this chicks heart rate is through the roof. 176 while running and 146 at rest?
I still use my Microsoft band because of the Guided workouts it has. No other fitness band does that.
They aren’t made to be 100% accurate. Also, having the trackers in different spots on the wrist, leads to inaccuracy.
My LG Sport steps are out by 1000+.. Gears and and Note 8 say 869 steps. LG says 1890 steps. That’s a huge amount!
Happy birthday vanessa sara mata Torres Fitbit smart watch box
the smartphones are for sure capable of doing caloric estimates its called strava.
Bought the new Fitbit Charge 4 brand new and it doesnt work. Such a waste of money
the way i see it is NO SHIT THE MEDICAL ONE IS GOING TO BE BETTER
Sleep As Android uses an accelerometer, heart rate, and breathing/oxygen saturation. They are looking into a consumer eeg wearable that’s comfortable for all night use.
It also can use sonar for actiography and breathing rate. They also have a sleep device, a lamp, which does actiography and simulates sunrise.
I’d say that’s no small feat. It’s a dedicated sleep app, not an appendage of a fitness band.
If they can’t track actual sleep, they are no better than a stopwatch and a pen and paper.
Fitness trackers have a long way to go, cant comment about the higher priced ones. Its a known thing that a person can cheat, number of steps and heart rate. It would be great device to have as technology advances and pricing drops, just not now.
FYI… Handphone have been proven to be more accurate. just that you dont have a heart-rate monitor. etc
Pretty certain my Galaxy Note 4 built in heart rate sensor is 100% accurate, considering this video is 2 years old S Health has had a lot of updates since then and is now much more accurate, if not 100%.
What background song is that during the cycling portion of the video?
You forget that your phone is able to track data through that of Strava and Garmin Connect which might I add are Free to use apps. Not to mention most smartphones today are ant+ compatible, which also means a heart rate monitor that can cost no more than 20-30$ if you are a deal seeker like me is able to link with your phone. Compared with a $200 fitness watch the phone will highly outweigh any competition with the aid of one of the two formentioned apps.
comment section shows everyone was worried more about the reporter’s heart rate rather than the level of accuracy for the fitness trackers
That was the oddest way I have ever heard “capillaries” pronounced.
I guess you have to set your goal for 12K to be certain you’ve obtained 10K☺️
Fitbit 502 steps Jawbone 43 calories
Garmin 520 steps Fitbit 67 calories
Jawbone 559 steps Garmin 78 calories
Guys, let me tell you why they were so off. Fitbit calculates your heart rate burn as well as your energy burned from exercise. So if the Fitbit calculates you burned 45 calories it’s probably because you burned 20 calories from exercise and 20 calories from just living and breathing. Now there is gonna be a little bit inaccuracy, but just subtract 100-200 from your total calorie burn.
a 10 dollar wrist band is no difrent from these over priced machines,,,people are so easily taken
The difference in calorie burn: Could it be because the fitness trackers assumed he was walking on the streets and not being aided by the backward motion of the treadmill? And what do we know about the accuracy of that absurd face device in the first place?
My moto 360 has the worst step tracking ever. I wore that and my friends Garmin vivoactive one day and my moto got about half the vivoactive
The Doc has a look of being almost annoyed at even comparing the devices to his equipment….very funny
I have a fitness bracelet that i’ve bought in order to track my steps amount,my heart rate and.so on
In order for that device to work correctly, i need to sync between the bracelet and my smartphone, question is do i need to take my smartphone with me every time i go for a walk for tracking steps amount?
Thanks
But, in a way, you will not buy a Fenix 3 / HR / 5 for activity tracker functionality! You can, but others products will performe the same, are cheaper, and can fit the requirement. Buy a Fenix if you want a good indestructible multi sport tracker, mainly outdoor, in this specific domain, it rock!
Not sure but…. is she using the wrong finger. I think is supposed to be her lefthand. Not sure just asking.
They need to develop a product like the one the man was using on the treadmill. Just not that big. I like my Fitbit. It motivates me to do better each time. I’m not bothered by the fact that it’s not always 100%, I just have to make sure I do better every time. Then the true test will be the results. Eat healthy and work past your comfort level. Go beyond. My main use for the Fitbit is the heart rate tracker. This helps me a lot. I’ve noticed that when I don’t workout for about a week, my resting heart rate drops to a low 70s. But when I begin working out, my heart rate is much higher, which is what I want since it helps in burning more fat even when I’m not working out. I lost 35 lbs in 35 days while I’m on a low carb diet and working out. I was losing weight even when I wasn’t working out. You have to train your body to burn fat all the time. The point of this unnecessarily long comment is that as long as you are pushing harder every time, you will always continue to lose weight, regardless of your device’s inaccuracy. That is if you aren’t stuffing yourself all the time. At least you know that whatever your device reads you did much better than what its numbers are.
Okay, I’m just gonna get one thats 30 dollars from china and call it a day now.
Fitbit Alta HR counts my arm movements as steps when I sit at the desk all day and sleep. I got 3,000 steps by doing nothing.
As a video about fitness to some degree, we may want to avoid extra grains of salt.
