I had this surgery 1 year ago, i’m in pain all days, even my quad hurt and harmstring. I feel like burining sensation. Plus, they removed 80% of the meniscus so basicaly, my knee is fucked up, won t be able to walk pain free or run. I was an avid runner and martial art competitor. I’m only 27 and i can really say that this surgery fucked my life. I’m in major chronic pain and nowone wanna help me. Probably, i have a nerve injured (saphenous nerve) plus no more meniscus left. 2 problems due to this stupid 30 min surgery. I can’t work anymore or even walk, i have dark thoughts. I’m so tired. Avoid this damn surgery guys, if possible.
Let me explain something: Workmans comp or Joe milli nobody should ever be thru this in one week and back to What a joke
I will be having Arthroscopic surgery in January 2020; I’m looking forward to being pain-free. In the meantime, I’ve been introduced to kinesiology tape to provide interim support for my kneecap, and also helps minimize the pain.
On the waiting list here in New Zealand Wednesday 28th August..both knees need to be done through age and I’m 46 but have struggled for the last 10 years in pain and working with torn meniscus so cant wait have this fixed.
What are the completions because I have a cyst after the surgery and I do have stiffness after I sleep. I am having an MRI. I WANT TO SEE A DIFFERENT DOCTOR.
Just done mine on 5/22/20 had two tears in my right knee the first 24 hrs after surgery was good but as soon as the nerve block wore off wow the pain is worse then my total hip replacement was I sure hope that this works.
I am scheduled for surgery on March 2, 2020, I am terrified!!
when he was explaining how it would feel like if you tore your meniscus, all those things happened but it never phased me because I’m in high school band and soccer so I thought I was giving my knee a hard time but I went to the doctor they said nothing. Went to the E.R they said I could’ve tore something but they said to go to a knee specialist and gave me crutches and a brace. Went to the specialist they also said the same thing but go do a MRI just in case but don’t use the crutches or brace because it wouldn’t help it I did tore the meniscus. Next day did the MRI and the day after my mom and I was dropping off snacks at this house for a band trip in two days and my mom had a call and it was my knee specialist and he said I did tore my meniscus and I would have surgery. So next week on Thursday November 7th 2019 I would have surgery sadly my last prep rally and band marching show for this year that day.
So your telling me Sitting criss cross and leaning back and tearing a meniscus isn’t normal
I’m going for my third arthroscopic soon. Second on my right knee. Pain has been the same for all three injuries. Different scenarios that caused these injuries. Trust my doctor very much.
I will be havin this surgery soon
My knee has been hurtin for 3 months straight. I knew something wasn’t rite in there. This video helped ease my mind of what’s to. Thank you
I was in a car accident I was hit by a semi truck and was pinned in, my knees got crushed and I had a torn meniscus on my left knee. 3 1/2 months later and I’m still in a lot of pain, sometimes I can’t even get out of bed because it’s so painful!! Something is still wrong it shouldn’t be this painful almost 4 months after surgery.
Hello sir, My MRI report shows that high signal intensity in T2 and PDFS Sequences involving the posterior horn of lateral meniscus in a combination of horizontal, longitudinal and radial type….S/OComplex tear. How do I treat this? Can it be repairable?
I wish I didn’t watch this…I’m having this done soon. Not thrilled
Torn my meniscus and ACL playing basketball scared to get surgery for the first time ☹️
I had done today, very painful. Having 5 children, it’s hard to relax so I stayed away sleeping off that stuff that puts you to sleep. Returning home in morning and nervous
Gosh im only 13 and mine tore and fell into the joint area. I dont know how mine compares to the rest
Hlo sir,my MRI scan report is
1.partial left ACL tear
2.grade 3 meniscal tear in the posterior horn of left lateral meniscus.
