Does it matter if my trucks are a bit to small for a 8 board
I need help I wanna start skating I have a 8.0 board but idk what trucks and wheels to get lol if anybody can help a brother out
You buy the lightest truck, but you keep gaining a pound a day! what’s the point?
you should weigh the lightest pig old school shape and compare skull skates die hard shape to all the other heavy 80s wood boards… what is lightest 10 x 30 inch board?
No one get thunder hollow, the hollow adds risk of your kingpin snapping it happens if you do stairs or drops
Are they as butter as thunder trucks cause I’m skateing silvers rn and their so sticky so I want a butter truck like thunder but a lower price
People, if you haven’t tried the new geometry tensor mag lights, or even the aluminum ones…you need to, they are litterally the best trucks on the market…I’ve tried every truck and tensor is doing it right for real. People can no longer talk shit on these trucks, I used to…the last gen geometry were pretty bad for the money especially if you got mags…they were horrible, these new ones are so damn good its unreal plus much stronger. Try them if you get a chance.
On the last life of my Primitive 8.38 on Thunders 149. By far my favorite set up
I got the standard indy and venture v-hollow (high not the low, i hate the low) and really like both, i try the 2 trucks on every board i got to see the difference. Some board i prefer the venture and some the indy and for the weight, i think a heavier board feel just give more pop like some people said! Maybe the shape of the board will help more to have a easier flick?than the weight of the trucks.
Tensor mag light best truck for speed flips and trick if you dont ride tensor you sad indy or whatever
I skate an 8.5 and wear a size 9 shoe…. and can do a good 360 flip
Tensor Alloys weigh 11.9 oz and yes they are the same size as the other trucks in the video.
im trying to build a complete with an 8 in deck what truck size would i need? what wheels? primarily street skating….
holy shit, the only two pairs of trucks i have are the indy 13 ounce and mag lights at 9 ounce, and yes i notice the difference big time
i have tensor magnesiums, not the tensor magnesium lights. mine aren’t hollow axle or kingpin and the lights are both. not sure the weight difference that makes or even if its that noticable
i miss thunder low but back then i wasnt 6 feet tall i was like 5 foot 5 lol
I love how informative and quick to the point this video was.
not gonna lie you have a really calming voice, dig the vid dude
Outstanding video! You’re the only skate store I know of that’s done this kind of video.
when they bring out titanium trucks you will have to do scientific evaluation again… and might need an assistant (big or small tiddybitshesz)
Anyone got a link to Snake Farm Grip Tape? I searched google but doesn’t come up
I know they may not be on the market anymore, but what about grindking trucks?
Good shit, not even half way thru. Coming from indie hollows and going to try the new mag lights. I’m heavier -185ish. Usually just skate flat, ledges and flatbars. Hope they last.
Great video guys, very informative and good production. Only problem i have is you should have given us the weights in grams too.
I switched from some heavy ass Thrasher trucks, which which were not bad, but once I felt the lightness of my current Thunders, they feel so much nicer.
Had the same process mostly. Took about 3 weeks to break em in properly. I did change out the bushings but I love the way these feel. Good review.
I don’t like hollow axles. They’re not durable and bend. I do like forged base and hollow kingpins though. It’s the middle ground imo for weight saving and durability. Got a pair of V lights and Thunder lights.
Good thing he wears safety goggles and gloves while weighing these trucks
I skated tensor back in the day. Back when they had the detachable self lubricating slider. The hanger had cracked and was some off the wall hanger. But they did feel light.
And since i was 15 I’ve only skated dwindle. I had an enjoi, after that i moved to a darkstar I picked up from walmart. Threw my ventures on it. After that it’s always been blinds. I’d like to try tensor out again. But ventures last for freaking ever
You can’t beat thunder. Their trucks aren’t too light, you need some heaviness in your setup to get the most pop possible surprisingly
Growin up we all knew Indys were heavy. I skate Ventures. Gonna have to get some Tensors now
How come sometimes you skate like mental patients and this time you’re like straight out of tony hawk game Pros? Is it the editing? Are there thousand fuck ups in unedited?
No, where I live we have the most sunny days in Australia, when the rain comes its such a relief!
Super clear thorough and slow/deliberate delivery. Idc if he was high or whatever. This is a great vid!
I think your scale is off, you shouldve weighed it by the gram
I put a set of magnesium base plates on my ace low 03’s and they weigh less than mag lights FYI. And I get to turn Used a scale cause it was close but forget the actual numbers
Here’s 28 years of skating telling you that Ace’s are better than all Indy’s.
I rode nothing but Indy’s for almost a decade straight (only one I haven’t skated is the newer 144) skated thunders for 4 years straight, skated a few sets of Ventures, Tensors(old ones) Silver’s, royals, tracker, Gullwing, Orion’s, World industries(worst ever).
3 years ago I was picking up a new set and they didn’t have any Indy’s in my size so I said,
“I guess I’ll wait”,but the owner of the shop said,
“you might want to try Ace’s”
I said, ” Indy’s only, you know that better than anyone”
He held up his set up(with Ace’s) from behind the counter and said, “Indy’s never again. I absolutely LOVE these fuckin’ things”
He was the guy who stopped me from buying another set of Thunders and suggested Indy’s by saying “Here’s 36 years of skating experience telling you you’ll like Indy”s more”
I thought “he was right then about the Indy’s, so why wouldn’t he be right now about the Ace’s?”
