tutorial that has helped me teach my daughters this important skill!

Top picks are more than twice as heavy in calories too. Many of us eat 100% whole wheat when watching our macro intake. Look at the calories and the dense breads are typically twice the calories and carbs than less dense Nature’s Own and the Sara Lee. Putting the less dense breads in the fridge will make the bread more stable, feel dense (toasting also works). Two slices of bread versus one, I would rather have two for half the calories and carbs.
I’m surprised they didn’t talk about preservatives and fillers. Particularly, so many American breads contain mono and diglycerides. These chemicals absorb water, extending shelf life and essentially using water as a filler. Water is heavy. This means they are selling water as bread. Granted, whole wheat loaves are a little less likely to have this particular preservative/filler in them, but they often do.
The Test Kitchen shouldn’t have ignored the additive question.

When the number one ingredient is modified wheat starch, and it claims zero carb you are likely dealing with a regulatory/labeling loophole. Color me skeptical.
I made this today and it’s really good. Changed directions a bit. I put in the refrigerator overnight to rise vs. baking the same day. I also used buttermilk and cultured butter, even though I figured the butter would not make much of a difference. I really like the taste and texture plus it’s a very easy bread to make. I forgot to bloom the yeast, but it still rose over the lip of the loaf pan I used. I also used a light colored loaf pan and I think that makes a positive difference as well. I have made bread in a darker loaf pan and this one came out better. Will definitely make again.

I’ve been on keto for nearly a year. I’ve lost 45 to 50 pounds mostly in the first 6 months. Now I just maintain. I can’t describe properly how my life has changed. I’m happy. Ok enough of the gushy stuff. Today I bought the wheat no net carb bread at Aldi. Took a bite straight out of the bag and nearly gagged. Super dry, didn’t want to swallow it. Then I made a fried bolongy and grilled cheese sandwich. Don’t judge me I’m from Kentucky. Omg! Game changer!! I’m already thinking about making chicken and dressing. Maybe a bread pudding I checked my blood sugar and I was still in the normal range. If this is dirty Keto then so be it!

I have been making something similar for a while. The same basic ingredients shown here, minus all the acid stuff. It does get expensive to make but I love it, make buns and freeze it.I use vital wheat glute, oat fiber, flax seed and yeast. I don’t have an Aldi near me but I was thinking sooner or later someone would sell a bread like this. It has gluten but screw it, this tastes like real bread. Not this 12 egg shit I see on recipes.

If you have a whest sensitivity Im 200% sure you need to be taking Acidophilus the refridgerated kind at a health food store or whole foods. Pick one w the most diff strains on the back.It can only help.
My Aldi finally got this bread in I bought both kinds have only tried the multi seed so far but I like it and it does not spike my blood sugar at all! It is a tad bland but with butter for toast or mustard/mayo on a sandwich I have bread again hurray:-)

Have always loved Arnold’s. Try Dave’s Killer Bread, don’t know if they make 100% whole wheat but they make many whole multigrain breads, all yummy.
Whole Foods’ whole wheat bread is better than any of the ones they tested. Not sweet, not soft, just whole wheaty. Great for toast!

I appreciate your videos but I have a lot of difficulty watching someone tell me I should not eat Soybean Oil when during the biggest pandemic of the last 100 years, you are not wearing an N-95 mask. Half the time your mask exposes your nose will in a public space with strangers walking past you every 15 seconds. Your nose is far more important to cover than your mouth.
So it seems penny wise & pound foolish. How can anyone wear one of those homemade (not that you personally made it) masks that have been proven to have less than a 50% effective rate against the spread of Covid 19 before you account for the misuses and reuses of them speak about health topics?
Look C19 will kill you or someone you love long before Sunflower Oil will. So if you care about health, maybe best to buy medical grade N95 masks and not reuse the same homemade disaster of a mask over and over. That protects no one. Not you. Not those you walk past. And not your family and people you care about.
One thing that will kill you or someone you care about far faster than Soybean Oil or Sunflower Oil…is C19. Especially when you are walking past strangers on the street and spending excessive amount of time in grocery stores.
Do most people by Whole Wheat bread because of they want a “nice hearty slice of bread” or because they want a bread that is nutritious. I’m looking for nutrition in my food. This isn’t the first video from America’s Test Kitchen I found disappointing because there seems to be little awareness or commentary on nutrition. My grocery store carries Dave’s Killer Bread. It is an organic flour and often touted as one of the best breads but I don’t see it in their test.
This makes me furious as in the UK,our Aldis,sell nothing like this at all,what the hell,all their stores should be the same,all over the dam world,stupid stores!!! I love Aldis,but cannot believe,ours are nothing like yours at all with the products,!!!!