What can I do sir…?
i tore both my meniscus, just had my right knee done. i could’ve prolonged the surgery it didn’t hurt to bad but i play sports so i wanna keep playing.
i am waiting for surgery, i am scared, can i do my gyms after it
May 3 2018 just got a meniscus fix everything look good just feeling pain and numbness but is to soon I guess but other than that Great Doctor Rust.Thank you so much I just want to be normal and go back to my job.
This is not a meniscal repair. This is a partial menisectomy, which is much more common in older patients. Younger patients with meniscal tears have them repairs with either suture anchors or suture tape, depending on the type and location of the tear.
Very useful video! Thank you for that. Hmm i dont know about the others but i had my arthroscopy done 4 days ago and i still can’t jump, knee is a bit swollen, walking up and down the stairs placing one foot after another. Looks like gonna take me longer than that.
Workman’s comp is for poor people who are too poor to pay for this surgery. They are too lazy and do not want to work like rich people. That’s why they tend to stay out of work longer than rich and educated people because they are getting free money. I personally think poor people should not get this surgery if they cannot afford it like people with money can. They should be forced to work through it because they are lazy and poor.
I have had this done twice. The recovery for me was 2 weeks. Sadly will not be the last one i have. I have Degenerative Osteoarthritis. Were just buying time till my Insurance says Okay for a Knee Replacement. Witch they are dragging there feet about.
My knees are killin me right now and keep poppin out of place. I had my right one done it hurts more now and i also need my other knee done but i am worried its going to get worse.
Hello doctor i have an miniscus operation and the doctor has removed it crommy leg Can i play sports without it or will it grow up again please answer
I learned so much, I have a torn Meniscus since March 16, 2019. I recently found out I have mod/severe Osteoarthritis with no cartilage on certain parts of the bone in my inner left knee. I also have a leaking baker’s cyst. I would guess mine is Irreparable perhaps. This is my second meniscus tear since Aug. 2004. Based on what I posted what do you think might my tear be a irreparable or reparable?
I’ve just gotten my right knee done I’m 16 I got my left knee done when I was 7 I tore my meniscus on my left leg while play soccer and got kicked and my right knee I fell on it at in angle I’m not a light guy tbh im 198 and i think I weighed more when i got hurt and I went to the gym while my meniscus was tore I don’t know why I knew I was hurt and I told my mom and said try to walk it off but i know the pain and I knew it was bad because my meniscus was so torn that my knee would lock out of place while I was asleep or If I would move just my leg to the right or left honestly I was fucking scared for this surgery because when I was 7 this shit hurt like hell and therapy omg worst pain of my life I felt like a a tight wire stretching and I didn’t fully recover until like 3 or 4 years later and I stopped playing soccer and I was on morphine when I got my left knee done I was born with discoid meniscus on both of my legs
Couple of question all. After the op wont ur femur bone start touching the lower bone? Also does ur knee wobble a bit here op has happened? I suppose in long run arthritis will come to you earlier?
I had the surgery at the end of January and my whole left knee hurts plus I still can’t walk and there is a cyst in the knee now what do I do. I’m having a MRI done to get a better look at the knee.
IDK I’ve seen a few videos now where they stitched the meniscus on the inside (white zone). Partial meniscectomy sounds bad.
Thank you to my Doctor for treating me & performing the surgery on my left knee from my torn meniscus.
God thank you, I cried God the whole time until that day of my surgery.

Easy surgery couple days with a Walker and a cane for a couple weeks. Back to work in a month
Your comments about Workers Comp. patients was absolutely a ridiculous unfounded stereo-type. Just do the operation and leave the healing to the patient.
I am having this surgery on December 11th and I am soo nervous.
Recovery time is more than a few days. I have had 2 surgeries and about to have a third. Usually around 6 weeks off of work give or take a week. And for the first few days you are supposed to keep your leg elevated and start physio. I don’t know how people would go to work after 2 days. The risk of blood clots and infections is so high right after any surgery. My first surgery was a breeze but my second one (other knee) was terrible, I had so much pain.I have had problems ever since which is why I am going for another.
