Thank you Josh Bridges you help me a lot, im a big fun of you and I admire your passion to succeed and the power of Will that you have. From your videos i have became stronger and I want to thank you for this. You are a human hero, keep doing what you do because you make it perfect.
Cross fit looks like High School Gym Class…where Adults lift things up and put them down…and see who’s #1! Ppl working out and competing against themself and each other!
I have picked up bouldering. It is amazing for building core strength, plus it is so different from running that it stays very enjoyable. This helps me to keep good posture and keep those lower abs strong during long runs and during a marathon.
Great video again, Awesome tips, really helpful, Coach Nate and Holly, I am going through both knees injury, please suggest cross training
Lots of walking with the dog. I ran my first 10k on Monday and a 40 minute dog walk really helped after
If you want you can learn from Unflexal workouts how to do workouts correctly.
Love creating HIIT session in home sometimes on my non run days, but sometimes I add them to my shorter speed run days, this way I’m working on fatigued muscles and I find myself stronger for it
1:50 First time I’m seeing Synchronized Swimmers doing pull-ups. Educated.
100,000 subs…WoW, Obi is a big boy now all grown up…congrats… #BreaktheMould
The Crossfit Journal was sabotaged by the Dieting article about “Nightshades” being all Peppers. “Nightshades” also were a slang name for alcohol and other drinks drank before sleeping to “give the Nightshades” or “shade the night”, etc.
Wow, man. You are honestly incredible. Going to try your program starting tomorrow.
Hey Anna, what heart rate should I consider when doing crosstraining like spinning bike and elliptical crosstrainer. My goal is to improve my vo2 max and Crosstrain once a week for 40 mins along with my regular running schedule
Love the lack of explanation and HORRIBLE workouts. AMERICAN KETTLEBELL SWINGS ARE STUPID AND POINTLESS!!
So…basically when my form is wrong while doing any exercise that is crossfit
Guess i’m a crossfit athlete now
Screw calisthenics and weightlifting
Rope jumping will be consider as to much stress for the legs? I normally do some rope jumping and pull ups, push ups and leg raisers as a cross-training routing.
Could you please post all your best personal record (fastest) run times? Like 1 mile, 2 mile, 5k,, marathon, etc
I still don’t know what it is. And I’m pissed off you wasted my time
All this time I thought it is was just transgender bodybuilding
this is one of the most american things I’ve ever seen. Also thanks for not giving any clear answers
How long you have been bodybuilding and what was your bodyweight when you started?
This is a great video thank you! The dancers our physical therapists work with question the cross-training recommendations, so we will share this and see if it helps.
I was a swimmer before I took up running so that’s my preferred cross training. Now cross training on the bike too as thinking about doing a triathlon
Crossfit. Where thr women look like the men are supossed to.
Shoulder issues…. knee problems…coupled with a compulsion to train…. judging by your schedule you are overtraining…you seem
to have a psychological obsession with working out.
It is highly questionable whether doing multiple workouts 6 days a week is actually necessary for a non-professional athlete… you are setting an unrealistic example for people.
Most of your audience want to make gains either in terms of muscle building or in terms of strength or in terms of general fitness…. mixing every conceivable training modality together in the same bag and doing a bit of everything with very little time for muscle and CNS recovery is not leading to gains in ANY particular discipline. Fact! You are feeding your own personal neurosis with your workouts but there is no rhyme or reason for your schedule. People would do better not to follow this kind of advice.
Great Topic, Great Discussion, Great Person… Keep it up men!
So I’m 40 Years old and about 230 lbs. Starting to have some lower back issues. I got turned onto yoga and it really helped. Stretching out the hips and back make my long runs smoother.
Josh it is good to hear your perspective and philosophy on how you program. Headed out to take on todays fitness program (josh-bridges.com). I am about a week into the programming and I certainly can say there is a build up of sweat equity. #paytheman
I thought cross training to be using the cross trainer / elliptical as well:D
I found it really beneficial to drop one of my shorter runs and start a boxing fitness session each week, really good and rounded sessions, different every week, and I never felt better.
Another great video, as always!
@ JB… Thanks for sharing your insight, and experiences. I consider myself noob, with 3 years of consistent CF 5-6 days a week. I can honestly say, I leverage the experience and feedback from your Elite CF Athlete’s to the best of my ability. I still follow my local Box and our Coaches programming as they are badass asses well Although, when I double up I have my notes and data that the vast of other ELite CF Athlete’s that share with the community the programming. I’m also smart to scale back, and know what i can and can not do; i try to focus on effort, and getting better on specific movements I’m deficient on I do appreciate how you share your experience and WODs! Thanks for keeping it real and informative! Keep doing, what you’re doing
Could you guys do something on treadmill running vs outdoor running? My 9:00 minute mile pace feels a ton harder on the treadmill vs running that pace outdoors.
