i love your content, i have watched your other videos over and over. the topics, themes and perspective are fantastic. i get excited to see more content from your channel. good luck to any project you put yourself into because i am happy to see that work and amazing editing that goes into these videos. good long form analysis is hard to find or sit through for +20 min and i am glad to find a channel that does it well.
I want episode to please I like so much this drama..❤❤how to watch this drama…
Someone explain why I started crying when Mina started crying? ❤️

ShoutOut sa mga nanonood nito pagkatapos makita sa FB!
Great video I am looking forward to what you’ll do in the future
Just one thing for the future video about Controversy in games journalism aka “Gamergate”: I hope you adress that it was used as a scapegoat to justifiy harassment of women. A lot of the things said about for example Quinn were disproven and people still use it as an excuse to hate on sarkesian. Say what you want about how for example she obtained some footage for her videos, but she pointed out things that were (still are) wrong with potrayal of women in video games.
mina is a baby
she so cute !!
also anyone wanting a gugudan comeback ??
It’s more beautiful if have 16 episode but the ending is so very disgusting how about the pther girl
she is so cuteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
عفاكم فين غادي نقلا هاد المسلسل كامل عفاكم ممكن مساعدة بليززز
Ive watched it 2 times and still i want more than the ending
Hi there. I found your video on reddit and left you some comments regarding the quality of it.
Nicely done.
Amazing video! I really agree with you on walking simulators bringing about a new direction for games to go in. It certainly is going to be an exciting genre to watch in the coming years.
My favorite walking sim is probably Firewatch, but there are two others that I really love. The Beginner’s Guide (also by one of the creators of The Stanley Parable) is really interesting for its meta examination of game development. I also really liked Eidolon. It has a few survival elements to it, but it is mostly about exploring and piecing together the stories of the landscape. The art style is very minimalistic but can be really beautiful and haunting at times.
i have been on youtube for 4 years now and this is the best video i have ever seen here ❤️
16:13 it was ‘the heirs’ school right? the one that kim woo bin and lee min ho act on
Can someone please tell me how many episodes this drama has?
I get that she’s in love in all, but I didn’t like how she tried to break them up. If her boy best friend is long love then she should be happy for him.
I might be in the minority here but I’m glad mina confessed to him at the end because now she can move on with her life because even though he smiled at her confession he really doesn’t deserve her as a gf I mean he was so insensitive to her feelings when they were friends and he took her for granted on many occasions. I’m 100% sure that he knew how she felt about him she practically wore her heart on her sleeve I’m glad she called him out when he put her on the spot it made him realise how much of a shitty friend he was to her and how often he ignored her feelings (literally the only time when he asked her about herself is when he was trying to get an answer from her about jayeon) so to me if you can’t treat your friends with basic respect then how should I expect you to treat me with it???
oh no she can get easily nice and caring persone, why she confessed him I’m unhappy with her.
IF I CANT HAVE BYEON WOOSEOK CAN I JUST HAVE THE PROFESSOR AT 43:12
i cannot ship them bec mina looks like 13 eventhough she was 18 when this short series was released
I also like my best friend for a long time but he ended up finding someone before i could even tell him
It sucks that tell tale games shut down I wanted Minecraft story mode Season three
I liked the facts i hated how the narrorator of this vidio tries to be entertaining. And the anoying repeditive pictures of the animay guy
I totally understand why mina did that, it takes a lot of courage to speak
I’d be interested to know what your thoughts on the Last Guardian are.
Amazing video, but let me say the things I dont agree.
The Witness is more of a puzzle game, I think, than a walking simulator, but I do get why you’ve included it in the video. Also, playing it is way different then watching someone else, because of the puzzles and because of the many different paths. Fiding how to complete this game by yourself changes the experience a lot.
I also dont think Gone Home gives you the same experience if watching someone playing it. The order you find things, you, yourself, taking every information and learning them for yourself… someone playing may miss some texts or details, while you would miss other ones when playing it.
You already said about Stanley, which is also different when playing or watching.
So these game do have a value. And at the end, even Firewatch or Dear Esther can be a bit different when playing, because they are, like you said, interactive experiences. But yeah, not that much differences from watching someone.
Your channel is amazing, and I wonder if you’ll make new videos? Maybe talk about the art of death stranding, as a follow up from the MGS video? The editing is one of the best I’ve seen, the writting and art too.
Great job!
