Balanced and flexible Teaches lifelong skills No foods are forbidden Slow and steady weight loss Tons of support and resources Reduces diabetes risk Promotes exercise.Doctors say Weight Watchers works because it focuses on real nutritional properties, like calories, sugar, and fat. It is still possible, however, to have an overall unhealthy diet on Weight Watchers. The flexibility of the program may help some people incorporate it into their lives, but may not be specific enough to work for others. Some of the Pros of Weight Watchers One of the great things about Weight Watchers is that no forbidden foods.
It means that you’re less likely to have late night binge-fests with those foods that you’ve been trying to avoid for weeks. In addition, not only the off limits, but you also learn about nutrition while you’re on Weight Watchers.Pros of WW.
As with any type of weight loss regimen, there are pros and cons. In addition to the benefits listed below, gives those who follow choices. They aren’t limited to only one type of food or such minimal portions that they’re hungry a short time later.
1 – Flexibility. Weight Watchers is one of the most balanced diet plans available. Using the point system, users are able to choose which food. There are many pros and cons of Weight Watchers, but ultimately the decision comes down to you and what will work best for your life.

Have they really changed? In today’s episode, Dr. Tina Boogren and I discuss the pros and cons of Weight Watchers, including: The one change Dr.
Boogren made so WW worked for her this time; Why WW can support one person and sabotage another. As a weight-loss program, the plan doesn’t provide the tools needed to understand daily fluctuations in hunger and fullness, which could lead to regaining any lost weight over time. The program also has the potential to create food fear and binge eating due to restricting foods that are highly palatable for most people.Weight Watchers stresses portion control and the importance of physical activity, which are vital to weight-loss success.
Another benefit of the program is.The Pros and Cons of the Instant Pot. Two things make it great: a quicker cooking time (if you’re using the pressure setting) and greater energy efficiency. But in truth, its appeal is its flexibility.
The Instant Pot features a range of buttons on its control panel for various foods: meat/stew, beans/chili, soup, grains, porridge, and more.It provides enormous support and a lot of sound advice, and there are classes throughout the world. However, like all weight loss programs, it too has its drawbacks. Weight Watchers is one of the most successful programs for weight loss and has many dedicated members who have followed it for years.

I am on WW (blue plan) and so far I have lost 103.1 lbs. Yay!
My mom talked me into joining Weight Watchers when I was 13 years, which was 1985, so there weren’t points then; and lost maybe 25 lbs. I joined again when I was 23, then their program was “fat & fiber” and I lose hardly any weight. I joined after I got married at 25, that was their first version of the points system, and I lost 55 lbs. I gained it all back and more, my mom told me it was because I baked a peach pie and eat too much of it. LOL. (No anger at my mom, she is just following the diet rules she has believed her enter life and her entire has a series of one diet after another). I have joined WW at least 5 more times since my 55 lbs, with little success.
I like that WW is real food and encourages healthy foods. However what I realized is that on WW I constantly thought about food, worrying if it was good or bad, how many points did I have left and feeling guilty if I went over. I got depressed when I thought about having to do that for the my rest of my life. I have just barely started Intuitive Eating, but this what I have been looking for my entire life.
This was such an awesome video. I was never bored, I was genuinely interested in watching it and it was the way you explained everything!! I am definitely joining up now using your link! I can’t wait to start. I wish you the best of luck in your journey hun!!
I really need help. I have gained at least 175 lbs in 4 years. I was addicted to drugs but when I quit I switched to food for comfort. I thought I was getting a handle on it but then my oldest daughter committed suicide. Now I’m so depressed I can’t even start to control my eating.
I just started WW yesterday. I have 16 points so 23 is definitely not the lowest Thanks for making this video!
Thank you so much for posting this! I am definitely signing up!
I think this can help people tooooo

Such a helpful video. I’m signing up for WW tomorrow! I’m looking to lose 100 pounds.:)
My best friend lost 90lbs on WW so I gave it a try…twice. I tried for the first time two years ago before my wedding and…I gained 15 pounds I decided to give it another go in February of this year, and I’ve gained 20 pounds since starting this program I think it definitely has some good aspects. My issue with it is that for me on Blue I had 23 points. As far as the app was concerned it didn’t make a difference if I used all of my 23 points on fast food or on healthy food. I know how to eat right and maintain a really healthy diet, so I’m not sure how I managed to gain weight twice on this program The online coaches are unhelpful and only provide generic answers. I wish there was more of a focus on eating healthy and integrating physical activity rather than on earning the dots.
The reason people think you weigh in front of everyone is you used to do that when I went to WW when much younger.
I always look forward to and enjoy your videos. No food rules still seems too good to be true. Especially when sugar addiction is at play
I just started WW a week ago. I used to be Vegan, Paleo, Whole30, calorie counted, macros tracking, etc and tbh I’ve been LOVING WW. Like others have said, I think understanding the point system would have been super helpful vs eating your normal foods and just logging into the system. I’ve made a similar dinner (fajita bowls) and it was only 8 points!! It was SO good and satisfying! I’ve also had ice cream & cheese puffs this week LOL I would have LOVED to see a video of eating to the suggest plan vs just logging whatever you’re eating in the day and see how you felt after following their points system. Like I said, I’m a week in and I’m loving it. I struggle with intuitive eating, portion control & binge eating so this has been VERY easy for me while having to confront my poor eating habits from before. I feel a lot of freedom since no food is off limits and if I want something I can have it, just as a smaller portion. The points do change based on your weight and goals, my points went down we I lost weight this week. ALSO, if your goal isn’t to lose weight, then yes, this program isn’t for you.
Thank you so much for this video. I just joined WW yesterday and I found the information very helpful. I love how you can get tips and suggestions. Congratulations on your weight loss and again thank you.
You totally motivated me to look into WW, so I downloaded the app and there you are!! Yay! I did Weight Watchers many many years ago and it always worked for me so tomorrow I may go to our local office and take it from there! Congratulations on your weight loss journey and success!!
Hi. Thank you for sharing this about weight watchers. In the past I had joined twice and twice I failed. I joined when the duchess was a spokesperson for them and then when Jennifer Hudson was spokesperson. And now I’m thinking about joining again when Oprah came on. But after seeing your channel I think I can do it again for good. You should be a spokesperson for them because you have convinced me to try it again. I’ve been on many other diets and I’m tired of feeling like I do defeated. Thank you again.
Thanks to you I really think I’m going to do this… I’m super nervous because I’ve tried before but I got off track but this time I want it to be different.
As soon as I was done watching this video I went right to sign up for WW, I’m excited! I’ll definitely be watching your videos for some inspiration!
Great job Any loss is good especially when you look at the bigger picture as a whole. it’s important to look at your Non scale victories when you’re not seeing a drop on the scale, you might notice your clothes aren’t as tight etc.
WW is focusing on eating every day real foods they have some great cook books which you might find useful which are available at any workshop or online through the WW website.
I’ve just joined and have been allocated green. Sounds like I would have preferred a choice of plan.
On the topic of green what colour is your wall paint behind you? X
Can you do a video about what to pack for lunch and cooking when you come home from work exhausted?
I love the plan! This is what I was on similar to in 2011. I have definitely noticed the inches dropping off. on this plan I have to be very mindful as I have to literally point everything minus the fruit and veg. Great vlog natasha always thanku xx
I feel like all of you saying it “works” didn’t even finish the video… she clearly says that yes, WW would help you lose weight in the short run, but it’s not sustainable and basically encourages disordered eating. She also says that she understands that she only did it for one day, but she still has an opinion simply due to the all-encompassing point system. Before you comment, finish the video.
Let’s get something straight here right out of the gate. You’re already thin and in-shape enough to go “running.” For some poor slob that’s 450 pounds WW would be a Godsend because it would begin to teach portion control and making better choices. I guess I don’t understand what your point was of spending all this time making this video. I knew what the outcome was going to be the first second I laid eyes on you.
