I have been trying to raise awareness that our hospital system should take things seriously but I've been met by nonchalance and the attitude that "it's not really a big deal. We only have a few cases. It's a bad type of flu and most people are recovering etc." It's a bit frustrating and I'm wondering if others are finding this attitude as well?
I think us physicians are terrible at following basic hygiene practices. I've seen many physicians go to evaluate flu patients without a mask. Not wash hands etc. Simple things like this can help as we have limitations on masks etc.
Edit: Perhaps some of you have not seen the videos from the countries that were affected. These are not meant to make you panic but to show the realities on the ground in those countries. Many of these videos are hard to find and have been taken down by youtube, governments etc. Here are a few:
