I know I should probably cut down on the long run-mileage, but I mean.. Come on now. Don’t just say it to my face like that. Way too real. Great video, tho.
If you run a 5k properly, for example in a race environment, it is mostly anaerobic threshold over aerobic.
Interesting. I use to run a few miles a few times per week. Decades later I’ve decided to run again. I’m also a frequency researcher who uses technology to change the frequencies of my mind/body, especially for any health challenges and more. This technology is also great for exercise recovery. Spooky 2 knows.
Who knew it was so complicated. Im train for aesthetics mainly in the gym and calinasthetics. Twice a week I do 15 mile runs so it’s 50% of my total. I’ll occasionally do a timed 5k tend to get under 18 mins. I feel great after, something I don’t feel as much with strength training.
Why does your mouth taste like salt when you about to throw up
I thought the ‘fire’ feeling in legs was because of muscle tissue ‘microtearing’?
I’m a professional gamer, but I consider myself to be an athlete
I’d love to wear one of those hats while doing my long runs, in this Michigan weather ❄️♀️
I am 60 years old and just getting back to running after the summer off, it is a challenge for sure but hell, I have limited time left on the earth. Fast, slower, walking doesn’t matter. I am alive and moving.
Hey, have my first 5k race coming up in 1,5 month. I am decently fast but i cant keep up the pace i like for 5k. How can i get more endurance for 5k? More intervals/hills or more distance running up to 5k and over? Thanks!
What Are the Benefits and Risks of Running in Long Distance?
https://healthyfit07.blogspot.com/2017/12/long-distance-running.html
There was some research out suggesting long runs make you as likely to die as a couch potato. They suggest no more than 3 runs at 5mph. To be honest that too freaking slow to build up any fitness for a healthy young to mid aged runner. That might be a good pace to aim for if you’re starting out… have health problems… or are overweight making running more difficult… but to be honest.. that’s very slow… but for some people its a great start and a million times better than nothing… I think the best health benefit would be gained from doing running as we’re designed too. Why do we run? So we can hunt. How far would you have to run after a deer to exhaust it in the heat of a hot day? That’s probably optimal running distance.
Paul Cook already said this but it’s really bugging me so I want to say it again: how can 20% or even 25% be right from a mathematical point of view? For someone running 3 times per week, their “long run” would have to be shorter than their other runs
Studies have shown this women has learnt loads of statistics
U have great wrist control. No bounce in that footage at all!
Awesome video thanks for the share! I recently put out another marathon training tip video that would compliment this video well! Overall the goal is to make sure everyone has the knowledge to train for a full marathon safely! Great work!

Nate! Are you married?! just kidding, you guys are awesome, thanks for your great advices!
I used to run every day, marathon, and triathlon. And now I can hardly walk because of my knees. Go for it dudes!
I love long distance running only for weight loss then I cut down from 4-5 days a week to 3-4 days
I think it is completely unneccessary and even unhealthy for our bodies to be exposed to this amount to exercise.
Recovery is the name of the game, 18 milers are necessary for marathon training but letting your body recover and working on your mobility in the meantime will help you keep your mobility and feel healthier in general.
Great video! I also think it’s worth mentioning that your body doesn’t gain benefit from the act of completing a long run, but from the recovery and replenishment that comes after putting your body under stress during a long run
İyi ve bilgili adamlarsınız. 10 da 1 iniz ülkemde olsa yeter ama yok. Aramızda yüzyıl var sanırım. Ne üzücü.
How do I overcome pre-game anxiety? My long distance running always suffers when my nerves go crazy.
need the long run (2 hrs and more IMO) for the half marathon and above but it does contribute to burnout, adrenal fatigue and burning of lean muscle tissue. As far as long term health I would say long runs or long bike rides for that matter do not contribute to longevity but both can be fun and addicting so maybe as a hormetic therapy pop up the cardio occasionally so the body has to adapt but avoid doing it all the time.
I run 15 to 20 miles every Sunday but there on trails in the mountains.
How do you guys feel about ketosis diets in relation to this? Doesn’t forcing your body into a state of ketosis mean that you’re already starting your race past ‘the wall’? I bet that would mean terrible endurance.
A lot of the ultra runners look about 10 years older than they actually are.
Kipchoge dominated the marathon and posted that his long easy runs are the foundation to his success…
Good topic….concerned about wear and tear on joints with age
How do you guys feel about the training approach thekneesovertoesguy uses for knee strengthening?