Intuitive eating is wonderful for some people; however, some people can’t eat intuitively for many different reasons. I take antidepressants and have gained 80lbs because my hunger and fullness cues are nonexistent. WW has helped me to get my eating habits back to a healthy range. I am starting to actually lose the weight I gained. As much as I would love to give up diets for good, it’s not a realistic for me and many other people.
I am 5’10” too! Nice to see another tall girl. Congratulations on your weight loss so far!
I saw you had 26 used for ONE day, with 46 left for the day, but it was just Tuesday…is that right?
Thank you so much for this info. Very well explained. You and Oprah should do commercials.
Which WW program are you on? It sounds like you are on the flex plan
Hi I’m new to WW I started yesterday and I feel like my points are way too high. Would you mind sharing how many points you started with in your journey?
You are an inspiring, beautiful young women. You give me hope, I’m 25 and I’m looking to start my journey. Seeing how well it has worked for you makes it seems promising for me. Thanks for sharing!
I am on blue as well like u and I am also on Fitbit diet and I have the Fitbit app
How can I message you privately? I have more questions that you did not mention..❤️
Thank you for sharing your story!!! I’m a newer WW member (lost weight years ago, but fell off and now I’m trying again) and don’t plan on turning back. You are a true inspiration to us members who have some weight to lose. Thank you…and look forwarding to following your journey!
Lady you have no idea what your even talking about WW is a saint if anything & has help many also counting my self to have the exact opposite of what your saying…I now have a healthy eating relationship with food…you’ve got WW all wrong…best of luck on shaming life changing programs like WW that helps millions become more healthy & more Conscience of what there putting into their bodies so they can live their best lives
So I joined I’m not what to do.Do they send you the recipes?
I swear an olive garden never ending pasta commercial popped up
Always great how you explain things so sensibly! Thank you x
I lost 90 pounds & I’ve been a Lifetime member of WW for 10 years now. So when you say it “doesn’t work” that’s not true. It does work. I’m not a minority. There are many others like me. I absolutely love WW, and it has added SO much positivity to my life. You are missing A LOT of what WW actually is & all it encompasses. You tracked your food for ONE day. Aside from not actually understanding the food portion of the program, you are totally missing out on everything else that is WW. I could go on, but I digress.
I’m a carb queen and that’s why I’m overweight I do not trust myself on
I don’t see the link you were talking about. I’m interested in joining WW
Thank you for the inspiration. I’m looking into WW and found your video whiles doing some research. I think I will try WW. New subbie, thank you again I’m very inspired
Found this video/channel because I signed up for WW today! I have 50 smart points with I think is a lot I am glad I found your channel. I don’t quite understand the daily vs the weekly. The weekly is normally smaller than daily. Also when I scan an item there are different points given by different ppl so hmm idk
I agree with you! I have been on maintainance for almost 4 years. BLUE is realistic and livable!!️️️
Great helpful informative video. I’m thinking about joining WW. Can you tell me if they do any plan or advice leaflets for diabetics? Thanks. Congratulations on your fabulous weight loss such an inspiration to us all.
Interesting video. I do think you could have done a little bit more research though. You can actually claim back points for exercise. For example, I get 3 points back if I walk for 30 minutes. I assume it would be more if you ran in the morning! Personally I’ve lost 20 pounds overall. I love the points system, it works for me!
Thank you so much for creating this video. Very informative for sure. Also, congrats on your weight loss. You look amazing. Keep up the great work!:)
See, I’ve had a really positive experience with WW. I’m on the purple plan, so I get 23 points a day, and whole grains are zero points, in addition to fruits, veggies, lean protein, etc.. It actually helped me break one of my food rules around pasta, because I LOVE whole grain and chickpea pasta, but always considered it a “bad” food. Now I have pasta at least once a week, whenever I feel like it.
I never really dealt with feeling hungry, but I have health issues that cause loss of appetite, so being reminded to not skip meals or eat way under my points is helpful.
I do intuitive eating as well-if I go over points, no big deal. And I’ve always found I’m very satisfied eating a lot of the “healthy” type foods for the most part, so satisfaction hasn’t been an issue for me.
And some weeks, I skip tracking all together. Sometimes I get bored or too stressed by other life things, so I just don’t track. And that’s cool too!
I think this would have been helpful if you A. Learned about the program before filming at all. B. Weren’t already eating healthy and had a problem with portion control. As a dietician I think it is irresponsible to write off a program without understanding it & really getting in the mindset of the people who are using a program like this. The point system works for people who have been betrayed by “listening to their bodies”. It is for people who already have a poor relationship with food & need a loose guideline to stay in control of their meals.
I did WW years ago and I was always walking around with my calculator in the grocery store trying to figure out how I could make it work with what I wanted to eat and what I was allotted to eat. I’m a taller than average woman so I probably got more points, but I’d still have a lot of times where I was still hungry. Every grocery trip and day of eating was a game of Tetris. I also disliked how they were pro-artificially sweetened food because it had less calories yet real foods were “bad.” I did it for a few months and gave it an honest try and it never did much for me. This was before the app so I carried my book around with me everywhere and had the cookbooks, products, etc. I was thinking of food in terms of points and that’s not how I wanted to look at food and I was frustrated because I was looking for something to help me break bad food habits/addictions and this program amplified it.
I’m happy that it has worked for some people, unfortunately I wasn’t one. I think the people that love WW and what it did for them are missing the overall point of this video. From reading the comments a lot of you say that she missed all the extra ins and outs of the app and the different systems that would have justified her point consumption (exercise), however the point was that eating shouldn’t be that complicated and you shouldn’t have to feel bad or that your borrowing food from tomorrow to feel satisfied today. She’s very clear that this is her opinion and encouraging everyone to do what feels right for themselves. If WW is working for you, that’s awesome, but it doesn’t work for everyone and that’s okay too. We don’t all have to like the same thing. We are all trying to find what is right for ourselves:) <3
Thank you so much for the information it has helped me so much. And congratulations on the 70.lb. weightless.
Thank You sooooo much, i was just on the WW website yesterday but I didn’t complete the registration because I had no idea how the program works, you gave such a clear indepth description that I now feel that the program is something I can work with. I will be investing in myself on Saturday when I enroll. Be Blessed.
I haven’t even watched the video yet but I wanted to tell you that you are soooo pretty!!! Oh! And I love your hair!!
Wow…. I am so thankful that I found this video…. You literally answered every single question that I had….thank you!
Great explanation. I guess I must be on a different plan. Only veggies and fruit are 0 points for me. Chicken, beans, fish etc do cost me points. Hmmm? Do you know why that is?
Thank you Justyn for this great video! It is so thorough and informative. I have watched a few times as I have just started the program a few days ago and you have been very helpful!
The idea cutout so I didn’t hear how many points is a rice cake?
I think probably a first mistake here is the amount of points you got for allowance is low….I think you should have chosen maintenance which would have given you 28. Second they ENCOURAGE. Using your weekly points and also fit points if you’re working out and require more. Personally WW has help with my bingeing and restricting. I’m not sure that a 1 day review of this is really sufficient?? Also I think maybe really understanding the program and how it works before using it is more responsible to do before making this review.
I’m on WW and love it so so so much! It really gave me a good base and taught me new habits!
Wow you make this look so easy something I can do a wife and mother of 4 children. This video was definitely helpful with you posting your phone on the split screen thank you New subscriber ☝
I know this is super personal so feel free not to answer, but you talked about hormonal imbalances and elevated cortisol levels… Do you have PCOS? I just got diagnosed and was looking to see if WW was good for it? Sorry I know there’s multiple reasons for hormonal balances, I was just curious. Thanks for your video, very straight to the point!
I did WW for a week and it stressed me out so bad. I agree with this review 100%. This is not a healthy way to lose weight. This is t necessary healthy way of eating
I was told by someone that they give you the food to make meals? Is this true?
You have the gift of teaching girl! I wish I had listened to you back in April when I finally jumped on the WW app after journaling!
