Dead on answer Lee. It’s very dependent on how much weight someone loses and also a hefty dose of genetics. My wife gained 60 pounds with our first baby and and her normally 25″ waist was humongous. Afterwards she lost the 60 pounds, went back down to her 25″ waist and never even had a stretch mark. There’s no sign that she ever even had a baby. On the other hand, I know people who lost less weight and ended up with loose skin even on their forearms. After a certain point surgery is the only real solution, but there’s also a strong genetic component involved.
I am only halfway through my weight loss journey and already have loose flabby skin I find it really hard to deal with and it makes me feel really uncomfortable however I do not regret losing and I still feel better about my body and overall health than before.

So basically you covered up your loose skin to look good when you take pictures….. There alot of people making these videos and I’m annoyed that some folks like us (I lost 170 pounds) can’t be honest when taking pictures. But maybe it took you (and others) some time to be ok with having loose skin.

I have a hundred pounds exactly to lose…. I am doing ISAGENIX…. good stuff… so if I replace with good healthy things, drink lots of water, and invest in a skin exfoliating scrub…. (like loofa only a scrub) I should be ok without having my skin look horrid? That is a huge load off my mind. I did do a massive amount of cardio every day and I drank a lot of water. That really helps. I think these “shake diets” aren’t good for avoiding loose skin though. People that I know that did them have loose skin.
Thank you for being realistic about saggy skin. I had my son when i was 22 ( so it wasn’t an age thing) hydrated inside and out, ate clean, gained the exact amount i was supposed to, i did everything to prevent saggy skin that i could. BUT i couldnt fight the stretch marks..or the saging belly. It literally looks like a deflated balloon 14! years later. Things that have helped…dry brushing, going vegan (probably due to the amount of berries im eating) and exfoliation. But the number one thing that has helped..Just accepting it, it is what it is. Im a redhead, my skin is beautiful, but delicate.

Everything you say in this video is spot on. I lost 30 kgs 6 years ago and kept my self fit since. I am 51 years old now and my loose skin is still getting better but is not perfect ( very similar to yours) so it is something I will have to live with.
But there are a few things you can do to help. Dry rubbing with a hard bath brush or a luffa sponge is good for peeling off the old skin for example and talking a collagen powder is a way to help your skins elasticity. Don’t expect wonders but over time you do see an improvement

Mmmm I am 5’9 and when I was 16 went from 280 lb to 150 in a year without any loose skin, i made a bad choice about 3 years ago and started a relationship with a sedentary girl Who loved sweets and fast food, i ended up weighing 300 lb Last year at 27 years old wich for a 5’9 guy is a lot, now I am at 184 lb without any loose skin, i think loose skin depends on genétics and how distributed it’s on your body and yes loosing the fat too son, in my case when I got to 300 lb I had a big gut, arms, legs, ass everything except for my hands and feet and I used cardio and low carb diet to get to about 200 lb once I got there I started lifting some weights and doing ab training but nothing crazy and added more protein to my diet to slow down the weight loss a little bit I am 184 lb right now after 1 year I plan to take at least 6 months to get to 170 wich is were I will stay at for a few years and slowly get to 160 without stressing out. If you wanna avoid loose skin I would say take at least a year and a half to shed about 3/4 of the excess weight, let’s say you are 350 lb go hard on the diet and the cardio until you get to about 220 lb, once you get there introduce some weight lifting and more protein in your diet to slow down the process of shedding the fat of a little bit. And don’t try to get like súper skinny all at once, get to a point to where you are like 190 lb and from there go really slow until you get to your goal weight, please never go balls to the walls loose skin is horrible my brother had to have surgery Last year because he dropped 200 lb without listening to any expert.

isn’t this true? if you lose 100 pounds in 3 years you won’t have loose skin, but if you lose it in 6 months and keep the lost weight off for 3 years, your skin will look the same, your skin would have enough time to contract, it contracts at a constant rate regardless you lose weight fast or slow

I think the main factor on if you’re going to have loose skin is how big you are and where you hold weight most. I’ve been on my journey for almost 6 months and ive lost 78 pounds. But I was 326 when I started and I’m now 247. I was big as shit and would eat only junk food everyday. I did a 180 and I dont touch any junk food. I eat keto and plan to stay this way forever. I throw in intermittent fasting on certain days. I’ve noticed it takes away inflammation and makes the body tighten up good. Also exercise is important!

It’s not necessarily about losing weight it’s about losing fat and gaining muscle. The problem with those that last weight fast and now have lose skin, is that they lost fat, and muscle and water weight quickly. They needed to lose fat and gain muscle and eat a healthy diet that includes good high fats. Such as the Keto diet.

However, I agree with this man. If loose skin was the side effect of losing all my weight that I had gained and it was a question between being overweight or having loose skin, I would choose loose skin. Every time.

I’ve heard that consuming less protein as you lose weight also helps to “eat” the lose skin. Your body will consume skin for protein.

I used to be a personal trainer and aerobic instructor…got m.e 20 yrs ago… put on around 6 stone.
Since finding a mind/body different way of being (maybe u think I’m nuts and that’s fine) I’ve so easily lost about 4 stone. And noticed some loose skin flapping around.
I want to thank u because I saw 1 other video which advocated a gazillion different ‘techniques’ that would take tons of time and money… and having listened to u I’m thinking, drink when I’m thirsty, move lots, slap some bio oil and rub it in and choose to accept my body as part of ”me”. There’s way more wonderful things to focus on than a flabby tummy/knees/back/arms etc.
Rather than focus on ”losing” anything, im gaining so much joy in life!