Short runs scare me more (5/10k) when you’re running 100% and youre absolutely wiped out when you finish
I am couch based athlete who is distance runner in the spare time.
How would you advise a triathlete? With 3 disciplines (4 if you count S&C), I can’t run more than 3 times a week. If I adhere to the 25% rule, then I would not ever get up to the 8 or 9 mile long runs that I need to prepare for an olympic distance race. I really like your videos. Great content.
There’s a huge flaw in using no more than 20 to 25% of weekly mileage, in that anyone only doing 4 runs a week, 25% would equate to each run, only 5 runs a week and that’s 20%. I’d say a huge proportion of recreational runners aren’t doing more than 4 or 5 runs per week.
Can you simply mix some kitchen salt in your drink used while running (I for example simply take water mixed with a bit of fruit sirup to keep med going) or does it have to be the mix of salts in an energy drink?
I’m eating alot of carbs for a competition which I hope happen one day
New runner, just did 10K for the first time yesterday! 1 hr 4 min. Goal is to work up to a half marathon eventually. Biggest advice I could give, do not go too fast! Find your comfortable pace!! I’m doing a 9-10min per mile pace & that feels good but when I started I was doing 7 min & couldn’t last. It’s OK to go slower! ♀️♀️♀️♀️
I liked the video because you mentioned some great tips for balancing and managing your long runs, but you didn’t answer the question about whether long runs are bad or not.
Is the science on this conclusive? What if a person is doing all the “little things” like strength training, mobility drills, good dieting, and getting good rest? Are long runs bad then? If a person only runs long distances without the other stuff, is that bad?
Could be a good debate. Maybe provide some studies and research that compare these populations. Your tips are good, but from your video you clearly support long runs as good for us.
My long SLOW runs are more about psychology….I’ve been here (20 to 30K is the worst for me)…I know what it feels like….but I know that there’s still plenty of gas in the tank
So just keep on turning ’em over
I can do pace runs…speed days…hills
(Probably not enough of those)
But I’ve got to prove to myself I can do “the distance”
I typically run when my schedule permits, and based on feel. However, I want to run a marathon to test my limits. On an average week, I run approximately 20-22 miles, broken among 3 runs per week. That would mean a “long run” is actually shorter than what I would normally run…?
I don’t think the title of the article is answered by this explanation contained. “Is running long distance healthy for you?” Buy a copy of Time Magazine’s “The Science of Exercise” from 2018 I think. Dr. James O’keefe, cardiologist and former distance runner reviews the literature. Have a read of his research on pubmed. I have run only 5 marathons in my 51 years on this planet, but I have curtailed my distance running because of this research: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/22677079/?i=2&from=james%20o’keefe%20long%20distance%20running
i love this video i feel more healthy i even fell like running a 1000mile distance!!!!!!!!!!!!!# awsome
Stopped listening after she said lactic acid causes muscle soreness.
Studies has shown that runing burns more energy than fat and actually to burn body fat you need to do steady state cardio:) #justsaying
I can sprint 100 meters at 286 weight. At a 22 mph top end speed. without my knees hurting and I do this on pavement. sidewalks. with a 48.6 BMI. I been training since October 2018. I”ve walked ran. every single day for 8 months. I’m getting gains I also can do 10 manly situps without stopping all the way down and up. WIll you talk to me?
I did 400m × 3 on a steep hill
Followed by 250m × 3 an adjacent steep hill
And wanted to finish with shorter steep but FASTER runs lasting for 25 to 30 seconds. During the 2nd of these I had a very sharp pain like a cramp on a certain point on my left calf muscle, I could not continue and had to limp back home. What is the reason for such a cramp bcoz I was already hot?
How often should you mix these?.. Everyday? A week?.. I mix long distance, internal training and uphills every two weeks. Is that ok?
I know a guy that goes to the gym 6 days a week, is there all day and, doesn’t workout at all.
How is sprinting from 10sec to 2-3min? A pretty good 800m runner can break 2 and you don’t consider the 800 sprinting. Try almost all out sprinting at 400m pace for 2min and see what happens. Also, 800m-2000m is mid-distance because they only usually last for a few minutes or maybe several minutes which isn’t long but isn’t short. Above 2k is distance that’s the way the IAAF organizes it. Also, do you still need sprint training if you’re trading for a 100k hilly ultramarathon? Not trying to be rude just correcting
5k is not hard Rogan you pussy. If you truly care about your health stop all that BS youre doing and go run more often
I’ve heard about some newer study saying that not eating any carbs before a run, but rather eating fat for fuel is better since you won’t hit “the wall” and thus can keep your energy up during the whole run.