I’ve tried Weight Watchers a couple of times over the years. I did lose weight but did not keep it off. I felt like my focus was on food constantly. That was not healthy for me. Right now I’m just trying to focus on eating better foods and only eating until I feel satisfied. If I need to eat a few chips I do just that…a few. It seems to be working for me.
I’m new to WW and I got the green plan. I put down I’m a vegetarian, but this video helped a lot to explain the green plan.
How do you exchange the old battery to a new one? PLEASE HELP
I’m currently on , but I find that Thank you for another fantastic video! I’m currently on , but find that I’m eating too many processed foods with the extra points. I’m seriously considering switching back to next week. On , I tend to eat more fresh food and less processed foods.
I just found your video through searching ‘Weight Watchers Australia’ and it’s great to find someone else on this journey. I’m in Sa and just started WW a few days ago. I know it works though, because I followed WW in 2016 and lost a bunch of weight but Christmas that year was my downfall. Too much gingerbread around, which I love! I am on the green plan, but I don’t really know all the differences between the plans yet because they didn’t exist a few years ago. Anyway, thank you for sharing your experiences so far. You’ve got a new subscriber here.:)
I love this so much! I tried a free trial of WW about a month ago, and it totally triggered my old restrictive eating habits (I don’t even need to lose weight, I just wanted to eat more veggies and less processed foods). I love that you eat so many snacks like I do. This is so validating to me. I’ve really been trusting my body lately, and it’s so great. I’m learning what feels good to eat. So different. I love that. Thanks for doing what you do!!!
I’ve done ww a couple times. I was able to lose weight for my wedding but I knew it wasn’t going to work long term. I became obsessive about having to count and measure everything. And I was NEVER happy because I was hungry all the time! And EVERY food choice I made was to stay in line with my point allowance. I know it was not mentally healthy for me.
I’ve always had bad luck with WW (and I’ve tried going back numerous times). For me, my maintenance calories are 3100 calories, but when I do weight watchers, there are days that my intake is 1,000 calories! That and, because their weights are based around BMI, my goal weight is always “too high” for the system (but their suggested weight would be me literally at skin and bones).
I know it works for many! But it doesn’t work for all…
I also agree with your thoughts about focusing on numbers. At the height of my disordered eating, was the one time I was deep in WW. I can vividly remember all of my containers in the fridge with sticky notes on them (with points) and writing out points on food the moment they came in the front door from the grocery store. The guilt game was strong too (meaning the binge became high, because binging and purging was something I could control).
WW has given me the support I need through Workshops but found that I needed to get more in tune with my hunger. 1 day as others have said is not the experience you need to truly experience WW. I still attend my workshops for support but I am no longer following a point system because tracking caused my eating disorder to spiral. The science is there. But you do need to weigh and measure with WW.
Hi I just joined ww am on green plan well that what app picked for me I tried ww in past but never knew how to go about tracking food with points and with stress I gave up am now back on ww and went on YouTube to find videos about ww and yours came up I have sub to your Channel and your videos about all the plans blue green and purple have been very good to know before going on to a plan and not knowing what to do as this is first time I have really use the point system and I never knew about the 0 point foods I thought if you use up the points you was giving that was it lol am so glad you pointed out about the 0 foods are not calorie free cos I thought they was lol glad to know before I started gonna be watching more of your videos they really helped me. Anastasia
I think Weight Watcher’s might be a good way to transition from strict calorie counting to intuitive eating, but I don’t think it should be the goal or a lifelong way of eating.
I have a friend who has gone from a size 18 to a size 12 through weight watchers and she sings praise about them non stop: HOWEVER, she has been following the WW plans for a year and has recently been discussing the obsession she has had with losing weight, as the constant check-ins and praise they get for losing is extremely gratifying. She recently ate nowhere near enough calories because she was so focussed on losing more weight and passed out while doing general daily activities, and recognised that it was due to her wanting to lose more weight. As someone who suffered with anorexia for 3 years I am super not into any schemes where there are “weigh ins” and gratification in the form of groups gratifying you when you lose weight, it seems really damaging and I feel like it isn’t so much mindful thinking as it is just micro management on your diet. I’m super happy for her because she feels so much better and looks so much happier, but I would still never touch that sort of thing myself. I feel like they can lead to disordered eating behaviours.
This was an amazing video. Very thorough. The app and how it works at restaurants was a great addition. Very smart to put how much points you want to eat and search that way instead of adding every single ingredient/food on your plate and adding it up. Thank you
Taco salad looked amazing! I did WW 20 years ago with my mom and I thought the program was a lot more simple. We really liked it back then. I really like your input about listening to your body. Thank you so much!!
Started on then had meals out and discovered was more practical as zero carbs doesn’t bother me. Lost 1 1/2 stone since mid nov 2019
Two things that I noticed about this video… You didn’t eat as much free food as you could such as when I get hungry and I need a snack I’ll eat some grapes or some carrotssomething that’s filling and healthy but free points. Another thing is you’re actually trying to lose weight on this app so you’ve obviously been not eating healthy or eating way too much… And it’s training you to make better choices and better portions.
You don’t need either of those things as you obviously eat very healthy and are very good weight.
I’ve never tried WW, but after watching your video I’m glad I choose Noom over it. HOWEVER, you completely glossed over the fact that the WW Blue plan has a TON of zero-point foods that can be made into delicious meals… https://www.weightwatchers.com/us/blog/weight-loss/complete-zero-point-foods-list
Oh my goodness, I have never met another female “Justin.” I am Justinn!
I’ve been on and off Weight Watchers since 1969! (Yes, I’m THAT old lol!). In the old days, the diet was very strict and not always tasty. (You could make fake cookies using your powdered milk allotment for the day and shaved apple-blechh! ). Throughout the years, I’d be on WW, lose weight, hit my goal, then eventually gain it all back (and more). I really did start thinking of points more than nutrition. Also, WW kept changing their programs and point system, which was frustrating to me.
My last WW experience was a few years ago. I lost 40 pounds, and yes, gained it back. It was like a massive craving for “bad foods” came roaring back as soon as I hit my goal weight. I’m trying now to stay away from any sort of counting, because I know that if I “go over” my daily limit, I’ll just think, “What the heck, I’ve already blown it, I might as well eat whatever I want.”
I actually came back to this video because I have another recommendation to dig into. The hospital system in my hometown of good ol Sioux Falls, SD, has a “Weight Loss and Health Coaching” program called Sanford Profile ( https://www.profileplan.com/). It has now spread to most states, to my understanding. You have a “coach,” who just needs a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, 6 months prior experience with wellness, fitness, and/or nutrition programs preferred, and to maintain a “Profile Coach Certification”, whatever that is.
It is mostly ran off of shakes, kind of based off of keto, but the kicker is that they have their own food ( https://food.profileplan.com/). They claim it is supposed to ease you back into a more “normal diet,” for lack of a better explanation. And, as someone who was on it, their “food” blows hahaha their shakes taste pretty good, and so do their protein bars. However I think it is interesting that they have created a whole line of “safe food” to basically capitalize on your wallet and insecurities. But like to sign up you need to buy their scale and “bridge” which connects every reading to your phone and your coach wirelessly and yeah. That’s really all I can say about that. I would love to chat with you if you want to know more!
Hi Gemma, I’ve been watching your WW videos for a few days now and really enjoying them. You explain the programme really well and I’m definitely thinking of signing up. Have subscribed, cant wait to see future videos
In my opinion you did not give this a fair assessment. I do not think that any program is perfect but I think when helping others to decided on something you need to first inform yourself. It would have been helpful if you did the research and try to fully understand each plan. Also there are various articles explaining different aspects of the program. It would have helped to research what your zero point foods were and meal plan around that. I am on weight watchers. It has helped me become aware of the types of foods I was eating and the frequency in which I was eating them. I make better choices. Don’t get me wrong I still have fast food burgers, Chinese, pizza, etc. But I plan for them. I do not deny myself those foods that I love but I practice more moderation. Weight Watchers market itself more as a lifestyle which means that the these habits you would continue once you reach your goal weight. Once you do that you go into maintenance which means your points are charged from weight loss mode to maintaining. I am not saying this program is right for everyone, but doing the research before going into it would give your assessment a better footing. Also trying it for more than just a day would have also been better. Not just for this program but for any program.