I like the Arnold also, but there’s a variety of the Pepperidge Farm that you didn’t show that has become my favorite, the Very Thin 100% Whole Wheat bread. I like it precisely because it’s so thin and tasty. I put about four or six slices on a cookie sheet, top half the slices with a little bit of deli ham and the others with ultra-thin sliced sharp cheddar cheese with nothing else added at all and bake open-faced at 350 degrees for about seven or eight minutes. That is just long enough for the cheese to melt into the bread. Take them out the oven, slap the sides together, and these tiny little sandwiches are delicious! A side salad, small serving of potato chips and a smoothie makes it a simple, quick, filling meal.

Jack said if you’re buying whole wheat bread it’s because you want a hearty bread, but I disagree. I want the better nutrition of whole wheat without it tasting like a punishment. I just discovered Trader Joe’s white whole wheat bread and it’s the best tasting one I’ve ever found. (It’s 100% whole wheat but made with the softer white wheat rather than hard red wheat as others are.) The only downside is it’s got a little too much dough conditioner imo. But it’s darn good, and I recommend it for anyone who doesn’t like the overly healthy taste of ww.
Sorry you FORGOT about the multigrain Costco made bread in the baking area where cakes and pies are, it very hearty in grain, just not very helpful in contents info, carbs and such! I have been told that you can call Costco and they will tell you BUT then just have it available there then! NOT SMART COSTCO!!!!!

I have read a company’s nutrition labels for it’s white bread and 100% whole wheat bread. They were exactly the same!!! So I guess whole wheat is just for a different taste than white bread?
When one of your parents is practically the family dietician and nutritionist, you tend to eat a lot of 100% whole wheat bread. Only been eating Orowheat bread varietals because of the flavors. Even the double fiber variety is hearty.

I actually made this recipe. This bread is easy and dangerously delicious. 3 “cups” of bread flour is supposedly 381 grams (according to the USDA but not everyone) though, and Josh says 440 grams, which is closer to 3 1/2 cups and makes a difference. So just shut your ears off to all recipes mentioning “cups,” people, and go with the grams.

My exciting Friday night has been watching many, many of his videos while crunching on dry Cocoa Puffs. My coworker says “cwinge” for cringe, so I didn’t even notice “cwispy” for a while.
I am very picky about bread, and am more than willing to pay more for the good stuff. Arnold (Orowheat on the West Coast) is my go-to supermarket brand. I like most of their flavors and they generally have at least one variety on sale every week.
Now that I have started Keto, I have learned about this bread. The biggest problem I see concerning this bread is it doesn’t exist. Every time we go to Aldi’s, the space on the shelf is empty. I think it’s Aldi’s way of just getting me in the store more often.

So, I called the number you shared here…and got a recording telling me that in order for THEM to save money, which then they can pass on to us, they do NOT have a “staff” that mans the phones….so there was NO ONE there to help…not sure WHO YOU spoke to…but I apparently didn’t get the same results…it did, however, direct us to a website…and I went there, however, they is no “search option” on their site…and I didn’t see anywhere where L’oven Fresh Zero Carb Bread would be. This was really disappointing. (Actually it’s OK, but cause the ingredients are NOT “really” Keto healthy. I think I’d rather make my own and KNOW what’s in the ingredients.
Keep us INFORMED as to whether it raises your blood sugar; but then again, it takes FASTING to REVERSE DIABETES even if the Keto bread DOESN’T raise the blood sugar…it’s what Dr. SEBI told us.
It’s not difficult to make your own keto bread at home, though. I make it and can always add other things to it to enhance flavor depending on what I’m going to eat it with. Honestly I don’t trust things keto that they sell out there. There’s tons of great recipes here on how to make bread, cakes, etc.

It seems like its not the healthiest long term but its dirty Keto.
The bread in that Arnold bag, and the artwork on the bag itself was looking very similar to the loaf of bread that is currently in my kitchen. But the name, not so much. Turns out, Arnold, Brownberry, and Oroweat (mine) are the same thing. Sort of a Hardees-Carls-Jr. or Hellman’s-Best-Foods thing.
