I love how even though white bread (as an example) was mentioned as not the greatest source of carb, it wasn’t labeled as a “bad” food & they were included in a balanced diet.
In this video, even fast food & refined carbohydrates were not called bad! Its just food.
But to maintain & improve your overall health(mental, emotional, physical,etc.) there are foods that you’d wanna eat more frequently & there are those which you would not.
As some one who is struggling with maybe a light version of orthorexia(It’s not an official diognosis, it’s just what I’ve come to believe it is, so perhaps eating disorders in general), I really appereciate that. Thank you for this video.

The part about antioxidants is perhaps out of date or at least incomplete. Additionally it is deeply incomplete without discussing one’s gut flora. Finally, it should mention that carbohydrate consumption is not necessary for the brain (due to gluconeogenesis).

Hello..:)….I want to ask you a question. What is your opinion about protein powder?Because Protein powder is process product too. And not just minimaly procces food. I heard that protein powder can change gut microbiom in a bad way and i heard that some of good quality protein powder contains imunoglobin and lactoferin, and they are really helpful for good imune system,…so i am little bit confused…….But I try hit my protein intake around 80 g per day, because i do resistent training and really hard for me to eat

Just watched this after having my first processed food in probably a year. My friend insisted on lunch today but the only place I will eat at that makes everything fresh from scratch was closed. Well I hoped to choose something that was minimal processed but clearly I was wrong. I barely made the ten minute ride home as fast as I could to the bathroom (tmi I know) and immediately was tired slow sluggish. I lost so much motivation I had to lay down and fell asleep. Now even 4 hours later I feel terrible and even my lips and face are tingly and numb. I knew better, should skipped lunch and made it here. Great reminder to me how bad that garbage is for you!

Love the simple facts of this video, thank you. Highly processed foods are convenient due to the lifespan not to mention a busy life. I have found frozen vegetables have been crucial in a cooking plan with a zero chemically processed food, no additives or preservatives. Cutting out all fast foods and highly processed foods leaves you with no choice but to eat clean, Eg a handful of almonds as a snack. I’ve found myself feeling much better mentally and physically from cutting out all food sources chemically enhanced/highly processed.
The glycemic index is higher. The food is broken down and absorbed faster even if it still has the fiber. It also has the fiber taken out which makes it worse. It cause s blood sugar to crash making you hungry.

My gut pain made me think i had anxiety and i should see a therapist
I know how food affects my gut. I Have been gluten free for 2 medical conditions. One medical condition since I was a child, and another medical issue since I was a teen. Since I started being gluten free ( 1970’s)I’d never felt so damn good. I also have a tree nut allergy, and egg allergy. I eat a lot of fresh Vegetables and fruit, and a protein with a small carb. I eat very little processed food. I had to see a different doc, so I filled out the form, and when the nurse took my paperwork, she said I didn’t list the medications. I said I don’t take any medications, she was shocked! She asked “none at all?” I said if I have a bad headache I may take an oc like Tylenol. Then I see the doc, he says the same thing, I hadn’t listed my meds, I told him the same thing, he said “ women your age take medications” I said “ medications are for people who need them” and I left.

So vegan is the best diet for humans? I think this proves that we are herbivores because our bodies deteriorate at a slow rate when we consume meats or unhealthy foods. The processed food thing just seems a bit too neat to be plausible. I don’t doubt some processed food is bad but everything was extracted from natural ingredients at some point. Even petrol is distilled from oil made of shellfish. I think we need more case by case analysis.