Very interesting review! I follow ww, on maintenance mode, and eat very similarly to you. I generally stay within the points for maintaining weight. I do measure my peanut butter, and on occasion, weigh foods to reacquaint myself with a healthy portion size, but otherwise eat mindfully and intuitively. The biggest change for me was kicking my nighttime sugar habit. Also I’m weighing myself weekly now instead of daily multiple times. I love my virtual ww workshop, and I actually like tracking. Nevertheless, I value your comments! So interesting that you feel so differently than I do about ww.
I’ve watched a few videos of yours like this and you seem to only be a fan of intuitive eating and nothing else is a good option. Also if you’re going to review a program it might be a good idea to learn more about the program and try it for more then one day before judging it. I think to each their own but some people need some guidelines. I sure hope if someone asks your advice (as you say people do) on this or any other program that you’d be careful to provide your thoughts on such limited information and trying it for only one day…that would not be very responsible. Clearly these programs bring up eating issues in your past but that doesn’t mean everyone is in that same boat.
WW definitely had some positive impacts but I know that I was for sure starting to slip into these negative behaviors. For example, I reach for healthier snacks more often (snacks that would be considered “0 points”) on the plan, but more so because I feel better eating that way. But I don’t feel bad for adding some peanut butter to my apple anymore.
You were so correct on not getting enough fuel to exercise. I quit WW after having to lay on my floor in the middle of a workout a couple of weeks ago and realizing I was just not getting enough fuel.
I was really considering going back on Keto but WW may be the way to go. Have you tried keto? I would love the comparison
Hi! I was just talking to a friend who doesn’t like WW, for me it’s helped a ton with my binge eating and gave me a better relationship with food (: but when we actually started talking she does really good with intuitive eating where I do not. Intuitive eating sends me into a bad spiral. I also know that if I’m having a strong craving I will just eat it, so for me it gave me a healthier approach to food. I lost over 50 lbs (:
THE SMOOTHIE DIET is a revolutionary new life-transformation system that not only guarantees to help you lose weight and feel better than you have in years, it also promises to eliminate more body fat faster than anything you’ve tried before. https://healthlifechannel.com/smoothie-diet/
Thank you YouTube for guiding me to you. Motivating me so much.
Thank you Natasha. Excellent explanation of the Green Plan. I’m on Maintenance too, lost 70 lbs on Freestyle, maintaining for a year on Blue already, no problems, other than initially losing more weight after bumping up to 28 Maintenance points which was odd. Just counted calories along with pointing for a few weeks until I figured out how many calories I needed to maintain my weight. I’m Team Blue all the way but 95% of my fellow WW members in my meeting switched to Green because they felt Blue offers too much freedom and Green offers them the structure they need. My Meeting Leader stayed Blue as well. Interesting to hear why people choose one Plan over another. Brilliant of you to explain pros and cons of each!!! Awesome video as usual!!! ❤
i started weight watchers when i was 11 wish i never did i developed issues with binging and gained more weight than i feel i would have without it
Loved this! While I haven’t done WW I did do Beachbody’s portion fix and felt the same. Would love for you to review that too!
WW IS A WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM. All you did was show us you don’t like restriction. If WW has worked for you, congrats! Please don’t listen to a person who never struggled with obesity and only did the diet for a day, smh.
I love your videos. Can you please review and share thoughts on intermittent fasting?
Thank you Justyn. You remind me so much of myself. Virtual hugs!!
Hi Justyn, what type of weight watchers program would you suggest for a newbie? Should I sign up for digital, coaching or digital and workshop? You or anyone’s help would be greatly appreciated ☺️
Im enjoying ans lost 5 lbs in my first week.
They MAJOR draw to blue is that potatoes, pasta, and rice are NOT zero point foods.
This is why slimming world never worked for me, i could have toast for breakfast ( hexb) a jacket for lunch with salad ans then more potatoes, pasta, rice for tea, ( and its not wholemeal, its white pasta etc) if you tell me I can eat all the carbs I will and it just doesn’t work for me.
I’m on green now I did not like the old plan and actually quit WW last year because of it. I wasn’t losing wheight that well with it and as a vegan I felt like I had to eat beans and tofu every meal because they were zero points and I grew so tired of the diet. Now on green plan I can switch it up with falafel or meat substitutes more often which suits me better:) I also had much success with a previous plan back on 2015-ish which was similair to green. I feel like the blue plan is good for someone who is not a vegan and who wants to cut down on carbs:)
I found this video incredibly irritating. Weight Watchers isn’t designed for people who can listen to their bodies and find success. Some of our bodies are telling us to eat a dozen chocolate chip cookies. You were ill informed on the program and didn’t consider the needs of Weight Watcher’s target audience. Most of us already have an unhealthy relationship with food! Your review is irresponsible and a disservice to your watchers. No one who’s successful on Weight Watchers goes about it the way you did. We calculate and alter what we eat to make healthier choices throughout the day. We do not eat whatever and then calculate the points. I am very satisfied and rarely hungry. If you’re hungry on Weight Watchers, you’re doing it wrong.
WW is a great program for those who struggle with portion control and healthy choices. WW taught me how to make decisions and control how much I consumed during the day. A great guideline in my opinion.
I would love to see a review on keto. It really messed with me and I want to hear your opinion on the good, bad and ugly of keto.
I joined WW last month so I’m fairly new but I have tracked macros for years so I’m not new to weighing foods and counting calories but I just have to say I will be deleting WW and sticking with Cronometer. You said everything I have been thinking. WW can actually be very detrimental to someone’s relationship with food and cause negative perceptions of food which is not good. For example WW HATES higher fat items even healthy fats!! A serving of natural peanut butter (2 tbsp) is 6 points! The app loves diet foods and fat free foods which I’m not okay with consuming on a daily basis. Fat free yogurt.. fat free cheese… fat free ground turkey.. no way. Yes WW will cause weight loss absolutely, but that is not the argument here. If you only care about weight loss alone then great WW is a solid option for individuals that have no idea about portion control or caloric intake then you can learn a thing or two from WW but… will I remain a member?? No. My relationship with food is more important than weight loss. And to mention I’ve lost weight just fine by eating proper portions, loosely intermittent fasting, drinking plenty of water, eating mindfully, and watching my consumption of processed foods
I feel like WW has given me gudelines to make better food choices and exercise more. Without really doing the math, I think if you would’ve had just had less peanut butter and logged your run on the app (fit points), you would’ve been very close to the daily points. The average person starts WW with really bad eating and exercise habits, it takes time to form new ones and it’s never easy at first.
Thank you for your honest review. However by only doing the plan for one day, you may have missed some of the ideas and tools the my WW plan brings to the table.Full disclosure, I have been on WW and have lost over 120 lbs. One thing I have learned is that WW is not a diet. I feel I have learned how to eat healthier for the long haul. If you look at the zero point food list you will see they are made up of lean proteins, fruits, vegges, beans and some whole grains. There is more to WW than just points. They also stress you mindset and how our attitudes effect out outcome. They also encourage exercise. In fact, you also earn extra points by being active. So even though you ate more than 23 points the day you tracked, you probably earned several “fit points” that same day. My guess is that what you tracked was probably very in line with what your daily points, plus your fir points would have been for that day. I do agree with what you say about being satisfied. That is very important too. I just wanted to let you and your viewers know there is a bit more to the program that what you experienced in your one day trial.
