I so disagree with this assumption. I was always on the chubby side and decided in my late 30s to lose the weight. I studied nutrition a little and made a decision. Lost about a total of 60 pounds. Changed my wardrobe from a size 16-18 to a size 6-8. I am now in my late 50s and still wear that same size 6-8. I just made a decision not to eat junk and make my own food. I do not own a scale and never think or thought about dieting again. I just eat. It is not difficult. I do not even exercise, because I do not like it. This is bull crap. set your mind to losing, prepare food from scratch, and your proper appetite will develop. This type of “pseudo science” only gives people a bogus reason why they are having difficulties losing weight.
That’s the thing. You have to rewire your preferences too. Sure, don’t eat salad now, but try to like eating it in the future, because it’s not only good for your weight, it’s NECESSARY for your health too. I have a friend who doesn’t eat vegetables and her health deteriorated rapidly just because of that.
I told my doctor about this documentary and he said none of it was true he said the reason we eat more is because the stomach been stretched when obese lol… typical with mainstream doctors they know nothing about weight loss..
In my understanding diet and exercise we lose weight is not going to work if you do not set your mind into it.
I accomplished this specific diet “Kοnοnοz yyd” (Google it) which was simple to follow along with. I do physical exercise on a daily basis and attempt to comply with balanced and healthy diet, but I was caught up in my weights. Soon after 21 days of adhering to this guidebook, I burned Ten pounds of the bodyweight. I feel energetic without having a problem on controlling my appetite for meals. It truly feels superb!
This documentary is outdated. Anyone can lose and maintain weight if they stick to a eating routine FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. There is no diet, it’s a lifestyle change.

From my own weight loss experience, diets never really work. Even if it worked, it will only be a short term result. You will always gain back the weight you’ve lost. When you’re dieting, you restrict your calories intake, can’t eat the junk food you love etc. Once your weight loss reaches a plateau, you feel depressed and have the tendency to binge on those food you refused to eat while dieting. And you will gain back the weight. For a long term result, I recommend ppl to NOT eat around the clock, but notice your hunger cues. You can eat anything you want, but only eat when you’re truly hungry. Use a hunger scale, 3 means you’re starting to feel the hunger, 7 means you’re full(you can feel theres food in your stomach). Eat slowly (20 min at least). I can assure once you start to understand hunger & satiety, you will lose weight in a slow but definite way. Just have to be patient and wait for the result. Take small meals a day. Key is: eat only when you’re hungry (level 3), stop eating once you’re full (level 7). Dont stuff youself anymore once you’re full, you wont need that excess nutrients anyway. This method causes no pain, you can eat WHATEVER you want (but I recommend you to eat meal instead of eating junk foods). Before you eat, ask yourself “Am I hungry?” & “Am I at level 3?”. This is the key to weight loss.
I find it very easy to lose weight whenever i feel like it. It’s called discipline. Yes you can always find a explanation for why you are undisciplined, this whole video is great of convincing you of such. you fat fuck,do some goddamn sprints and eat less.
i lost 25 kg since january this year, no problem. come on…
This is bullshit, nobody loses weight by treating themselves and doing the minimum. Weight loss is about effort, sacrifice, and discipline.. the method she’s talking about is for the weak minded, and lazy
What are some ways to lost a ton of fat? I read a lot of great opinions on the net about how exactly Fenoboci Diet Plan can assist you lost tons of weight. Has anyone tried this popular fat burn method?
Listen for anyone trying to lose weight a temporary diet is only going to work short term it has to be a permanent diet you don’t stop eating McDonald’s for a month lose weight and go back to eating McDonald’s and gaining weight again you stop eating McDonald’s permanently this isn’t a realistic scenario for a diet but it sums it up well
Nice advertisement, nice music, very exciting…where’s the documentary?..I mean, with all the dramatic music covering people’s voices, this is a trailer, isn’t it?..at 01:20, the frivolous music stops, halle-bloody-lujah!!!..the lady says “Oh, mercy!” and what do you do? You play music over her voice…is this how you speak to people, you play music at the same time? Next thing, you’ll have loud music in school classes while the teacher teaches…why not at your doctor’s?!? Have images and words lost their weight, resorting to music being the only way to convey a dramatic message? Does the expression ‘incidental music’ ring a bell to you?..incidental is not permanent!-(
Has anyone tried Custokebon Secrets? (do a google search) We’ve heard many amazing things about this popular weight loss diet plan.
Yes no one addresses that weight loss is not always easy. There’s the psychological and emotional factors that stop us
It’s just a simple matter of WILL POWER, don’t eat! When you get out of the shower give yourself a good look and you can see the difference even if you have put on a single kilo (2.5lbs to USA). Don’t be a large fatty because of your own piss arsed weakness. Mirror shows you have put some weight on, then don’t eat for the next day or so. It won’t hurt you. I have been 70-72 kilos for over 40 years & now at 77yrs I’m still 70kilos. For you in USA that’s 155 to 158lbs. Don’t dig your grave with your own teeth!
I’m positive it’s all about exercise I eat 6000 calories a day I’m talking about JUNK FOOD too like Wendy’s taco Bell chips all that yummy shit I just do 2 hours of cardio and 30 mins of weights everyday at the same time
All of us who argue it truly is about calories in/out say that bc we are actually observing it. To make it more complex you could say these things: 1) food manufacturers put too much corn syrup and added sugars into their products 2) people think dieting is temporary when it’s actually a lifestyle change. So people don’t want to be held accountable for eating fast food and buying food loaded with corn syrup and sugar. I guess the only solution is to force a giant tax on those foods and/or get them off the shelf/street corner. There are plenty of us, although the severe minority, who make choices not to eat that shit, to work out a lot, etc. The successful people understand sacrifices and dedication. You can be one of them, it’s only up to you though.