I had a pleasure of watching walking simulator genre born and grow in front of my eyes unlike most other big cool genres, that i learned by essays in journals mostly and i need to say couple of things to you.
Firstly, thank you for that brief, but finely paced video. Big props to you.
Secondly, first time an acclaimed game in this genre effectively tried montage technics in telling a story is Gravity Bone and it`s successor Thirty Flights of Loving. It is really minimal in time consuming and rich in impact, so i wholeheartedly reccomend it to you.
Thirdly, you have footage of Brothers: a Tale of Two Sons, that`s hardly a walking simulator, sprinkled all over the video, but not even mentioned Begginer`s Guide (maybe it will be in your depression video? I am still discovering your work). But i really approve your stance on the Dr. Langeskov (with Stanley Parable included, it is the holy trinity of games-as-contemporary-art-for-everyone-in-need-of-understanding for my taste).
Finally, i trule believe (as i tried both ways naturally) that playing this stories actively is vastly more satisfying expirience than watching it. There are GAMES after all. Yes, they truly are.
And i hope you already played What Remains of Edith Finch, that came out only couple of monts after this video.
Thank you!
It kidna pisses me off that people use Esther as something that is among the first ones that combined walking and seeing the story but you have series like Echo Night on Ps1 but none giva a shit…
“I want to do let’s plays… however there’s not a lot that I can personally bring to the table” 1) Your pleasant voice, 2) I think you’d provide a calm (vicarious?) experience for the people watching. I feel like there’s value in hearing someone who typically tries to be impartial in their videos get emotionally attached to and remove themselves of that analytical aspect of their thought process. In any case, it’s literally been a year since you’ve posted anything and I’m still out hoping that you’ll start making let’s plays, given it would be something you enjoy.
Fire watch seems pretty interesting but I’m quite upset at the developers so I’m not supporting what they are making at the time being.
This is the first video of his I’ve ever watched, I like looking back at this one and appreciate everything he’s taught me through his videos. It’s truly amazing the videos Sid makes and I hope he’s doing well. (If you see this I appreciate you and the work you put into your videos)
I’d like to see and hear you do let’s play. Your discourse is very interesting and thoughtful. Not many let’s play have that.
his voice is like so soothing and just could fall to sleep, hearing him say beautiful medium over and over again
Try playing them in VR with Vorpx in cinematic mode. It brings walking simulators to a whole other (beautiful) level. Edith Finch looked exquisite in 3D as did rapture.
yeah, I pretty enjoyed this but…
WHERE IS JAZZPUNK?!?!
you sexy voice
Minor correction: Stanley Parable has two voice actors. There is a??female?? voice in the game as well.
I wouldn’t mind watching you play games. You seem to have very interesting views on them and I would be interested to see how it blends with actually playing them.
I have some suggestions for some walking sims if you’re interested in playing them sometime (not on youtube, just in general): What remains of Edith Finch and The Beginners Guide.
I found them interesting anyway, and though I can’t say the same about you, I’d at least watch a playthrough.
In Japan there were a ton of walking simulators on PS1. None of them were localized. Pretty much all of them were highly experimental, bizarre, narratively minimalistic and focused on the experience/3D-visuals/sounds/exploration from the first person perspective. But just like anything else related to the history of “Japan only gaming” Western players tend to have absolutely no idea and don’t bother doing their research.
Thanks for the spoiler alert in the beginning of the video, much appreciated. For that, and your pleasant voice, you just gained yourself a new subscriber. I hope you will make more videos soon. Have a nice day!
Dear Esther looks jaw-droppingly beautiful. I don’t know if it’s literally non-interactive, to the point of just being a movie; if so, I wouldn’t have much patience for it. As long as you can choose whether to walk forward or not, though, I think I’d find it incredibly meditative and pleasingly ambient, probably as a background while doing other things, which is an absolutely fine way for a game to be.
Excellent video! I think you may have been a bit dismissive of Virginia, howeverthrough all the confusion and acid trips, there is actually some there there.
I wrote about it here, if you’re interested. https://caneandrinse.com/interactivity-agency-institutional-oppression/
If not, also fine! Still a great vid.
I bought Gone Home in a Humble Bundle I think. I definitely didn’t pay 15 USD for it. I really liked it, and I don’t think it is the same to watch a youtube video.
Another that may be worth including is Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture. The environment and music are both gorgeous and immersive. The story is told at a slow pace (mostly due to the movement speed-even while sprinting), but it really gives you a chance to take in the world and explore each of the characters.