I have been off WW for many years, but until discovering the book Intuitive Eating, was still thinking in terms of points. I felt massively guilty for eating anything I knew would be high in points. I even lost my appetite for “zero point” foods even though I previously enjoyed fruits and veggies. It’s like I craved anything that the plan considered high points…like my body was rebelling or something? The first time I went on WW it really worked for me, but now I realize it put me on a path of 10+ years of disordered eating.
I don’t understand how you can be hungry after all of the things your had for breakfast and lunch. Especially the oatmeal that’s really filling.
This is pretty disingenuous as you didn’t really try it and your few days didn’t show the complete WW package ie you can get points for exercise if you want + weekly points. And remember most people on WW are not already a healthy weight like you so we start on a much higher rate of points and then learn how to eat healthily if we could eat intuitively we would have gotten fat in the first place. Disappointing to see such a glib and shallow video from a dietitian.
I had a successful weight loss in the 80’s and again after having my second child on WW. I’ve slowly gained 40 pounds over time from getting older and it’s really messed with my head. Ever since I’ve been practicing intuitive eating, my obsession with food ceased. I would be on food sites all the time pinning recipes. Now I pin pretty pictures. After being on WW’s on and off for decades I believe they set it up that you return due to regaining in order to profit because nobody can do that regime for the rest of their lives.
Thanks for the review! It helps to have another point of view. I’ve been doing WW for a few months and it has helped me with some things, but didn’t with others. I have to monitor and listen to myself. In my opinion, a WW is just a tool, and it’s to each person to use it as they feel fitted. You still have to work on yourself outside of the app. So, again thanks for the review and for the tips along the way
When I was a mom I didn’t drink much now that my kids are grown I’m living my green plan including a wine here n there
I did WW and it is exactly as you said, you start seeing food as points and not nourishment that should be satisfying as well. It made me think how much WW would’ve poo-pooed (giving it way high points) my breakfast of overnight oats, my lunch of whole grain toast with avocado, feta and tomatoes and chicken orzo soup. It probably would’ve “liked” my dinner (a bowl of quinoa, roasted beets and acorn squash, spinach, feta and chickpeas) but blown me out of the water for the carrot-ginger almond butter dressing. And yet all of it was so good and satisfying but the WW points would’ve had me second guessing everything!
I had 6 extra daily points when I was breastfeeding. It is so hard now that I dropped the 6 points as I have stopped BFing. I have been successful with the program but I miss my oatmeal and peanut butter. They are better for you than sugarfree BS. Also, my all natural peanut butter is more points than crap with added oils
Natasha, thanks, good to hear this. Great to know. I like your simple approach x
Do you have a sample grocery list of stuff you need to start ww?
First not everything works for everyone. Second you can eat what you want but not for every meal. If I want Pasta for dinner I use ground turkey in my homemade sauce, and bulk it up with eggplant and peppers. Then you choose lower point foods for other meals which are good and satisfying. Like a 3 egg omlet with spinach and tomatoes and center cut bacon and a two ingredient dough bagle for 4 points instead of that blueberry muffin. Lunch grilled could be chicken on a flatbread with tomatoes, lettuce and TBL of mayo (full fat) even a slice if cheese from 6 points and still have points for garlic bread 4 points with my pasta (protein plus penne) for 4 points my sauce with ground turkey and veggies zero points, and I would of had that muffin in the evening with teddy whip and fresh blueberries for 5 points for a grand total of 23 points. I ate ham, cheesey potatoes, sweet potatoes, etc On Easter. You just can’t eat like that everyday. I make better choices to allow myself the full fat and carbs…and when I want a Big Mac…I eat a Big Mac. You also get activity points which allow YOU to eat the way you did that day and maintain your weight. I’m not a dietician and I even know that. From your rant…it sounds like you still have issues with food. Good luck with that!
I personally don’t think anyone who’s had an unhealthy relationship (specifically with not eating enough) with food do any type of calorie counting, i guess unless it’s for health reasons. You look healthy and active and not trying to lose weight, most people who are on weight watchers are overweight, therefore have to be in a calorie deficit to achieve a healthier weight for there size, I’d say weight watchers makes that easier for those people. I personally don’t think anyone should be in a calorie deficit/tracking everything for more than 30 days, for a mental break and to give your body a rest. I’m 5’2 and naturally curvy, Im at a healthy weight for my frame and don’t really calorie count unless I’m trying to look good for a vacation or notice some weight gain (and i don’t think there is anything wrong that) but I’ve learned so much from calorie counting an different apps! when I gained weight in my early twenties because i could no longer eat whatever i wanted without gaining weight, and sure one, two even five pounds is no biggie (to me personally) but 10-15 pounds, about 145 pounds for a 5’2 woman doesn’t just lower your confidence because jeans won’t fit anymore but it’s considered overweight and unhealthy, I respect your opinion, and I see where you are coming from, but at the same time, I don’t think you can fully give an honest opinion if you’re not trying to lose weight.
You look like a straight athlete. This means you can eat the stuff you did in this video and it won’t affect you. Let’s be real….Weight Watchers is NOT for people who have high metabolisms and in extremely good shape. They are for people who are sedentary and don’t make good life style choices or for people who in GENERAL just absolutely need to drop a a good amount of weight. It didn’t work for you because it’s not designed for you. Secondly, you barely put any research into the different plans. If you had looked at the app a little more, you would have known you could have just switched to the green plan which gives you substantially more points so you could eat that oatmeal with the peanut butter and the tuna sandwich. You also would have known that you get “weeklies” which are extra points allocated so you can enjoy what you want. You also would have known that you have fit points, which are points you earn by working out and can trade in for extra smart points. You were “confused” but it’s a fairly simply concept. Green has more points, but the lowest amount of zero point foods. Blue has a nice balance. Modest amount of points and a modest amount of zero point foods. Purple has the lowest amount of points but the most amount of zero point foods.
Dang it! I didn’t watch the last few minutes before I signed up! I wish I could use your link because you really helped me decide.
I just LOVED the minute 1112 of the video! So true and I could totally feel you on that!!
You know, I felt the same way you were feeling. I am trying to stop counting my calories and it makes it so hard for me because I still want to lose a few pounds. But I am so tired of restriction and binge eating. I need some help. Thank you for this video btw. I enjoyed it
I would’ve loved to have seen you use your free points. Your plan was specifically lower points with more zero point foods. You could eat fruit or chicken for free, you could’ve also logged your running for more points. I honestly feel as if there wasn’t a great understanding of the program. I also think saying”I need to look into that more” constantly isn’t what you should be saying. Ppl that are actually seeking out the program do a lot of research to understand it, so I honestly feel like you should’ve done the same before reviewing. Just some criticism going forward as I feel not understanding a program completely and ALL of its features and then reviewing it isn’t super fair.
I lost about 135lbs with WW a couple of years ago. Even became a coach and worked for ww for about 2 years. Sucked all my energy out. but thats just a sidenote.:D
I kept the weight off for about 2,5 years before starting to gain again. And in the end I gained almost everything back. WW is a diet. No matter what they call it.
Are you kidding with the amount of food you ate. You didn’t follow the plan.
Ive just quit weight watchers after being on it for a couple of months and I feel like you summed up my experience of it perfectly
I get how it can work for some people but I do feel it needs better safeguarding for disordered eating. While I was consistently losing weight on it, my body image and relationship with food had never been worse. (Think crying my eyes out because I binged on a tub of halotop and used too much of my weeklies despite still being under 1400 calories that day) Also they market it as a lifestyle change but do you really want to point everything you ever eat and weigh yourself weekly for the rest of your life?