So they don’t actually show any comparative data? What a load of old shit!
i still think these are unnecessary for fitness, additional technology only to satisfy the belief in fitness rather than being active
And I’m sitting here debating on whether a 20 dollar heartrate fitness tracker is worth it or not
Just a piece of motivation while paying a huge to Fitbit, Garmin or any other of those premium brands.
Who really expects them to be 100% accurate. They are accurate enough to motivate and that is what counts.
Wooow… so they’re saying it is to motivate and encourage healthy lifestyles.. but then people will go and eat what they burnt thinking that they are on track with their calories for the day… disgusting
for me accuracy doesnt really matter….i am at around 3.5K steps daily right now which i know is definitely an inactive lifestyle…..i aim to take it to atleast 8-9K…who cares if the accuracy is off by 500 steps? the goal is to improve your health.
honestly no one should listen to step counting. want to get fit, with cardio. the fit bit does not stand a chance with garmin. yes no hr built in but just wear the strap… i get hr in water. stroke counts and distance as well as. bike cadence/speed and gps. same goes for running… others are trash
Are there any Fitness trackers that don’t connect to your Phone??
Yeah, all that equipment looks comfortable enough for a good night’s sleep.
They fucking don’t. They’re literally the most quickly abandoned technology since the tamagotchi.
I would also suggest Reflex Smart Bands on Fastrack.in. It comes in various designs and is very affordable.
It also has additional features than most of the watches mentioned here.
The foods are under calories, and the watches/trackers are over calories, soo unfair
These are not the 5 best fitness trackers, there is also like the Huawei Band 4 Pro, the Honor Band 5 en the 5i and a lot of other brands that make very good trackers.
Like every tracker the Samsung and other trackers are unsafe when they are used with a Health app, Even the Samsung Health app sends more data to Samsung then you would like, yes even your contacts (by by privacy ), lol, if you want to keep your data/privacy safe, don’t use the tracker with a health or other app.
What if I use a fitness tracker like the AU band that only measures resting heart rate? Would I need to buy a chest hr monitor with that….
can we have a latest video with Fitbit charge HR, jawbone Up3, if they finally release it please.
And when it says shut up, please shut up and don’t talk. Girls are girls. Please follow damn instructions in your next video.
P.S I’m not a Samsung user.
is that fitness tracker comparison video/comparison coming out soon?
So it’s about fitness trackers until the apple watch is included as a smartwatch? I think the bias is showing, the others on the list are strictly fitness trackers.
Treadmill is designed to give calories burned for human bodies at rest( no transnational motion). Fitness trackers are designed for moving bodies. During actual walking, energy is also required to translating body. So both are correct.
Happy birthday Vanessa sara mata Torres Samsung Galaxy watch steps everything my cousin vanessa
Why is her heart rate soooo high??? Omg See a doctor ASAP…
I have an app that uses the camera light and camera to measure my finger pulse. These apps have been around for years.
1:30. not realy. they dont messure how much blood its flowing, ther messure if its flowing or not (aka pulse). also they messure the oxygen level. witch isnt realy importand for fitness if ure not klimbing mount everest or suffer from COPD.
I rode my motorbike for 8km & my smartband shows i took 1000 steps! Then I rode 250km & it says 15,000 steps! Met my target in a few hours lol!
they should make a taste detector that you put in your mouth so that when fast food is felt you get shocked
There’s a lot of money to be made doing sleep studies, they didn’t mention that…
Only 2 of those are fitness trackers the others are actually smart watches. Also with checking distance. You need to calibrate pretty much all of them first. This is done by using gps on your phone concurrently while going for a run. Just going for a walk will not give you the best results. Also the phones you are connected to for the gps will also change your distance based on the gps pinging frequency.
People in this comment section are beyond uneducated. 175bpm is not a high heart rate for a young woman, infact it’d be within the target limits
They were off by a little but honestly, 100 steps + and 40ish calories difference don’t really matter.
100 percent accurate,,cmon,,,these things are a joke,,,,i have tried several from friends and all extremely overestimate calories,,i maintain at 2000 calories,,lose at 1500 and gain at 2500,,,these things all have me above 3000 calories,,the weight would be falling off me,,the public is soooooooooooo gullible
The accuracy improves when you plug or change the advanced settings like height, weight, and your stride. You can’t just have the devices set to zero aka autopilot.
That’s cause they using old drivers. Far out ghee people these days

@BrentRose please compare these GPS enabled wearables the Samsung Gear S2 3G, Garmin Fenix 3 HR and Fitbit Surge. Thank you in advance.
Hold on.. did u set your age, weight and gender in the app? That changes the calories per minute you burn
I want a heart rate monitor while I sleep anyone recommend one? Hopefully I can plug it in and or has lithium battery.
Alot of these work based on information such as height or weight
It’s a false equivalence fallacy. Wearables aren’t medical devices, which incidentally cost thousands of dollars and are not wearable but are designed with medical intervention purposes in mind. A wearable, by contrast, provides the consumer with an approximation that ought to be measured as an average for a set period say three months. This allows you to approximate health, fitness and performance variables, but also provides information that can be conveyed to medical specialist to evaluate against their own measurements over time.
I have been looking at reviews for heart rate monitors for hours and this is the best one of all.
Fitness trackers are a waste of money except for fitness enthusiasts and let’s be honest they’re the minority that go to the gym.
My gear S3 watch said I walked 2 times as far as I really did according to Google maps.