I asked, “what if I hate’em?” he said, ” bring’em back and I’ll swap’em out for some Indy’s when they get here a day and a 1/2 from now”
I put them on and within 10 feet of rolling, I had and orgasm.
Not really of coarse, but my point is that 99.99% of everyone that says “Independent for life” are only confident in saying that because they haven’t tried Ace’s yet.
I’m sure there at least a few skaters out there that won’t like Ace’s more(probably because of the way they look) but time and time again I see this EXACT sentiment play out with ppl who’ve been skating for over 20 years.
FYI: Ace is basically an Indy stage 3 with wider hangers.
…which is why most every Indy lover will love Ace’s more.
Everything that makes an Independent truck awesome is approved upon in the Ace’s.
Try’em, I dare you.
Is this guy baked or something? Independence are the shittiest trucks on the market, I literally can’t skate a set for more than a month without them being broken. Also there a short wheelbase truck and they turn rapidly why the hell would you ever want to skate stairs with a short wheelbase truck that turns rapidly. And when did you break a set of Thunders? I’ve skated thunders in 0 degree weather and I’ve shot the hangar with a 40 Smith & Wesson. Thunders do not break and they are a wide wheel base truck. Thunders are designed for stairs. And before anyone makes a stupid comment I skate Grind Kings and I’ve been skating for 20 years. I skate everything from staircases and handrails to bowls. Point of the comment don’t talk s*** about companies when you don’t even know what they’re used for Independents are built to grind that’s why they’re made out of soft metal. They’re absolutely useless as far as stairs go unless you really like slams and surgery.
I remember having Indy trucks years ago back in like 2000 and I swear they were heavier than anchors! I bought a pair of the stage 11’s this year after I felt that old passion for skating! (Thanks Aaron!) and put together a new complete. I can say that the stage 11’s felt nice and a lot lighter!
You should build a set up from best reviewed parts on amazon
I actually just bought an enjoi panda with tensor trucks and 52mm wheels. Best setup I’ve had
is it just me or does every trick have a unique sound among skaters
yea i ride tensors. they bent though. i like them though. well i realised i had 8″ trucks on a 7.75″. not sure if that will do it, i think it will though. who knows
Finally a decent truck review on Tensor thank you so much!! Everyone else is an obvious indy or thunder bandwagon peeps. This has helped my choices better on your input!! I dont plan on hitting anything bigger then a 3 stair at 30 years of age and frankly manual and flat land stuff is my thing. Looking forward to giving these a win dingo!!
Got sent the wrong size trucks yesterday. Now I have to wait a week to return them
I love your videos! I want to learn to skate but it’s hard for me to afford a new complete.
Very true, it is based on preference and looks like they work really well for you. Rog from the NineClub rocks Tensor!! You got a savage trick list bro!! Was wondering if anyone had some input on the bearing “spacer” that sits on axle between bearings. Rat Vision did a vid years ago about them but kinda focused on putting the spacers in weird longboard wheels. Some are too big for the wheel? Needs to sit perfectly between bearings without popping them a bit outta the pocket?
nice review! Idk how you can say manuals suck when I’ve never seen a more steady manual and nose manual in my life lol. anyway you should lend these to Ben Degros I’ve been dying to see his impression on some Tensors.
So the best reviews I can find on YouTube comes from dudes who skate the same park, you and Ben Degros, that’s it
You should try to convince Ben Degros to review some Tensors but probably a fruitless endeavor since all he skates are Indy, Thunders, and Ventures. Several peeps been asking him in comments for a long time. I am curious about how the Tensors All Terrain Geometry are so if you get to trying some in the future would be interested to know how you like them compared to the normal ones.
He seems unconfident but confident, straight forward but not straight forward at the same time. Vibe is all over the place
I love finding channels like this. Great personalities that in all honesty deserve far more subs than they have. Great vid and subbed mate
Hi Ben, I’ve been watching a lot of your videos. Thanks! I’m curious if the Thunder and Venture trucks were the same price. The Venture Titanium (axle) is around 15% lighter but not so expensive. I wonder what you would think of them. On the subject of weight. It seems the lighter the board the easier the tricks, once you get used to a board. Why not go for the extreme and create a super light weight board?? 7″ board, small trucks and wheels. To remove weight drill extra holes in the trucks, deck and maybe even the wheels. I just wonder if the holes will create extra wind resistance or not. The unbreakable new decks might be fun the drill holes in!
Andreas, do you know Ben Degros by any chance? I see him upload at this park, a lot.
Are these trucks still turning nice? I may be wrong, but I believe you may have yourself the ‘tensor all terrains’ which are made for better turning.
