Do you think overhead cable extension works the same muscles as the dumbbell overhead extension? I have better form doing it with the cable and it is very hard for me to have good form with the dumbbells. Probably dumb question but I’m just starting out

I do that last exercise with a dumbell because it works just as well and doesn’t put as much stress on your shoulders

I tried the close grip benchpress multiple times, and I’m having MASSIVE issues with snaping and pinching in my elbows when doing it. No idea why, but I’m having trouble with my elbows in general when doing an exercise where my arm is extended under load. Benchpress, pushdowns, overhead extension, and the list goes on, unfortunately.

These exercises are good but you want to add mass and thickness to your triceps your supposed to be doing heavy compound movements. Close grip bench press triumphs all of these exercises.

*disclaimer* I really ended up hurting the bottom portion of one of my hands in the last exercise and ended up damaging my nerves in my hand preventing me from doing my job. For beginners I say at be careful not to put pressure on your hands while closed-fisted, I was mistakenly doing this and wound up damaging my hand while it was clenched. The bottom portion of your hand is very soft and easy to hurt if not aware.

I have different muscle insertions on my biceps and triceps on each side on both arm’s

The idea that higher load is great for development does not seem to be based on any science other than the assumption that big weight = big muscle. Obviously an advantageous biomechanical position will allow more weight but all those compound exercises are multimuscle exercises and your weak point might not even be the tricep so you will be held back by irrelevant muscles. If you don’t get pain from those exercises then I don’t see why you would have to avoid them either unless they mess with your split but I’ve never seen any real evidence of why heavy load is better. All it seems to do is grind the joints to dust sooner.

Thanks a lot it’s really good video to grow triceps. I had a issue, my muscles lagging in growth in between long head and medial head. Is there any specific exercise for the growth in that particular place?
I like how you break down the movements like this. Even though things seem so simple repeating instructions like this in your head while performing reps keep one from letting their form get sloppy

2. Incline dumbbell overhead extension
3.Rope or Bar Pushdown
4. Weighted tricep dips

Good exercises, but lower the weight and use full ROM.
Preferly use one arm at a time at overhead extension because you can also more easily reach full ROM.

Hey Mike when ever I try triceps extension barbell my elbows flares out I cant control it doesn’t matter if its light weight or loaded. Should I give up doing the same and focus on dumb bells? The form is good for me with dumbells? Or can you recommend a technique to improve the form

It is so lame and mind boggling people have the time to exert effort over an individual’s successful physique. The negatives if people can achieve such physique naturally is and will always be the “misery loves company” mentality. Yes one can achieve his physique naturally if one has the genetics, nutrition, work ethics and rest down to the T. And yes one needs to take steroids to achieve his physique if one has ungifted genetics, lacks nutrition, work ethic is unsatisfactory and parties more than rests. So to say particular individuals are on gear is nothing but false statements unless he/she hired you to inject the needle in their bodies or hand over the pills to them or if they came straight out and told you or the world. Finally, to those that say “oh he’s on juice no way I can achieve his physique naturally” then you’re probably right because you may be the genetically ungifted or lack effort, or do too much for a natty type. For those that say his physique is achievable natty you’re correct as well as some are gifted genetically and are disciplined.
I don’t know what’s going on with my triceps in my right arm but they are damn near non-existent. I’ve been trying to train them but my right arm gets burned out so quickly, it never feels like it’s getting worked. After a few sets me right triceps can’t even handle 5 lbs while my left arm can handle quadruple that easily.

working the triceps really make your arms look much bigger, more so than the biceps so don’t skip them alot guys just do biceps and don’t even consider the tri’s.

I noticed that he does the close grip bench press on a flat bench. I have done flat and declined and I think decline feels better to me…is there any reason/benefit to using one over the other?
I’ve been using cables for tricep kickbacks over the last 2 months. I like them even better personally, there’s more even and constant tension the whole movement

DB french curls are more prone to cause a shoulder injury due to the internal rotation of the rotator cup in an unnatural position and possibly neck issues. I would advise caution or eliminate this movement altogether.

The triceps extension or ‘skull crusher’ used to be my fav triceps excersize, untill recently i was not able to do it or benifit for it regularly due to pain in my elbow. Every time i try to push the weight from down up, i get this “crack” at the back of my elbow close to my triceps, it does not hurt after the excersize however, only during. This ‘crack’ feeling was present from the first time i started doing this excersize, but it wasnt a major issue back then, just recently it stopped me from doing the excersize from the struggle. I went to the doctor and the treatment did not help. I hope someone can respond i dont want to miss out on this exercise.

Can you explain how certain exercise target certain head and not the other head? I feel like you just randomly throw some “head” into the exercise without any explanation. If we analyze through the joint motion, you just overlap alot of different information lol