My phone also recorded a 6.7 mile walk in a reality 4.2 mile walk. Not even close

I am warning all reader about trusting Brent Rose and Wired review on any product and tech unless strong and urgent corrective action is taken. Follows is my suggestion to Wired.
Wired,
You are absolutely correct to say wrong is wrong and let it pass if the wrong is unintentional. However, if someone intentionally published bias review because he was too lazy to do his homework, stand to gain personally or simply just downright illogical; then, such wrong should never be taken lightly by a major media outlet. Publicly denouce and cutting all ties with Brent Rose for his action seems to be the only decent you are required to do and here is why.
The reason why I stated his action is intentional is because the review by Wired is published almost 2 weeks after Mavic launch as such that is a lot of other reviews which Brent should have gone through before writing such a late review. In addition, he intentionally limit his comparison perimeter to put Karma in the best possible light. Thus, he is either intentionally crazy, intentionally lazy, intentionally bribed or their combinations.
Without any strong and immediate disciplinary action, his values will be seems to reflect the media value. i.e. Wired is a corrupted media source, where its contributors and authors are too lazy to do basic research before review and no one should take it seriously.
You decide!

I bought a Fitbit charge 3 and I got black pixel lines on the screen within a few days
Almost 190 running? Thats quite fast. I can run for 30 mins and only get to about 160
My mi band is accurate.. It shows aprox 20 kcal burned for 500 steps
I wonder if this woman is now on beta blockers or something. I don’t know how she can be so chilled when her heart rate is basically off the scale! The sleazy doc standing next to her must have surely said something when the camera stopped rolling.
Having just purchased the Fitbit charge hr last week after counting steps with my iPhone 6 for the past 2 years, I feel I made the correct choice! Thanks for this well-done video. I subscribed and look forward to more informative videos.
How many years does it last? Why does it get a gray screen with lines and then you can’t use any longer.

@Sumi Das you’re a RUBBISH reporter!!! Your sleep expert basically kept telling you how unreliable fitness monitors are at managing sleep, so how do you reach the conclusion that fitness monitors can help us improve our sleep? Did you even listen to what she was saying???
All those watches are really cheap. Try comparing it to a Garmin which is widely used by athletes

Fitbit suggest I consume almost 3000 calories a day to lose 2 pounds a week. How is this correct?
Id have too much anxiety sleeping with that bomb strapped to me, how can i even sleep on my side with that on
damn you poodlecorp. lol linustechtips getting hacked is really really really ironic.
I was curious about the chest straps and found this helpful but i couldn’t agree more with the comments below about her cardiovascular fitness. She cracked 190 bpm without sweating or puking on the doc.
Video thumbnail showed a charge HR and a surge. Both of which I have and both are still kicking years after purchase. No issues except for battery which is a simple thing to replace. Get them second hand off eBay and you’ll be laughing. Batteries and new straps can be purchased off AliExpress.
no way you burnt that many calories on a 10 min bike ride. I’m guessing 600 calories an hour.
I wonder if they changed the settings of height and weight for the calorie part, didn’t hear anything about that in the video.
None of them are accurate enough, certainly not worth spending upwards of $100 for something that isn’t as accurate as an EKG. At least with a phone it’s already there, no additional costs.
Even though it’s not 100% accurate, but fitness tracker has its own algorithm, and every night our sleep is determined by the same algorithm so we can compare our day to day sleep through that same algorithm, that’s good enough information and statistic to be aware of our sleep data.
He sets up a false standard right at the beginning, most consumers with common sense DON’T expect their fitness tracker to get 100% correct down to the step, much less accurately measure your calories burned. That’s why you need a lab full of equipment to get an accurate number. It’s not a super science, of course something on your WRIST won’t be perfect measuring how many steps you take with your FEET. And still, I didn’t thoroughly test it but I was surprised when casually walking and looking at my Charge 2 how accurate it was at measuring my steps. And these devices do say that they should be a certain distance from the wrist muscle, about 2 inches, so in hindsight OF COURSE this wasn’t a methodologically rigorous and valid study. Each device should be tested in the closest circumstances possible. Which is funny considering it is from a professional news organization.
the cardiologist knows he is wasting his time. his facial expressions tell it all but his penis is telling him to keep going…..
My garmin forerunner + Endomondo is great:) Danish app! Anyway you won’t burn shit from doing running etc, all about food you eat…I dunno what my stats are, but like 500 KM running is what 50 burgers or some…nothing
Glad I saw this, I wanted to know the best tracker to purchase and the answer is none. Thank you❤
one other thing about the widdling test.. i haveent read the comments so i idk if its been covered… most people should wear their fitness tracker on their non dominant hand. therefor.. not the hand you would be holding the knife with… just an opinion. every fitness track ive used has an option for dominant and non dominant hand
Yeah this is wrong it dont the fitbit accounts for what your body normally burns to not only what you burn through excercise.
Fitbit. Talk about over estimating your steps by THOUSANDS. Standing still. Look down, oh wow, I just got another 250 steps yay I had 19,000 steps today. WRONG. Do a set of 25 burpees, my heart is pounding. Check my heartrate annndddd flatline. Again. Wear chest strap and get a HR of 160+ on my wahoo phone app while my fitbit would tell me 128. I’m done. I got a garmin vivoactive 4s and love it. I have a very hard time getting in my 10,000 steps because its ACCURATE. My heart rate on my garmin matches very closely to my HR chest strap. Why does this not make the top 5? Crazy.