I wonder if this is considered an elective surgery and they are postponing until this virus slows down?
Workers compensation has guidelines that require minimum, light duty with restrictions or full work. Workers comp will NOT require full work 3 days after surgery in fear of recurrence. After repair there is physical therapy which is usually 4-6 weeks. Once physical therapy is completed patients must return to IME for diagnosis. If your job is sitting on your behind and judging others then perhaps you can return to work within 3 hours (sarcastically), however most patients have safety sensitive positions that allow for proper recovery time within workers compensation guidelines. The LAST thing any insurance company wants is to further damage its patient post surgery. Dont rush yourself…heal yourself. Usually after any surgery arthritis follows and that’s another story for another time.
I work I in home health, inner urban city climbing stairs, carrying heavy hospital equipment for long blocks and walking long distances carrying my medical gear. Do you feel 3 days after surgery I’ll be back out in the field? I have recent Dx of RA, pretty healthy. 52 yrs old female.
I am scared to do the surgery hv been suffering from it since 6 years, it hurts now so bad –
I can’t believe that people go home a few hours after this surgery, I stayed in hospital for 6 days:(
getting this surgery in 16 days. super scared! it was from a snowboarding accident. wish my luck:(((
Just had my torn meniscus repaired, and it freaking hurts like a mofo
Brilliant doc,I am recommended surgery but wanted more time to think but this is excellent!
im having my left knee done next week. very informative video. one problem i am having is, i cant drive my car. i have a stick shift. anyone know how long it will take after surgery before i can use the clutch
I just had an acl and meniscus repair reconstruction 7 days ago. Right after surgery I wanted to go back to work I was so into the anesthesia and the pain block on my knee that I felt nothing happened. 5 days after surgery I still doing fine and want to go back to work however the knee brace is uncomfortable. I been playinsnsoccer for the past 20 years and I’m 30 now and my main goal is to go back to playing soccer and running marathon. Recovery hurts but is better then walking with an injured leg
Just had this done yesterday. Taranaki NZ. Feeling better today. Just cant bend yet. Looking onward and up
Am Dar es Salaam Tanzania and my Right knee leg disturbing me a lot need help please
Just take care of self. This will only weaken youfor end days
Had this surgery 2 weeks ago and my knee feels great now. My doctor’s were wonderful and the knee is recovering well!!!!
This is a joke, right? Up and walking within a week of a repair? I’ve had this procedure once on each leg, unfortunately. It was 6 weeks of crutches to ensure the meniscus doesn’t retear or have any complications. While not a medical expert myself, I feel like this kind of treatment is reckless.
ive just had an op for quite a severe medial meniscus tear. Luckily im 18, fit and healthy, and my surgeon decided to stitch the meniscus instead of take it out. However, my recovery is quite lengthy… I have 2 weeks with a leg brace and crutches, then 4 weeks with just crutches. Pain has been manageable but keeping a positive mental attitude has been hard. From being an active sports person, not being able to go back for 3 MONTHS, is very hard for me.
what they said about to came back to work on a few days is completely false, it depends on what kind of job you have, I had a surgery 15 years ago and I was out of work 4 months, I work at supermarket doing stock at night we do movements like foot boll players, you can’t do this kind of job after a few days of surgery, and now I am getting ready for my next surgery I am injury again!!
I’m scared I might havrto have that. How long is the surgery and I heard your awake during it?
So if it isn’t a workmans comp thing they try to keep them but if it is aworkmans comp thing they try to get them out an hour later? Nice to know.