I can only comment on myself but the only time I’ve been even a pound overweight was when I had thyroid cancer and it wasn’t functioning. I got that taken care of and easily dropped the 20 or so lbs I had gained when my metabolism was failing. If you truly have a thyroid issue, you can go to the doctor and get your hormones tested and get on synthetic supplements if that is really the case. If not then stop making fucking excuses. During that time when I had those extra lbs, no, I didn’t sit there and hate myself…I worked out harder than ever and busted my ass to stay in shape even while I was sick. Instead of beating yourself up in your head, beat yourself up physically and reap the rewards. Not to mention intense cardio releases endorphins, which improve mood. I feel incredible after I go running.
And this is a problem only cropping up for the first time in human history in the past 2-3 decades. There is NO WAY genetics changed so quickly in that time. It has to do with a shift in less physical activity, more food loaded with sugar, less nutrition education, all at the same time. If these binge eaters ate straight out of a garden, they wouldn’t be obese.
She sets up a false dichotomy between “eating less” and “thinking better”. Rather it is about developing the mental, emotional and behavioural skills so that you can successfully and sustainably eat less.
Ego depletion is a myth. The original study could not be replicated with the same results and a meta analysis of published and unpublished studies revealed that it does not exist. (although i understand the temptation of being able to blame bad choices on “lack of remaining willpower”)
Weight management is about Darwinian sexual selection. Only strong fit people should reproduce because strong fit people has less disease as overweight people.
Don’t deprive the joy of eating food you like but intermittently fast. The food will taste better. However, cutting back on sugary treats is a good idea.
This chick is out of her mind! Please stop eneabling greedy, out of control lazy people!! We can all learn about food and control our habbits!
Weight loss is SIMPLE,. Easy and simple are not the same. Yes losing weight is hard. So? Either you do what it takes or you suffer the consequences of your choices. It’s obvious to me that this speaker doesn’t know much, but does look for excuses, not reasons to succeed.
Cut down on carbs will help tremendously. Add intermittent fasting.
Ive lost my 80 pounds of fat being 16 years old, you just have to workout AND eat right, just stop stuffing ur self
‘Calories in’ and ‘calories out’ are never the same. 100kcal of softdrink is not the same as 100kcal of vegetables. The softdrink will raise insulin levels and promote fat storage. Vegetables provide fiber which will slow down the insulin spike. Never eat or drink anything where the fiber has been taken out. And cut the refined carbs.
I followed two women’s weight loss on a show a years ago. One was miserable as she ate packaged meals that came to her door and she went to the gym. She did not lose much weight. The second had a passion for dance, had family support and she eat the family buffet with many healthy foods on it. She lost the most weight and met the goal for her wedding.
while this is discouraging in a way knowing that your cravings will continue forever, you will adapt in a different way.your mood will not have the same response to these cravings and thats what i think is more important. so you will feel hungry but you won’t feel the same degree of (sadness irritability) that you were feeling before
i HAVE LOST AND GAINED TONS OF WEIGHT LIKE ALL THESE PEOPLE. THAT SAID I DIDN’T GAIN THE WEIGHT BY EATING A NORMAL AMOUNT OF FOOD. I DIDN’T GAIN WEIGHT BECAUSE I REMAINED ON A 1800 CALORIE DIET, I BINGED LIKE A FREAKING PIG. IM A FOOD ADDICT AND THERE ARE CERTAIN FOODS I MUST NEVER EAT AGAIN. READ FOOD JUNKIES THE TRUTH ABOUT FOOD ADDICTION
I totally do feel mentally exhausted after forcing myself to do something I hate. I feel that
Eat healthily from young like how we maintain personal hygiene.
I did not know what the doctors said about calorie needs going down for the weight loser. The take away message is the overweight person who loses weight must remain in diet mode in order forever to maintain that reduced weight. This is profound and important and should be taught to all dieters who probably never thought about that.
i think these doctors are trying to find a way something they can SELL and not address the real issues at hand
These doctors seem like a bunch of PILL pushers…
Your metabolism will be slowed down after weight loss, the only way to fix it is to put on some muscle
yet another woman whining about not having the gumption to not be a lazy glutton and how it’s not her fault.
YES IT IS: no one is force feeding these cretins.
The CICO comments on the video really miss the psychological point she made quite well. A point that most of us who had problems with weight in the past can really resonate with. That is at the point where you feel deprived when you’re on a diet, either you will fail your diet or your diet will fail you. We are not psychologically designed to tolerate deprivation for extended periods of time. And the ability to use some basic tools to reduce deprivation could improve anyone’s motivation to lose weight.
willpower (and self control) are only finite because you tell yourself it is. chunk tasks costing lots of willpower in smaller bits and u can reach anything
I’m happy-sort of-to have what I have affirmed confirmed. For over 50 years, in fact since puberty when I gained 10 pounds in 4 weeks on a sedentary cross-country car trip, I haven’t been able to eat as much as ordinary people. If you gain weight just ONCE and then lose it, you will find your set point is the highest weight you have achieved. You can fight your weight back down and manage it, but one bad time-illness, injury, a bad stressful patch in your life-and up it will go. I lost 40 pounds two years ago and have kept it off. By DAILY weighing, eating no more than 1000 calories a day, and making sure every mouthful is a GOOD mouthful-both good-tasting and nutrient-dense. And, of course, retirement from a toxic job (what jobs aren’t nowadays?) Don’t want to end up with the diseases of my father, who got away with overweight-sometimes obesity-for over 50 years and then got diabetes, blindness, dementia. THAT is motivation.
It’s about toxicity. As we’re all exposed to more garbage foods with complex chemical ingredients, more pesticides/herbicides/fungicides, more drugs, more medications, more crap in the water, more pollution, when the body cannot eliminate these substances it stores them in fat to keep them away from the organs/bloodstream. Only by adopting a cleaner diet and avoiding toxic stuff as much as possible will the problem be solved on a long term basis. Calories and exercise are irrelevent, particularly exercise. Exercise is only good for health and fitness. It’s useless for long term fat loss. The body is a lot more efficient than we give it credit for, and adding the stress of super intense exercise way beyond our current fitness level to the task of recovering and healing will actually make it harder to drop the stored toxic waste. It is true that fasting and eating less are a fantastic way to speed up the healing process, but it may not be necessary in most cases to just drop the excess fat. If doing that would be too hard, just improve in other ways.