Well…I am still losing those last pounds this summer, and I have to wait and see what it all looks like in the end. I would like to be able to afford surgery to take care of things that are out of my control after I have done all I can, but it is very expensive and not an option for me at this time. It still beats being overweight any day, though.

I can’t remember if it was you who posted a video up or somebody else, touching on the subject of loose skin, and they mentioned that it shouldn’t matter. As long as you’re achieving your goal in losing weight, getting fit, achieving the healthiest and best figure you can, the skin that stays there is a part of that journey. By that point nobody will even be bothered at looking at the extra skin, and you in yourself will have already gone beyond that point of “the extra skin”. I can’t remember if it was you or another blokes channel on a similar journey, nonetheless great work. I have always been a yo-yo in my weight, around 120-90kgs. Since 2012 i have above 105kgs. I’m still on a journey, but the discipline since November last year I haven’t slacked. You are an inspiration mate. Keep it up. Off the record, I am 32 years old, so it’s going to be harder for me, but I’ve been getting that buzz, that rush when working out, like I used to back when I was 21 into my teens. Cheers!

My understanding is that loose skin is more of a danger during weight loss if you just diet and don’t to *weight training* to tone yourself up. forget the haters. I followed your advice of keto with intermittent fasting and lost 3 pounds yesterday lol. I also went swimming and kayaking in one day though.
My diet consist of
Only water when it comes to drinks
Baby spinach Chief salads (rarely add tuna salad to it but only a hand full)
And once a week i eat meat with a side salad.
When i wake up i make a vinegar drink
12 to 16 oz of water
2 to 4 tablespoons of vinegar
1 lemon sliced in half, that is only a morning drink though.
A lot of comments are “can’t you just get surgery?” Or “just get surgery.. problem solved…” However that’s not the point of this video. I never said I need nor want surgery. I didn’t think I had to mention it in the video, because the “fix” is accepting it, and knowing your are healthier with it instead of being obese. Of course it can be removed… but that is also extremely expensive, something insurance does not cover. It also comes with the risk of complications, and having to do multiple surgeries, leading to months of downtime.
It’s because you’re young. But I still enjoy your videos for inspiration. You look like you could be my daughter. What a great accomplishment to have naturally lost all of the weight! You’re awesome.

I will disagree with you on the loose skin. It’s not just a cosmetic fear it’s a pain fear as well. Having loose skin hurts. It make’s it harder to exercise and move. Imagine if your whole body was a sagging boob. It hurts! It’s easier to be fat then to have 50 bounds of loose skin just hanging there because no doctor will help you get rid of it because “Cosmetic”

There is quite a lot of recent evidence that fast weight loss can be better for losing weight because you are more motivated as you see the results more quickly. Also the plans out there that allow for 600-800 calories a day (eg Cambridge) are packed with nutrients. The other unusual result of fast weight loss plans like this is that people kept the weight off for 1year plus this wasn’t expected because it is quite common to think fast weight loss means you just put it back on again but you don’t. So, on the downside, this may mean some loose skin but I reckon that the skin will catch up in time as it is a living organ and just needs more time. It may come down to a choice what do you want fast and effective results that last, or a slow weight loss that will minimise loose skin but you may just give up because the results are so slow coming.

cardio and stretching are more important.
push-ups, pull-ups, and dumbbell military press is enough for the upper body. do a ton of reps with low to mid weights and you’ll look AMAZING with lots of cardio. just adjust your calories/protein for your needs.

Okay sooooo I was 386 when I started I am at 374 after 2 and a half weeks. I love the progress already. My goal weight is 260. And I am worried about loose skin. I have been told that since I am so big I will loose weight at a faster rate..
I lost 80lbs in my 40s and No loose skin. One month before I started my diet and exercise program I started taking collagen daily three times a day. Then as I dropped pounds I began adding BCAA before bed along with my collagen and my skin is as tight as it was when I was in my 20s. I also had nasty cellulite all over my thighs and buttocks and ALL of it went away with my weight loss (yes even men can get cellulite).
What helps you is that you’re tall, 6 feet tall and my actual weight is 280. I wanna loose from 60 to 80 pounds man and I’m scared on that.

Well I can tell you if I had to do it all over again my first priority in life would be not to gain weight and to protect my health. I would have done this in my twenties. Eating bad and gaining weight just destroys your body and health. I don’t care how much you try to eat healthy and workout once you become obese the damage is done most of the time permanently. I try to do everything lift weights, eat a WFPB diet and run, however I still have lose skin, collections of fat here and there. The worse thing is the stretch marks. I have been following a healthy life style for years and everything is still a mess!

What’s happens if your not a teen yet do you have to worry? I’m trying to loose weight..
I have a cousin who’s obese and she lost over 100 once (she was still obese but that’s still a lot of weight to lose) so she was starting to get a lot of loose skin and she was saying she almost preferred her body before bc she felt “empty” now and idk that’s so sad.

I would not assume that older people don’t want to lose weight, because they are too old. I’m 58, will be 59 in September. I was 286lbs/175.087kg, and I started to lose weight last December, and now I am 215lbs/97.5224. It’s offensive to suggest that old people don’t want to lose weight.