Studying for an exam which will incorporate these tracking bands and Blue Ocean Strategy. I can assume that in the end of the day Apple is gonna outwit all devices targeting human adults. They’re leaders in displays (when it comes to personal computers and mobile devices) and slick product design (sexy, reliable). They’ll take it from there. UP is constantly updating their bands, but we all know how Apple updates iPads like how we change underwear! Let us just wait and see.
Plus Apple has a bigger game: Personal communication. They know how to connect with people. They will incorporate all the Apple ecosystem within.
Whistle and Leapfrog will probably keep going on, as they target dogs and kids, respectively.
i don’t know why, but monitors that use electrical impedance just plain don’t work. the data always ALWAYS just looks like raw input from an accelerometer. no problem with the ones that use light, though.
So much product placement on this channel… But the videos are good, so I don’t care:)

youtube suggesting me this 6yrs later to know that my honor band 5 is accurate or not
In this day and age you gotta exercise and eat well to lose weight. As much as I wanna be skinnier, I’m not giving up food. Not worth it lol, I’ll just stick to working on exercising.
Fitbit Charge 3 won’t last you longer than a year. I’ve purchased Fitbit over and over again, and they never last long. The app doesn’t sync well with your watch so don’t again. And, customer service doesn’t actually give a shit about you.
Everyone can test himself in real life situation, no need for fancy equipment. Tested several times by measuring pulse on my neck for 15 sec while walking, then multiply by 4 to get per minute… and readings were very close or exact match with my Polar H7, pretty good match also optical measuring with Garmin Vivosmart HR. Optical reading have problem reacting fast enough to sudden increase of hr (which is to be expected, it is physiological), pretty a lot of problems for me also in winter with very low temperatures, but stats at the end of run or fast walk average and max hr were in majority of cases very close, sometimes optical lower by max 10, about 5-6 for max. As long as I did not sprint or walking up stairs fast from experience I can trust both chest belt and optical (speaking for vivosmart, can’t know for others). With sudden changes in heart beats or very cold weather for sure H7 have all my trust.
@top5picks could you please do a comparative review of the Whoop 3.0 vs Fitbit versa 2.
Thank you
Please make a video on the ‘Turtle beach Hypersound glass speakers’…
What is more likely to crack stop working, the xiaomi mi band, or Fitbit inspire HR
Yikes! I dunno that 170+ is a good or healthy heart rate with such a short workout! And 146 is her rest?? I stress out when my resting BPM goes over 70 and I really have to push it to even get to 160 BPM on my hard cycling rides or hard runs!
“Speaking of keeping your body fresh and fit, Freshbooks, isn’t for your body, it’s for your accounting.”

Until now smartwatch only marketing effect, maybe 3 or 5 years more untill smartwatch really usefull
How much better is it if the watch not only measures the movement but also the heart rate?
Like a lot of smartwatches do nowadays
The calories of fitness trackers might include metabolic calories with exercise calories.
I have Fitbit charge HR as well as Garmin Finix3 HR. both works well and accurate. In the video, it is clear that you are promoting only Fitbit and promoting Garmin. it seems that you are not familiar with the finix3. why you are misleading people. you did not show the count on the video. how do we know that you are not lying? its only a marking thing what you did in the video.

Very good these watches fitnes good movie.
i use with fitbit charge 4 https://amzn.to/3jLE3D9
If it was connected too your blood, they’ll the accuracy will make sense
What about if I need one without screen why is It so hard to find one!?!!!!? I don’t want a mini watch in my wrist I already have my watch I want a wristband that tells me my steps and sleep.
I am an entrepreneur that is selling a fitness tracker watch I worked on for months, that monitors your heart rate, steps, and is waterproof, for only $19! You can check it out here:) https://onenecessity.com/products/smart™-bracelet-fitness-tracker-watch?variant=31609042141227
holy hell.. 193 bpm? that is a terrible heart rate for not much activity.. I reach 170 when I totally max myself out, with your level I would be at 120-122
No joke, did we factor in arm hair disrupting the watches that gave no data? Perhaps after the hair is coated in enough perspiration it would become conductive and less of an impedance.
I use a Wheelchair, and Exercise when I can. I don’t worry about Calories burn, or anything like that. I just Exercise, because I know that I am doing my Body good.
I GUESS HER MAX HEART RATE IS 240 OR SHES TOTALLY OUT OF SHAPE
You didn’t mention that the proprietary Samsung health app to go with your device will only run on Samsung phones! And you have to have a newer phone, it wont run on even an old Samsung phone! I found this out shortly after purchasing a Gearfit 3. Big Bummer.
these are cool gadgets
but a no frills, no screen one to put on the ankle and forget would be awesome.
With just real time HR, and statistical HR data 1,12,24 hr. And then just let the phone app do the data crunching.
I know people who burn 1000 calories measured by smart watches then eat a 500 calories cake then wonder why they are still fat:D
I want a cheap tracker that has gps, ❤️ rate monitor, Strava and works with a oppo phone…….
did you actually check the accuracy of these things tho? TOP 5 PICKS
Loved my Charge 2…not so much Charge 3….8 months after purchase…screen corrupted…6 months later replacement screen corrupted…notice this is 14 months..2 months out of the warranty for original purchase. Replacement didn’t extend warranty! So I have a $150 tracker with a corrupted screen and all they would offer is a 25% discount except it is not good on the Charge 4!
that’s good. I used the heart monitor section of the health app on the phone to monitor my heart rate while I was between cardiologist visits because I had no other way of doing it.
Well you’ve got a new subscriber. Your channel’s content are on spot and just shows scientific explanation on the tech inside the wearables in relation to daily fitness or physical activities.
Wish you have include Samsung Gear S2 3G in your test because this is my current wearable device I have and I want to know how accurate it is with its heart rate sensor.
matt lauer, that slimeball. i wonder who got his sticky desk he used to bang firls on.
Yeah a sleep study gather a lot of data to a scientific precision and then when you read the result of the sleep study you see:
GOOD
NORMAL
OR
BAD
You could have just asked me how did you sleep?
AND YOU WOULD HAVE GOTTEN THAT RESPONSE
Well I bought the Fitbit charge 3 about 1 month.agonand the screen went dead…called customer service we tried all the trouble shooting and they decided to send me a replacement..got it in a week and that too in same day it arrived refused to turn on it will only turn on on the charging cradle..called them again and now awaiting my second replacement from them..I hope this one will work because I enjoyed it for the few weeks it actually worked…I am a. But worried about length of life…it was not cheap and I really wanted this to be my health investment tracker…
Your track test is hardly scientific. It’s only 400 per lap on the inside of that lane as he wandered between at the left and right of the lane the lap distance can vary by a few metres. So just becauae one watch said 1000 metres it won’t necessarily be the most accurate.
Everyone, the Samsung Gear S3 is trash. It does not work please dont buy. Samsung is such horseshit now
Well at the end you still didn’t tell us how much calories you actually burned you just showed us that the fitness trackers with the heart rate monitor showed more calories burned but they still could be overcounting or undercounting your actual calories burned so we still don’t know if the weareble devices can be trusted on their information or not.
@ 1:20 she says the heart rate is “93 O2″… that O2 is your 99% oxygen saturation you moron….
3036 steps vs 3140 is only 4% difference. What are you talking about, that’s extremely close.
Should have compared the results of the sleep study to the fitbit
Definitely the best video ever! Fact and experiment based review. Such a rarity these days that I almost feel like saluting this lady for her thoroughness in reviewing the product!
this dude is exactly the person im glad that covered this theme, because i still think he looks like and dresses like some who really is for a gym. hes like ex-gym dude gone IT-nerd
I’m researching care sheets for babies to sleep and discovered an awesome website at Calmer fixer blueprint (google it if you’re interested)
It tracks the pulse rate and this dude put multiple at the time so it obviously won’t work right
Calories in/calories out doesn’t work anyway. The body adjusts its resting metabolic rate to account for extra calories coming in or being burned (or fewer on each). It takes a huge swing in either direction to affect your weight that way. The main advantage to exercise comes in different forms for different exercises.
Weight lifting and resistance training builds muscle, which increases your metabolic rate and your body’s ability to burn excess sugar quickly, as well as extra fat when your blood stream isn’t flooded with insulin. Walking and sprinting decreases your insulin resistance, decreasing the effect that an insulin response has on your weight gain.
“The Samsung S5 is the best!:

I don’t know what this chick has going on with her heart but if she reaches 175 that easily-then something is wrong.Isn’t that doctor right next to her going to tell her something about that?!
One you can wear a chest strap with the Fenix. (Of course there’s a hr based Fenix now.) Two I think fitness trackers can tell that you are getting a lot of steps at a time, can’t they? So they can in that sense understand you are burning more calories.
Even your own body burns calories differently doing the same exercise as the day prior.
Stress levels could change it.
A slight infection.
Quality of Sleep.
Etc
Even the most accurate would still be off.
What’s important is CONSISTENCY of results.
That way you can work out the TRENDS, over short term, mid term and long term.
Now the numbers revealed. Just add or subtruct those numbers from the accurate ones to your fitness tracker, then wah-lah.
Going 170+ makes you go crazy you can’t talk for quite a while… her strap on sensor was the one fooling her and she trying to fool us by saying she doing intense cardio
I LOVED LOVED LOVED this video!! thank you sooo much for the demonstrations!
hey LMG could you do a quick explanation session on the types of processes like 16nm process,14 nm process etc what do these mean generally
Thanks to you. I decided to by one but this video shows these fitness band is just a garbage. thanks again for save my money
So may I suggest you guys review the Empatica E4 wristband. And their embrace watch?
My girlfriend just bought me a Fitbit charge 2. It says I burned 700 calories and I only drove to work
I feel like it’s kind of hit or miss with the sleep trackers on watches. I know I woke up for about an hour and during that time for some reason it said rem sleep. Don’t know why seein as I got up and went tot he bathroom and everything. But I think it generally can give a good picture of your sleep maybe?
LPT: Try to do 100 squats, 100 crunches/sit ups, and 10km of walking or biking a day, and you’ll see great improvement.
All those readings above 150 this gal is about to really screw herself up overworking her heart. 193 is above anybody’s MHR. These devices all seem weird. The information is skewed so badly I do not believe anything said here.
Those extra comments are terrible. What unfit person are you?
Let’s say you’re doing a treadmill exercise. You know, the kind where you occasionally change the speed and incline. Do you really need a video of someone telling you “it’s time to go faster?” Nah. Aaptiv packs great audio–only classes for all those workouts that just don’t make sense for video. Smart design, great music, and a huge library of classes make even the most hardcore exercises enjoyable. What if I take 2 min breaks in between?does it adjust accordingly
All the comments suggesting using a heart rate monitor strap. My phone can connect with several different versions. If you are going to wear a strap, it makes a phone more accurate as well. Only down side is their weight and bulk, especially the plus type phones…
What you talking about.. Vancouver doesnt have Tim Hortons… last time i went, finding a Tims was like finding a needle in a hay stack… the hay stack being Starbucks. xD
Anyone else notice that beautiful Mora Companion he was using? 😉
I see you
Great steps thanksfor sharing my private. thank your welcome
Don’t forget that they cant really track how many calories you burn off doing strength training because the relationship between heart rate and calorie expenditure is different from that of doing cardio. So it will in the case of strength training overestimate how many calories you actually burn.
He is wearing the Garmin over his wrist bone, so it can’t measure his pulse.
This type of scientific review should be done with all fitness wearables. It’s the difference between wasting your efforts and money, and getting reliable health data.
Thanks CNET and Sharon.
Does this fitness tracker have 32GBs of RAM? Because my PC has 32GBd of RAM.
My S7 Edge Heart Rate meter is verry accurate. My girlfriend who works in Hospital at Cardio, tested it with proffesional meter and the S7. Its was verry accurate.
I have a Fitbit Charge 3… and after I got a new phone, it stopped working!! I could not for the life of me get the watch to sync to my app. So now I’m stuck with a watch that can’t even tell time at least! I have been emailing Fitbit customer support for a few weeks now… and their solution is for me to buy another model! Yeah right! Complete waste of money! #ByeFelicia
But if the inaccuracy is consistent… it’s still usable. Let’s say every day you walk 5000 steps but the tracker says 6000, well you know if you step more or less the next day you still have a base to compare from
PLZ ALSO TELL ME FRND THAT WHICH ONE OF ITS DATA IS ABSOLUTE CORRECT RIGHT AND EXACT AND ACCURATE

WHICH ONE IS THE CORRECT DATA FOR ME PLZ TELL ME THAT ONLY TO ME FRND
Maybe the reason is position of smart trackers on your hand, the first one is xiaomi 4, and the last one is samsung that is not close to your hand where should smartwatch be
The fitbit charge 3 is trash. I bought one a year & a half ago & user experience leaves a lot to be desired.
It worked fine for the first few months & basically became gradually more useless as time went on.
It doesn’t connect to my Samsung phone unless I turn the phone off & on. So if you want to check your sleep you need to reset your phone in the morning. I use a bunch of Bluetooth gadgets & this is the only one with this issue. Even if I reset before exerciseing it will struggle to stay connected to my phone through the duration of a run. Most of my runs are not tracked through GPS because of this or they’re tracked for the first 10 minutes & then fitbit makes up an impossible route to account for it’s estimated distance I traveled. On top of that, it sometimes just stops tracking a run partway through. This always seems to happen when I go for a personal best too, but sometimes it happens on a normal run.
Sleep tracking is inaccurate, it often says I’m asleep when I’m not.
Sometimes it just won’t turn on. I’ll push & hold the sensor & it’ll give me the normal haptic feedback but the screen won’t respond. Sometimes this can be fixed by putting it on charge (even though it still has plenty of charge left) other times you just have to wait for half hour or more for it to decide to work.
And now fitbit are trying to become a subscription based service, so if you want all the information fitbit are gathering on you, you need to give them money each month on top of the money you spend on their garbage products.
My Mum bought a charge 3 around the same time as me & has had some of the same issues, though admittedly not to the same extent as me. She really only uses it as a sleep tracker & wristwatch though.
The company’s say the trackers are designed to motivate? Wtf
Did you guys take Withings in consideration as well in these reviews? I find the Fitbit Premium Pay for your content method a very offputting fact. They already charge one of the highest prices for their devices, and now some of the data has been blocked off behind a premium function in the app. Like heartrate stats during the night and the use of the actuall work-out app Fitbit Coach. You have to pay a monthly fee for stuff you can actually find plenty for free on the internet with a little research. Where as Withings new Steel HR and newer models, offer the same comfort of use have a better battery life and measurements are just as accurate. I myself have been using a Fitbit for years now but am seriously considering switching to the Samsung or Withings if Fitbit continues with these rediculous “pay for your stats” methods in their app. Also the Fitbit App is actually one if THE FEW fitness apps that does not work with Google Fit. You need an extra app on your phone to get your stats send from your fitness app into your google fit account. Rediculous if you ask me in this modern age and for that price range you’d expect it to play nice with the 2 most used health apps in the net namely Google Fit and Apple Health. I honestly find it surprising how many reviews state that the Charge 3 is “the best” overal fitness tracker and I sincerely disagree as of 2020 there are better options than fitbit in general. Fitbit is only this popular because it is one of the largest and most known fitness app company around it does not make them the best though.