I fucking hate walking SIMULATOR play a game or watch a film mixing cut scenes into gameplay is TRASH..
I can’t really say i grew up with telltale games but since the walking dead i started to play every game because of their story choices and characters relationships
the story of edith finch corresponds to your hopes concerning walking simulators i highly recommend you and your fans either playing it or watching a let’s play of it. An engrossing narrative about a family mystery where each member of the family offers a different genre of storytelling with different although simplistic game mechanichs for each family member.
Great video. One of my favorite discussions to have around games is their unique storytelling capacities and how they can do things that other mediums can’t.
Two excellent examples of story through mechanics that come to mind are Journey and Celeste. Journey has relatively simple gameplay, but it’s engaging enough that it can convey a variety of emotional beats (whether through joyfully sliding, sneaking past dangerous areas, flying freely through the environment, or through slow slogs that convey hardship).
Celeste uses its tough but fair challenge, as well as its dynamic music and even its abstract feeling pixel art to make you feel like you’re experiencing Madeline’s journey right there with her. It’s also one of the most powerful experiences I’ve ever had with any medium.
Contrast that with another game, RiME, that appears to be similar to Journey on a surface level, but it just wasn’t that engaging to play. I considered giving up on it several times, but I’m glad I managed to pull through. The game has a beautiful, emotional, and touching story and work of art buried within it, but its mechanics did it no favors. It also could have been a small fraction of its length, and may even have been better told as a short film. It was an excellent study in what it is about a game that can make for effective storytelling, and where it might fall flat.
well, What remains of Edith Finch is the best walking simulator of the last year so far.
I’m addicted to your videos. The editing combined with your voice is impeccable
my main problem with walking simulators is that you can make a game with good and/or deep without being boring shits with nothing to do. examples:halo, last of us, metal gear, yakuza
also i don’t mind if you enjoy them. but they are not the next big step in gaming.
I have never played a walking simulator video game but because of your video I want to know so I am trying that free one that you suggested as the best one I really hope that they get better at making them but I love the concept of them thank you for this video I really appreciate it:)
As someone who has created a mediocre walking sim (Spate), I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed this video. Very insightful. Even took notes for my next walking sim.:) thanks!
My favorite is Dear Esther for it’s amazing atmosphere, but there is also one game that i reall y loved “What remains of Edith Finch” very interesting story, something similar to gone home, but there are also amazing interactive bits and unique humor mixed with sometimes dark theme it’s just a roller coaster of emotions, really recommend it.
Firewatch was one of those games that really made walking simulators.
Fantastic video, thanks for posting. Insta-subbed too. I think I’ve found my new game genre, being somewhat embarrassed in the free time availability department myself, too. Your videos do a great job of filling the epoch-spanning voids between MrBtongue’s output
Damn.. I’m currently playing The Witness so I’ll come back to this
I’d like to throw up the footnote all on it’s own, that games and let’s plays are free in the same way that this youtube video is free.
This kind of experience is kind of in a bubble.
What are your thoughts on the vanishing of Ethan Carter? I consider it a walking simulator with puzzels.
The CH in machismo should be pronounced as the CH in cheating.
I think you would enjoy “What remains of Edith Finch” Give it go
Most favourite is Firewatch, followed by Maize. If they count as walking simulators, then the entire Myst series.
Another walking simulator that I quite enjoyed (and was hoping for a sequel that never came): The Old City: Leviathan
What is the instrument sarah is playing at the end? Looks like a modified accordion, but I cant tell…
watching games/walking simulators.. more often than not the player didn’t spend enough time on things I liked to see or examine closer. Then watching and interacting are two different things. In a game, which you do more than press W (like Firewatch and Stanley Parable) you put more (emotionally) investment in, because you choose and you want to see where it leads. Pacing is the key too (get it? because pushing “w”..hohoh…..:'(. At the end you still decide how fast you’re going foward and how much time you take to absorb things. The expierence will be a different one than watching someone play.
If you don’t plan to buy, you still wouldn’t buy it when you can’t watch it for free.
Dammnit I was thinking about making this video for ages. Good Job. It’s a very good way to talk about the medium and ask some nice basic concepts about the medium like what constitutes a ‘game’. I was considering going off on one about Mountain, and also probs a bit about reaching for some junk to do with origins of stuff like environmental storytelling and influences like adventure games, or some other walking simulator adjacent concepts and stuff. No need to make it now tho.
