Phosphocreatine is important because it helps produce a chemical in muscles known as adenosine triphosphate (ATP). ATP is often referred to as the “molecular currency for energy” because of its foundational role in muscle contractions. One of the biggest benefits of creatine is that you will experience more energy when you take it before workouts. Creatine supplements work to increase the levels of phosphocreatine located in your.
Phosphocreatine helps with the formation of ATP, which is the key molecule that your body’s cells use for energy. As well as being useful for athletic performance, Creatine is also known for having both neuroprotective and cardioprotective benefits.Creatine is most commonly supplemented for improving athletic performance. Since creatine increases the amount of phosphocreatine and ATP within the muscle cell, it provides benefits for high intensity anaerobic physical performance like sprinting, throwing and lifting weights.
Phosphocreatine (the phosphorylated form of Creatine) provides the means of regenerating small quantities of ATP extremely rapidly, so boosting short-duration activities. Muscles are much less prone to fatigue, and the capacity to undertake strenuous exercise is increased.Creatine serves as an energy substrate for the contraction of skeletal muscle. The intention of creatine supplementation is to increase resting phosphocreatine levels in muscles, as well as free creatine, with the goal of postponing fatigue, even briefly, for sports-enhancing results.Phosphocreatine is charged with powerful phosphate groups that release a large amount of energy when the muscles need it.
The average person uses about 2 g/day of creatine while athletes and bodybuilders have much higher requirements [ 3 ]. Creatine has become one of the most widely used nutritional supplements.Another advantage to taking creatine phosphate is that it is a legal substance in most athletic competitions, such as the Olympics and professional athletics. In addition, creatine phosphate is not considered a drug by the FDA.
Phosphocreatine is a substance that, in its chemical partnership with adenosine triphosphate (ATP), is fundamental to the ability of the body to produce muscular energy. Phosphocreatine, which is also known as creatine phosphate is a compound constructed of carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, and phosphorus, in the molecular structure C 4 H 10.Creatine is the number one supplement to improve our performance in sports.
According to research, it increases muscle mass, training performance, endurance and strength. In addition, creatinine can protect the body against neurological diseases.Studies in exercise physiology help athletes achieve greatness e.g. it is now known that Olympic weightlifting and plyometric training are two methods to increase vertical jump height. -The physiological response to exercise is dependent on the intensity, duration and frequency of the exercise as well as the environmental conditions.
Endurance athletes likely won’t see quite the same benefits, due to their sports’ reliance on the aerobic energy system. However, creatine supplementation has a “cell volumizing effect”, which pulls more water into the muscle cells. Over time, and with some resistance training, this could result in more muscle glycogen storage and.Your body relies on phosphocreatine stores during high-intensity anaerobic workouts (like weightlifting) to replenish the ATP in your muscles. Once ATP stores are depleted, your body has to rely on other forms of energy to make it through the rest of your training session.
Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise 34, 537-543 ; Greenhaff P.L., Bodin K., Soderlund K., Hultman E. (1994) Effect of oral creatine supplementation on skeletal muscle phosphocreatine resynthesis. American Journal of Physiology 29, E725-E730.Which of the following are benefits of regular and consistent exercise? enhanced heart function improved balance phosphocreatine ATP. ATP.
At very high intensities of exercise, most of the energy the body uses is supplied by For every pound of weight lost during an athletic event, _ of water should be consumed during exercise.

hello do you recommend drinking pre workout on sprint days training and on the race day itself meaning 100m dash race/trials:)

Interesting because I learnt the second and third systems’ names as Lactate (not Glycolitic) and Aerobic (not Oxidative). I suppose it’s just semantics but interesting that they have alternative names.

Hello there I have a question. I’d be happy if you answer.
I’m a sportsman since 2008!and I started with bodybuilding first. And then I kept doing bodybuilding until 2013. Then I started Muay Thai and I used bcaa, proteins. After 2015 I stopped taking supplements and I got injuries. I used to take PRO GAINER, BCAA 1:4:4 I guess it was that. It was pill form. So my question is that since I stopped taking these supplements I got injuries. But I just wonder were they really helping me to avoid injuries or it’s just inside my head? And what other supplements do you suggest for a combat athlete? I mean to avoid injuries and have fast recovery? THANK YOU!
Do you take pre workout before track workouts or gym workouts?

Overall very good video, you got my like
I have been taking protein, but nowhere near enough I increased the amount I take, and it has made a big difference.

I love your channel so much! I just started what is technically my first year of track and field, since my middle school coaches didn’t even teach me how to put my hands on the lane lines before starting a race haha. Your videos have helped me in many ways <3
Guys, I have 7 pounds of pure nitroglycerin and I shall now attempt to snort it
hey jaret campisi, I went online to purchase the supplements that you showed and it says there was a sale for a bundle type deal and it showed in the cart that the price was 140, but as I went to check out it totaled up the price to about 200. Any input?
the caffeine in jack3d had nothing to do with people getting flagged on drug tests. It was the 1’3 DMAA in it. That was the stuff that actually made you feel like you were on crack….
The caffeine content was actually pretty low (per scoop) compared to a lot of other pre’s out there today.