I would just advise anyone considering it to be careful. You don’t have to have an active eating disorder to have a bad experience with ww
You should switch your app to green you have more daily points you also have weekly points and fit points you can use, when you got your snack you use a zero point snack like apples, or eggs so ww is trying to help make you think of the choices you make, being a healthier choice, looks like you had a very good choices in your food and you have a good weight, and I agree with the intuitive eating but you still need to make a healthier choice can you have a brownie, of course, but not 10 brownies that is where you use the weekly points is for a brownie or something else you might want, one day on ww does not give you a complete picture of the whole program, it is gearing you to make healthy choices and your body will respond and you do not ever have to deprive your self or be hungry on ww it is a tool to teach you how to make the healthy choices and teaches you to eat the healthy whole foods, if you have a weight problem, we is a tool that can help, it’s not a fad diet, that you are deprived of food
Most of the recipes on your website, for example the granolas use no oil and you said in your description of the recipe that it you prefer home granola then store bought granola because it is lower in calories. I was just thinking why would someone like you who preaches no food rules be worried about calories especially when you are naturally slim
Love your review. WW definitely started a cycle of disordered eating and yoyo dieting. Also I never forget, when I was in school for Nutrition I went to a WW location to see if I could get a part time job (because I was on it at the time and thought it would be good experience while I was in school) they said they only hired people who were attending meetings for x amount of time. So they don’t want nutrition professionals working there, just people who have fully drank the artificially sweetened kool-aid. I am included a link about my WW experience and how angry I am about their kurbo program. Love this idea of RD giving honest feedback on these diets https://badassladygang.com/blog/50r7kahwe7npgg7q8bbi220t1mngkp
Thanks so much for sharing Colleen! I love watching your videos because they help me be more grounded and reframe my thoughts that lead to a bad relationship with food and my body!:) Also I love learning about hunger cues and being full or satisfied… because I have not understood that concept for years! I really just want to be healthy and make my body feel good.
I would love to hear your view of Profile by Sanford. I know a lot of people that use this program and I have in the past as well…. It really pushed me over the edge into bad eating disorder habits… and I find it frustrating that this is through Sanford Clinics!
Also, I would love some dinner ideas/recipes…I’m still learning how to cook!
I appreciate you so much!
Congratulations you look Gorgeous!!! I want to Thank you, You helped me within the first few minutes of this video. I just joined yesterday. The weigh in computer was not working properly. I was given 2 books. The weigh in person wrote the date and my weight but he forgot to give me my Daily point budget and my weekly point budget. I have no clue how many daily points or weekly points Im supposed to get? There is no phone number to call, I’ve been on and off WW for many years but I have not checked in in over a year. It is a completely different program from even a year ago. Thank you so much, you helped me plug in the numbers until my next meeting wait it’s called a “ Work shop “ now.LOL. I think you would be an amazing Weight Watchers Leader. You’re inspiring, you really explained the program so well, and you’re so encouraging. I’ve been a Lifetime member since the 1980’s, I’ve seen a lot of WW leaders, I really believe you would be one of the best. I work 12 hour night shifts also. I track my biggest meals at 2-3 AM. I work 7:00pm7:30am. I’m so excited Chik Fil A is in new Dining out book lol. Thanks for explaining and sharing your journey with us.I liked & subscribed.to your Chanel.
Love this! I so relate to everything Colleen said. Anytime I’ve tracked calories, macros, points, etc. it has eventually led to a binge or “out of control” eating. It’s no surprise that listening to your body ALWAYS beats out counting food intake.
I’ve been struggling with weight for a while now, and you’ve convinced me that weight watchers could actually help me. You’ve gained a new subscriber!!
Thanks for the videoyou made a lot good points. But it would have been nice if you took more time to really understand the program before reviewing it.
Loved the video… to be fair, If you exercise you get fit points that you are allowed to eat. My WW is designed for complete beginners who at most times don’t know basic nutrition and aren’t very active. I tried it myself for a month and i will be honest…. it wasnt for me! I completely agree with your points. WW SUPER demonizes a lot of food including fats which generally do make me feel great. I do count carbs and try to stay under 100G but for the most part i am much happier and have a better mindset with food doing things this way
I’m on the purple plan. I love it. I’m losing 2-3 pounds a week since mid January. I’m Vegetarian so the purple plan gives me 300 zero point foods (but I would say about a quarter of them are meat or fish) but because I have so many 0pts I only get 16 points per day, but I can have a whole salad and only count points for the dressing. Potatoes and whole grain pasta are zero points as well so the idea is make the body of your meals with zero point foods and adding point to meals with flavors. I noticed she didnt use the barcode scanner. Helps a lot add food quickly. She also used pb which is high in points but pb2 (the dried pb) is 1pt per serving.
I agree! I did weight watchers at just 16 and then off and on until 22ish… It DESTROYED my relationship with food. It wasn’t until mid 2019 that I began to follow you and others with a similar message and began to finally heal. I’m by no means perfect but I finally feel basically “normal” again around food. It’s amazing for my marriage because we can keep all sorts of junk for him in the house and I don’t have issues with binging it anymore! Now that I’m allowed to have it, it’s not really that appealing.
I over ate EVERYTHING on the free point list before myww came in, as soon as I read about them I knew green was for me, it’s like the olden days! I am so happy and it’s working for me!
Just joined WW. My motivation is to feel/look better and fit into designer clothes. ❤️
Let’s get it ladies!
My question is what happens when you reach your goal weight with WW? Are you forever continuously counting points in your head? Because that doesn’t sound appealing.
are you analyzing the diet as for someone that has to loose weight!
I love the flexibility of . I can use my points for some healthy fats like almonds and avocado.
I would have liked to see her review while doing the WW purple plan instead of blue. Since there are so many more 0 point foods on purple, like yogurt, oatmeal, pasta, rice, chicken, popcorn, etc. I think those foods were a lot of the foods that made her go over her points target. I think that would have been a better plan for her eating habits and maybe she would have not had such a negative relationship with it. Also, she didn’t have a good understanding of weekly points and how they are designed to be eaten within your plan as well as the activity points you earn.
You are not a food addict. My body and mind say “shut up” and eat.
I just started but was only given 23 points:( so far it’s been going well. Hope I’m able to loose at least 30lbs.
Girl….. is it really possible to lose weight and eat Reese’s?
thank you, you explained everything really well. I got motivated to give it a try!!
I’ve lost 7.2lb on since I started a week and a half ago. It’s really helped me understand portion control!
I feel like more research on the programs would have been helpful. You didn’t seek an understanding each plan and what daily/weekly points are, and only tried it for a few days. IMO not an informed review.
Great job explaining WW. I am a newbie and I am really excited
I just found your videos and I like how you go over the blue plan. Great information! Thanks
SO ANGRY WITH YOUR REVIEW!!!!! First of all how can you give an honest review if you didn’t actually read and learn about the program…you just went with what you preconceived and what you half-read. The biggest error you did is that you get fit points so the carbs and fats that are good for you and that your body needs are easily covered by your exercise points these points are to encourage you to exercise. Also the 35 weekly points are to cover other indulgences or special meals or eating out through out the week. The free zero point foods are to encourage fruit and veggies over other foods, which you hardly looked into. As well if you had looked further into the program and researched it, I would assume since you don’t suffer from portion control problems, you exercise regularly, your educated in nutrition, you’re probably not trying to lose weight and you probably don’t over eat unhealthy carbs, the purple plan would be the plan for you. REGARDLESS of what plan you were on if you aren’t trying to lose weight then you should have set your app to “maintenance mode” where by you would have been granted additional points. You cannot truly “try out” a program and give an honest review if: 1) you aren’t an actual person trying to lose weight 2) you aren’t really following it because you didn’t actually read about what you were supposed to do
Your videos is great and relatable. You help me choose my plan wisely. Due to the COVID-19 virus. No meeting at this time.
So basically, you can eat whatever you want, just track it with points and don’t go over your daily allotted amount. Is this right?
I started WW in Jan. of last year and was on it for about 6-7 months. After that I would constantly track my points and calories in my head and knew the calories of every food. I would eat mostly zero point or low point foods, and restrict myself. I wouldn’t eat things like pasta, rice, pizza, oil, candy, cookies, or chocolate. I only used fat free everything (cheese, sour cream, cream cheese, milk, yogurt, whipped cream) and ate powdered peanut butter. WW helped me lose about 50 pounds, but I am struggling with disordered eating now. I finally stopped counting calories back in late January 2020 and started intuitive eating, but it’s hard. Your Instagram posts and YouTube videos have really helped me though. Thank you for that.