Your thoughts on hill repeats vs sprints? With hill repeats being at a slower cadence due to vert. Thanks
crazy to believe i only did powerlifting for 3yrs straight n no cardio! now cuz of the quarintine, im doing more running n lighter wieghts. Did my first 1hr run 6miles n it felt so good! I feel healthier, stronger, n least pain! i try to add 2miles every 2weeks n its been easy! maybe if i keep this up, ill try a 26.2miles marathon! wish me luck
Since I had heart problems and my Cardiologist warned me about increased heart attack risk during Marathon I did read few studies and unfortunately when you’re over 40 years old there’s increased heart attack risk on marathon. That study advised over 40 year old runner to take baby aspirin on the marathon morning to compensate that increased risk.
Also there was another study where they did view hearts of people who has run tens of marathons each. That study found that people who had healthy lifestyle all their lives was in better shape but people who already formed some blockage to their hearts because of earlier bad habits had that still over there and therefore those people are more prone to heart attack. See link below.
I’m not health professional and how this translates to long runs I have no clue but I’m taking my long runs and races carefully and don’t push too much since ultimately my goal for running is staying healthy and enjoy every step:)

Been running 6 days a week since March I’ve lost a stone in weight I can remember way better than ever and my battle with depression has greatly improved. Anyone with long-term mental health issues I really recommend running every morning if possible
Running cured my anxiety..I don’t suffer anymore but I still run 5k..3-4 times a week.
Dr. Rhonda Patrick always doesn’t remember who did the studies she’s talking about. She needs to do more running.
She wants a slice of Rogan for sure. Let’s just say “she wants to put the mic a fist from her face”
Even with good form, your knees are gonna regret it when you get older.
https://www.verywellfit.com/how-walking-is-better-than-running-3432517
Old Rhonda and her “studies”.
“Hey Rhonda, would you like a cup of coffee?”
“Like, well there’s actually a study that shows like, that like I would live a cup of coffee as coffee has been shown to maintain a heart rate between 0 and a thousand beats per minute and also improves the ability to recall your Grandmother’s best friends maiden name.”
I don’t know at the memory thing??? My wife ran out on me 3 years ago and forgot to come back
Elliptical doesn’t help with running that much. You’d think it would but it’s not enough impact.
I run every day at work I’m a bin man quicker we go quicker we can finish work and get paid all day there’s a lot of bullshit on YouTube
I don’t run, ever. Just lift weights 5 times a week with conditioning sled (push/pull) and carrying sandbags. Ran a 5k and didn’t die. I think joe is being a little dramatic…
I’ve been working on my body the last 5months… and I just started a 30day running challenge
Does anyone get shin pains when running? I started running for a week but the shin pain is unbearable
Jesus, 235 miles!! Isn’t that called ultra-running or an ultra-marathon? My cousin does that, but I’ve only talked to him about it a couple times. It’s such an insane distance, you have to regulate everything so intensely to keep your body moving at a reasonable pace.
All these studies that we waste our money on. Running increases your ability to remember something. No shit! It’s not the running. It’s that you are spending the whole time running thinking about what the fuck you are trying to memorize. These scientists waste all this money on research for things any person could figure out if you just use common sense. Idiots!
So besides pulling that shit up Jamie also runs. Interesting
I only need to run faster then the cop chasing me.♂️♀️♂️
I run over 100 miles a week… running is very easy once you reach a certain level of fitness and strength… I could probably adapt to higher level of volume but I only have a certain amount of energy per day so this is a good volume of training to be manageable and to be as competitive as my level of talent and lifestyle allow me to be
Lmao sitting down she doesn’t look like she runs 3 miles a few times a week.
I’m a pretty heavy guy 6ft 260 pounds and all I can manage right now is the run, jog, walk, and repeat technique. I love doing it outside and it’s just such a stress relief and a perfect way to start the day. One day I’ll be able to run steady for a while
800 and 4×400 college athlete. Hey someone has to do those events.
I feel so guilty as im eating s dozen donuts listening to this right now
4:26 “that’s crazy that it works on your brain….” Rhonda”why”…Joe, your not the expert on all matters. im bout to go start running.
FYI Rhonda Patrick has been a PhD since 2006 but only has 10 research papers to her name. The papers on which she is first author are not well received or heavily cited. She is not a productive academic.