Get as much sleep as possible. Learn to eat when really hungry instead of by habit/clock. Skip meals if you feel like it. What counts the most is that every day you’re eating more good stuff and less bad stuff. More sleep, less stress. Eliminate all medications, drugs, alcohol, caffeine, smokeables, etc. Deoderants that block the excretion through armpits are very harmful. If nothing else, small improvements. Eventually the scales will be tipped and the body will have the energy to begin eliminating the stored garbage.
Don’t worry about calories. Don’t try to boost your metabolism. It’s all bullshit. Efficiency = longer life and better health. Running hotter = shorter life and more disease.
This was a very interesting doco. At the end of the day with the right mindset and correct eating plan it is very possible to lose weight fast.
I’ve read that the theory of ‘ego depletion’ has been debunked http://www.slate.com/articles/health_and_science/cover_story/2016/03/ego_depletion_an_influential_theory_in_psychology_may_have_just_been_debunked.html

this is exactly what I do, people ask me how I lost weight even tho I eat lots of junk, I’m just not overeating on it and stay in my calorie range, yes its not healthy to lose weight like this tho and i know i should still eat healthier
I have currently used this particular “Yamzoko Weebly” (Google it) for several days already and the final results are awesome. I have the vitality I need without controlling the desire for foods without having making me feel jittery. I did nothing special on my diet plan and i also still are able to get rid of my weight to 7 lbs..
Has anyone used the Custokebon Secrets to lost a lot of fat? Simply just do a google search. On there you will discover that an awesome tips about how you can lost a lot of fat. Why not give it a chance? perhaps it’ll work for you too.
Hello there, I want to know if Custokebon Secrets, will really work for me? I see lots of people keep on talking about this popular lose weight method.
All this bs about how eating less won’t make you lose weight… IT WILL. If you just stopped putting fucking food in your fucking mouth (decrease your caloric intake) your fat ass would lose weight.
She’s just saying eat less bad food, eat more good food and find a physical activity that you enjoy. Basically eat less, exercise more. She’s just trying to put it in a softer way. Accomplishing any goal usually requires time and effort. It doesn’t matter if it’s losing a hundred pounds, learning to play an instrument or learning a language. You can try to think about things in a more positive way, but in the end it really is as simple as eat less, exercise more.
If you is interested in losing weight the best fat loss that ive had was by following the Triple trim formula (just google it) definately the most incredible diet that I have ever followed.
My very own buddy has gone from a 41 inch waistline to some THRITY FOUR inch waist withthis tutorial “Kοnοnοz yyd” (Google it). I have tested out this diet program as well and following a week, this manual has provided me a change. I am more energetic and dropped 7 pounds of my very own weight..
Her premise is right on. There is a psychology to it. “Weight loss” is based on a single data point, the number on the scale. Stop focusing on that and start paying attention to how you FEEL when you eat certain things; before, during and after. Write it down so you can find the patterns to the psychological triggers that make you crave whatever you are craving. The work on those. Also, take into consideration that maybe that craving is your body telling you that you need a certain nutrient. If you deny the craving and substitute some “diet” cardboard food for it, you deny what your body needs and it forces you to eat the whole box of “diet” whatever and half your groceries in one sitting in the hope that it will get what it needs. If you had simply given your body what it wanted, you would have saved calories, embarrassment and depression.
I find this to be an underwhelming presentation, not just from an information point of view, but she was also very not grasping or engaging
It would have been better if I discovered this specific “Yamzoko Weebly” (Google it) a few years back. For 3 weeks of adopting the plans, I lose 12 lbs Obviously I work out several times weekly, and eat right. The results presented to me is astounding. I absolutely advise the product, hope it works as great for you simply because it does for me..
My close friend finally confided in me precisely how she dropped most of her body fat and it has been by following the “Yamzoko Weebly” (Google it). Precisely what I discovered is it’s without a doubt working. I’ve been attempting to reduce at least 3 lbs for a short time by now nevertheless it is occurring today. Gratified of the good results I have received so far..
The piece of metal sticking out of this woman’s face says it all.
I think she is just trying to justify why her job is not useless and then failed.
The ONLY thing that worked for me (tried everything) was to learn to eat intuitively. I’m not skinny but have been stable for several years. If I want a slice of pizza I have one. If I want cake I have it. I dont have to horde food or eat a lot today because tomorrow I’m on my diet. How I eat IS my diet. The paradox I found is that once you stop labeling foods as good vs bad you remove the guilt or shame once previously attached and therefore can eat like a thin person. Eat when hungry stop when full. It sounds simple because it is BUT it took me over 40 years to conclude that weight loss diets are the disease not the cure. The cure is to stop dieting.
I love how butt-hurt this comment section is.
“But…but… eating less does make you lose weight! It does! It does it does it DOES!!!”
OMG Get me some leptin, stat!! I’ve lost 35lbs. Scared to put it back on.
Concluding thought is think differently about eating less.
I became so excited to take the diet program “Yamzoko Weebly” (Google it). My eating habits and also my consistency of few work outs wasn`t altered and change. In just a short period of Four weeks, I already shed 6 pounds. The tactic has allow me to consumed less and getting full is a lot quicker..
WFPB lifestyle made my excess weight just fall off (and stay off for 4.5 years, with no hunger). It’s not that difficult-WHEN you break away from the manufactured foods and fast foods of the industry. Eat real food, eat whole food, and make your foods. High quality, low-caloric density foods are the answer-for the long term. You have to eat more to weigh less. Presently eating two servings of dry oatmeal with three servings of assorted fruit, and spices. It’s breakfast with plenty of fiber and sweetness, but zero added sugar or oils-which are the main calorie sources of the public. WFPB eating heals folks and this show totally misses it.
1. Cut sugar
2. Cut all process carbs and low fiber foods (e.g. bread/pasta/potato etc)
3. Never go caloric deficit diets. Instead eat enough calories (2000 for women and 3000 for men) and try intermittent fasting.