On the topic of what constitutes ‘gameplay’; generally today ‘gameplay’ means mechanical interaction which is what walking simulator games are intentionally lacking, but as far as I can see all have gameplay. Albeit more rudimentary than traditional video games. Walking simulators are described as lacking gameplay, as if it’s a switch that is turned on and off, but I’d argue that even moments when a game is at it’s most-non interactive (like a cutscene), you are still experiencing ‘gameplay’ that can impact an experience based on how it is presented and delivered. To say that these games lack gameplay can rob them of meaningful examination of elements like the distance between meaningful developments and scenery changes, the speed of player movement, the frequency and telegraphing of when you are delivering a more directed experience to the player (deliberately restricting movements/ camera angle), as well as the use of art assets+ direction etc. These are the things that build up quality gameplay within these games, it is not lacking but merely focusing on elements that might be taken for granted in other games and bringing them to the forefront. If that shits boring for someone and they prefer stuff with actual meat in terms of mechanical interaction then cool, but I reckon what ‘gameplay’ is, is important in terms of semantics.
you guys have done the best Beatles covers I have ever heard. Great job!!
Sup Leonardo. I just stumbled upon you channel based on a recent recommendation by one of my favourite channels Shammy. The praise he gave to your content doesn‘t seem misplaced. This is the first video of yours that I clicked on, and you do such an amazing job at actually breaking a games surface and diving into mechanics, interpretations and meaning. I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to watching the rest of your content!
Also, your voice is great.
I love The Witness and The Stanley Parable and at least can understand what Dear Esther tries to bring across…
But I think this form of Storytelling can be done in other forms of games too.
Take Portal or The Talos Principle. They’re basically Walking Simulators, just with Puzzles in them, kinda like The Witness.
Or take the Dark Souls games. They are a completely different genre, but they also focus heavily on environmental storytelling.
You basically have to put together the story by taking the few confusing dialogues there are, reading item descriptions carefully and also paying close attention to your environment, the enemies and so on, since everything in those games is there for a reason and has some connection to the story. Kinda like Gone home in some way. A lot of what makes the Souls worlds seem so great is also how there are insane amounts of secrets to find, including items, which then again often have descriptions that tell you more about the story.
I watched someone play The Stanley Parable a while back and became obsessed with all the possible outcomes. I’m so thrilled to learn of this new mouthful game, thank you for including it.
Abzu, Virginia <3 Thank you for featuring these. I hold these near and dear. recommend checking em out.
For me TRESPASSER (1998) was the first game that felt like a walking simulator to me.
Though the ending was not satisfactory but the fighting scene was hilarious
As an Indie game dev, this helped me understand this genre a lot better, so thank you. I played Dr Langeskov after watching this, and really loved it! I think the last game that gave me a good laugh like that was a Monkey Island game many years ago.
I have a feeling that you will appreciate my debut game, so would like to give you a free copy of it when we finally get this thing shipped. It may still take a while, so I hope I remember my promise ;).
These aren’t Adventure games. The fact that people call these Adventures is amazing. I imagine your average walking sim fan wouldn’t be able to figure out a single puzzle in an Adventure game.
This is amazing. It shows how in 8 years The Beatles changes music with their insanely good music
Hey, I found your channel just today and I can’t believe, that youtube didn’t recommend you earlier (?!). I just wanted to say I absolutely love your content and wanted to ask you a question: What do you think (is your opinion) about The Beginners Guide? I found the game absolutely brilliant and the fact that it made me question my life and my view on other people in under an hour of play time is in my opinion pretty impresive. Thanks and keep up your good work!
Great video but i think you’re missing the point of the witness if you can watch someone else play it and feel like you didnt ruin that game completely. Blind playthrough of that game was one of the best experiences ive had in the past few years gaming.
I really don’t get the story. There’s no even an explanation. What happened to Jayeon? Did they proved that the bullies were wrong?? How did they end up like that?? I love Kang Mina but this story sucks. Grrr
If I wanted to be very confrontational, then I should buy “I love walking simulators” T-shirt and walk into a gamers convention.
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is another game in this genre that I personally think was done pretty well. Mysterious and unique puzzles. Great immersion.
tou get my sub:)
more videos like that plz!
p.s
im a big fan of walking sim
and you did a wondrous video!!