Her intelligence is sexy… i was thinking it i said it ♂️
My dad used to tell me to run before tests and I used to say that doesn’t make sense….and here we are
Good stuff! BUT lactic acid doesn’t cause sore quads though…that’s the most persistent myth in running circles! Lactic acid levels are back to normal after about an hour and have nothing to do with Delayed Onset Muscle Fatigue (DOMS)!
The only day I felt bad this entire month was the day I felt I should take a break and don’t work out.
I wonder how much of losing brain mass at 20 has to do with that being when most people plateu. Most graduate highschool at around 17 then learn a trade and begin careers around 20. Then no more learning until retirement. I wonder if it’s one of those “if you don’t use it you lose it” type of things.
Walk everywhere, briskly. Do not run. like most of us, you will pay for it when you get old, like hip,and knee issues.
I’ve been running for 9 months. I was 320lbs when I started. Could barely do a half mile. Now I’m 270lbs and I just ran a 10K for the first time.
Remember you have to crawl before you can find walk. Just got to stick with it and keep on moving.
Couch based athlete barb hurt me and made my lips curl down at the ends.
i don’t get why people wear headphones while doing a podcast.
I am a former couch potato and now when I’m feeling bad emotionally I know I need to go for a run. I definitely feel the difference.
I last ran 10 years ago and I still remember how to work the washing machine….10 years later! This is like magic!
I ran my first marathon on Sunday in Franktfurt and i can recommend it to anyone.
The feeling when you cross the finish line is incredible, its way better than pot and just lets you feel amazing!
PS.: Avoid stairways the day afterwards ^^
Benefits of running….you ll get to install new robotic joints at some point in your life…..
Deep breathing through the nose is what brings back the brain not just running.
I always find time to watch the run experience! Thanks
Coach Nate and everyone at the run experience, I would volunteer my time with you guys anytime
Joe might be in shape but without proper running techniques it would be difficult for a first timer. The more you repeat a movement the easier it gets. Working out specific movements increase our nervous system abilities which increase our performance.
She couldn’t remember where the study was done which means she ran before.
A runner for sure, but lately, more time on the couch , had a few issues plantar fasciitis, general ankle and knee issues ! Having said that, I did a 5.3km race on Saturday in around 30minutes
all these runners look horrible. running is just the worst…especially doing double digit miles every week. no wonder you get injured. I’d rather jump rope
Weird to think that only 2 years ago Joe Rogan is perplexed at the positive effects that exercise has on the brain.. have people not known this? If you do not exercise and are sedentary, you will die sooner than someone who out-works you physically and mentally. The same way you workout to improve muscular strength, power, and endurance, learning/mental stimulation (which is what is also going on when you push yourself during a workout) improves coordination between neurons. Nobody should even need the source of the study to understand this
I like how she doesn’t give any actual factual evidence. lmao! All she says is “they found”, “studies have shown”, “ so many studies recently have shown”. Like I’d like the actual sources not just hearsay.
Whenever I here someone say ‘aerobic exercise’ i think of neon colors and headbands
What a h is she talking about.Your brain does not loose its mass at 20.
When you work out a lot and think running is very easy and then you try it..its always a big surprise…running is running..
I’m starting with walking. The last thing I’d want to do is fuck up my hips from running.
Short burst of intense stress makes you stronger, while constant low level stress makes you weaker. An great example is excercise, you do it to get physically stronger, but if you do it for too long you will overtrain and become weaker instead. It’s not the stress itself that is good, but the recovery afterwards. This is why I hate the concept of “positive” stress. Stress is not positive, it’s necessary in small amounts. This is why high intensity cardio is the right way to go, you get the maximum effect with the least amount of stress.
It’s funny to think people are like ya I done a 5k and everyone is like wow your so fit when people out there are running 230 miles plus it’s a special gift
1:15… “I can’t remember where it was done”. That’s the study which concluded running helps you with your memory. Classic!
Is it fine to get medical advise from a person with PhD in Biomechanics vs an MD
Best to run within your threshold and listen to your body.
Run for health, not medals.
running is way different to doing weights. I thought since i do squats and lunges and calf raises i’d be fine, but no, my legs are fucked after every run.