Fresh books will keep you fresher, less stress, less sweat, less bad smell
My Fitbit Charge 3 finally broke after 18 months. Got it as a gift. I couldn’t be happier. HR monitor hardly worked and Sleep tracker was just as bad. You can barely read the display. When tapped it stays lit for three seconds, you have to hit it two/three times to see your progress., it’s just awful, SYAT AWAY FROM THE CHARGE 3!
If you are more professional, and need to track overall health, a “smartwatch” could just be your thing. You want some best smart watches for men 2018? Just watch this video before you buy. https://youtu.be/dXNFP7ZvPOM
I’ll tolerate a small measurements error, is way better than no measurements at all, thanks for your testing
could you give your source for this video? I’m working on sth and need it
I’m thinking of getting one of these gadgets. I’m glad I saw this video because in the end, Calories Burned is what’s important for me and I didn’t know it needed to monitor my heart beat to find what I burned or approximately burned. Thumbs up!
Thumbs up for bike ride with camera. An amazing feat of agility though I was a little worried you would crash.
can someone recommend the smartwatch, I need it for a workout so I can see the heart rate and burned calories, by seeing a lot of videos am confused
To be fair, the Fenix 3 can be paired to a heart rate strap (comes in bundled with the watch or separately)
Thanks fitness tracker, I almost walked right into that volcano
phones do detect cycling even when ur stationary on machine…I have tested this out using Google fit
Does you have to turn the GPS on the count step and calories
It’s on your dominant hand so that makes things differently alot
Can you guys do a video on why each model of Intel CPU has multiple versions?
Is all a gimmick…I eat twice as much calories around my family and I just sit on the computer all day, been the one with lower weight around the house by far (relatively, in good shape).
Most of my energy is burn inside my head and tension around my entire body muscle. There is no smartwatch that measure this to be honest but yeah, is nice to know how much you run when you go for a stroll I give them that. I always like those old school odometers back when I spend all my time on a bike.
Huawai? So the Chinese Government is able to accurately track people? Interesting
Unlicensed plastic surgeon. Why would anyone wanna boast about this?
What a way to waste a Doctors time.. how did he agree to this waiting around for crappy hardware & software on time he will never get back in his life… & ditto
Good review. I wish someone would do another one of these reviews. Also she should probably get more exercise. Her heart rate maxed out with some comparatively light jogging.
My Garmin watch seems pretty spot on, even during exercise. I often test it out the old fashioned way just to be sure.
Tim Hortons? Canada? Look, mate, Buffalo is as addicted as Alberta when it comes to Timmy Ho’s. Don’t forget us!
man this video is so helpful to my proposed research paper..i’m studying the fitness band adoption and looking for reasons why i choose fitness band to study and not smartwatch..
Brent Rose! please do a video comparing sport watches such as Suunto vs Garmin vs Polar.
with the apple watch i always have half a km done after showering
All I need is a timer that looks cool and which is very accurate
Why don’t people put those wristbands on facing downwards so the sensors are closer to the veins on the ‘bottom side’ of your wrist? I mean, I havent tried them yet but that would seem to make more sense.
I’m holding out for tri-corders from TNG.
I can’t imagine how useful it would be to know what minerals/vitamins/nutrients my body is actually lacking.
The fact that you walked 1000 steps for this vid is more than enough to earn a like from me. Love your videos! Keep it up man. Truly inspiring.
at 4:25 he’s thinking…. I wonder if she takes it up the shitter.
wow this is at the moment most useless video. Maybe try few trackers first?
This is the best video I’ve seen for fitness trackers.
Is there an update with all devices released in the last 3 months?
I personally use a whoop strap and find it great for staying on top of fitness and health.
I love Brent Rose OMG seriously the BEST presenter!!! He needs to be on Dirty Jobs
When they got to step 2, and at least half of us did not think whittling, even after we knew it was whittling…
Fenix 3 has a heart strap and you can also add a ton of other little dongles to it, fiddly but will be more accurate.
well, i would need a bottle of whiskey to fall asleep with those icu equipment put on my body
One day I was running and used Nike + app to measure my distance and it measured 5.7km. Next day I ran same distance and used another app and it measured 4.5km. actually the distance was exactly 5km.
Just as you claim phones in your pocket are not good estimators of pace/steps and eventually migrating to heart rates, wrist based heart rates are not perfect in the spectrum of heart monitoring. They aren’t always good from resting to peak heart rates when monitoring on the wrist. The chest monitoring is the best but I would like to see the error margins on athletics people, casual runners and people just beginning to exercise.
Those ‘body types’ may vary (in my opinion) to make a generalized statement on wrist based or chest based heart monitoring. I would not go simply by your results since your body type isn’t the same as mine. Everyone is different for heart rate tracking accuracy.
The samsung galaxy 5 can also be paired with a heart rate monitor via bluetooth as well. I have the bluetooth polar chest strap and it pairs with it. No need to hold your finger on the sensor
have you ever tested out the accuracy of xiaomi mi band 2.., although it may sound cheap but its accurate. i walked 512 steps and as per the smartwatch, i burned 21 calories!!. so pretty close…do checkout, i think great value for money.
