This dish sounds like it has way to many flavors going on at once.
‘Impaling’ process not ‘”impelling”
Ex Capt H.M.S. Astute.Royal Navy.
i go to your oven cooked shish kabobs 95% of the time, ( i’m greek and used to doing kabobs on a grill )…
But you have it nailed down with the the oven roasting over water OR chicken broth….
Can i Give You % Thumbs up, LOL Great video, nice personality, Great concept……
Yeah i switch things up, But you have it nailed down with the roasting over liquid………
Jeezo, you do realise that, that much salt cannot be good for you…
Dear Chef John, can you please make some child friendly finger food.we have small children and I am running out of ideas in quarentine. We all love your videos, and watch them often together with my children and I find your accent and voice very soothing. Thank you for the memories.
You are almost Turkish sir, that looks great but I have to disagree on the ketchup
I’ve Made It Many Times,, Also With Pork & Beef…The Only Difference Is I Like To Put Tomatoes,, Bell Pepper,, Onion & Pineapple Chunks In Between..Also A Little Garlic In My Marinade.
Poor guy doesnt know how ineffective those automatic salt shakers are:(
These look really good… I’ve watched a few of your grilling episodes… You guys are awesome!!!
Ketchup…is crap. Unless you are making a casserole, or “hot dish” as Minnesotans call it, it should be avoided.
i’m from israel, if you order a kebab here you will get ground lamb/meat with spices and herbs mixed in, so its so weird seeing this called kebab
Great way to cook chicken kabobs. Of course we all switch recipes up to our own desire, but the method of cooking skewed chicken over a pan with liquid is ingenious to a tender / juicy kabob.
I prefer a roasted finish, so I add 10 minutes of broiling time after, while continually rotating for an even toasted finish.
5 of 5 STARS for your video!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks….
Please subscribe to my channel ‘caricom gamer’ thank u https://youtu.be/PvDHQPeD5HM
Anything BURNT is pure carbon particles and can cause stomach and bowel cancer….even burnt toast…pure carbon particles
isn’t it better to put some veggies in between? It also gives flavor onion and peppers
I want to watch his videos but the upward inflection in his voice at the end of every single sentence is like nails on a chalkboard. Sorry.
hey man, i’m from iran and we take our kabob very seriously so don’t think im making stuff up. dark meat is the tastiest meat for chicken kabob so i recommend dark meat (although white meat is also good)
Your kabab spelling is wrong
It should be kabab not kabob
Thank you guga
Kebabs! Thanks for reminding me. I’ll try yours. Eat organic. Liking your brown rice too.
i laughed at the automatic salt grinder but overall found this a good video! dont be so nervous! you cook gewd!
I love the fact that his commentary is punctuated with humorous lill remarks and his sing songy way of talking is so endearing. He clearly loves and respects food.
Overcooked meat with undercooked vegetables, I can’t stand him for his singing accent, but I wholeheartedly agree with that
I try it and it was delicious and easy to make. thank you for the idea
They look nice, but where are the Veggies, onions and papers
he even puts it in a turkish taco.. we get it.. its the best chicken we’ve ever seen lol. im dying to make this, too bad we are on quarantine and i don’t have chicken at home uggghhhh
Man can not live by chicken and bread alone. Lol. Even jesus smiled at that
You made a shawarma not a Turkish burrito/taco thanks for the recipe though
Can I suggest you substitute the cinnamon with ground ginger (works very well with the garlic for a more authentic flavour)…also add some paprika to give the marinade a more appealing colour.
Very nice. I cooked it, it is ver delicious. You are the best man.
Guga, I never know when to take it off the grill, i like the char but i end up drying it out… how do i tell if the chicken is ready to pull off the grill?
You dont marinate meat with limes or lemons. You cook the meat with the citric acid. just in case someone tries that thinking it would be a good idea.
Turkish food is delicious, but Persian (Iranian) version of chicken kebab is totally another story
Great idea steaming the kababs, never would of thought of that, Thanks for the tip just subscribed
Hello Chef Boss… I love the way u make dishes simple and ur funny lines… Love from India.!!
Guga, you should do this back, but in more if your style. This recipe is too basic.
Just made this for my family…it was freaking delicious…We love you Chef John!
Don’t use cinnamon in this recipe. It REALLY overpowers the meat. I used 2 sprinkles of it and it really made the chicken taste like crap. Instead, use allspice or nutmeg or both.
Another advice; go gently on the spiciness. That, too, overpowers the flavor. I used half a tea spoon of red chili flakes and I could get a hint of spiciness.
Looking at his dress first thought he is out of operation room…..
You really don’t need to speak with the goofy “lilt” in your voice incessantly through your presentations.
Not good pieces for grilling + wrong way of putting on squares

If that’s what you think of Kabob, then you haven’t had a Persian cook it for you.
I had some leftover baked chicken from yesterday. So i tried it out for dinner and it was pretty good. I burned it a bit but it just gave it a grilled taste. I didnt have any mixed herbs with me but I had those italian herbs packets from Domino’s and they worked just as well.