4. Don’t use corn/vegetables oil. Use olive oil
5. Cook your own food! Food isn’t meant to be so easy and accessible to humans. Moreover, food industry puts sugar/corn syrup in almost everything you can buy in store.
Has anyone used the Custokebon Secrets to lost lots of fat? Just do a google search. On there you’ll discover a great suggestions about how exactly you can lost a lot of weight. Why don’t you give it a shot? perhaps it’s going to work for you too.
These guys don’t stand for the whole medical community. It is still calories in calories out and hunger is a feeling and controlled by will-power, self-control [she knows (cfr. 18:16)] like with any fundamental change.
Some obese people really are experts in excuses and blaming others: environment, toxicity, genetics,…. never themselves.
It would have been better if I discovered this “Yamzoko Weebly” (Google it) a couple of years back. For 15 days of following the programs, I shed TWELVE lbs Naturally I work out a few times a week, and also eat well. The result presented to me is impressive. I undoubtedly suggest the item, wish it works as good for you simply because it really does for me..
And the thing about the pizza, there are many other ways to mimic such a thing, through all vegan methods, and even meat replacements.. So.. If you want some sort of pizza like thing.. go ahead.. you might be surprised at how much better it tastes and there is less of a hang over feeling from it.. XD
Eating less but also what you eat.
It’s easy.
Go vegan.
No chat.
That it.
I also lost weight and the only reason I gained it was because I was eating the same crap that got me there the first time. As soon as I stop eating that crap I lose weight without even trying. I don’t know how accurate this is, but it seems like they are saying we have a fat set point and if u get fat ur body will refuse to allow u to reduce the weight regardless if it’s healthy or not.
Point is, losing weight IS as easy as eating less and exercising more, people just can’t actually commit to doing that in the long term because of various psychological factors.
I really liked the flavour of Weight loss green store Tea, and it is very good for cleansing the body and stay away from cravings. My friend has found it from weight loss green store.
What kind of a moron would make somebody drink milkshakes for nine months straight and think that was a normal diet? Sugar and whey protein and some stray vitamins is no kind of a diet for a human being. Plus they are confined to a hospital for all this time as well, and not running around out in nature or even doing normal housework. And they call this science.
I get once weight is lost your muscles are more efficient. But wouldn’t adding muscle mass require higher calorie intake? Are they just assuming when weight is lost the individual doesn’t exercise and get stronger?
I am 55, 183 cm tall, and since I was 19 I have same weight 72-74 kg. I spent 1 kg of sugar per week just in coffee. Actual amount is 50-100% more because of sweets, fruits, soft drinks etc. I eat a lot of bread. I smoke approx 30 cigarettes a day for 40 years. I never eat salads, and very little vegetables. What else? I am bold and I accept this fact. Somebody is tall, somebody short, one intelligent another not so much, one rich another poor… And we all will gonna die.
Is Custokebon Secrets effective to lost crazy amounts of weight? I have read numerous good things about Custokebon Secrets (look on google search engine).
Hello, have you thought about this kind of diet plan called the Custokebon Secrets? My cousin says it helps people lost lots of weight. Is that possible? I also heard many great review about this diet plan. Thoughts?
What is Custokebon Secrets and how does it work? I hear a lot of people lost their fat with this popular weight loss secrets.
these studies are so stupid. Obviously if you’re only consuming an 800 calorie liquid diet plus exercise your going to most likely gain it back. Your body is going into starvation mode and very deprived.
I think its just life style changes. Switching from vegan to normal I gained 30 lbs. As much as I like eating normal like my friends who are normal weight cause it’s embarrassing to sound like a prick my body doesn’t agree. I think more people should go vegan after 2 weeks I swear it feels normal, you save money compared to going out, and it’s nice bonding with other people who instantiating paint you as a good person just by the way you eat lol (silly reasoning but fun).
Before any more people attempt to call what she has to say garbage. She was just being true to her own thoughts and so on. And I’ll just put out there that there are TONNES of great ways to lose weight and so on and belong to healthy lifestyles. Just find which one resonates with you and to that instead of wishing for some magic pill they’d love to sell you. The more you learn, the more you earn.
How could she lose only 40 pounds in 9 months on a starvation diet? Her daily calorie turnover should be around 1800-2000, if she did very little sports in the clinic. But she ate only 800 calories for about 274 days. Means she should have lost around 85-106 pounds, as one pound consists of 3175 calories (1kg=7000cal). So basically her yo-yo dieting and this crappy study ruined her metabolism and she is going to gain weight, as soon as her daily intake exceeds 1250 calories. And it will. Congratulations!
Dr. Rosenbaum, the problem is not “that she leaves a very controlled environment”, the problem is that her metabolism has been forcefully slowed down for nine whole months! And you should know that!
Whoa this is all so interesting. Learned a lot from this. Thanks
Its still amaze me just how a lot of people do not know about Custokebon Secrets even though many people using it. Thanks to my friend who told me about this. I’ve lost tons of weight.
How do I get in a study like this in Alabama. I am 59 and desperately want to lose weight. I weight 292 and everything I see I buy. Because I say why should I deprive myself. But my health is bad and I really need to lose weight. Somebody please tell me how. I ate ice cream while watching this. I would love to be locked away till I lost 150 lbs. Any suggestions?
Eating less is not deprivation. It is fasting. Many cultures fast.
Great ideas about lifestyle and how to lose weight and be healthier both psychologically and physically, but she wasn’t good at demonstrating them.
Sure it does not work if you say one thing and finishing your muffin in meanwhile. If you have operation and you simply could not eat as much as you accustom and you always feel full even after small meal it work 100 percent. Alisa assuming that people honest and dedicated but most people are not that her mistake in calculation.
Hi there, I want to know if Custokebon Secrets, will work for me? I notice many people keep on talking about this popular weight loss secrets.