I’ve never had tensors…i saw a pair of black geo mags for 38 bucks….i had to order them
when lance asked what trucks come with hardware and aaron just stares at him hahaha people need to learn that trucks do not come with hardware. its like getting trucks and saying wheres the wheels and bearings omg i thought i was gonna get the whole shabang! skateboard set up for 42 dollars. what an idiot. i have just bought thunder lights couple days ago and i havent skated my new set up yet. i was thinking of getting indys but the weight put me off. and also a lot of my fav skaters skate thunders. i just hope they grind smooth like butter compared to my raw 7.6 ventures lows.
Yo bro. Just subbed. I believe your YouTube is gonna skyrocket if you keep at it. Reminds me of John Hill in a way
great review and sesh, i may just get these now, your an excellent skater btw
I just got a new baker deck with indys with the red Baseplate
I was curious to his setup, so what I did…was got this EXACT board…(go to element website they have this shape it’s a special limited edition for his till death part, in fact it’s this exact graphic too I think) I already had those ricta wheels, and I got some what I think he’s riding are thunder lights, not hollow lights, 147. So pretty much over the last month what I gather is…the shit works extremly well for him, but it’s a very particular shape and I’m not sure I dig it that much but it’s been fun. The shape he gets made for him is super mellow, damn near like a girl or chocolate. The trucks and wheels are fine though I like ricta…the shape he rides is so weird it may not look strange from videos but it is when you get it, short shallow tail, wide nose but also shallow. Also, the wheelbase is like shifted foward from the tail to the nose…its also a smaller wheelbase than the stock size 8 boards element puts put. if you get a normal element board in around 8-8.1 unless it’s a labelled as “Nyjah concave” it won’t be the shape he rides, it’ll be much more steep as all elements are through bbs, the board he gets made for him, it’s pretty similar to girl and chocalote shapes.
Great video and great tricks! I just ordered some tensors before watching this video lol
this really helped picking out my first skateboard. thank you
I’ve only skated element carbon deck, really liked it, looking at the Folklore brand made here in OZ
Great video!, I’m trying to resume skating after 15 years and I was wondering if my trucks vs deck widths were really compatible. Several videos just focused on “if your board width is X and you are buying independents buy WW, if thunders buy YY,”, etc. They were not elaborating in the variables that drive the decision. I liked your analysis.
Grind Kings were the only truck I would skate as a kid. Loved them, and honestly I never did any real research into their weight, I just felt like they were light. Orion’s and Tensors were also thought to be light.
Tensors I wouldn’t skate because I never had good luck with the kingpins and the kingpins stuck out and hit whatever you were grinding.
just curious what size wheel cause they look like fifties or smaller
Indys or Ace trucks. Nothing beats them. Lights, hollows, titaniums, aluminums. Whatever the case may be. Nothing cant stand up to a pair or indys or ace.
Will you ever a budget truck review video? Mini logo, bullet, tensor, ext…
I rode indys and Gullwings 159mm for more than 3 decades on bowls and street. 3 months ago I bought a set of tensor mag lights 149mm all terrain geometry expecting the worst of them but amazingly these trucks have a better performance, they grind like if every coping were waxed, it took me about a month to brake in the bushings and find out the perfect torque for a bowl setup but now I’m not going back to heavy Indys until
these tensors fail me! I will let you know wen that happens!
Thank you Rodney for taking a weight
out of my board and my back ha ha ha
“Let me know if some of you guys tried tensor or an enjoi board.”
dude that’s litterally my favorite setup for my 8″ flip board.
Thanks for help but why are u talking like ur audience are a buncha tards
you shouldn’t change up your board setup if you’re learning, if you start out with a truck that weighs 13 oz you might think “I need a lighter truck” so you get those tensors and find out that you gotta change the way you do everything to manipulate the weight of your new setup, just stick to what’s been true to you.
Dude so true I’m 46 and skating again after 20 years…I skated from 85-95 and for a short time in 2000.
I should of never stopped that is there biggest regret BUT me and my 18 year old son have been skating now for two months.
I am doing my 360 nocomplys again and got my ollies back but my leg strength is bad. Ya don’t realize how much lag strength simple Ollie’s take I can actually nollie better and almost landed a 360 nollie today. My issue right now with the 360 nollie other than fitness is fear, I’m afraid of shooting out so I land them with one foot on…perfect pop and spin yet TOTAL commitment problem such a wuss….
Anyways you are so right its great for many things physically & mentally…. I have PTSD and extreme social anxiety so its really screwed up my everyday life BUT skateboarding is the one thing that makes me leave the house and have fun. I can go with my son find a quite spot and just skate, we both have something him and I can share together and its been huge.
Great vid bro and thanks for sharing.
Dude. Indy’s crack and break quicker than all. That’s exactly why they offer a lifetime warranty, against normal use. You don’t know shit about geometry, mag is just a softer metal, it’s a pureer pour and mix. Then you go onto saying you are going to review an old soggy board. Please look up some shit before you flap those uneducated gums. Feww
i say dont go more than half an inch too small or too big. if you’re going that small, get some conical/wider wheels (but you might need riser pads) and if you’re going bigger with the trucks, get smaller/skinny wheels. also, if you dont like the way they turn, you can always swap out the bushings. trust me, i’ve tested every combo you can think of
i’m buying a skateboard and the width is 7.75 and in the description it says the tensor trucks are 5.5 is that good or bad
does it make the board feel lighter or get your tricks higher
So I restarted skating after idk, since 2009ish.
I have a board a homie gave to me and now I’m going to replace it out. Just got some spitfires 52mm, I’ll keep the trucks a little longer, I have thunders idk what size or anything, but could you recommend a good setup? I was hoping to get a baker board, I’m thinking 8.0 or a little bigger, and I have spitfire 52mm, if I replace the trucks what should I get that would go with a baker with that size and the size of my wheels?
I know skating is all preference but I just want to know what you would ride if I wanted a low truck or not too high or too heavy.
8:58 the bike behind: ops . By the way thanks for the review
I skate 8.5 and I’m literally known as the tech truck guy. Board width doesn’t affect anything
Good review ngl! I just got a new board with Indies and I used to skate tensors. Definitely not used to how much the indies turn.
Just bought tensors and i think thier 10 times hevier than my thunders that i had for a year
Would those magnesium ones last long if all I skate is flatground?
Great review, but it’s a bit too long for just a truck review bruh. The video really drags on when you could have concluded it in like 10 mins
Hello i have a Independent Truck(129mm) and a Deck(7,75) and the Trucks are bigger than the Deck why ist ist?
you live in canada, vancouver i think. i recognize that park lmao.
for anyone wondering how they turn if you swap the bushings its really good. better than thunders imo. its probably because thunders are lower and the tensors i did that with were the highs
what your favourite shoe? can you please make a vid on skate shoes
Man I love tensor trucks. Been skating them for a few years now. I found the new geometry ones turn nicely.
the guy that went to a skate shop and asked “do you guys sell grip tape?” LMAO
Do y’all know the size chart for industrial trucks? Or are they the same size like ventures?
I ride thunders hollows and therefore I like to put some big 56 mm OJ wheels on them, which eliminates the light feeling to them
lightest truck for 8.5 decks please? does the order stay the same?
so i’m new to skateboarding and i was wondering what size trucks should i buy for an 8.0 board
Thunders dont turn in cold at all. Their bushings become rock solid around 0C. In the opposite Indys stock bushings are ok with the cold, and for some reason Indy spare are not ok. For Thunder trucks you could use Venom bushes they dont freeze.
I skate an 8 & just ordered a new 7.75. Will my 144 independent trucks work on my 7.75 or will they be too big?
Hey, you can make videos about new tricks you trying to land, about your routine, about your favourite tricks. Maybe try to land a hard/cool trick on that very spacious ledge, with the sun and a good angle, it looks good. Or anything you’d like to share. Have a good day!
Hi i am beginner skater, i have 8. Skateboard, my desk is broked, should I change desk 7.5 along with 8. Truck (old truck). Thank you
Bro you’re REALLY good! Damn near better than some pros. Excellent video!
Truck height along with wheelbase, tail length, and tail steepness define how the pop of a board feels. That’s what he felt when riding high trucks. You can counter that by going for a smaller wheelbase board or maybe a longer / less steep tail. Given that you have enough force in your pop, a higher truck results in much higher popped tricks. That’s why I prefer a slightly larger wheelbase with Thunder Highs.
For a 7.75 element skateboard, what size trucks should I buy off of ccs?
I can’t find that deck can somebody tell me where to find it
I like your show, alot, yes trucks in very few cases they come with mounting hardware, was a strange thing, it was not packaged by the store but by the distributor, very funny things at some website, went into and out of 300 sites globally
I have like 9 inch feet and im going to go from a 7something to an 8
Tensors were my first ever trucks back when they had the plastic shit on them for slides. This was back in like 99 or 2000 I never had a pair since lol but I remember them being good but mostly stick with thunders
What axle length are best for a deck 8 inches wide and 32 inches long
Most people don’t know this but you can smoke your weed out of this hits trucks
venture 5.2 low v hollow lights or v lights all day everyday
Yeah your skate shop will help you IF they have the size you’re looking for.
I’ve been waiting for a video exactly like this for over a decade.
This video was more about fitment and recognizing that many choices are personal preference. I would have liked to hear something about choosing between brands.
So I have cruiser wheels on my board because my streets are bad but it’s a pretty heavy board any tips to help doing tricks?
Thanks for another great truck review. Only problem with your truck reviews is that they keep making me get more trucks…and wishing I skated a tenth as good as you. Yeah, a tenth as good would be nice. Any chance Mini Logos next?
I know lance learned to skateboard. And that he left braille. But you guys should def teach lance to skateboard.
Ever since thunder stopped making their high trucks I’ve been bummed . I feel like there is no reason to stop producing an actual high truck and just introduce a mid, what a shame
At 33. Thinking of getting back on a board for health/exercise reasons. Was never gr8. Quit when I broke my ankle.. but watching the vids I feel like maybe older me would have something to add….? If anyone’s in a similar situation lmk
I’m 13 and my shoe size is 10/5 so idk maybe I guess my build will be for my first board a 8deck
Does anyone know if you can ride 140 trucks on a 8.0 skateboard?????
