Also it is high in Iodine. I take capsule form of kelp. Make sure you get the Icelandic Sea Kelp because others are now toxic due to pollution
I had my thyroid removed due to thyroid cancer. Do you think I should still use a supplement or consume sea-week or kelp? I’m taking Levothyroxine as a thyroid hormone replacement. Yes, thank you to the cows! Lol…. Would really appropriate you’re input on this. Thank you so much Thomas! Been fallowing you for a while and you blow my mind with every informative video you take the time for! So glad to have you’re in the world! Really appropriate it all!!!
I’ve been studying hypothyroidism treatments and discovered a great resource at Quintrell thyroid plan (google it if you are interested)
I keep hearing the parroting of too much iodine, etc. by the internet health experts, but where is the true clinical data? It is hard for me to believe that thousands and thousands of people using Abrahms, Brownstein, anf Flechas’ protocols are suddenly sick people. These iodine doctors would never subject their patients to a potentially toxic protocol if it were actually true. Yes, people can have detox effects and other uncomfortable side effects when first taking iodine, but the notion that taking these doses puts them back into the same deficiency state as when taking too little is preposterous. People, before believing this jargon, do some true homework about iodine therapy. Along with myself (I use 12 mg/day for years), and many, many other people there is no deficiency signs, actually nothing but good benefits that I have noticed.
Kelp can cure high blood pressure.
You have to take all salt out of your diet because Kelp has maximum daily supply of iodine. As long as you’re not taking blood pressure meds.
Kelp is known to eventually eliminate high blood pressure.
My mom had a friend for almost 50 years how was cured with kelp.
Today she has been cured for over 20 years.
She said it was pretty bad.
Just look into it please.
It is a known cure if you’re not taking meds.
If anyone wants the right information about iodine, how much to take, which to use, and why seaweed is not the best source, please look for the book “The Iodine Crisis: What You Don’t Know About Iodine Can Wreck Your Life
” by Lynne Farrow. Every tissue in your body needs iodine. Most people are deficient in iodine, you need both Iodine and Iodide for it to be effective, so no, taking Potassium Iodide alone won’t help. Any excess iodine you consume will be excreted without side effects, and 500 mcg is nothing. I take 150 mg per day, and follow the protocol, and I am healing in ways I never thought possible. Please educate yourselves.
Hi! Could you please guide me why my hairfall increases manyfold everytime I try incorporating Kelp in my diet. I am suffering from hypothyroidism.
When body builders build up their neck and top shoulder muscles too much, it makes their shoulders look like they are really low down and their neck is really long…
I listened to Dr Isabella Wentz’ documentary The Thyroid Secret. The many specialists on there said that as many at 97% people diagnosed as hypothyroid have Hashimotos even if antibodies test negative. Thoughts? Also, if one has advanced adrenal fatigue and hypothyroid with little to no response to medication, do you think it would be worth getting pituitary testing done? Thank you for this and all your videos!
New sub = Thank U some much for sharing the benefits of Kelp especially the information about not taking Kelp if U have blood and high pressure
I highly recommend Dr. David Brownstein’s iodine book. Full of very helpful information!
Hi Dr. Gus,great information and video, thank you for sharing, but i can not take it i have high blood pressure
GOD bless you.

Amazing love this thank you for sharing I’m going to buy it
Could you make a video on sea moss/Irish moss and it’s benefits?
Growing up in Korea I always snacked on sea weed (gim). Important thing is to get lightly toasted ones with little or less seasoning. The cheaper stuff you get in a plastic bag all cut up is usually fried & salted to death with way too long shelf life. Or you can get big square ones like he’s eating in the vid and toast it yourself just a few seconds on each side, bit of sea salt and sesame oil goes great with rice!
Hi dr. Can I use kelp while I am taking Synthroid 50 mcg medicine?
Thanks.
Thanks, Dr, how can we help if have thyroid and and high blood pressure?
Cold extremities means poor blood flow. Exercise your heart more with cardio. Always remember that Doctors, Drug Makers & Insurance Companies make living off you. The more you spend the more they make. They more conditions a Doctor can diagnose you with the more your insurance goes up & the more drugs you buy. The American Health Treatment system is all about profit. Recently they have been pushing a lot of Pre Conditions. Theres a lot of scans for “Possible” issues you “May” have down the road. There is a lot of money in treating people before they have problems. This way they make money off people before they even have health issues. My concern is that some of this treatment they recommend to keep a person from getting a condition will cause other health problems. Some may call this a cynical view but the bottom line in the American Health Care system is money, not curing people. If people were cured & health issues resolved they wouldn’t have customers. Yes there are some good people in Health Care but the entire system relies on an endless amount of patients.
I recently started taking kelp and selenium and I feel Amazing. So many years I’ve suffered with no help from doctors
BOM DIA!!

I live in japan and kelp is a daily snack here. Maybe thats why people here are so slim. No wonder Japan is the longest living country on earth. Its amazing they even sell different flavored ones in grocery stores, and its known as one of the best diet snacks since its so low in calories&high in fiber. But since people eat so many sea vegetables here in salads and such the iodine overdose is more common… everything in moderation I guess lol Still kelp is No.1 out of all the sea vegetables for me regarding iodine
Most kelp is polluted. I highly recommend Dr. David Brownstein’s iodine book.
what would happen if “overdose” on kelp and how much is overdose?