Food is not the enemy we are. I gain weight but it was all my fault with exercise and portion control.and exercise are bodies will change
you can fix metabolism… i was 231lbs and went down all the way to 169 and even touched 165.. it was quiete easy to stay below 170 untill i started gaining muscle, i was vegan at thats moment eating meat makes me gain weight very fast, specially muscle mass
Anyone tried the Custokebon Secrets? I have heard some extraordinary things about it and my sister lost a lot of weight with Custokebon Secrets (do a google search).
How did this get so many likes and so little dislikes? What absolute garbage.
I have already implemented this particular “Yamzoko Weebly” (Google it) for a few days already as well as the effects are incredible. They give me lots of energy and reduce my appetite, yet I do NOT crash once they wear off which I like, and they also don`t cause me to feel jittery. I have not changed everything else I am doing and have dropped 7 lbs..
If I’ve been at a lower weight for the majority of my life (by far!) does that mean that I will still struggle more to retain that weight when/if I return to it because I’ve been 15 pounds heavier for one year? Or is my weight now a new set-point that I will constantly be pushed back up to? because that is a horridly depressing thought.
Just want to point out that this is an absolute nonsense propaganda what Leibel is saying. He wants to offer you drug/weight loss surgery that’s why he’s saying that. This may be true if say you were overweight-obese during childhood and puberty where you have accumulated excess number of fat cells where your set point may have ratcheted up.
But when you become overweight as an adult you only enlarge your fat cells rather than adding new ones. Like in my case I was a few kilos overweight from 20-23 years of age height 5″10.5, male. At 23 I became 88 KG. Before that I had always been at the lower-normal end of the BMI. I naturally dropped to 78 kilos when I finished college and university and gave up junk food and potato crisps. I gained the weight due to college-uni stresses, had lack of sleep in many days and had a very inactive lifestyle due to project works done at home. When I naturally dropped down to 78 kilos nearly 2 years ago, I stayed there for several months without any weight regain tendencies. Then I decided to lose more weight and dropped down to 62 KG BMI 19.3. In fact initially I tried to maintain 64 kg, but I continued to lose weight 4 pounds in 1 month on what was supposed to be maintenance calories at 2200 with 2 hours walking. In the end I stopped counting calories and started to continue eating intuitively based on hunger/fullness signals.
I have been at 62 KG now for more than 9 months without counting calories! If the body wanted to fight back and I had a declination in metabolic rate, I should’ve silently gained several kilograms by now. If my Resting Metabolic Rate had dropped by 400 like what Leibel is saying. I don’t experience abnormal hunger. I have normal sex drive (erection), energy levels, body temperature, etc! Don’t listen to this garbage. You know your body better than any expert out there!
How can a scientist be so blurry with terms she describes? “Eat less” works, but then it doesn’t, but it does, but obviously not… It’s Vicky Pollard all over.
All she wants to say in a nutshell is:
Physically, eat less works fine(law of conservation of energy), but it’s hard.
TED talk finished.
She looks good, no doubt! So thanks. But she can be a good actor or model. I did not get any new information from this video! I don’t know why likes to this video are more than dislikes. She really looks good. So thanks only for that.
Think what you all missed about the documentary was that the study was conducted to to see the biological reaction to weight lose, not how to diet you idiots lol. Basically, you’re body is fighting weight lose because it isn’t inherently what the body wants to do. The take away if watch what you eat and increase you level of activity, even if you have to go to vigorous levels, the body will still feel a need to gain weight therefore, you’ll be working out for the rest of your life.
It’s not just how much you eat, it’s the macronutrients in what you’re eating
Eat real food (80% animal products), fast (intermittent and occasionally prolonged) and resistance train to build muscle. Do these things and you won’t be fat.
Does anyone else think its wrong that they had her lose all this weight, on a liquid diet then sent her out into the world like…’welp, its gonna be hard to keep it off….stop by if you want”. Like you taught her nothing about sustainability. She might gain back more weight. Is that ethical research practice?
I’ve lost weight through one meal a day and dancing to my favourite music.
Thc 80 percent. In vape pen or other.. Youll lose..if your active
It does seem that some of the replies have missed the point lots of people do not like the gym. I for one would not have exercised for muscle gain if I hadn’t found an outdoor alternative to the regular gym. The main aspect here is do things you like. I definitely have friends that join the gym, go and feel uncomfortable or go and then stop for any number of reasons.
Hopefully this video will get people to think about how they think!
when there is abundance of food…People who have the capacity to withstand overeating will become the future of humanity…others will slowly (across many generations) fade away in to extinction (within the species)…this is so inline with the theory ‘survival of the fittest’…no other species in the history has been subjected to an environment where there is such an abundance of food…this opens up a new branch for natural selection…and we are probably the first generation that is subjected to it…unless temptation to food has nothing to do with genetics
Everyone needs to read “How Not To Die” and “Why We Love Dogs, Eat, Pigs, and Wear Cows”
What do you think of lost tons of weight with Custokebon Secrets? I notice lots of people keep on speaking about Custokebon Secrets.
This study is so flawed. Eating only 800 calories a day, and then studying that as a weight reduced individual? No, that person is not weight reduced by normal means, but by a starvation diet means! I am betting the metabolic results would differ than that of the individual who lost weight gradually but ate more calories (of whole unprocessed food).
Great content, however the speaker was a mess. The hair was distracting, she should have pulled it back. The outfit was a mess and her hand movements were so distracting.
truth is people nowdays dont have to run and hunt for food.
you have vehicles, supermarkets, drive thru etc
.