I’m having this done Tuesday. I’m nervous but, ready for the pain to go away
Just had this surgery on an medial meniscus tear on left knee. (I am a 67 yr old woman in good health.) After trying physical therapy without much success, I agreed to arthroscopic surgery. As my appointment date approached, I was more worried about contracting an infection than the surgery itself! And, their were a lot of protections in place since this took place during the COVID pandemic. I had very little reaction to the general anesthesia but felt groggy the rest of the day. Less than 24 hours after surgery, I’m able to walk (carefully and slowly) without crutches. I haven’t felt the level of pain that would require the meds I was prescribed, but not sure if that will change when all the surgery med wear off. This video was really informative and would have benefitted from watching it before my surgery. I wish those who will be having or have had this procedure done the best and a complete recovery! Thank you for producing this video!
the last thing i would give a fuck about is going back to work 2 days after i get my knees drilled out…
I know they are removing the torn or damaged part but I have seen where they stich up the tare during surgery for a torn meniscus
This has been the best video I’ve seen on the medial meniscus repair surgery. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I had an MRI this week and I have a tear in my medial meniscus and will be seeing the surgeon on January 25th for the first time to see what he thinks. I feel much less in the dark as I prepare to see him now. Keep up the good work and may God richly bless you! Pastor Jim Moore Titusville, PA
Great video! I just had my surgery 11/30/18. I see all the negativity about Workman’s Comp…. They are correct. You only get in Ohio 72% of your pay at your injury date for 12 weeks and 67% after that. Everyone can’t afford to lose that income especially if you have bills to pay. Also, everyone cannot go back to work quickly due to strenuous work. I work in a Correctional setting and if I go back too soon and have a USE OF FORCE or run to hostile situation…. I could re-injure it and be messed up. So people quick being so sensitive and mean. People should follow their doctors instructions and go back when they are ready. By the way, DR THOMAS COOK in Dayton Ohio of Orthopedics Associates of Dayton. Awesome Dr’s in their practice.
When should a person who had went through meniscus REPAIR ( with stitches) return to weight bearing, bike riding? Swimming? And when should they start physical therapy
I had meniscus repair ( bucket handle tear stitched back together) it has been 7weeks I can’t do any weight bearing without pain and swelling returning and I can only bend my knee 90 degrees nothing more without pain.
I have grade 2 tear of anterior horn of lateral miniscus left leg…when i m walk i have no pain but i m dance teachar when i m doing dance i have sharp pain….plz suggest
I also had bt discomfort is there in kneee unable to walk properlyyyy y like thattt
This will be my third surgery on the same knee and then possibly two Periacetabular Osteotemy’s (i believe) on my hips. Gonna be a long road of recovery ahead for me. Im only 19. Im tired of living “carefully” aha
Expecting to be on list this December, God bless all doctors.
i had my meniscus repaired last week and every move i make im scared im gonna retear it and not know i did because of the swelling and normal pain from incisions. i can bend my knee a little but it just worries me
I want to get my knee scoped because my MRI didn’t show any tears but I think differently. I work construction and there is no light duty on my job
Had a medial tear fixed on 12/27 hurts and very sore but I don’t want PT so been watching youtube PT. I think its going well and I’m motivated with my own PT

This makes me feel better I’m a baseball pitcher and having arthroscopic surgery to remove loose bodies in my elbow so it’s encouraging to see the short recovery time for these types of surgeries
typical neocon doctor. All he cares about is a productive citizen; welcome to the future.
This is an excellent video! I am high risk of blood clots but I must get this surgery now…my knee keeps swelling and it won’t go down
Resting, medication, and slow recovery is NOT how to get out of a concussion. This approach utilizes material and information that is incomplete or out of date. if you have a TBI, concussion at any intensity, and symptoms that wont go away after 6-9 days contact Cognitive Fx at cognitivefxusa.com IMMEDIATELY! They use cutting edge science and can find a concussion with fNIC/fMRI imaging.
This is a great video! I am continually amazed by how many concussions go unrecognized and untreated! Getting medical help early will dramatically increase your speed of recovery. Over the last 3 years my daughter and I have had help from a wide range of medical professionals and we are still in recovery!:-)