I’m new to skateboarding and i want to get a board soon. I’m a shoe size 11US, what size board should I get?
so if i get a 7.75 board with soft 53mm wheels what size trucks should i need? no parks just gritty streets
you act like independents are one of the smaller companies for trucks… wtf?
My fav truck brand is Indy 100%. I had just got a 8.125 x 31.5 Deathwish deck and sadly I haven’t been able to really really skate it because you it’s winter time and all, but I on the deck I was riding Indy Hollow 139’s and I mean they’re cool and all, but today I decided to switch back to my Indy standards and one of first things I noticed when picking the board up is that it has some weight to it of course so now I’m quite siked to see how I skate this heavier deck.
Thank you I didn’t know what size truck I needed but now I do
Wax the bushings on thunders they will become waaaaay looser. I believe it’s because the axle turns way more than it dips do it grabs on the bushing making them feel way tighter. Little secret I save skaters I meet at parks with.
So I’m moving my board up from an 8.0 deck to an 8.37″x 32″ and I dont know what trucks to buy can someone please help me.
i bought 139mm for 7.75 and they seem to big i think im going to get 129mm
I just bought a pair ofThunder trucks 148 what size of board shall I get to mach…?
I want to just go to Amazon and leave wierd reviews just so they will be read in the videos
Thunders are my favorite but honestly all trucks are good its just preference everyone skates differently
What does “pinch” mean? Is ollie pop? Or, locking in on grinds?
you would think the dude would be bad at making these informative videos, but this was one of the most pleasant videos ive watched in a long time. actually learned something too. good job dude.
I love thunders skated them for about 10 years can’t see myself changing, maybe some royals for shits n gigs, Love light trucks feels like I can get my board too do what I want when I want it.
Or like venture vs indie lol. Thunder is the dodge of the main 3…
Y’all are acting like it’s your first pair of indes #indelife
Great video, can you do more videos on how the wheel base an measurements are different between indys an thunders?
I have an 8.5 and am trying to go down to a 8.0 but my 8.5 trucks are brand new??????
I bought the newer “all terrain geometry” Mag Lights and yea they were literally too light. I fell for the idea that having a truck over 100g lighter than indys would be a next level ride. Turns out you really dont want a truck any lighter than about 300g. The hollow axles added to the flimsyness.
The turn and geometry was good on em though so i would recommend the aluminum solid axle ones.
Thunders by design will always sit lower, Ventures stretch your wheelbase. Either way it’s a win/win by supporting deluxe you’re paying into skateboarding.
I had a pair of tensor mags back when I was just a little shrimp and I snapped them. I was only like 90 pounds at the time and didn’t even skate big shit
My favorite deck for years where the enjoy bamboo decks. They had great almost lib tech pop and they lasted foorreevvver. It seemed as they phased out I would find the last one in a sk8 shop years later. One set up I had had tensors. I loved them even loose. It wasnt until about 2 years ago when I found out it was my hero rodney’s company. Thanks for the review.
inspired me to start back up again, little short but next month ill def get myself a new setup, cool stuff keep it up!
Indy for all around performance and durability; ace for sick carves. Just wish the pivot cups would hold up a bit longer on the aces
I think the CyberTruck would be best. It only comes in one size.
You guys should do one with decks of same with (say 8”) but different contractions like R7, impact light, lowpro, etc
5:12
haha I’ve ridden ventures forever
…I don’t think I ever turned in my life HAHA
YOU CAN TURN?!
What do you think Thunder Truck 147 high with 52 mm wheels for street skateboard?? Good or bad?
this guys voice is like that stereo typical college professor with the super monotone voice that makes you fall asleep in class
The minute I saw that was knee-high I was like what the fuck? that’s the crazy ledge yeah definitely knee high! The minute that I I knew I couldn’t do it props to you Ben
Lol I’ve never bought trucks singly before.. they’ve always come in pairs lol
Aren’t those Thunders with team baseplate? Which is slightly taller than forged.
would you recommend venture v-hollows or thunder standards? also thank you for shipping my new deck very quickly, my old deck was getting delaminated so my new one came just in time thanks to skate warehouse
It’s the LA court house ledge.. nd I think it almost 2.5 feet.. dnt quote me but it’s 2 ft for sure.. but a bit over.. not sure exactly how much.. between 2-2.5 ft..
Yo I’m confused because I was going to buy a complete board from zumiez, and it said the truck size is 5.25″ so like?
super video for the novice…really helps you get to that next step. I’m pretty sure you forgot one of your charts though, never showed up.
Now a new video for the weight range of Reverse King Pin Trucks Please!!!
Teach Lance!! He does this with you guys for Years now
He should be able to skate at least
How do you have time to film both the Vancouver carpenter and skate videos? Lol
It’s maybe worth mentioning that Venture Lows and Highs should be considered almost totally different trucks. The turning is completely different and the height difference completely changes the pop.
way to go Ben. Ive followed your channel for a while now and its awesome to see how you are grabbing life by the horns and making it work.
think you could review some Silvers trucks in the future? Or a 5boro Deck?