I feel like I’m the only person who liked firewatch’s ending. I didn’t expect to end up with Delilah. I knew this wasnt going anywhere. I have a wife in Australia I love, and she needs me, I’m just running away from feeling crap because I couldn’t help her. but that’s just my view.
I love your voice and the style and also the games selection just one little note or correction. Virginia wasent the first walking Simulator that used editing. A really famous example is Thirty Flights of Loving made by Brendon Chung. just a little correction also his games rock so yeah I am pretty much done now. I still subed to you for this content:)
I feel like you have a pretty restrictive idea of what “gameplay” is or can be. Virginia has some of the best gameplay of anything I have ever played. The idea that the interaction needs to be “fun” is an odd one (though its oddity depends on your exact connotation of “fun”) as one should not expect every movie or book to be “fun”. Virginia, as does every game you listed, uses the gameplay as a core part to the telling of the story. You interact with Virginia in an almost role-playing experience, deciding where you want to focus and when you want to progress. The bull in the bedroom scene is especially powerful as it uses the mechanics to give you the same progression or relief to confusion to realization that Anne feels. Virginia uses interaction not to give agency to the player or provide some sort of gameplay loop, but to enhance the connection the player feels towards the story and to allow for the player to help shape some of the subtext of the scenes. I have so often heard the complaint that so many of these games just amount to holding up on a controller for 2 hours and whenever I hear that I know that this person did not truly engage with the game. They don’t let you walk to “fill time” but to give you the freedom to stop and reflect. And whether you reflect or not is a very important choice in the majority of these stories and ignoring this choice ignores a key aspect of the story.
(I will also say that Virginia is most definitely telling a story and not just trying to be like a movie. It’s all about how focusing too much on the skeletons in other people’s closets ruins our relationships and leads to a lonely life)
I’ve been following walking simulators ever since Dear Esther was just a Moddb page, and this video perfectly put into words a lot of what I’ve felt about them. Thank you for making this.
Ihatovo Monogatari on the SNES is the oldest walking simulator I know off.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjaWxe3OTqw
the witness doesn’t fit easily in this analysis imo, as it does have an actual gameplay loop (puzzles are gameplay), it mostly lacks a story and it can’t really be enjoyed vicariously through a lets play (discussing why would spoil it)
Found this off reddit, an incredible video put together so well. Kudos!
when I actually played MCSM, I wanted the third one so much and cried, when they shutdown
OK BUT I’M STILL CURIOUS ABOUT WHAT’S WITH MINA AND THAT HANDSOME TEACHER???
I’d disagree that video games are unique in their interactivity, indeed if there is one bit of advice I would give to anyone looking to make a walking sim (although personally I’m one of the people who doesn’t like this term at all) it’d be to look at interactivity outside of gaming for inspiration. Theatre, installation art and even curation have been using interactivity to present narratives for decades.
I also don’t think it is fair to put Proteus in the same category of interactivity as Dear Esther, since the audio work on that game is incredibly responsive, I’ve heard it referred to as a digital toy which whilst I’m not keen on (people have been trying to make that term into a thing since the late 80’s) is quite apt for what Proteus is trying to do.
Also disagree about the cost/replayability issue, as personally I can’t stand when a game has the kind of collectables and clear narrative divergences that are seen as ways to make a game “replayable”. I’d much rather something have a single story good enough to revisit (you yourself mention how many times you’ve replayed Dr. Langeskov, and that’s very linear), which I have done with Gone Home, Firewatch, and Kentucky Route Zero (which I would classify as being in the same genre, even though KRZ isn’t in first person).
Lastly to end on a better note than just disagreement, there’s a nice free (though you can punt some money at the creators if you wish) first person narrative game called “Packing Up the Rest of Your Stuff on the Last Day at Your Old Apartment” by Turnfollow over at itch.io. it’s very short and very sweet.
It wasn’t until the end that I realized you never mentioned The Beginners Guide. I suppose it would have just been a redundant example since it doesn’t transform the genre but simply tells one of the best stories in a video game, and that’s an opinion that varies across all games regardless.
Brilliant essay, well done. I’m waiting for that breakthrough walking sim, too, and agree that Dr Langeskov is fantastic. I love having a dev inside my head, messing around, while I explore. It’s that dialogue between player-maker, not between characters, that drew me into video games as a writer.
Not a big deal, but in the future, please turn on vsync when you’re recording footage. There’s constant screen tearing going on in your footage of The Stanley Parable.