A calorie devoid of nutrition….doesnt satisfy hunger. When your body needs a nutrient…say calcium….it has only one way to ask you to go get it. HUNGER. So if you go drink a coke….guess what? Loaded with calories….but your body says…hummmm no calcium in that…so it sends out the hungry signal again. If you continue to put junk in your face…you will always be hungry….your body will keep begging you for nutrition. This is the cause for obesity. Eat an apple…..I bet you’ll feel full before you can eat the whole apple. Try it. Why do we skip the salad at the all you can eat buffet? Because if you eat the salad….you cant fit anything else. So Eat fruits & vegetables all day everyday. When you cook, cook as if you’re cooking for 10 people….uses the same amount of pots & pans & bowls. Then after dinner, pull out Tupperware & freeze in single serving containers servings of that meal. Chicken, rice & veges….or whatever you made…there should be 6 or 7 to put away. These are as convenient as frozen dinners.
I wish this was somehow able to be condensed into 5 minutes haha cuz the average persons eyes would glaze over watching this but we ain’t average baby hahah love this stuff!

This reminds me of that project i heard about to create a fork that simulates different flavors in your mouth using electrodes or something to stimulate your tastebuds and release chemicals. The idea came about so if you are eating a salad, you would TASTE cake or chicken wings without actually eating cake or wings.
Idk if the project is still ongoing, but now you know we might one day have flavor-manipulating utensils that can make kale taste like potato chips.

You are wrong. Picking and bringing food to the market (transportation) so you can buy it and then eat it is not “processing” the food. Processed food is food made in a factory that comes in boxes, bags, bottles, cups, jars, cartons, and cans that contain various additives and chemicals not found in whole foods. These foods are basically pre digested containing very little fiber. Weight gain caused by these foods will be the least of your problems on such a diet. Eating these foods over time will lead to metabolic syndrome (obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease, cancer and stroke). And if you add regularly eating fast food to this diet you will become very sick in your later years and then die early.

Americans who say “eat broccoli and organic food and stay healthy” make me giggle.
Broccoli is FILLED with carcinogenic substances, organic or not. Like what did you think? That a humble farmer has a big field and he waters his plants and waits patiently and then sells to you? Your soil is dirty as hell, your veggies are in packages.
The only way to eat healthy is to move out to the suburbs in areas where man isn’t present much. North. Where people hunt for food and grow their own veggies. THAT is healthy. Your frozen veggies IS NOT. Catching free salmon in Alaska is an insane healthy form of omegas. Buying salmon on your “organic store” is not because it’s all born and grown in tanks.
Believe me, I live in Greece. Greece is probably the country with the best food in the world (and I don’t mean the garbage you eat as tourists, because there is Greek food in villages that you can’t even imagine).
There are ways to order quality meat from Argentina etc but it’s expensive as hell. Veggies tho is pretty straight forward. You need to grow it yourself in soil traditionally and in a proper area. All this hydroponic bs is a joke.
However, IMO it’s not so much what you eat, it’s what you DONT eat. Veggies from store compared to growing your own isn’t gonna kill you. Avoiding every processed food tho has a big influence.
Refined sugar is poison to your cells but the sugar in raw ripe fruit is great for your cells.

I missed the part about carbs. I understood that cookies pasta and white bread are carbs that are processed. What are unprocessed carbs or whole food carbs? You didn’t give a description of what they are, or did you?
I always wondered how jams and jellies don’t have Vitamin C or fiber if the first ingredient is strawberries. Like don’t you just cook down the fruit and add pectin and maybe sugar?

I see this as decades too late half measures by a disgraced institution. “Scientists” should have been following the literature for all these years. The question about artificial sweeteners shows he still knows where the funding comes from and who’s really in charge, although credit could be given for overtly stating his recommendation was not based on science.
The sugar in my diet is definitely the sweeteners I put in my coffee. At my doctor’s office a few physicals ago he was basically telling me I was diabetic because my A1C was so high. I told him no, give me 30 days and I’d take care of that on my own. He gave me 44 days. In that time all I did was replace the sugar/honey in my coffee with stevia. My A1C retest was dead bang normal in the middle of the range.
I was so disappointed to see my coworker who was eating healthy for two months (losing weight and having better moods) went backwards after I moved out and gained all the weight back and more and is all over the place