Favorite trucks ever was indy hollow 139’s with thunder bushing no washers. I can’t skate trucks with washers. They feel to tight
Recently got my first set of Ventures since the 90s because they started making bigger trucks. Owned a pIr of Thunders around 2003-2004. Rode them for a month and gave them away to ride my Indys again. I actually feel like I can totally live with these 6.1 Ventures. The grind is actually the only part about Ventures that’s not that good. The turn is adequate enough to be ok with even though not as good as Indy, totally doable. Kingpin clearance on the the highs with stock kingpins is better than my Indys with Grindking kingpins on them. The weight is lighter than Indy but heavy enough to not make the board feel like a toy. One 1/8 riser and they feel the same height as an Indy to me. So long story short Venture is winning me over pretty hard right now.
I don’t like the quality from the Thunder’s. I buy new Thunder Hollow’s and materials from the Hanger was on the Axel. I can’t get the wheels on the Axel. Sucks!!! And the pivot on one truck was malfunction. Wtf!! Fucking Thunder trucks!!! I skate my Independent hollow’s and Tensor Mag lights. I can’t understand why so many people likes Thunder trucks. I hate Thunder lousy quality
I wish the thunders had the same baseplate as ventures or krux. They just slide so much better
Is it just me or does thunder kingpins break easily. I had the trucks for probably 2 years but i mean i way about 60 kilo so idk. I broke both my from landing halfsideways on flatground kickflips in my basement around the same time, iswitched them to some old ones laying around and recently noticed that to kingpins are higher up than the axle lmao. Doesn’t matter right now though since it’s wet and snowy outside and all i can do is flatground tricks in my basement.
I’ve Been skating the independent Hollows 139s but I’m thinking of going back to Thunders for some reason I’m going to try the 148s thanks Great video
a review of the new tensor all terrain maglights would be nice, it is supposed to be the lightest truck on the market and made of magnesium.. also, there’s different versions, but, the one i’m talking about are the high’s called the all terrain’s there’s no good reviews on these trucks, thanks ✌️
Y’all should take all of y’alls best reviewed and worst reviewed on amazon boards and make a complete of the worst and best then combine them
Ben, i am from Russia and I am watching you, keeping filming, you are the best
Who is thumbing these down?! Gotta be a mistake. Only way I can reason with it.
Thunder all day. To be fair I haven’t rode Indy’s in years and never tried Venture, but Thunder’s always felt the most well rounded of any truck I’ve ridden. I loved Indy grinds but they were a little heavy and the hangers always slid.
I rode thunders exclusively when I was in my second “phase” of skating, around 2007-2009 and that was when I was at my best. So when I started skating again in 2014, I bought some thunders and I never really questioned it, I knew that getting my tricks back would be a challenge, as I had put on the pounds and got a job that wrecked my body enough. It wasn’t until I was getting comfortable on a board again that I started feeling like Thunders were not responding the way I wanted, so I switched to Indys, and basically never looked back. Kind of been on the outs with skateboarding over the past year, have skated maybe 5 times since last March. Trying to motivate myself to keep at it, to keep from going overboard I’m weight again, and I’m doing a lot more flat ground and ledge stuff than anything else these days. I might have to at least try some ventures to see if I like them.
Are the tensor 5.25 trucks considered ‘short’ or ‘small’? Like in width.
Ben I have a next shoe proposition for you. You have already skated in supras but why not again?
This time with a little twist because these are vintige dress shoes inspired.
I’m talking about the Greco’s 7th pro model from supra.
I don’t think you will be able to pull these off with sweatpants wich is a bummer but regardless I really hope you consider this even an option.
Thanks, fellow subscriber.
I always run bones medium bushings no matter what trucks I have
If I got my hands on that board, it would go into a glass case
use all the best reviewed skate parts and then make the best reviewed skate borde on amazon
i havnt skated for like 20 years and still watch this channel daily. seem like a great bunch of blokes
QUESTION, all long and skateboards trucks review, all trucks over 75 dollars to $750 yes all the way to 1200 dollars for a pair,
next, the most expensive wheels over $100 for 4 and most expensive long and skateboards decks over $200
as many manufacturers willing supplying them, with the world championships and best riders in the world
I found skating trucks made for a 7.5 on a 8 deck helps with 360 flips haha…
How is Aaron shocked and surprised that Indies are good trucks???
Hey Ben, FYI all forged trucks put the WB out at least.5″ I guess. I’ve read the Forged Thunders have the same WB as Cast Ventures, and Forged Indys same as cast Thunders
You should do a video where you build a skateboard using only amazon
Hey Ben which truck turns better now? The thunder or the venture? In the venture low review you said that the ventures turn bad and that we should get thunders instead for better turning. In this comparison you said, that the ventures turn better… I’m confused…
4:54 what does he mean by it wouldn’t work out right? lol What’s wrong with small trucks on a wide board?
I hope you guys leave reviews on all the products you buy. This $10 board can’t do a 17 ft drop to flat
Now that Indy’s are being made in China the product tags will read like they are written by Aliens…
“These trucks roll faster than all other wheels at the roller festivities”
I skate venture and tensor I’m acually new to skating venture and I love tensor
Walmart has some darn good trucks.
They have some plastic ones that are really light.