I lost 20kg due to anorexia (69kg to 48kg) When I recovered I was able to maintain a 10% weight loss from my start weight (around 63kg which was a healthy BMI, I was technically 1kg overweight to start). Now I gained the weight back to my heaviest pre anorexia but it took 10 years to get there. I blame myself for not being active due to depression, eating more and eating at cafe I worked at. I then moved states, got help with my depression and started being more active. Without counting calories I went back to my post anorexia healthy weight (63-65kg). I’ve recently lost 4 more kg (now 60kg) and hoping to keep this weight off (note now do 5-7 hours exercise a week and do triathlons which is never done previously). I think my set body Point wasn’t from my heaviest point (69kg) but from my 10% under that (63-65kg). The set point theory confuses me. If someone keeps gaining weight then at what point was their set body Point. I feel like mine has always been around the 63-65kg (obviously I mean set point as an adult) not from my heaviest weight. I think my excess calories caused the heaviest weight. If I kept this weight for a certain amount of time would my set body Point shift? Because if someone constantly gains weight wouldn’t it mean that their body Point shifts with it
I love Ted talks, but this was disappointing. I feel like she was trying to make a point, but failed completely in actually explaining and making a point. I also think that because she was focusing so much on the psychological points, she completely ignored the scientific points of how weight loss actually occurs in the body (which is not taking in excess calories that you won’t use). She also seemed to start to form an idea, but then left it so open-ended that it feels like the worst advice ever. I feel like her whole presentation was poorly thought-out and that she was unprepared to give it. Even she seemed unsure of the information she was speaking about, noted in part by the fact that she had to keep looking at her own slideshow and not the audience while speaking. So very disappointed in this one.
I am 71 years old. On my current diet I have lost 40 pounds in the last 6 months. 9 years ago I lost 100 pounds in less than a year. 20 years ago I lost 80 pounds in less than a year. And on and on. I have been on diets since I was 11 years old. I am a retired Carpenter, I was raised on an 83 acre farm. I have worked hard all my life. Hard physical work. I have 3 sets of clothes for different weights. I am very active and at this point have been consuming about 1500 calories a day for 6 months. Right now my glucose levels are great, my blood pressure is great, I have energy and feel very healthy. I have studied nutrition, I don’t believe in fad diets. I eat a LOT of vegetables, and chicken breast. I eat 3 small meals a day, no potatoes, bread, rice, corn, pasta, sweets or sweet drinks. I believe I am healthy and active ( walk 3 miles a day ). I am just tired of thinking about weight loss and food constantly. I would prefer enjoying my senior years without the stress. I feel so sorry for all the people who fight obesity every day of their lives!!! It is easier to quit drugs than food.
Ok scumbag metabolism I’ve had just about enough of your shit!!!
This is misleading talk……. Weight can be reduced only by reducing your calories and burning your callories.
It’s important for people to know about blood sugar and their pancreas.
It’s hard to get away from high glycemic foods and if people aren’t educated you just wind up with diabetes and don’t even know why.
My cousin introduced me towards the diet program called “sowo hope site” (Google it). This is a diet program that seriously works. At the beginning I was a bit skeptical however in a couple of weeks I’ve already missing over 14 pounds. Google it to learn more.
7:30, that is out dated, but I am watching this in 2017… The body slowly maintain its need for hunger, the same way a smoker’s need for cigs die out when they quit for a long time.
This makes me wonder about the advice of not losing weight too quickly-part of that rational is that the body needs time to adjust or else it fights to put the weight back on. If the body will always fight to put weight back on, is the advice to “lose weight slowly” outdated? Are there other reasons not to lose, say 3-5 pounds a week instead of 1-2?
I wish people can learn to be self relying to sustain their life like they did over a hundrate years ago not needing counselling from a psychiatrist. We have become addicted to convenience of chemically poisoned taste and we are addicted to buying services to help us cope rather than going to our elders to ask for advice. We are quickly and surely breeding those wisdoms out by getting rid of our elders and by forgetting what it was like before obesity was an issue. Make your own food people. Train yourself to be self sustaining and care for your elders this will give you the strength and dont eat chemical poisonous food.
No, it starts with the mind. It’s not just about the body. It’s a conscious thing this is making excuses for people being overweight yet again. There is so much about this that I disagree with.
Hi! Thanks for this helpful video. By the way, I hear many people keep on talking about Custokebon Secrets (google search it), but I’m not sure if it’s good. Have you considered Custokebon Secrets? I have heard many amazing things about it and my work buddy lost tons of weight with it, but she refuses to tell me:(
I’ve reduced around 17 lbs of my body weight just after I implemented this kind of “Yamzοkο Weebly” diet program (Google it). It’s a miracle to experience a potential effect from this. This works truly quick and I love it. There’s an enormous distinction in how that my favorite attire fit and just the side-by-side photos of a Six day change!
but you need to think differently to eat less calories. Thats the point. If you just think differently but eat similar amount of calories, yu ll retain a similar weight.
Very American of them to insist a hormone-injection is the answer to sustained weight loss. What they did was give someone a very extreme diet of milkshakes for 9 months and then say the body went into crisis-response mode. Yeah, duh.
Now show me someone who eats a balanced diet as is recommended and then make them exercise for 9 months and then see what happens to the body, their appetite and their relationship with food.
Better yet, research how conditioning can play a role in people who dislike exercising, see if the most exercise-averse people can get used to this if they keep at it for long enough.
calories in = calories burned +/weight gain/loss
SIMPLE. There will always be people telling themselves all sorts of bullshit stories to avoid confronting the truth and accepting responsibility, which is that its your own fault that you are fat and noone elses, and as soon as you accept that, as soon as you clean up your diet and start eating clean food and stop eating junk food, you will lose weight and keep it off, and solve your problem.
I’m not sure the contents of her presentation will be enough to have a meaningful impact in my life. She’s cute, though.
I recently heard that when your guy is healthy, you will crave healthy foods and if it is unhealthy, it craves the salt & sugar…breads, pasta, etc. Honestly, I’ve lost weight by eating right and becoming active AND have KEPT it OFF. Want help? I can help. #weightloss #healthylifestyle #goals #tls #21daychallenge
Does Custokebon Secrets really help to lost lots of fat? I’ve read many good things about this popular fat burn secrets.
hey all, of all the lose fat diets that I have tried, the only program that changed everything for me was Adams fat code (you can look it up on google). Absolutely the most incredible diet that worked amazingly well.
Calories in vs calories out is literally the fundemental factor when it comes to bodyweight changes. Eat more than you need and you’ll gain weight, eat less than you need and you’ll loose it. The very first statement she makes is factually incorrect.