I did weight watchers a few years ago, my aunt has been a leader for 15+ years. It was one of the older programs, and I couldn’t get around some of the “free” foods, like diet sodas, which you could have as many as you wanted because they had zero calories.
There were other things, like corn had a ton of points, but cool whip and jello had basically none. It didn’t make sense to me, and your description of “tetris-ing” foods was accurate.
I did lose 40 pounds, but a lot of that was because I also joined a high intensity boot camp, and I skipped meals regularly (single mom of 2 at the time), and I gained it back plus more over the next few years.
The thing with WW for me was I found myself cutting out a lot of foods that I loved, just because they were high in points. The big one was peanut butter! I would always say to myself “ugh, I can’t even eat this because it’s so high in points.” and I love peanut butter. It was weird being obsessed with points rather then what was actually going into my body. Thank you for this review!! It made me feel better about quitting WW.
I love this concept. I just signed up for WW last week and I did purple because it seemed more whole foods focused and that’s how I like to eat. So far it’s been great. I’m breaking out of some unhealthy thought patterns around food and calorie counting. I think they did a good job of working three plans for a lot of different lifestyles. It was well thought out in my opinion.
I’m going to comment as I watch because I know I have a LOT to say about this as someone who is on WW (Green plan). (I tend to write “novels” in here, this will probably be a long one).
WW actually discourages the use of the term “free” foods because it implies that the food is a “free-for-all.” Instead, they say the foods are “zero points”. These are supposed to be the BASE of your diet. My WW leader says that they’re therenot to encourage you to eat more of them, but to eat them MORE.
In the OLD plan that I started with in 2009, a banana and 100 calorie pack of cookies would each cost me 2 points. Now, the cookies might cost me 4 while the banana is 0. I am free to eat whatever I want, but the hope is that most of the time, people will reach for the banana over the cookies. The 0 point food list consists of foods that are generally less likely to be abused and have protein, fiber, and/or other micronutrients that should help keep you satiated. On Green, that means that my 0 point food list includes most fruits and vegetables. For dinner tonight, I’m planning on having chicken or pork with air fried vegetables. I’ll probably spend about 6 points on my meat, a point on olive oil for a bit of fat on the vegetables, and the vegetables (which will take up the majority of the plate) will clock in at 0.
Green 0 Point Food List: Fruits and vegetables (excluding peas, corn, potatoes, parsnips, plantains, avocado, and olives)
Blue 0 Point Food List: Above plus peas, corn, beans/legumes, chicken/turkey breast, seafood, eggs, fat-free plain yogurt.
Purple 0 Point Food list: Above plus potatoes, whole grain pasta, bean/lentil pastas, brown rice, quinoa, farro, oats etc.
So, a dinner of chicken breast, brown rice, steamed broccoli, and butter might cost 7/30 points on Green (counting everything except the broccoli); 5/23 on Blue (not counting broccoli and chicken), and 2/16 on Purple (not counting broccoli, chicken, or rice; only counting butter).
I generally don’t eat low-fat foods. If I need to, I have my weekly allowance. The 23 points you got is generally the base amount you need for the day, but if you’re eating a lot of chicken, eggs, beans, etc you’re probably ok if you don’t hit that target. The weekly allowance can be used if you’re feeling a little hungrier or if you just need the points for a little something extra. The weekly allowance is built into the plan (you have 35 based on your weight, age, height, and gender). Weeklies are there to be used if you need them. (You can also swap out FitPoints if it works for you; some people discourage it. Personally, I will allow it if I use all of my weeklies).
If you don’t eat all of your daily points, you can roll over up to 4 per day. I actually really like that part of the plan. If I know I have an event on Saturday, I can eat a little lighter a few days before. Over the course of the week, things end up balancing out. Those rollovers are ADDED to the weekly allowance. The weeklies and rollovers combined are WW’s way of acknowledging that some days you might need to eat more or less than others. Between workouts, events, hormones, being sick, being busy, or just being more/less hungry one day, it’s not realistic to eat 23 points every single day. Some days, you might need to eat more. Other days, you might need to eat less
It does take time to adjust to learning the plan. During the first few days or even first couple of weeks, it’s more about learning what foods work for you, etc.
Obviously, you have every right to your opinion, but I can’t help wondering if you already had a bit of a bias coming into this as someone who is strongly believes in no food rules and anti-diet culture andand simply not fully understanding all of the aspects of the program (I’m happy to answer any questions if you still want to understand more. I have been petty successful on the plan even while eating things like avocado, peanut butter, full-fat dairy, olives, etc on a regular basis).
Hiiii:) when did you start noticing weight loss physically when you started in WW?
I’m going from Sw to ww starting ww tonight but I’m worried I’m not going to take to it, just need a change from Sw. I have a lot to loose so I suppose any change will help
Omg get to the point!! All of these videos not just her but they go on and on in these long introductions five minutes wasted over small talk. She seems very nice and videos are helpful but all of these Videos on YouTube in beginning only no need for all the chit chat
So is it just me or the way she said Reese’s made you low key mad lol Good job tho keep it up
Hi Gemma, another fab video. Love watching them as you give lots of good tips. I’m on my second week of ww now and lost 6lbs in my first week keep up the good work and I’m already looking forward to the next video xx
I agree the big complaint is complex carbs. I would have been happy with sweet potatoes being a zero point food. That said it is easy to build a meal around them.
From the moment my eyes opened in the morning I would become obsessed with my points. I would do weird diet calculus and bargain with myself on what I would allow myself to eat. Even though WW tries to encourage you to eat more healthy, my addictive brain would convince me to eat lower point junk.
I am not on WW but your videos on this topic are very informative. Very interesting!! Would motivate anyone to loose weight!! Keep up the good work
hello how are you good Justyn journey good you are beautiful and gorgeous love you and good execrise love from me l am jefferey love you
I’ve had the same issues. It worked but I felt so frustrated on stressful days as I was always counting (which is sooo time consuming and makes everything even more stressful). Also in days where I’ve been super active (half-Marathon) I’d feel exhausted and light headed with the restricted food choices. And when I stopped the weight would come back.
I’ve tried WW in the past. I would strictly stick with it 1-2 weeks. Then, I would stop because I was so hungry all the time that I would binge eat everything in my sight. It was challenging having to count points and meal plan all the time. I felt horrible if I went just 1 point over my target daily points. I know WW has worked wonderfully for others, and I’m happy that it works for others, but it wasn’t a good fit for me. I’ve tried counting calories as well but that can get to being a chore as well. I would focus so much on the numbers and not enough on what I was actually putting in my body for nourishment. Thank you for this video!
The point is to lose weight. Yes, your meals are healthful choices, but no one is going to lose weight on them. Also, it can’t work if you don’t plan.
I’m SO glad I came across this video! I just joined last night and I had so many questions and wondered how the workshops worked and now u motivated me to join the workshops. I wish I did the referral tho. Imma add u on connect
You should have logged your workout so you got fit points, that would have counted for many of those extra 13 points that you used and then only a couple would have been taken from your weekly points. Weekly points are just an extra bank of points to use as you see fit over the week. For instance some people use all their weeklies for one cheat day a week. Other people, like me, divide the points out per day. I get 42 weekly points so I divide them by 7 days and give myself an extra 6 points per day.
I’m a WW lifetime member WW isn’t perfect by any means, but I do want to point out that as a person already at a healthy weight, you would have been assigned more points than you ate that day. Also, you are able to add points for the running that you did I did the math and with those two additions, your 36 points was probably spot on!
REVIEW FAIL,, Sorry but you weren’t using the app right!
Your review was WAAAY off because you weren’t aware of a very important point tool called the ACTIVITY TRACKER which gives you additional points for exercising since people have different levels of activity. You didn’t spend adequate time to become familiar with the app so you didn’t know about it. WW So let’s say you run 3 miles per day, you would have a lot more points each day.