I understand that they measure heart rate, but do the apps show calories burned based on your heart rate?
Who else came here for the: You got wrecked by poodlecorp m8″ comments?
The fitbit was right you did 1001 steps, you did a small step there at the end.
The fit is 100% correct you toke 1 step after you counted 1000
Where do they get the pictures for these videos? They all look the same.
If you use your phone with a separate chest monitor it will be just as accurate as any wrist monitor. That is if the wrist one comes with a chest strap which is in my opinion the most accurate.
That’s Samsung guys,,, Fu*k Iphone, people pay a lot of money with little technology.
You dont sell that device just to motivate, I am not a kid, I want accuracy

Completely useless video!
What`s about heart rate, GPS and many more features?
I feel like this overlooks one of the major considerations for those that run rather than those who are interested in causal fitness (I’m going to assume that those willing to spend $200+ are more on the ‘serious’ side of things).
The major question when it comes to accuracy for distance runners (such as myself) is which form of GPS is more accurate and that is almost undeniably phones… Unless you’re spending an insane amount of money.
However, your ability to see and interact with wearable devices is actually what sets them apart. If you just want to monitor distance, speed etc for your run your phone (with appropriate apps) is probably a better device. If you need constant available feedback on your pace etc a watch is a no-brainer.
I use headphones plugged into my phone (to listen to music etc) while running which can give audio based cues about if you are on pace or not… In that regard wearables are a waste of money.
(I currently occasionally use the garmin fr235 when I don’t want to take my phone).
Try comparing the Fenix3, Band2 and 360 sport with GPS on please.
At 3:14 you say you got 128 bpm, then at 3:27 you say you got 141 bpm. Doesn’t sound right considering you are resting:)
I like your videos, and prefer the fitbit charge HR, I may be a little biased though since I own and use my fitbit alot.
I have not tried to the other trackers, but I am glad the fitbit did well in your tests.
People who rely on fitness trackers to measure the distance they have covered may be in for a nasty surprise. A recent study warned that many of these gadgets failed to do their job of accurately keeping track of how far the user had run.
I had vouchers left over from Christmas and studied fitness trackers for a few hours to decide what to get.
In the end I was happiest just with a free app “RunKeeper” because I was more interested in tracking routes, distance, time, (estimated calories), vertical meters and the Android won out providing all these free. I don’t care so much about actual steps or heart rate but I can see how budgeting my meals around caloric burn could be a useful investment. I’m waiting another year for better models to become available.

With all that stuff connected to you I’m guessing the results are wildly inaccurate
Sadly Fitbit is now owned by mr. g…. and having said that, I think mr g is sharing the info they collect with not so friendly countries and anyone else that will give them enough money..
The Fitbit tracker knows when you’re still awake so in the morning it shows how long it took for you to fall asleep, how long you were in light sleep mode, deep sleep mode as well as how much REM sleep a person gets
Great test, would be great to have an update with latest devices.
They aren’t made to be 100 percent accurate. I use it as a motivator to move.
Looks like a meat print at 1:00… Worth watching this video for that alone
Bottom line? I’m 68, time is short. I REQUIRE A WRIST HEART RATE WATCH, no chest band, if possible. Suggestions? Anyone been to Thunder Mountain in Utah?
Love my Galaxy Fit!⭐️⭐️> imgs.love/SGalaxyFit?2に Best fitness bracelet I’ve owned. Links to Samsung app! Bought cheaper, kept losing them. Great strap! Dropped it recently, spent the night in the dog’s water dish! Still runs Great! Never lost the charge!
“unlicensed” lol your “whittling” is very good Only 5 minutes isn’t long enough though
190 bpm?!!!… thats really not good, even when you work out.
I wonder if she wore the watch so the sensor was on the bottom side of her wrist if it would have made a fifference.
What are other pain points in heart rate monitoring in a watch? Can improving optical efficiency or reducing power consumption at the LED help? Will VCSELs be preferable to LEDs?
Wait a minute…. The very first device was as you say, spot on, and it told you right away. But then the very last device is a phone and it wasn’t spot on AND you had to stop and wait for a reading and then you say it was the best device??? The video was interesting, but you really should have kept track of the readings and displayed them together also, then maybe you wouldn’t have mistakenly said the last was the best. But, thanks for what you did do. It helps us all.
A comparison between sleep tracking gadgets and polysomnography would be really helpful.
How can having all those wires, sensors and machines attached to your body give a good picture of how you sleep? I would get a terrible sleep with that stuff attached to me. Not least because I generally sleep on my side and those wires would prevent you doing that. It would give an inaccurate picture just on that basis alone.
I’m just impressed she could get her HR up to 193 easily at that age…. and she could talk while doing it. Wtf am I doing wrong? At 195 probably 10 years younger than her there is no way I’m talking much.
There is a specific part of the wrist you are supposed to wear the watch on otherwise there is a warning that it may not be accurate
Fitbit cheats! I threw away mine and bought a cheaper one. If you walk around walmart and dont move that hand with the tracker.,…it will not register…so make sure u move that. Fitbit is crazy coz it will count even when ur in your moving car hahaha. My tracker is cheap and it never works if I try to cheat like moving my hand up and down while sitting.
Talk about bad sleep in this episode… Not nearly as enough sound sleep as people should have…