I think the deep state started crossfit and crossfit started #nofap
If you were getting prepared for a Police academy. Would you recommend doing mostly 30+ minute AMRAPs frequently?
I have to take my dog for a walk twice a day. I find walking very beneficial especially after a hard workout or after a race where I’ve put a lot of effort in. I suppose it’s like a slower recovery run. When I look at heart rate and calories used, walking at a decent pace is more energetic than we realise.
Just found your channel, IM STUCK ALREADY keep up the good work, a big inspiration!
Another great quality video, keep it up man. Quick question about the military program. How equipment heavy is the programing and what equipment do you need for it?
Thank you so much! This is super helpful! May I ask when I can start running exercise after recovered from Achilles tendinitis?
I walk a lot, but not running makes me cross does that count? Nice jacket btw
Thanks so much for the video. Great tips! Do you recommend light weights when doing strength training? I have been doing heavy weights and find that it tires me out for my runs. I’m training for Boston and although I want to continue strength training 2-3 days a week, I don’t want it to tire me out and thus affect my runs. Appreciate any advice!
Great info! Kinda got an idea what I’m going to do now for my obstacle races/ mud runs
Well I guess I am number 3. I am always game to try a new running shoe
congrats bro, happy i’m here this early can’t wait to see what you go on to be
i agree with kester hikel, this is a confusing video about explaining crossfit. i unliked it.
Found you through TeamRichie and thought you were a cool dude. Congratulation on your 100K, massive achievement. Great information and I will be tuning in much much more, thank you
My dad cross country skid in the winter and he was a beast of a runner
Why not using a footage of people that have a descent rowing stroke?
Hey Obi, I love your channel man! I’ve been apart doing CrossFit for a few years now, if I was to do one day of bodybuilding a week like you said, would you say there are certain muscle groups or movements that we should work on that we lack in CrossFit training. Like maybe making that one day arm focused so curls, tri extension, etc? Any bodybuilding movements you think in general could make us better as crossfitters but still add on lean muscle mass? Thanks
Great tips, thanks! The last routine there I wanted to break out the glow sticks with the music.:)
Great video. I like how broad you kept it because fitness should not be overthought, which I am guilty of doing a lot. Conditioning and metcons, so long as you’re throwing together compound-complex movements and lifts, setting a time, and working hard, that’s all that matters. There is no right or wrong way to this.
Great topic for discussion. My cross training is ballet and weights. Sometimes swimming in the summer or boxing.
Surprised that he didn’t mention the awesome new Reebok float ride
If you would like More info on the CrossLIFTR plan visit https://obivincent.com/
Great topic. All ways trying to find new way to challenge myself. Thanx for the info.
Just recently I have incorporated a strength training session into my long run, 7miles to the gym, full body work out, then 7miles home. I do this so I learn to run while im tired, aka run through the WALL… speaking of the wall you guys should talk about the WALL!!!
I do a bootcamp at Reebok Fithub on weekends and there’s a video ad they play on a loop in the store that features a very familiar runner: NATE!!!!
Great stuff, been waiting for someone to do a video like this. Going to bear this video in mind the next time I need to cross train.
I favour the cross trainer because it feels much more like running. Although, I end up running like John Wanye if I try running afterwards.
gym and running for me. Soreness wasnt as bad ad my mates that never went to the gym when we started running together
A josh bridges video on my birthday can’t get a better present
But why is the cross trainer called a cross trainer?
Cycling and swimming for me. I’d love to do more strength training but I just find it so uninteresting
I’ve just done one of your workouts sir, 100 cals assault 100 ghdsu. Let me tell you that’s a nasty one! Thank you!
This is where it started too bad it has taken such a right turn. Its more about the games now then it is about the common people doing CrossFit to be more healthier. Don’t get me wrong I love the games just think the community put way too much interest in them…. its polluted with drugs now.
I saw it and what I learned about crossfit: it is for young people whose totally fits, moves their body like a crazy and do not need to worry about cartilage detachment, muscle injury, ligament rupture…
awesome tips! will strenght training make me a faster runner? or mostly add to endurance, keeping strong posture after really long time? I am realy looking for something that will propel me into that sub6min/mile,sub4min/k zone without dying 1 mile in? I do alot of intervals but don’t see much progress. thx.