Benefits =
1. Aids short term and long term memory
2. Improves physical fitness and mental sharpness (which degrade as we age)
3. Limits brain atrophy (i.e. the loss of brain mass)
4. Improves executive function (e.g. problem solving, reasoning)
I’ve ran about over 100 half and full marathons. Yes, I’m addicted to running. It not only keeps you healthy, it’s any easy sport to access. All you need are a good pair of running shoes and some running clothes, and you’re good to go. Whether you are running for 15 minutes or 2 hours, you can just go by a near by park or run around your neighborhood. It’s just so convenient.
aaah 15 miles in and your cramping up. You’re also undertrained, probably low on salt and about 10kg overweight
that is not natural for a human body.. so i’d expect to see some issues. Although we are designed to run… we’re distance running hunters… like a gull flies, human’s run…. or are meant to!:) But I’d say… hmmm… about 15 miles tops. We had to run to tire out an animal in the heat until it basically died of exhaustion and became lunch.
They’re forgetting that nobody wants to run and everyone wants to lift weights these days to build a booty like the girls do or bigger biceps for the guys. I’m waiting for them to correct this video and show the emphasis on that.
Anyone who wears a toque in the summertime can’t be taken seriously.
nope, marathon is not my thing..
i do a 1 km run every day except sunday..
and im trying to break the 3 minutes time,, so far is 3.20ish..
so am i healthy? coz i feel very fit after the 1k run..
note i never even do 5k, hahaha, maybe i am lazy.
I see a high correlation, but where’s the cause? WHY does a marathon protect the knees.
Running, lifting, surfing, and Muay Thai are my drugs of choice. Get after it people!
Unsubbed. This has nothing to do with tech. It’s not the first time
Just change your name you don’t show any tech and if you do its about iphones
I actually have drive in my life and I’ve lost 20 lbs, run 5 mi daily, do calisthenics and I’ve ran 3.82 mi in 31:34 and I’m on a quest to getting ripped in 2018 and I will never let myself venture away from fitness.
the reason it’s good for you is because you die younger and so you don’t have bad joints like old people,
Insider are literally contradicting themselves with every video, guess what the next video suggestion for me is, ‘4 ways running for a long time is bad for your health’. ‘By insider’
For so many years I thought running was bad 4 my knees Thanks Tech Insider
Show me a randomized controlled trial where one studies all-cause mortality of running under 20K vs over 20k regularly for 25-30 years. I’d bet the under 20K gets better outcomes because of hormonal and bone density changes of older age.
I’m a track n XC as well as race walker. Distance all the way
What if I run before I learn something and then again after? Both long and short term benefits?
Holly thats freaking fast, u probably win alot of races and age group awards.
Love the retakes and bloopers at the end. As always, very informative and educational information for us noob runners. Look forward to future videos from The Run Experience team… Workout Wednesdays tomorrow.
Sorry but seeing unfit people run is not flattering, props to them for working out, but its still cringy to see.
This route is from Bethesda MD to Georgetown DC. My favorite biking route.
I always hit the wall when I run to the bathroom with the lights off.
wage slavery is your greatest health threat. in fact, capitalism in general is greatest threat to life on Earth
Nope, the glucose breaks into Lactate and hydrogen ions, not lactic acid. Please do your homework before putting forward expert advise.
Why did it happen? Look to that hip drop for starters. I recognize it from what I used to do.
I am 210 lbs. I’ve been working out for 7 years. I ran a 5k yesterday and it was hard as fuck. Total torture
I ran 20 miles outside last december just for the hell of it. I did experience a runners high, which is basically just an extreme feeling of relaxation.
Can you avoid bonking altogether by taking energy gels during the run. Let’s say 5 or 6 during a marathon?
So I am currently in cross country and hold a 4:33 mile… but I am also a sprinter, I have a 52 400 meter dash PR. but the thing is, I NEVER practice sprinting so I don’t know how I’m at that level of sprint, do you think if I sprint more daily I’ll get faster in a shorter amount of time?
No offense but if you are running, why do you seem kinda chubby?
I’m sorry but elite marathon runners are the ultimate athlete. Holding a 4:40 (sometimes lower) mile for over 26 miles?! I mean most people can’t hold that pace for half a mile
The chemistry seemed a bit too simple for a chemistry channel ngl mah bois
In my 20s, I was the Super Rager and got fat because of it. Now in my 30s I’m back to running and trying to become that Super Ager.
You underestimated the fat burning. It does not start when glycogen finishes, it starts ong before that. What is more, elite athletes try to train their bodies to start burning fat sooner in the race in order to have that source of energy from as soon as possible (fats are really aloric, they give much more energy than glucose).