To do a fair review, it might have been better to do it for at least 3 days and take time to really understand the app. By then you would have learned about the activity tracker and bonus exercise points. Since you weren’t aware of the activity points, you’re review wasn’t really accurate.
Thank you, very nice explanation. Can you explain about how one on one coaching
I’m kind of confused by so many WW people online talking about having trouble eating all of their daily points. Where are the true fatties!? lol:o
I eat all of my 30 (green) points and even use my weeklies. Isn’t WW about not depriving yourself? I’m scared now I will stop losing weight seeing how many of you can’t eat all your points, avoid carbs, and don’t use the weeklies…:/
Green all the way for me. I love eggs, chicken breast and salmon but not every day. Green gives more flexibility and the zero point foods on blue and purple are not high in points on green anyway.
A one day experience is insufficient. I’ve lost 37 pounds. Most importantly, I’ve broken my binge eating cycle and learned how to
make better choices.
Hi Colleen! Thanks for this review. Sounds exactly like ‘Slimming World’ which is what I did for over a year. It ruined my relationship with food. They claim to not be a diet, but to be a ‘lifestyle change’. They also say they don’t count points, but you do have a small ‘bad food’ allowance everyday, which are called ‘SYNS’! Talk about demonising food choices! Been living with no food rules for over a month now and loving how I feel. Enjoying foods and finally know what it feels like to not just be swinging back and forth on the hunger scale from one extreme to the next. If you have heard of Slimming World a review on it would be great just to validate my thoughts.
4 stones was that what I heard?!? That’s like 56 pounds!!!! Amazing!
When I first rejoined, I took the quiz thingy and it recommended blue but I knew pretty much straight away that it was not a good fit for me because I’m not a big fan of chicken breast and neither is my family. They don’t really like beans either lol. So I was basically eating fewer points but not eating any of the zero point foods, because I refuse to cook different meals for different people, so of course felt super deprived. None of us like wholegrain rice or pasta so purple wouldn’t have worked either. When I switched to green my soul breathed a sigh of relief, those extra 7 points made a HUGE difference to my satisfaction. And if I choose to have chicken breasts or eggs or whatever’s free on blue, it’s no biggy as they’re pretty low points anyway. I basically just want to eat what I want haha! I don’t mind adjusting how much but I’m so over any healthy eating plan telling me WHAT to eat! Having said that, tracking everything could be a pain, but I’ve noticed that a lot of dishes I cook only have a few pointed components, most of which I know the points by heart as I use them all the time anyway (like oil, beef mince, chicken thighs etc), the rest is usually veggies. E.g. I made a lentil dal tonight and all I needed to point were the lentils, rice and oil. Everything else was zero point veggies. I also intermittent fast so I have a small breakfast type meal like fruit & yogurt around 2pm and spend a good 20-22 points on a big hearty dinner with a 5 point treat and coffee for afters, so having fewer meals to point also makes the green plan easier. It’s worked amazingly well for me!
Thank you for posting this. For so long I felt WW was the only way. In the last couple months I have been trying to focus on intuitive eating and stopping myself from having food rules. I loved what you said about being full vs being satisfied. I was so tired of being in the cycle of being on WW and getting off and binge eating. I felt there has to be more to life. I was missing out on going out with friends (when we could actually leave the house) because I needed to save points for a different event later in the week. I will finally be able to not stress out about an unplanned meal out. Please keep the videos coming.
I have been overweight my whole life. My first time with WW was as a kid. It was never successful for me. As an adult I did like the points because I could eat normal foods, but if I wanted something complicated I couldn’t be bothered to figure out the points. I always wanted spaghetti, but I had to figure out the meat, the noodles, the sauce…that I never would eat it because it was too hard to figure out. I’m still new in the intuitive eating but I think it makes the most sense….
Thank you so much for this video!!! I just started weight watchers and went on YouTube to see if there was any video advice but instead I found a fellow sista to follow!
I tried the green when it first came out and was so excited as it was more like the weight watchers I remembered from years ago and loved so thought it would work for me. After only a few days I swapped back to blue. I think if I had been just starting green would have been best for me but as I had done ww for the last year I had adapted the way I eat to fit in with what was now the blue. I usually make a big pan of veg soup that dos me 3 or 4 days for lunch on blue its 0 so I can have some crusty bread with it but on green because of the beans and I think turnip I put in the soup add points same if I had had something quite high in points or was going out in the evening I would use chicken breast with veg or salad to make a main meal with just a small amount of potato or rice but on green the chicken had points. I just found it too hard to start over so easier to stick with what I had got used to.
Just found u and oh wow struggling my brain is with slimming world I’m new to ww and on I have 4st to lose however want to get to 2st and see how I feel ( if honest I don’t belive i can do it as didnt lose on sw ) I have followed u Instagram and the ww app hoping i will learn loads. I’m bulk watching your videos ♥️
The purple plan has whole grains, veggies, fruit, lean proteins, and some dairy are all zero points. WW also promotes mindfulness while eating. You will undereat if you do not dip into roll over points, weekly points, or fit points. With these other points which it did not seem like you fully explored, you can be satiated. I think you need to try these plans for a week or so. Attend a meeting so the plan can be explained fully to you.
Yay!! Love green. I struggled and ultimately gained 20 pounds on Freestyle after having lost 55 on the previous plan. I am over the moon happy to have options now! Green fits my life so so good! And I thrive on the boundaries that this plan gives.
Where are all the Green lovers at? Let me know what you think about the green plan, I wanna hear what you like, what you don’t like and also if you’re thinking about trying it. It is the plan I lean more toward whenever I consider switching from blue. I like the abundance of dailies and the “less grey area” aspect x
I’m doing green, was nearly at goal weight in 2017 but flex then come out and all went pear shaped for me, couldn’t get my head round it so I’m glad it’s back ❤️
If I ate all that I think I would definitely gain weight. WW is for losing and you have to try and make a lifestyle change for it to work, not just do what you were already doing. I appreciate this but dont find it totally helpful. It’s true carbs are good for you but you can’t eat a lot of them if you are trying to lose weight which is not really what you are doing with this diet you had! If you like eating more carbs you should mention you can switch plans that allow for more points and different 0 calorie foods!
I do not feel you get it at all-you didn’t log your run, understand the weekly points or the fact that people usually do this when needing loss of weight.
Just curious to what plan you chose! Did you just do the basic tracking plan, or did you do the virtual plan?
Want to be successful not being morbidly obese???!!! STOP EATING LIKE SOME UNCULTURED IGNORANT AMERICAN!!!!!!!!!
I just rejoined weight watchers n for some reason the quiz matched me to green… Very disappointed as I wanted to do blue as I thought that was closest to the previous plan i done… Should i try green or how do i switch it to blue?? Don’t know what to do x
Hi Gemma, I followed WW years ago when points from exercise counted towards your total point allowance. Is that not the case anymore? What are the fit points for? Do they count for anything? Thanks x
I started the Green plan last week and have lost 1.6kgs already. I tried WW last year but cancelled because it just didn’t work for me. I love salmon, eggs and chicken but I want to have more flexibility. On the blue I would eat those things every day but now I eat far more diverse and I even have points left over at the end of the day!
Love ur videos, i started ww on monday and loving it i start studio tomorrow and am really nervous xx
I have tried all three plans. I am currently on . What I found is that I am using my points for more processed foods, which is not what I want. I have been an advocate for eating whole foods for years. I weigh in on Saturday and plan on changing. When I did the assessment, it suggested , but I haven’t decided yet. does seem to be the middle ground.
Thank you for doing a comparison. This has prompted me to look at the pros and cons of and . One of the reason I like your videos is that you don’t use a lot of processed foods. Thanks again.
Hope you all found this useful and don’t forget to share any pros and cons you have! Will be uploading this type of video for both the Green and Purple plan so stay tuned x