Iodine supplementation has greatly benefited me. Unfortunately kelp may be contaminated. More about this at my blog:
https://iodinepower.wordpress.com/2020/05/25/iodine/
can it be taken when there is no thyroid problem.want to tk for regulate female hormones only.
Hi, I take levothyroxin for my hypothyroidism, will the additional iodine in the kelp have a negative effect? Cheers.
I take 3 to 6,ooo mg, not mcg, of iodine kelp a day. An independent study I read gave test humans 120,000 mg of kelp iodine a day. The thyroid shuts down for 48 hours and reactivates after the 48 hours.
Doctors lead us to believe iodine is scary. Scary is supporting cancer by having too little iodine. Doctors have 4 to 17 hours of nutritional study in their years of study.
So did taking kelp do anything? I’m questing for supplements that do more than make your pee bright yellow.
Seaweed, especially from the Pacific, is exposed to radiation from Fukashima. Better to take Lugol’s or Iodoral. Iodized salt is not great either. Read The Iodine Crisis by Lynne Farrow.
Hi from South Africa. I’m a new subscriber. Like your videos a lot. What do you recommend as a kelp substitute for people with high BP?
Thomas awesome video!! As we age our thyroid is working less efficiently. Thank you for the great tips!! I can tell my metabolism has slowed down quite much after turning 30.
Omg my parents eat this all the time (we are not Korean lol) they workout regularly…… Explains why they eat that haha
I would love if you could do a video on adrenal fatigue: causes and solutions…that aren;t just pills. Thank you for your videos! I love them.
Kelp and seaweed are also super high in arsenic and heavy metals. To concentrate them to levels needed you would end up sick. The negative effects of too much iodine mentioned are a detox reaction…the iodine is displacing other bad halides.
Seaweed is prone to absorbing ocean pollution. Go to Lugol’s solution instead
Im a man and i dont work in an office….thats a weird assumption to make isn’t it? People other than office workers deserve health dont they?
I didn’t hear anything specific about how much kelp to “take”, and what form to use. Are we talking about capsules? Dried kelp? Powdered kelp? Also, I’m curious if you have any info on toxic metals in kelp, such as lead, mercury, etc. I understand that kelp acts like a sponge in the water, and absorbs a lot of things, How much powdered kelp is a correct amount? Thank you-
could you suggest (at least if you’ve noticed) when the best time to supplement Iodine-Kelp is (like what time of the day, and if you take it with other supplements or without other supplements)?
Technically you would be a merman but hey who’s keeping count lol..
Yes, and I read today Japanese eat as much as 12 mg iodine…a day! I certainly wouldn’t start out that high, but I think the amount we’re told we can eat is too low. I’m female diagnosed hypothyroid in 2015. It’s been a struggle. My doctor recommended I take iodine drops along with my wp thyroid. I did for awhile and stopped. I’m starting to take it again. I’ve gained weight and have spinal stenosis so losing weight if I can is very important. I took iodine today for the first time in over a year, and I felt better. So I recommend try it. You’ll be amazed. I chose drops that are made here in the U.S.and the iodine comes from the ground.
Not true about taking too much!!
Can work up to 50mg without any problem..need to detox thyroid of
halides that are taking place of iodine
.etc etc etc!
Excess iodine is excreted in the urine. So there’s not the danger of toxicity as you would have with a fat soluabe nutrient. Also iodine detoxes the body of bromide and fluoride and this can take months or years depending on your overall health. Based on Dr. Brownstein’s recommendations you can tolerate and benefit from far greater doses than 500mcg as long as you start gradually and take the co factors like vitamins. C, b1,b2, selenium, magnesium, and sea salt. Dr. Brownstein has years of research and clinical experience with high dose iodine, his lectures can be found on YouTube.
I bought a bottle today as I’ve gone fat
Without even eating
I heard kelp can be full of heavy metals… whats on point on this
illustrations are best in these matters
NOT swinging your hands around with gelled up hair.. 2 THUMBS down (I wanted to follow and couldn’t)
Good nascent iodine will absorb into the thyroid quickly. Its a great alternative to iodine from the foods.
So how much seaweed should I eat? Certainly wouldn’t wanna overdose on iodine from the seaweed snacks (if that’s even possible)
Will a sea kelp capsule break a fast if taken in the morning during a fasting period?
@Thomas thanks for putting such informative video. Keep coming up with more such info on different stuff. We highly appreciate your efforts.
I just brought “Iodine with Kelp.” On the bottle it says to take one drop once a day in small amount of water, I’m just wondering if that dosage is correct being that one drop is so so little to take in, will I be able to benefit from taking one drop daily?.
I have hypothyroidism but I’m thin. How much seaweed should I take? Or what should I do for my thyroid to function properly?
What if you don’t have thyroid problems. will extra iodine help?
Hello Dr Gus.kelp is very good.is amazing the benefits we get from.
High levels of iodine are dangerous. I have a slow thyroid aka hypothyroidism, and the only thing that works and is safe is a prescription from the doctor. I have tried everything “Natural” on the market and none of these products work. Save some money up or get health insurance and get to the doctor!
Great video! I bought the drops but have heard of the adverse affects and try to only take them when I know I haven’t had enough in my diet. But I love seaweed so that’s a great tip:) thank you for this!! Definitely key for metabolism. These little things need to be more focused on in the fitness industry.
I’m glad you talked about this issue. Sometimes I feel like I may perhaps have a low issue. Glad to know cranberries and supplements can work.