Hey! How about programming for athletes such as wrestlers? Would you recommend different programming or keep programming the same as your CrossFit athletes? Or Perhaps rotating from a powerlifting style a few days out of the week and other days doing a CrossFit style workout?
Just some specific questions! Thanks Bridges!
More great tips, love it! Exactly what I have been looking for, thanks
A useful video, but I felt it was a shame that most of the cut clips featured soft focus very thin young women in minimal clothing. Nice eye candy, but in future videos it might be good to include footage of a variety of body types and non-gym-bunny type people? One of the big reasons I like your videos is you are regular people with normal lives so I can relate to what you advise, rather than trying to get near to a carefully curated, impossibly high performance/body image benchmark.
I love your shirt. Do you have any ideas for cross training for beginning runners that developed shin splints?
I’m a Black Belt in Taekwondo and train at my academy twice a week. Are the martial arts considered good cross training for runners?
Love your channel-so much great information for beginning runners like me!
Crossfit is generally calisthenics, but it is more intense and proper forms are not required.
Opps I’m following a training plan for my first HM,and I thought cross-training,was just using the cross trainer as well, thank you for this feature.
I just found this channel and I love it and I’m crushing on Anna haha
how do destroy your ligaments and risk injury to your spine 101
Doesn’t explain what crossfit is at all. I had to look elsewhere. Why is this video still on here?
I run when I’m really angry (between my long runs, tempos and intervals)
Hi Josh, I’m interested in purchasing your Physical Program. Are you able to provide more details? Is it a 7 day / 365 program? Is it designed for people with gym access, home only, both?
Thanks
Great conversation about programming. Such a huge topic but I think you hit some great points and gave us a good overall information. Thank you for sharing, Great content!
Thank you! Time to get back on the elliptical for a bit…at least until marathon training starts again!
CrossFit is constantly fucked up circus tricks performed for my amusement, laughing at worthless idiots
Rollerblading and hiking are good cross training too I’d say.
Mostly Badminton, gym (machines, Treadmill, Crosstrainer) and hiking
Really good vid. Informative!! Coming from a bodybuilding background this has given me a better idea of how to add more crossfit styled workouts to my training. Start small
so what is it? lol i’m sorry for the 17 and a half million. as of April 2020. and sorry for the next poor people for coming
@josh_bridges at last, programming explained in simple terms. I’m definately within the realms of GPP. I make it up as I go along though. A little more focus needed on my part! Thanks Josh!
I walk to my local shop to buy a pack of chocolate biscuits. I feel great. And I keep my top on too. I still weigh 13 stone at 50. I’m in good shape. I use the biscuits as dumbells
CrossFit is awesome. Challenging yourself on many different levels of endurance.
Great video’s. Very good presenter, so clear and to the point. Keep up the good work.
Not that I could do any of your programs, but I don’t see a link to anything in the description. Am I missing them? Thanks Josh. Always enjoy your videos!
Great info. Always appreciate the informative videos. Definitely wish I could write up my own programming but the fear of missing something or to much of something else scares me away from doing it
Bruh just do wrestling/grappling it’s way more effective and shows you how to kick ass trust me doing cross fit will take ages
Obi do you have a girlfriend? boyfriend? never heard you mention any personal stuff in last 18 months since ive subscribed
Damn your so fit and your accent is so brittish very Nice. Btw congrstulations
Need to get out on the new MTB I bought this year, but like new runners I don’t want to get it dirty
People with their life dedicated to the body instead of their body dedicated to his life
It’s the quickest way to injury known to man.
I regret ever doing it
Trash, don’t waste your time watching it and giving them more views
Most often when channels suggest 10 altenatives like this my brain get a overload and I forget what we where talking about and I go out for a run. For me would 10 videoes with going into 1 at a time in depth be better.
Stationary bike/spinning class. Also enjoy a good brisk walk when recovering from a tough run. Your video has inspired me to head to the pool.
I know you probably didn’t wrestle and do crossfit at the same time… but what would you suggest for a high school wrestler who has done crossfit for almost 2 years now?
13:51 Hey I have a patent on those dance moves! You owe me 35 cents in royalties!
Let me explain in detail what CrossFit is… CrossFit is gay.
For road runners……………. trail running
For trail runners………………road running
Mixing both makes you a better runner in every way, a lot less injury prone and a lot more fun!
Everybody saying that the video doesn’t explain what is crossfit.
That’s clearly because this is pronaganda not information.
Doing compound movements for time form breaks down injury
The/My “with a continuously running clock” is French/Italian/Catholic/Christian.