I hate kang mina. She did witness the accident but chose to remain silent just because she had crush on him. Jayeon was being bullied so badly just because of mina’s selfish behaviour..hate her from the bottom of my heart.
Her Father is he the mafia leader from ‘Strong Women Do Bong Soo’?!……
Anyone here in Quarantine??
The pacing of this video is wonderful. And that clipping mask gradient work on the title breaks, I think the angle even changed for some of them. That looked so cool!
I’ve played Proteus, The Stanley Parable, and the Witness. I use Proteus as a meditation. It gets quite cold where I live and I work outside in it so sometimes an actual hike in the woods (far outside the city I live in) isn’t a welcome thought. Getting lost in and finding some quite in my mind seeing the sights and the occasional creature interaction is all I want from that game and with lawn mower type ear covers to block out other sounds I’m able to slowly achieve what I can in an actual walking meditation. Zoning out and being present.
The Stanley Parable makes me smile, first it lets me be a little rebellious because the game prods me to do so in order to see more of what the game has to offer. Or so I think. In some ways I wish to use it like Proteus. Growing up I explored many old buildings, my father’s business of moving old stuff out of empty old school buildings or old houses left me alone with old easily haunting rooms. I was once alone in an abandoned school building for 5 hours at night, most of the lights didn’t work. I could either fear it or become fixated on the neatness (better word?) of the building, of the structures lines, of the spaces it made, and of the atmosphere it gave in the moment and in the past. Back to Stanley Parable, I wish I could just slowly roam the whole building in a round where the Narrator is so annoyed with me that he leaves me to my own boredom, where I could gleefully see what the virtual architecture made. Which reminds me is Antichamber a walking simulator?
The witness is an art piece to me, as a former art student in college, I get the same feelings and mental tickles (Best description!) as going through an art gallery. The game play engages me and surprises me.
I’m perfectly fine paying money for these games. I pay upwards of $40US to watch a movie and that’s non refundable and only a one time use at the theater. Let’s plays are great for games that interest you and for games that would never interest you. I’ve bought games because of how much fun I’ve seen let’s players have.
One thing I wish these games all gave was an achievement reward or a DLC where if you beat the game or purchase you get to explore all of the world freely, pause time, soak in moments or just hangout in your favorite room or under your favorite tree.
hi, i really enjoyed this! what a great dissection of these games’ shared vocabulary and how it’s changed over the years. your voice is super pleasant and i hope there’s loads more videos like this ahead. btw: i worked on dr. langeskov and it’s lovely hearing such nice things about it and seeing some of our approaches validated. it really means a lot, thanks so much!
Hey! I never seen some video like this, and I have to say…
SOUNDS GREAT, made me a orgasm musical.
Cheers from Colombia:D
je n’ai pas de mots pour dire à quel point c’est génial. Merci!
this is awesome the only thing i didnt liked was yesterday i prefer the only guitar and vocals type of yesterday
I really want a stranger things game, I WANNA PLAY AS STEVE!!!!
Wooooow wow woow wooow woow wowidjelozjdkzodyzhuzaoizizuzifhhz ahahah idk how it feels like
AMAZING, AWESOME, GRACIAS DESDE COLOMBIA AMIGOS, QUE BUENA BANDA, BEATLES WOULB BE SO PROUD OF YOU, BIG TRIBUTE
This video is mostly good but holy damn could you make a more annoying outro?
So I think walking sims are really good in terms of demonstrating what games are uniquely capable of doing. What stuff like Gone Home and Firewatch do that I think are really interesting is that they allow you to actually exist in a space. You know how people talk about books and they’re like, “you get transported to another world”? With games they do that immediately without you having to imagine that you’re there it’s just press start and BAM you’re there. You’re in it. You are a part of the narrative. With Gone Home and Firewatch you’re not just watching the sister of a runaway teen go through a house or watching the husband of a terminally ill wife in the forest, you ARE those characters and with that there’s a degree of resonance with the audience that literally no other medium presents. Outside of maybe Choose Your Own Adventure books I don’t think there’s any other medium with that amount of ability to make you a part of the narrative.
And while I’m at it, another thing these games do really well is choices. The thing I ultimately don’t understand about a lot of walking simulator criticism is that they harp on how there’s no failure state and that they’re not games because you can’t get a game over. The thing is though, failure states are literally limiting the choices you can make within a game!