I’m a runner! Used to be a couch potato. Actually mystic messenger got me running thanks to Zen always talking about his workouts. It motivated me!
I just ran for the first time outside of gym class and sports. I think im going to do that more now.
So I used to run, but I haven’t run in over a year and I’ve gained a bunch of weight since I stopped. Have any of you done this and been able to get back into it? Was it hard or easy? What motivated you to get back into it?
Thanks for advice I often tend to do longer than required runs because I love long runs so much. Great video!
I might be running 28 km a week, and for many people that perhaps isnt a long run considered but to me.. it is.. im trying as slow as relax as possible to run full 10km.. but im always struggling at the middle.. i dont care about my pace i only want to run full of that 10 km..
Good information, I usually just drink a bottle of water, or Gatorade, and eat a pickle and I’m good to go.
Having a good cardiovascular system is great but the downside to long running is messing your joints up later in life. Little and often is far better in my opinion for a long and happy life.
But whats a long run? For me (beginner, started out a few weeks ago) anything more than 5k seems long I’d be super happy to run 10k without dying someday
As a physician and runner, I loved this simple but accurate merging of science and the athletic experience.
I like how this guy had to wear a piece of tape over the Nike symbol, lol
When you are looking 20 to 25% of your mileage should you just be looking at your running volume or overall training load?
I only generally do 1 or 2 runs a week with my long run being around 15miles + or 5miles. But will have gym sessions, bike rides and mobility work on top.
It seems to be working, I just ran my first marathon just under 4 hours which I was really happy with
Great marathon runners don’t eat pasta, they consume anti-inflammatory foods. Most pasta, unless whole grain only causes your blood sugar levels to spike, causing inflammation. It’s better to consume greens, vegetables etc.
15 miles into a marathon, and you have 7 to go?.. What about the other 4.2 miles?
interesting, so what happens after running a long distance when in the ketonic state? is it possible to top up on fat and protein rather than carbs to keep going or is that something the human body doesn’t agree with or isn’t designed for?
Also, how long could you could go without cars just in general life?
iam a mid distance runner, 5k-10k, mostly because i have to do do strength training and hiit Training just after running. I would love if you post a video on science behind MMA FIGHTS, because it involves almost all muscles and both aerobic and anaerobic respiration.
Long distance running builds discipline. Not recommending it every day though, just ones or twice a week, else your muscle mass will be decreased.
can u suggest a cheap yet efficient energy drink based on its contents?
I run at the gym and Thought running 6 kilometers was actually good..
I need to get better then!
I love watching people work out on TV from the comfort of my amazing couch while inhaling bags of chips, buckets of ice cream and of course chugging beer..that’s my workout
Distance runner (marathon at 16) and chemistry nerd! Nice channel.
Studies also show that carb loading needs to be preceded by a week of not eating carbs, just like taking caffeine helps if you haven’t taken any for a week as well.
No, defenitely no!
Long runs are extremely good for your health!
I dont run for an event. I can actually do something without external factors.
I like running in it self, therefore I run!!!
If you are stupid enough to go faster and harder than you are fit to do, then you can always hope that you are intelligent enough to learn from your injuries.
If you cant run, just because you like running, then dont run!!!
Been running for a long time but I never knew you start burning fat at the 20 mile mark. Thanks for this video:)
I like this one because I’m a runner. I’m training for my 4th marathon
It is not about the distance the most important is your technique at the time of running if you have bad technique you will have imfuries
I have been a runner for a lot of years now. I am not a crazy runner like Rogan’s friend I just run for the health & well being benefits. I do also enjoy the fact that it keeps me looking in good shape. But in my experience running is the number one cure for any anxiety/depression I am dealing with. Pushing yourself to that limit (not over doing it) feels really good & your brain releases feel good endorphins. It also helps me fall asleep if I have insomnia. I recommend it to anyone who is struggling with self esteem, anxiety, or depression. It might not cure it, but it certainly will improve you well being.
So what training do I need to do to run a 20 mile run in 3ish weeks. I’ve always done distance running but never 20 miles . Please give advice.
Its funny to me that she says when that she runs she starts thinking creatively & thinks a lot clearer. When I am running it is the opposite, but I enjoy it. When I am running my mind just clears & all I really think about is putting one foot in front of the other. It is very relaxing to me to not think about or worry about anything when I am running.
what about fat adapted athletes who only use water during marathons? you’re only educating on one side of the equation, which is misinformation…