Obviously he’s no chef jkn he said obviously approximately 2k times
OMG
Dude you totally killed it
Definitely gonna try this weekend
I just can’t wait
This guy’s dope!!
Does no research,
Claims himself to be food stylist
And makes really good food, really easy.
fair play to you for having a go David, this won’t pack a flavour punch, but will do for a fast 30 min weekday meal. invest some time and make a better marinade. oven cooking kebabs is a no no, must be cooked on a hot grill like your bbq only, never any other way as you will dry out your meat instantly even if you put water in the pan. trust me i know exactly how to cook food to perfect taste.
That’s one of my favorite showing how to cook great job thanks
I’ve never been to Turkey, but the food there looks so bomb.
It’s definitely on my foodie destination short list.
I’m sure this guy reviews the dollor tree meals. Lol. Same voice.
Awesome recipe, added my own twist with the seasoning n that water in the pan trick worked perfectly was very tasty definitely going to go on the menu
Just watched this.. Great explanation and easy to follow for id**s like me
Thanks. Didn’t use your recipe but it gave me an idea for the way we like them. Better than going out in the rain to the Bar B Que.
I was going to use chicken breast but he said he wouldn’t. I am stuck now, that’s all i have in the fridge
Thanks im making this today but with no whiskey lol✌the camera lady is a good recorder 7819 421pm
Thanks David. I like this Recipe, this will be my first time making chicken Kabobs. I am making it right now with yellow rice.
Thank you very much for the video. I think you better add oil at end. They reason for that is if you you add oil at binging it seal the chicken and won’t let the teast of lime and other sauces penetrate in to the chicken.
Oil is just to cover the chicken not to be burned fast.
Dude put on this shirt like he was gonna be denied entry to his own kitchen
Watch please verry tasty and easy https://youtu.be/o8aA4ASv34U
THIS IS MORE LIKE PERSIAN CHICKEN KEBABS, THEY MAKE LIKE THAT WITH GROUND BEEF 2
I have chicken breast in my refrigerator and searching some Gugas videos on chicken and happily found thia video but it isnt VIDEO i was searching for. Its nice to imagine how he transformed from this into something amazingness called his new videos. GOOD JOB
I tho never make it with chicken breast…because dried up & gets hard when is DONE cookED! Ohhh NO tormack & yogurt either
seeing how far you’ve come….you’re seriously a huge inspiration
Hello David, I love the way you explain the cooking for this dish; I will do soon. Thanks
I’m making it now, the smell is delicious… Hopefully it turns out good
I middle east we dont use whiskey so what should I replace? I want to try this looks easy and delicious
Breast chicken
Salt
Pepper
Lemon
Soya sauce
Oil is secret
Smallest to largest piece
10 minutes marinade
Charcoal better
Enough space to breadth
Paste with remaining sauce
do you have to put so much stuff just for two pieces of chicken breasts? that’s insane.
My living place does not have charcoal grill. This video is a huge help. Thank u
I don’t even care whether or not it’s Turkish. Good is good!❤️
I’m Turkish, and this recipe is not. Please don’t put cinnamon on chicken.
Is there some kind of waygu chicken? Super fancy expensive chicken from far away lands?
Why do you talk like you’re singing with higher notes on some syllables? Kinda like yoda?
Looks so good I even want to eat that can you Deliver it to me by the way I live at 717 south 12th street
Honey and brown sugar hahahaha WTF is that, is it a meal for prisoners!!?? I guess yep
Wow. From eating chicken on a skewer back then to eating wagyu A5 all the time. You’ve come so far Guga, I really salute you! I look forward to see your future videos!
Sriracha by Tobasco is a travesty when the original is the bee’s knees.
Or be like a real shashlik maker from eastern europe, and dump all that chicken and use your hands to mix that shit like a man. Instead of using tongs.:P
You need the vegetables in between.salt and soy bean maight be salti.
Great job but ive baked at a higher temp to achieve more chare and carmelization
I am a proud GERD here to enjoy chicken amidst the stomach storm
Thank you, I just made it without the pineapple. Good recipe
This is 2. 5+ million videos really.. He does not know anything about kebab.. Olive oil realky
Thanks very much for sharing your recipes, I like to return and
visit your great channel all the time, regards!!
As a persian cook, I think your take was fairly spot on. Couple things to note is that thighs amd legs are traditionally preferred as well as bell peppers are also often added to the marinade
I made this recipe and it came out excellent… strangers were not only paying me to make them some but running to the supermarket for more!!! Thanks for sharing
Great job. You make it look so easy. I can see your channel growing buddy.
i am wondering how he uses cumin with chicken white meat, yogurt and lemon never works together, never mind this is muslim recipe, they are the only people who uses yogurt with lemon
The people here want their hand held. Eye ball it! Great job!!
It would be helpful if you can properly give quantity of each ingredient in description box + kindly mention exact baking time. As you said 50 to 60 min bakingthe gap of 10 min can either make the pieces dry or uncooked from inside.
david I want to thank you, it is simple. and that is what I was looking for.