He could have said something about those reebok shoes tho
“Crossfit builds cardiovascular endurance, or as I like to call it: the ability to lose gains”
#repsforjesus
I workout alone to stay fit for my job as a deputy sheriff…so programming is an interesting topic for me. Any thoughts of programming a functional fitness program for law enforcement? It’s a little different than a strictly military program.
The rowing is my go to if I have to take a few weeks off for injury, works really well and so does cycling!!:)
I didn’t know pistols were considered high risk like HSPU etc…is it just bad on the knees? Have you or anyone you know had an injury attributed to pistols?
hi, this is a good video.
but i most time have very limited time for cross training… only weekends (Saturdays alone) i go for long run and little exercise..
what can i do to add more cross training to that limited time
I definitely need this to improve my 5k. Trying to break 17’s. Thank You
You are not the only one that thought cross training was using a cross trainer
I started Pilates two months after starting running for months ago. Really helps in core strenght eand a lot of stability too. I’m really enjoy it
I’ve neglected cross-training for too long but over the last month or so really picked it up. I’ve added 3 sessions on my turbo trainer each week plus some strength work in the gym to the running and yoga that I was already doing. I think lack of basic strength has really limited progress in my running
Looks like crossfit is just bad form. I am concerned about the safety of these people doing this. Those pull-ups are just wrong, plain wrong.!!!
Damn Obi, you must have been eating up to 6000 calories per day to fuel those workouts!? If you train several times per day, do you even get your calories in without having digesting problems in between workouts?
I am in the gym for about 2 hours every time as well and its not my job:b
Do you guys have a video about keeping up on your running goals/ training while having a cold/flu or after having a cold/flu/illness and getting back to your training of running?
you’re a beast man! congrats on the 100k! heres to getting to 500k!!
Umm i always thought that cross training was going for a run in high heels.
Cycling either in or outdoor, bit of rowing and the stair machine aswell as weights does it for me and when you do run really push the session hard when needed
Just want to take this opportunity to tell OBI…”You are my role model”…feels great to see you achieve, because I know a lot more content is coming…Im tuned in.
What’s your favourite method of cross training? Or are you going to add some in now you’ve seen this video? Let us know in the comments
Thank you Running Channel for another AMAZING video! I started going to the gym and I’m quite happy to know that the exercises I’ve been doing will improve my running!
I cycle/commute most days to work around 22 km there and back. But I find it’s harder to get my heart rate up anything like as high as it goes when running (100-115) as opposed to 140-160. This is possibly because I don’t want to take risks going too fast in traffic. Also doing it in the dark (as most of it is nowadays) seems to make you go slower. Is training at the lower HR still beneficial? Bikes are so energy efficient it almost feels like they get you there with no real effort (no hills on the route).
dang i need a crosslyft weekly plan,i can do at the gym?..any suggestions
The/My “with a continuously running clock” is French/Italian/Catholic/Christian.
Appears this CrossFit is an effective way to the hospital where one can lift 2-3 X’s their capacity and drop the weights on the floor like the fools they are. We ditched an idiot in our gym for doing just that. Plan to visit him in hospital NOT.
I do Triathlon and I honestly struggle to crosstrain ie condition training/weights/etc but I know I should do it more…
Crossfiters are the people you see in a park during lunch-break barely holding their vegan bowls, while limping on one leg after a hard training session.
Hii how are you, i love your channel❤ I have a question. A few days ago i had a conversation with my friend, he said: if a high performance marathon runner(let’s say kipchoge) have to run 2 x 1000m at 100% effort with 30 sec rest, it is possible to run the same time back to back. Is that posible?
What about something like an air bike…specifically a rogue echo bike or an assault bike?
7:45 Exactly the reason why runners shouldn‘t call anything and everything that is not running by this name. Not to forget Crossfit.
It‘s confusing.

Hey I wants to know if u do a workout called the murph I heard it’s suppose to be a hardcore workout
I understand what he’s saying, that it depends on goals, but does that depend in the world of weight lifting or CrossFit? I’m interest in general fitness, and I use crossfit and basic lifting to stay in shape. What kind of goals could a crossfit person have? And how do they tailor it?
Climbing stairs. It’s definitely tedious but it translates well for running benefits. Love this channel!!!
Is racket ball good? I love racket ball, i was thinking of incorporating it to my workout
You Guys Rock!! I’m here in Chicago & just stared running at 55 years of age. Your channel really comes in handy. Would love to get some Running Channel apparel. Please let us know when & if we can purchase. Thanks for everything you do!!!