This is so good. This could be much better if the music was absent or at-least turned down.
What does the protein powder taste like in the video? I’m a picky eater and I want to know if I would be able to drink the protein shake without throwing up
Fantastic video and explanation ruined by the loud ass music
This is great, was a huge help to my studying and the images and presentation was informative and relevant. Thanks!!
I think you mentioned in the video that oxidative system can produce ATP as fast as the other two system, you mind explaining that?
Hi. I am trying to teach myself biochemistry and other related topics, and I couldn’t understand creatine. Until now. Thank you so much. I’ll make sure to look out for more of your videos. Thanks Khan Academy!
one small query will creatine help me in improving my timing for 1600 mtr or is BCAA a better alternative. Thanks.
I’m not picking up one important point. Where does the creatine kinase get the energy to convert the ADP to ATP. In general the gamma phosphate bond provides energy to cellular actions, if I understand correctly, so there must be a net energy input to move the reaction to the left. Where does it come from? And from the other direction, when the CK reaction is moving to the right, what happens to the released energy?
Could you link the video about creating you talk about please.
Oh my GOD!!!!!! Thank you for helping me understand this!! You’re flipping awesome!
I usually love your videos but this one was a little hard to focus because of the loud background music:(
would you take bcaas before weight training sessions too? and how early before track practices?
I’ve seen other videos which mention ATPase any reason why you didn’t?
Why the hell did you choose country music? It almost makes this video’s information not awesome… even though it is. You did a good job, with the nuts and bolts, thank you.
After finishing a brutal circuit class today I was wondering how the body gets energy this helped! Thanks
Which energy system replenishes ATP for exercises which activate type 2b muscle fibres?
@Whats up dude I will like the video if you resurrect Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy
the way you give us the information and make it that smooth is amazing… something special
omg this video has helped me out a lot and I now understand better for my exam tomorrow:)

Thanks so much for your videos which make these concepts very understandable; appreciated!
h3h3 is that you!? Sounds like Ethan Klein on a ramble rant. But good info
My experience with protein isolate shakes (both whey and pea) is that, over a few weeks, it slows digestion down and causes one to retain more waste, even when taking probiotics. That could be just me, though. A large (12oz) can of tuna has 75 grams of protein, and seems to pass through and be assimilated easily. When you are training and racing, you don’t want to be carrying a lot of waste. Without being too obsessed with it, I think sprinters need to be aware of their weight and best ‘race weight.’ Strength to weight ratio seems important.
Thanks, hope this vid is correct.. lots of uploaders don’t really know the headortail thing ‘no.
Very nice video!(I will refrain from commenting on the music).
This channel is great, I am subscribing!

I understand these supplements are safe but is using all four products everyday safe? I was wondering if the body will act differently with these foreign substances overtime?
I used to buy and use Twinlab Ultra fuel, primarily for hiking/backpacking. Unfortunately they don’t make it anymore. It contained complex carbohydrates. It also contained lots of calories, vitamins, electrolytes etc. It could’ve been best described as Gatorade on steroids. It wasn’t your typical protein and calorie weight gain/bodybuilding supplement. It didn’t contain protein at all, I don’t think. But it was great for long duration type exercises like backpacking and running etc, because it boosted low blood sugar, provided supplemental calories, replenished electrolytes and rehydrated you. Plus vitamins. I used it on the Appalachian trail 3 times, and NOT just as a ‘recovery drink’. I mixed it in a Nalgene bottle and drank it throughout the day.
Do you know of any other products that fit that description(even if they include some protein) and does Endurox r4 fit that bill? Thanks
This is the best explanation I have found so far:D thanks so much
Just a heads up as I’ve had a bunch asking…none of these supplements are on the banned list for the NCAA. So you are fine to take any of these and you will NOT fail any drug test.
Hi! Great video! May I ask what your sources are please? Thanks!

Which of these substrates will contribute to the greatest amount to ATP resynthesis at rest?
Hey mate just bumped into ur channel! i used to race pro Motorcycles world championship, now I just bodybuild lol I moved to LA nearly 2 months ago and im buying in 2 days a gsxr 750, we should def hit a workout and a ride one day mate! if u check my first youtube videos is when I used to race!
Jaret have you used L-Glutamine supplements? Do you know if it’s in any of the supplements you are using?
He starts with multi-vitamin, it means he knows nth about nutrition!
Jaret I started running middle distance in grade 8-10, but now I’ve moved to a new country and I wanted to go into sprinting. I’ve watched a few of your vids and they’ve really helped me, but I may not change my current diet as my parents don’t support dieting specifically for a sport, and I’m not doing all too well financially, is there any other ways I could become a better athlete?
makes sense that creatine wouldn’t increase strength so much but more how many reps u can do, and also why muscles become bigger, as u have more potential energy inside them
Thank you SO much for this! A week of class and I understood NOTHING until I watched this video. You gave me confidence for my exam tomorrow!
I have heard that cycling creatine is necessary. When should you take it and when should you have a break. I am a track athlete(100m/200m) and in my home country Estonia season starts roughly in the end of May and ends in August. In the coming season my biggest competion will be the U20 European Championships which are held in the end of July. Last season I started taking monohydrate in March and continued all the way to July. So my question is again, when should I start taking the creatine? Greetings from Europe and thanks in advance, keep up the good work!
Ms. Burke is clearly an expert and a professional. Thank you for this.