Not true owelsome does and I’m trying them now with wheels berrings minus a skate tool their good 25 bucks 2 days shipping solid colors
What I learned from this is most people don’t know how to write and give proper reviews. They should have a pro review.
I have been waiting for over 2 years for the graphic to pop up @ 5:32
I think the video was slowed down so they could have more watch time. It seems more normal when you speed it up
A little off on truck width vs. Board width but you’ve got the right idea….your wheels should not be completely hidden under the width of your board due to trucks not being wide enough….that is known as a doof set-up…
Do different size trucks effect how sharp you turn? I’m used to riding penny’s so i usually lean too far when turning. I also lock up my wheels with the deck a lot. How can I solve this?
Independent trucks have always had the best fuel. My only issue with them was the Kingpin is long.
I have a question, do you guys skate with loose wheels and loose trucks, or the opposite, or one of each? Plz comment back.:D
So… is no one going to bring up the treflip to board slide or…
42 bucks for a set of Indies? That’s a damn good price. Mine cost me 80 bucks at a West 49 about a decade ago, and yes, they have lasted that entire decade without a single fault or defect. In my mind, Lib Tech decks, Pig wheels, Indy trucks and Black Panther bearings make for excellent ride quality and control. It helps that you could not break an Indy truck if you tried to. Mine have literally been run over by a car with no ill effect whatsoever.
Come to the kook side and review the tensor atg and mini logo trucks
Ive heard this dude is the most hated in boarding. Is that right?
Regular Indy’s for life, I like my kickflips slow and steezy. 149s on my 8.5 board
Venture trucks might not be known to turn well, however, give it some time to break in and they will turn just like any other truck in my opinion. And I don’t think it’s just the bushings. It probably has to do with minimal differences in how you’d lean into the trucks to get them to turn. Some trucks ‘turn early’ in a lean, some ‘turn late’. I’d say the Ventures simply turn late.
Just buy Independence, Thunder, Ace, Krux, venture, silver, or royal. Don’t bother with anything else unless you know what you’re doing. Don’t buy tensor.
He is so damn good! Truly shows that you can accomplish evertthing that you set your mind to with hard work, dedication, persistance, practise, patience, determination, the right attitude and most important you have to have a burning passion for what you are doing. Keep on killing it!
Element board
Bones bearings
Spitfire wheels
Mob grip
Destructo trucks
I got another question: Is there a video going through the distance between the front of the base-plate to the mid point of the axle? The distance of this will make it either more or less difficult to stay on a nose-slide or tail-slide! Right? (depending on the size of your wheels too, naturally)
Kind of an old video buy I would indeed like to see more Teach Lance to Skateboard videos.
cool thanks mate love the saying ”could be crusty, foot massage,
8:41 nooo they don’t give u bushings and they don’t even include the trucks
1:46 Kelly looking at carlos like he wants too suck him Raw.
I rided that tensor truck it broke after 2 months tho talk about qualities, the best truck in the game is indy i can’t argue with that
Im buying a skate deluxe board can anyone tell me if skate deluxe boards are good?
At 4:05 what is he looking at? He must be shy he is not looking at the camera I knew a kid like that when I was growing up brah
CAN ANYONE HELP I AM FROM INDIA….MY height is 5ft +….And my age is 16….i am confused b/w 7.75 and 8…..which Skateboard should i choose? my shoe size is 8(india)
Always skated tensor lows just setup new board and ordered new tensor trucks for it since its a bigger board cant wait to try em tho great video
Guys I bought primitive 8.0 deck what trucks do u guys recommend I doing flat ground
What’s the mans instagram he deserves a follow, nice vid by the way
Am I able to drill a hole into my trucks where the bolt enters… because there is a hole for a bolt but it is too far off
Such total BS, a very common set up these days is 8.25 deck and 8.5 trucks
My wheels is 54 mm but I am short so should I use high or low trucks. Plz help
I just got into skate boarding, started on my daughter’s super cheap 7” enuff board and it was pretty sketchy to be honest. I got some crazy big wheels as the roads are rough here and borrowed some old venture trucks and it felt great. But I was told venture were cheap and rubbish. But I don’t know, just got some New hollow high thunders and they don’t feel as stable as the ventures, I’m just cruising, I felt safe on the ventures temped to sent the thunders back. It’s driving me crazy thanks for the video, my kind of over thinking!
I’m 45 and just bought a pair of tensor trucks, that’s how I found you. I love your philosophy and you’re wise as hell. I’m in cancer recovery and decided I would start skating, there is a park around the corner. Thanks mate. I love your work.
Great, thanks for the table of widths for the different brands! That was needed.
ok i think i got it, the hollow axes are for smoking right? lmao
Fuck you guys. I almost got a heart attack when carlos said yhe trucks came in seperate(meaning 1). Had to go check my order that they came in pairs:D.
Trucks are often sold in pairs on amazon and other online skate stores
Skate shop that used to be near me ONLY sold trucks in pairs. So it was a bit shocking when I found out most places only sell then as one. And honestly who just buys 1 truck? If you have trucks and something goes wrong with them or just worn out, are you just going to buy 1? You don’t buy 3 wheels and 4 bearings.