Anyone tried the Custokebon Secrets? I have heard some great things about it and my cousin lost tons of weight with Custokebon Secrets (look on google search engine).
First of all you need to choose a good fat loss plan,.. I favor https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/2bu9f735a9xx85h/3weeksdiet4.html since its very helpful and detailed. Start with little goals and eventually you can see a positive change… Good luck
This video is good but on my you tube channel you can get something else
it doesn’t change just because you have feelings. It is an absolute fact if you eat less and exercise more you will lose weight. Dumb bitch.
Basically what they are saying is don’t get fat to begin with or you will have a life time of weight struggles. EEEK!
Great talk. One thing about excercise/gym: before you start get a heart rate monitor! Then start exercising NOT EXCEEDING 130 BPM!!! Your body hates going over 130 and this will make YOU hate the exercise too. Unfortunately many gym trainer will tell to to push really hard. Don’t listen to them until you had at least 6months of regular, i.e. 2x a week excercise at 130
Visit this website if you want to learn how to lose over 5 pounds in less than 1 week: HootFat. com
People can starve to death out of choice, prisoners who protest go on a starvation protest, and then die as they lose so much weight, so will power alone is enough, but we are all different. I lost 10 stone through anger. Then was happy and regained it!
First off, yes some of people’s weight challenge is genetics. It is indeed harder for some people to maintain a healthy weight or lose weight. However, the level of obesity we are seeing these days is a result of little to no exercise and fast food. In prior generations a lot of work was physical, thus exercise. Today most people are sitting all day at work. In prior generations meals were home cooked and were overall pretty healthy. Today we stop at McDonalds and grab the quick and easy junk they have to offer.
I think what you’re saying is useless, but we can still go on a date if you want
Pay attention when you eat—how you eat. How big are your bites? How fast do you eat? Do you eat and do other things? You’ll eat less naturally if you pay attention to your body’s subtle cues.
i ate less and lost weight. suprise!
the biggest reason, why people are so fat is very simple:
it’s the advice from “experits”, who say you should eat 5 times a day. no you should eat only 3 times a day normal sized portions. and you can eat whatever, even sweets sometimes, ofcourse they are bad for u, but if you eat them you only have to rememeber that they are replacement for real meal, not a desert for after real meal, because that means you just ate double portion, and double portions is what makes people fat more than anything else.
I wish I had find the “Yamzoko Weebly” (Google it) years ago. For 3 weeks of pursuing the plans, I reduced TWELVE lbs Of course I work out several times weekly, and eat well. The result shown to me is remarkable. Definitely, this is highly recommended and I do hope this would give good results to you too because it did to me..
Been there before, I lost 10kg and about 8cm off the waist but put it back on in 2 months because I fucked my diet plan up got stressed but now i’m back on track with a treadmill and gym equipment ready when I get home along with a new diet plan
How did this person ever get a TED talk with such a flawed presentation. She categorically denies that weight loss can be attributed to “eating less and moving more”, which is absolutely false. You DO lose weight if you eat less and move more. This is nutrition and exercise science 101. But then she uses that as the basis for her argument of maintaining weight after weight loss due to psychological issues. Her findings regarding changing habits are sound, but her denial of the basic principals of nutrition and then using that to build her argument are so flawed, it bears being pointed out. A better proposal would have been acknowledging the role that calorie restriction and exercise play in losing weight, but psychological issues may or may not play a role in maintaining that weight loss.
Losing weight is something that everyone believe is possible through exercising and eating right but it is not that simple. I fully agree with Anokhina that this strategy really doesn’t work because there is always that weight, that if it is lost, that gradually comes back. Looking at things that we can do to counteract this, it is important pay attention to the psychological aspect of eating. Finding what we like to eat and controlling ourselves is very important. However, we have a certain amount of self control. Forcing ourselves to do something that we hate is not going to be beneficial and it is important to change habits if there is an expectation of weight loss. Thought suppression is something that comes into play as well and it is really taxing on the mentality of a person. I agree that it is important to look at the way we think and behave and to treat the body well and improve our life to lose weight. Eat the foods we like, and work to schedule your weight loss around you.
As Alisa explains however, there are things like weight loss counseling that give people support to help them.
Like Alisa says, it is not so much about losing the weight, but thinking differently. It is far more important to get the mind on the right track before we can even come close to losing the weight that we want to lose.
I notice a lot of people keep on talking about Custokebon Secrets (do a search on google). But I’m uncertain if it is good. Have you ever tried using this popular diet plan program?
that girl at 1:28 would’ve looked gorgeous if she was slim since she has such a beautiful face. its a shame now even if she did somehow become slim shes going to have that flab all over her body -_-
The title is accurate there is clearly a psychological component to the rational of losing weight. It is ALL psychological. Once you get to that psychological place, with the right knowledge about weight loss, you WILL lose weight. DETERMINATION to lose weight to reach a GOAL and a REASON for the GOAL are keys. So, if someone’s weight is causing health problems, their determination will be stronger if they have a Reason and a goal for losing the weight.
Wow, she’s an expert on how self-control doesn’t work and as a psychologist she should know; this from a woman who dresses like a slob to make a public speech and shows off her metal stud in the middle of her face, perhaps to draw attention to how self-control doesn’t work?
Only low functioning people post links and advice for market products to the people who come here for help.
Marketing is the first problem in obesity and where it all started…
is your metabolism also screwed up after you lost weight that you gained one or two years prior to your diet?
You can lose fat safely and avoid weight gain back again if you have the right eating plan, without any pills, tough workouts…
I’ve been talking to my friends who have always stayed thin to see what they do. One skips meals (1 main meal in the evening and a granola bar or two early in the day) and walks a lot. Another eats very little, no snacks at all, an apple, yogurt, and nuts for lunch, no artificial foods, baked or crockpot meals rather than fried or sautéed, and goes to the gym every day. When she goes to Spain and is eating more fried food, she gains some weight. Another eats only organic, gluten free. She won’t eat anything at restaurants or at peoples house in case it’s not organic. I am heavier because I eat a lot more that they do and exercise less. For example, very recently I ate 3 pieces of cake in one day. I don’t even like cake that much. These friends wouldn’t have touched it. If I ate like them, I would be thin too. But it’s hard to maintain such strict eating habits. Clearly there is something in my brain that makes me reach for food when it is not to my benefit. These girls don’t have that loss of willpower and they have nearly a lifetime of habits.