Good ole boy josh bridges keep the videos coming man #paytheman
Josh my man, dont you like monostructural work? Like taking a day just for a long run or track intervals, or a whole morning just to row some certain distance. Or maybe like taking a day just to train snatch and clean and jerk. I think u understand my question lol thanks man you are a good dude
Me: “People in this video are so fit..”
Again Me, watching this video while eating potato chips on bed..
I do all 4 Triathlon is the best sport ever!!! I started as a runner
Hahaha soo true when i stay at home on rest days i eat the whole house out
When it comes to squats, should i do regular squats or barbell lunges as well? Doing only regular squats will it help me as a runner or doing all kind of variations is necessary?
Is that Buff Hudson @ 0:53, coz he is a BUFF dude, not a crossfitter!
So you don’t program for any specific purpose? It’s all Crossfit?
Strength training for me, but sometimes I do stationary bike.
typically my cross training is 1hr of 10min exercise bike followed 10min of walking up 12% incline at a speed that works calfs hard (but not strains them) plus I’ll do 33 squats (tot = 100) between each set (10min bike + 10min walk = 1 set for me) which I don’t include in the hour. Not sure if its best training… but works for me!:) Never really been able to incorporate lots of easy runs into my daily training… if i do that then I cannot do the hard days…. too sore and eventually I’d get injury. I do this for 2 days… then its back to grind-stone… either intervals of 5mins (5 min rest between) running at a speed i can only maintain for 15 mins… then speed I can run my quickest mile for 2mins with 5 min rest (that’s next session) for 1hr…. then max speed I can run 1hr for 1hr (that’s hardest day)…. then repeat with these easy cross training days in the mid of these sessions as rest days. It may sound slow because most of these are set so you can do more… but these are repeats and have to be maintained at that speed for 6 or so reps… so no good running quickest mile pace for a mile or bumping up the speed to try take adv of the shorter time, then expecting to do it again 5 mins later etc. But I guess I’m really training myself to be mid distance runner.
Maybe I will do some alternate weeks of pure daily slow running v high mileage.
Haha I would skate board as cross training 4 fun lifting 4 fun and running too or just when I need 2 carry heavy things but skate board is main exercise I do outside other then running
General doesn’t mean lacking in skill. Average people with low aspirations should be pistoling and HS walking. Neurological fitness should not be neglected. Our needs differ by degree, not kind. HS walks for soccer moms, HS O-course in weight vests for you. Triple unders and HSPU are for average athletes… look at mainsite. They just posted variations of HS descents as options during their SLHAPS practice pieces that take years to master. Sorry, Bro, but you’re not speaking CrossFit.
Oh hell no my boyfriend is out of his mind if he things I can handle that life style…….. I’m to soft for this
Hi Anna, I’m really struggling with motivation to run in the dark this winter, having moved away from the constant light of a big city. Any tips for running in the dark?
From personal experience CYCLING! It’s easy on the Calves and Hammy’s, enables you to up your weekly cardio without increased injury risk. Even when I couldn’t walk due to a dodgy Calf I could still blast out max effort on the bike. Cycling has helped me so much that I’m just this week getting back into running after a 3 month injury and I actually feel FITTER than I did before the injury! Really feeling optimistic about 2020 now!
That thumbnail is an image not easily removed from me memory cells you know
You did the six step! You learned some Bboy skills. Nice bro!
I just hired a trainer to put a strength program together for me. Focusing o on functional movements VS a ton of equipment. Kettlebells, TRX, battle ropes, sled, bodyweight. With focus on core and upper body. I want to smash my first half marathon!
Thanks for the video. I spent 8 weeks cycling while I was resting a foot injury. The rigid cycling shoes stopped any flexing of my foot during my workout. Back to running soon with a good state of fitness.
Well done on the 100K. Very well deserved, Great inspiring, funny and humble content
I’m sorry but handstand walking in crossfit just needs to go away. That’s what feet are for.
I race triathlons, so i do some cycling and swimming. I’ve never liked doing weights.
Was cycling today.loved it but was hard work,I am going crosstraining to reduce pounding on body plus it is a good break from running
Hi there. How often should I do cross training per week if I’m running atleast twice a week? I am looking to purchase a 90-day toning programme (to meet my body goals) but I am training towards a half marathon, so I would like to make an informed decision before my purchase. Would it interfere with my running?
I was on the Rogue site trying to find a Bridges shirt, but they didnt have the Pay the Man one. Restock incoming?
Quick question, should one attempt all the exercises in one day? Or focus on 2-3 body parts, alternating days (with the cardio 2-3 times a week)?
