Roses are red
Violets are blue
I Love The Richest
And so do you
7:35 “You’re video is boring. We’ll help. We’re definitely helping.” -The dogs, probably.
Great advice with regards to the yoke!
I’ve tried to explain the level of versatility to people before, and they are always shocked.
I bought a cheap Powertec rack for 400 dollars 12 years ago and it’s still indestructible. You don’t have to spend 1000 dollars just because it’s from ROGUE…
I’ve invested in exactly these, can’t wait too get in the best shape could you do some videos on workouts with all the equipment maybe a 6 day schedule!
7 essentials:
1) Smith machine
2) hammer strength chest press
3) leg press
4) 6 Station cable Cross
5) hip adductor
6) hip adbudtor
7) power plate
And $4,000 later you’ve got a complete home gym. Be sure to hit like, subscribe, and turn on the notification bell.
Seems a bit unrealistic to someone just starting out there chief…
How about this,
Dumbbells 10-50 lbs.
Quality flooring (horse stall mats)
Adjustable bench
Olympic Barbell bar
Olympic plates 5-45 lbs
Jump rope (Amazon $22) bearings, weight and length adjustable.
Power rack (not a cage). The ones rated for 500-600 lbs. with safety arms. More than enough for a beginner.
Not realistic… this is just building a small gym, video to come of a real home gym
I have a request on how to properly pick up and walk with a 150lb sandbag? I just purchased one from Rogue and trying to learn more strongman exercises to add into my training. I’m 57 and I wanna keep on getting stronger! Thank you!
After seeing one of your other videos that mentioned the axle bar and grip strength, i had to get one. I love training with this thing. It is a must for BJJ.
What about a power rack and smith machine? Have a chance to purchase the IM2000 from Ironmaster. I do like the Rogue RM4 however.
Hey Brian! I saw Miles deadlift getting a lot of attention on 9gag. https://m.9gag.com/gag/adLBBnB#comment
Thought you might want to check it out!
I’ve enjoyed this channel a lot for a long time, but I think the eyebrow/nod combo at 1:39 is your best work to date.
First need a house with big enough garage and enough drive space to have all car parked outside.
But how do you scale up the triads to high poundages without losing a lot of their benefits? Just thicken the end plates to no end?
These dumbbells look great, I d get them over normal ones.
But I’m really exited about the crazy racks Chris is developing, maybe there will be some powerlifting type federations centered around specialty bars
You are amazing, and you put so much into all you do! Thank you!
Wow! Three times what I’m paying at LA Fitness. It’s really a country club, not so much a gym. If I thought I’d actually use all of the extra stuff, it could be worth it. I was thinking it was so expensive that you had to sell your shoes! LOL, just joking about you working out in just socks at the start.
Take a look at Walmart. The bench and the rack are about $150 and the rest are priced right. Great for bigginers.
How do u find the powerblock adjustable weights? I have all of the other “top 5”. No dumbells or kettlebells yet. Drawn to the space saving benefits of the power block dbs bit just wondering are u limited with ROM?
For me the essentials are:
Barbell + Plates
Adjustable Dumbells
Adjustable Bench
Rack (with Pullup+Dip bars)
Cable/Pulley system.
Dont really need anything else.
Did we just become best friends I have all 10 of those pieces of equipment at my gym as usual great content love the channel keep it coming brother
I think a better option for a cardio piece is a punching bag cause it relieves stress and is a good workout
Any advice on rehabbing a herniated lumbar disc? (not exploded)
I took your word for it and ordered a SSB I can’t freakin wait!
Why do you need a ball bearing loaded barbell bar alone for $900.in a home gym, while you can get a whole set of bar and plates for $200.-?
I’m soon building my own home gym, cheers Brian. This was perfect in helping me. Liking the resistance bands!
Brian, you’ve been a massive inspiration and source of knowledge for me… thanks a lot, brother! Keep up the great work!
Watching this at x1.5 speed and it makes her sound like she is just super nervous and awkward. XD
Great! It is not garage gym…it is house of strength for strongmans I have very basic Garage gym, where I harvest strength…but in winter, I have there 34°F…
I have to ask, are these available for retail purchase? I’m someone who wants to get back into the lifting game but have suffered many injuries in my lines of work. That chest press bar, and the transformer bar, hell,
allof what you showed there in this video would benefit me like no tomorrow. Send me a message if you’d like to talk! I’m seriously interested!:DThat Kaddilac bar is my dream. All of this stuff is great, now to save up the thousands to afford them all.
Anyone have suggestions on T-Bar row handle and base? I’ve seen the type that sit in plates and that rest under the rack, and needed thoughts
1. seated calf raise maschine
2. standing calf raise maschine
3. donkey calf raise maschine
4. Leg press maschine for calf raises
5. Hack squat maschine for calf raises
6. iso-lateral leg press for calf raises
7. vertical leg press for calf raises
Fuck Rogue, over priced shit.. All I need is a heavy bag, rings, kettlebells, wrist roller, weights, barbell, battle ropes, tractor tire, beer keg and push sled..