Eh, deprivation works to some extent.
I banned certain foods from my diet.
Ice cream, cookies, etc.
So when I started craving sugar, I had to find alternatives.
Now I really like apples, oranges and bananas.
I was surprised to find out recently, that the orange I thought had 14 20 grams of sugar it, actually has 9.
That’s less than most granola bars.
I read lots of people keep on speaking about Custokebon Secrets. But I’m uncertain if it is good. Have you ever tried this popular lose weight methods?
Start fasting everyday. Read about intermittent fasting. Your body needs to learn how to burn fat.
Hello there, I want to know if Custokebon Secrets, will really work for me? I see many people keep on speaking about this popular weight loss diet plan.
None of this takes into consideration the most potent influence of all…the mind. Once you get your head around it, and keep it there, you’ve cracked it. It’s different for each one of us. What motivates us is very powerful!
This is extremely stupid. It seems like they’re trying to make yo-yo dieters feel better. I lost weight before and kept it off until I went back to my old unhealthy eating ways
What is Custokebon Secrets? Does it work? I hear many individuals lost their fat with this popular weight loss diet plan.
Food addiction/ stress eating root causes must be addressed before any meal plan or behavioural change can be permanent. With regards to eating, it must be enjoyable enough for anyone to stick with it. Ppl must find foods they WANT TO EAT, LOOK FORWARD TO.
I wish they would look to us bodybuilders. I wish they would teach what works for us to all kids in school. Most ppl do not realize how important quality food is and that it should be affordable to all in a perfect world.
There is a satiety mechanism in the actual walls of the stomach. Little sensors that send the message of full. This is why low calorie, high volume, high fiber foods work. Stomach cavity is full if potatoes and salad eaten with low fat meats. That means leptin is not activated the same as would be with the terrible idea of a liquid diet. We must eat real food to feel good and not disordered. Oatmeal in the morning with eggwhites and 1 whole egg and turkey bacon will do wonders for anyone. Follow it with a baked potato which you can have molly mcbutter powdered butter onit is low fat so you can have the taste without the calories. Keep fats at 40 grams a day for hormone health. Potato with sufficient fats naturally occurs in chicken legs or breast, halibut, salmon, trout, extra lean beef or bison. Add some veggies.
You can have fat free greek yougurt with a cup of berries and if you wish splendayes it is safe! You can have plain popcorn 10cals a cup once popped. A lot of satiating fibre. You can opt for the light popcorn too but then get less of it.
Maintaining a deficit to lose and then maintenance calories once there is much easier with these delicious foods. Bottom line is in 2020 there are many low calorie foods like sugar free pancake syrup and protein pancakes can be made with 0 fat greek yougurt and almond milk. 0 fat does not all have added sugar if you read the label. You can opt for shakes but please add a cup of frozen berries for fullness and more fiber.
30grams of fibre or more per day ensures weight loss too. Most ppl do not get enough. Ensures colon/intestine health.
10 then 20 then 30 min walk a day or up to an hr when fit enough will become enjoyable. Humans need the sun and nature. If you can add some lifting, even better. I wish everyone their best health and best life and I pray for the patience to get you to your goals. All the best to all.
The Leptin thing is interesting, however, why try and fool the brain into thinking you’re fatter than you are, rather we should be trying to figure out how to reset the brain’s body weight “set point” so perhaps even before the weight loss your brain is keen to lose the weight in the first place.
I mean if the brain can effect metabolic triggers to cause us to regain weight after loss, so too if the brain thinks you’re overweight it will produce metabolic triggers to lose the weight. Instead of increase in appetite and reduction in metabolism, the brain will increase metabolism and decrease our appetite.
So what’s the mechanism in the brain that sets our body weight at X lbs? I’m keen on the idea of getting to the root of the problem rather than solving for the effect of being over weight, solve for the cause and yes, reduced calorie consumption and behavior modification is a key to that, but not having your own brain work against you and in fact maybe getting it to work with you in weight loss is best.
+Max0r847 perfectly said. too often ppl think its carbs/calories or just follow one plan made by another human. Just look at neurotoxins in foods. Get that out of ur bod thru non gmo, raw, vegan, wholesome, whatever it is. just not processed, not containing ingredients (yes ingredients but sadly im talking about neurotoxins and other chemicals that are now ingredients; man wat a time) that will toxify your brain. ur mind will then have proper nutrients, minerals and vitamins to help fire neurons that control mood, motivation and other abstract, yet vital aspects of human life. yup, im not BSing, you will feel motivation again, you will feel hyper awareness (not just aware of your surroundings but also aware of your purpose in life, present, progress, future decision making, etc.) Then, only then will you value exercise (my favorite running, biking and swimming; sooo vital to humans;soccer is best sport ever invented tho) and its benefits/purpose, bc when you try to exercise while overweight and highly toxified by the poison in our current food supply, you feel like its pointless and its soo hard, and you tend to quit the exercise lifestyle and revert back to your old obese ways. Sometimes you go back even more gluttonous bc ur mad that u didn’t get results and its too hard and wat a waste of time. Listen to Max! A new deoderant and new organic, raw, non gmo, non sulfate soap are the last steps in the weightloss journey you are about to take. and like he said; if u see all this as bs and think its too hard. Just start slowly. let it be a process. thats wat im doing, i have the list of things i now i should do but im doing them at my pace. y bc im being realistic. but i know soon enough; like he said, the scale is gonna tip in my favor (im sure it already is ) and bam I’ll have the results and control over my body, and consequently-human experience-that I want.
“Don’t think of a white bear” made me think about cats. I like cats. They purr. Can I has caturday nao?