What’s the bit you say between 6:40 and 6:47?
Something about flatground, some kerbs, nothing that goes too fast.
What has speed got to do with truck height?
btw Best instructional truck video I’ve seen so far.
Go to your local skate shop, ask them if they have indys, when they say yes,buy them!
If this dude were any more relaxed he would be pronounced dead
Homie was clear and precise. Loved the vid! Super informative
If there are any fingerboarders here you’d probably think ace trucks look like tdlb trucks
Back in my skate days I had, Indys,Phantom, Tensors,Destructo,World Industries,my friends had Venture, Grind kings, Krux but my favs where Royal out of all those, felt they where the right weight, high and length, plus price was decent too
tensor lows magnesiums are lightest poppy thing ever but either wheelbite or no turning
tensor trucks all the way.. have not skated for 10 years now.. but i still remember that was the shit! XD
if the i have the thunder 147, can i then use them for a 8.13 board. Does 0.005 inch matter?
What trucks should I get if I have a 6 x 25 (I know it’s small)
This guy was adorable lol I love the way he explained everything
Thanks for this video! For me you are one of the best English speakers in YouTube and whole internet. I´m German, my English is pretty well but I enjoy your calm and clear way of speaking a lot!
Great presentation, diction, cadence, and useful info in a smooth flow. Kinda like a long lazy wave just propelling you down an infinite face on a 10′ longboard. Thanks for all the good tips!
Been using Thunder 147 hollow lights…they’re so fucking supreme
when i buy wheels from skatewarehouse, do i have to set the quantity to 4 to get all of them? i might just be stupid but ive never bought a complete before
Im thinking bout getting these i have really heavy venture trucks and i cant do high ollies because im very light
Lol dwindle decks are stiffer than normal boards because of the epoxy glue they use haha
Im getting back into skateboarding after a 10 year stop (29 now) and im looking to get a new setup. Im am lookin at gettin a 8.125 deck from blind and would like to try some wider trucks. Probably going for 148 Thunders. Did i pick up Thunder don’t make low trucks anymore? Im looking to get the Highs but some trucks don’t say high or low on them. Are they all just high now?
You think I can fit a 144mm indie trucks on a 8.25 deck cause I seen people do it
I have 149 trucks and I ride a 8.25 but recently I want to go up to 8.5 but i don’t want my skateboard to look weird so should I just a 8.38 or stay at a 8.25
Your videos are so inspiring. I wish I could just go out there after work and skate like you do. Unfortunately, I do not live in a surf/skate community, which I think is the main reason why. Some trick tutorials would be awesome. Do you ever hit any rails? Your flat ground game is sick..
Thanks a lot you are very informative and video quality is good.
Ngl nyjah gets too much hate I absolutely love his skateboarding
Thank you for sharing! This is exactly what I was looking for!
Does anyone feel like skateboard is heavy and big even it’s 7.75? For me it’s heavy and big and very loud when doing tricks and drop on the ground maybe im too skinny and have small feet or it’s just how a skateboard is because I’ve just started skate. I’m 5’7 and 47kg and shoes size 39 EU.
Forget Nyjah. How about the skills of the camera man riding through poles and narrow hallways while filming
For a 8” rout after hours 4 am board what trucks should i get from ccs if I want 59mm wheels
Now that I know Nyjah’s setup I can now Switch Lip eltoro! sike
You can say what you want about his no style but let me see any of you approach a 12 stair hand rail and backside slide it like you were pat Duffy..
Shit try a 6 stair. Lol. Good luck. This kids got massive balls.
i also ride somewhat tight trucks not really tight but not super loose
Toy machine 8’,Indy hollows,spitfire bearings,bones 100 ringers,and mob8 grip
Very informative, thanks dude! I found this video via google search as I’m researching how to select parts for my first standard popsicle deck (have only skated Penny cruisers so far), and I’ll be sure to check out your other videos now!
Hey guys I have an idea for stupid skate. One truck be super tight and the other loose
I have this friend who just started skating and is like obsessed with trendy things and Nyjah. Saying things like people who ride tight trucks and anything other than Independent are losers. Well how about that. Nyjah prefers tight trucks AND rides thunders.
I have an 8.8 deck and I want thundertrucks what size do I need?
Not sure why he wears yoga pants and a sun dress but he shreds lol
Uch, wow Ben is riding this park, thank you for this video:)
Whenever I think of nyjha Houston I always think of Sean malto. Idk why
No one gonna talk about the bike that flew out from the guy in the back at 8:57?
A pretty generic setup right down to the tight trucks. Just goes to show that it ‘s all personal preference and there’s no such thing as a “pro” setup. He’s hated for his personality, which if warranted; you’re just sore if you complain about his skating.
I’ve had both hollow thunder lights and several tensor magnesiums and I would have to go with the thunder just because the bushings are crap in tensors and they get torn really easily. How? Idk but that’s just a reoccurring issue I had with them. Anyways, they are both really light and I’ve tracked hundreds of miles on both
Primitive trent mcclung deck
Thunder trucks
Black panther bearings
Spitfire formula four’s