Professional vocalists train for years to be able to alternate between head and chest voice like this. I just can’t get enough!
Stupid guy your talking way is so irritating me. i don’t want to watch your videos any more.
Can you trust a guy drinking whisky / tequila in a monitor glass..
you absolutely did research bud, this is identical to every video on Turkish kabobs ever made. im just saying dont lie…ok go…..
Yesss you know how to season. Recipe came out slamming. I added cayenne pepper instead of saffron, and alittle more olive oil. Finger licking, finger licking, finger licking goooooood.
David. I just wanted to thank you for this Chicken Kabobs recipe. It came out delicious
i ussed to work in middle eastern resturant cooking these, i used small grill just like that at home. at the resturant they had a metal cover over the flame but it got so hot when u baste chicken with butter it would cause flare up that would help cook it faster and give it nice char
Chef John you kick balls dude! How can this dish be done for restaurant service? Like you marinade the meat but then you can’t let it sit too long? And also is this possible without the grill?
Nice try chef! By the way this is called chicken tikka not chicken kebab.
Might be a good idea to put ingredients quantity and also the oven settings..
hey buddy excellent video I like how you break it down make it nice and simple for people that’s the way it should be awesome video keep up the good work dude
I love your setup. Two reo bars and lump wood coal. That’s the way to do it!
Thank you for the video! I’m making this tonight. But, one thing….. where’s the recipe for that martini????? LOL!
i recommend dont burn the food it can cause cancer. use fat or spray oil
What temprature should the oven be? I think u said 140degrees but on your oven It reads 400 degrees!! Kindly make it clear! Thnx
The chicken thighs have so much more flavor than the breasts!!
Honestly this recipe sucked. I used the same sized chicken you did and it was well undercooked
Check out the recipe: https://www.allrecipes.com/Recipe/244632/Turkish-Chicken-Kebabs/
Ingredients:
4 chicken breasts
3 garlic cloves
1 tablespoon oregano
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon coriander powder
4 tablespoons olive oil
lemon juice from 1/2 a lemon
Marinate for 2-24 hours
BAKE at 220C / 440 F preheated oven for 50 minutes to 1 hour. Flip half way through the cooking time and brush with more marinade so the meat doesnt dry up and remains juicy. Set the oven grill function on so the meat will taste like if it was grilled.
Baking time depends on what type of chicken you use and how big you cut the pieces. The usual chicken breast in the supermarket has added water in it. This is why I had to bake it for almost an hour. Yours might take less.
Hey dude, If you want a juicy kebab just add Olive oil and soya sauce, this is the secret, and please this is not a breakfast so forget honey or brown sugar for the kebab
Seams like you really eyeballed how much of the spices and sauces you added. I’m not a experienced cook but most recipes I’ve seen on youtube people measure the engredients.
Made it tonight for my wife and I, was blown away by the flavor despite any marination. She was surprised when I told her I didn’t marinate it. Added to ours favs list. Thank you for sharing
Awesome recipe dear…here i came to ur chennal now i m inviting u to come on my cooking channal n plz do subscribe

I try recipes were they say full of flavour and it’s sooooo bland!!! Can anyone tell me if this is bland, cause it’s only lime and soy sauce ♀️
I simply cannot listen to this guy, the most annoying voice ever, up and down, up and down…..annoying af.
Chicken? Bird? They call it fowl…foul for a reason. I thought Guga was Portuguese for BEEF.
Guga could I get tips and detailed pics on making that brick grill?
Hi love this recipe and even I have my way of making it. I hope you will like it.
lol that’s so american! You don’t even have to grind your salt, come on… Great recipe tho!
Why does his voice go from high to low in the middle of every sentence

American style kebab what a news, just don’t forget the shot of oil on a side coz everyone knows that Americans love to be fat.. tzaziki sauce is Greek sauce, but I’ll leave it to you..I’ll love to see how you do gyroz. Btw if call that kebab you’re insane
Yo mommas kebab tasted the best! Erm that didn’t come out right!
I would use olive oil instead of mayo, mayo goes bad and mayo in heat is worse, can give you a bacterial infection in your gut.
lol just offended the Turkish community watching this by referring to the yoghurt dip in the wrap as Tzatziki as opposed to Cacik, big facepalm given Turks and Greeks don’t get on.
Why do u speak in iambic pentameter:
Da da da dadada
Da da da dadada
Ummmm I JUST MADE THIS CHICKEN AND I CANT STOP EATING IT. It’s the best recipe ever no joke. I’ve tried a million other.
turkish food is the best, you should do middle eastern food also its the best.
The inflection in this guys voice, not saying it’s bad but it’s nothing like I’ve ever heard before. It belongs on Sesame Street
Nice video my friend. Very good editing. Lets support each other by subscribing and do take a peek at out videos as well. I have subscribed to you already. We can think of a colab with may help both of us.