In a game like Call of Duty I can shoot a person or I can not shoot a person. If I don’t shoot that person, that person will shoot me. If that person shoots me I am dead and I get a game over. In order to keep playing the game, I HAVE to shoot that person or else I’ll die. There’s no way you can talk your way out of it. You can’t get them to put their gun down and eventually be their friend. You can’t even surrender. You need to shoot them or else you can’t play anymore. I can’t think of anything more limiting than that.
In something like Gone Home I can go into a house and look for diary entries for the main story or i can look at the stuff my parents have been doing or I can find one of the cassette tapes, go into the living room and jam to some punk music. And the best thing about this is that none of those choices are invalid. There isn’t a timer telling you how much time you have until you have to leave, there isn’t a big scary monster you have to hide from, there’s nothing keeping you from making the choices you want to make. You can literally say fuck it to the main story and just go fuck with the random stuff around the house and I think that’s kind of amazing.
Very, very impressive!! A HUGE amount of work! As it played, I was feeling that you would end it with the very ending of “The End”. Wouldn’t that be fun live? ❤️
Thanks a lot for the eng subs. The movie is nice but the ending is a big? Regards.
Can you guys make a Beatles cover album? I want full WOTE versions of all these songs SO BAD.
They are decent but They are nowhere near how good the Beatles sound… Yes they put their own flavor on it but it just doesn’t sound as good… Some groups know how to cover the beatle songs but this group just doesn’t have it… But I’m not saying they’re badd just don’t like their flavor when they have screwed up classic songs… What I mean is if they made an album of all beatle songs I could not sing along because a background guitars and drums don’t give you that sing along feeling… All of the beatle songs give you that…….that’s the best way to describe it
My favourite part of the history is the cover of ‘A hard day’s night’, you did it very well.
Does someone know what fonts it is used on thumbnail?? ♂️♂️♂️♂️♂️♂️
WOW!!!!!! All of U they are Amazinggggg and i love the Beatles songs and the Way all of U they are Playing and so Amazing and Beautiful voices they have Each of U Congratulations and Kepp Goinggggg i love it

after my father gave me so much of the fab 4 to my life, i thought there is no more to do it better…. i was false.
Telltale: Shuts down and doesn’t pay animators and cast
Animators and Cast: excuse me wut the hecc.
Sky bound should continue the telltale line like telltale continued lucastarts
I just wanted these guys (and girl) to cover a few Beatles songs. This is some beautiful stuff here.
I bought ABZU during a steam sale and never been happier, might be my all time favorite game just because of the serenity and atmosphere of the game
Why pay $20 for a 4 hour game I can watch for free? BECAUSE GAMES ARE FUCKING MEANINGLESS IF YOU WATCH SOMEONE ELSE PLAY THEM. Life wasn’t meant to be a spectator sport, you tedious fucks.
My favourite Telltale Games game is “Tales From The Borderlands”. That game is perfection!
One of the secrets of why the Beatles were so prolific is because they were amaters who had a pure interest toward music and had the right to order things in the studio, while George Martin was a professional who was obligated to take their orders. The Beatles never felt that what they were working on was not worth it.
I love sweater guy with flutes so much energy… But you all are great love This compilation of Beatles songs amazing
Is there a longer version of this? Lol i could literally watch this for hours
I unfortunately had to hold off on this video for now, as I’m looking to play Firewatch & The Witness. But of what I saw, I’m very impressed. Bang on narration, writing, and pacing. Keep up the great work!
I’m 21 and felt like these songs are nostalgic, as if I lived during the Beatles’ times.

Minecraft Story Mode Season 2 The Last Game Of Telltale Games
Любовный треугольник наоборот? Две девушки и один парень? Радует, что девушка со скейтом не вешается на него. Достали рыбки-прилипалы в дорамах.

Minecraft StoryMode said itself: Nothing Built Lasts Forever
The Beatles will transcend any era of music. They are THE immortals. Artistry beyond compare. Anyone who thinks they are overrated are utterly clueless.
7:04 omg Dear Evan Hansen, I love that musical. I’m going to see it in February

In school, I thought they will make season 3 of Minecraft story mode but when I hear this on Jan, I was Upset and I say ‘I guess Minecraft Story mode season 3 won’t come out’. RIP Telltale Games……… October 4, 2004-October 2019.
Sam & Max was my favourite original-ish series from Telltale.
I’ve been reading Bone for years and I just now realized that the Bone family are supposed to look like sideways femurs
Telltale shuts down in 2018
Less than 1 year later in 2019
Happy fucking news: Telltale has revived
Fans of Telltale Games realising it won’t be the same: I’m glad they’re back but it won’t be the same WTF?!
What about the Lego games? Jk but I’m pretty sure they helped.
You didn’t even talk about 7 days to die I’m kind of disappointed in this video
Oh my darling oh my darling OH MY DARLING clementine u are lost and gone forever dreadful sorry clementine…❤️
Tbh I wanted to see a Telltale series of Stranger things, sad to see it would never be
I think that skybound should take over Minecraft Story Mode and do a third season.
Back to the future was their most sucsessful game by farrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!
I guess LSD: The Dream Emulator counts as a walking sim and that was out back on the PS1
Nice recap.
Clem is one of the best videogame or movie characters of all time, despite some so-so changes about her on season two and season three.
I’m happy the final season came out whole and good enough.
IT would great to hear to all tours entire versions… are great all!!!!❤
Damn. I was looking forward to the wolf of among two and tales from the borderlands
I was honestly surprised that you encouraged let’s plays for walking simulators in this video. I started playing video games fairly recently and one of the first games I ever picked up was Gone Home. I played it, loved it, and moved on. Recently I’ve gotten a girlfriend who was interested in games but didn’t know where to start so I watched her play Gone Home. Watching another person experience something that was such a unique experience for me was jarring and honestly kind of uncomfortable. I guess it makes sense money-wise but its a bit like reading a book with someone else’s running commentary in my mind: weird weird weird.
TELLTALE BEST GAME DEVELOPER ALL TIME TWD BEST GAME I’VE EVER PLAYED 2012-2019
I played Wallace and gromit curse of the were rabbits! That game was fire
So now that we no longer have telltale games l,what choose your adventure games will we play now?,I was really hoping for a Batman episode 3 and stranger things, the game

Telltale games are pretty hit or miss, but I would be lying if I didnt say I am disappointed I’ll never see wolf among us season 2 or tales from the borderlands season 2, they were both so good!
Everyone that looks at this comment must sub to pewd and me plz
Are you sure you wanna do this little girl? I mean what ifwhat if I’m dangerous.
W H A T I F I A M?
This is TellTale. Don’t catch a walker, now. Don’t get bitten now. Or you’ll be limpin’ now. This is TellTale, Clem in my area.
wait hold on does this means since telltale are no longer working on the game, can i restart the whole season and fix it into the correct story
I liked telltale games but they literally made one of my least favorite video games. Seriously fuck Minecraft story mode.
For those people who didn’t like where Telltale Games went, you should be ashamed of yourselves! Now we won’t see TWAU2! So sad! luckily we still have DontNod Entertainment (Life Is Strange) so maybe they could continue the game-genre that most of us love so dearly!
I feel pity for mina, the boy is not worth for her , I am not happy about ending.
R.i.p telltale i wish they made a undertale telltale version
What about their venture into poker games? (Poker Night at the Inventory 1 and 2)
I can’t even begin to tell you how much The Walking Dead made me cry. Dear god I feel emotionally attached to that game and it’s still my favorite to this day uwu
10:55 I’m deeply disturbed that you would include King’s Quest (2015) as one of your favorite games. I have nothing against the game itself, aside from the fact that the developers, The Odd Gentlemen, funded it using stolen Kickstarter money that was meant to be for another point-and-click game called Hiveswap.
The Odd Gentlemen had been hired to develop the game, after a successful Kickstarter, but they did the bare minimum of work, that was legally required of them, (a single room and a few character models, (none of which could be used in the final game)) and used the rest of the money they were given to fund King’s Quest instead.
This set Hiveswap back by a year, and forced the publisher to finish the game in-house. Hiveswap still hasn’t fully recovered, and at the time of writing this, has only released the first episode, and a small spin-off title
I’m disappointed you didn’t mention Poker Night at the Inventory
I really want Wolf Among Us 2
I hope it will come
TWD Final Season was The best For me
Why didn’t he mention to the lawsuit between telltale and fun pimps for 7 days to die
For some reason i completely forgot about Telltale Games. And then realized they were behind Minecraft Story Mode.
So what you’re saying is people prefer zombies over dinosaur?
All right im going to kill myself.
At least we have skybound games to itch our TellTale scratch
I do not no what to say so me when I get cursed out
2:45 The way you did A Day In The Life was way cool, wish it were longer.
Telltale games went bankrupt and that means no more walking dead final season episodes