Idk why but your voice and mannerisms are very pleasing to me. Lol I hope that’s not hella weird to say but yeah. Lmao.
I think in your home gym equipment video, you mentioned that one of your top items would be a GHD. Any chance you could hit on some of the reasons why that is and what you do with one?
where tf do you get your information lmao i couldnt find anything about detroit athletic club costing 48,000 a month
Why does no bodybuilder breath? Really, no hate but i see it so often..
Awesome videos The richest this expired me motivating me healthy life 2019
Dude, whatcha waitin for? She’s gorgeous. Pop the question quick. LOL. Cool video Meg. Health and wellness to you and yours.:)
Most good quality racks are 500$ or more but my home gym buget is 500$ so can anyone please list a good quality rack for under 200$
I have a home gym and this video is so true. I wish I had known this when I first started, but I learned along the way and have a killer set up based on these essentials.
For a home gym bands are great. I couldn’t afford dumbbells after purchasing everything for my garage gym and bands have helped fill that void. And like Brian said, they are nice for cable machine movements: face pulls, various tricep extensions, cable flys etc…
Dude…was that viral video with the kid with Cerebral palsy in your gym? It looked like it was you that walked in and dropped the bag.
Titan fitness sells axle bars for $60 and the quality is solid
Did I hear you say 1 MILE farmer’s carry? My forearms are killing me just typing that out!
9:58 I could not concentrate just thinking if down stair is also Red
I was expecting kettlebells, tire and sledgehammer somewhere. Ok, joking about the tire and sledgehammer, they are cool and useful but not as much as the others. But for kettlebells I was really expecting them. Thanks for the video, Brian! Cheers!
The trap bar is magnificent, got it a couple weeks back and I’ve been having a great time. The jack especially makes it a joy to use. I’m probably going to buy the kadillac bar from Kabuki next.
Solid vid loved that u put the Rogue name plate at the bottom for more stability
Landmine, stairmaster, cable machine. I would add all this. Extras: dry sauna, massage chair, punching bag, foam rollers.
I use the poor man version with duct tape and it works perfectly!
Did this guy just choke down a handful of roids mid-video? What the hell was that??
Thank you for the energetic intro, I am going to buy Air BIke right now
My gurage gym started with a yoga mat and a 55lb bag of dog food. Now I got my first real piece of equipment to work with, my sand bag.
I always wonder how someone like duffin had done if had chose a combat sport like MMA instead of powerlifting. Not so much because of his strength but because the mentality of putting a thousand pounds on your back is same kind of mentality you need to want to fight people
This video is funny lol
These guys are being paid by Amazon and Rogue!!
Glad to see the resistance bands made the list. Add an assault bike. Got to train that heart too.
anyone else missing the gym so bad ur watching videos with gym equipment in it just to remember what its like
Brian, how much can you deadlift using only double overhabd grip?
Started doing rack pulls with the axel bar. I dig the grip work.
GREAT STUFF ALWAYS..!!! I RECENTLY DISCOVERED YOUR VIDEOS. I’M A 40+ YEAR OLD GUY THAT YOU’VE INSPIRED TO HIT THE GYM AGAIN.. I’VE BEEN DOING BACK ROWS WITH ALL MY WORKOUTS AS MY WARMUP… IT FEELS AMAZING…THANK YOU….
My garage gym is like 100% self built equipment, i went to the hardware store and bought like 300$ worth of metal and used some things that were laying around here at the farm, and got a log, farmers, yoke with all kinds of attachments, axle, loadable dumbells. Its good if you can/or know someone who can do this because the prices for the equipment are kinda silly for how easy they are to make.
Awesome as always!! My home gym has deco taken your opinion into account…. and all my lifts thank you!! Not to mention my overall being dangerous!! Have you ever tried the exer genie, it’s such a rare piece of kit but by god I added it to a home gym (where a sled isn’t practical) for arm over arm truck pulls in the garage it’s amazing!! Would love more of our strongman community to know about it…. plus I travel with it!
to be honest i dont comment on videos but I came I cross your channel I found it really interesting thanks for such a good content
Your graphics for the Detroit Athletic Club said 48000 not 4800 dollars.
Good to see your looking well Brian! Keep hustling and creating some of the best and most informative videos on Youtube!:)
I got lucky and scored a set of powerblock sport 50s yesterday at Dunham’s
I’ve got the rogue monster half rack… Did you put nameplate on bottom as a brace? I’ve got a nameplate but added a lower crossmember that isn’t listed on site.
Have eleiko trap bar and worth every penny but don’t think too many would consider anything eleiko is affordable.
I rather will buy a cable machine then kettlebells. Cable machine is a must have.
Thanks for the time stamp but I watch every second of your vids man. Great content always!
2:59 so you are naturally gonna assume new york is closer to my home..
Go to yard sales. 2 years ago I found a nearly new adjustable bench (with several attachments) for $90 that normally sells for about $400. Last month I stopped by another yard sale and saw a bunch of Olympic weights stacked in the corner of the garage and jokingly offered $10 for all of it and they said sure; 345lbs of different weights/brands and the only odd-ball was a lone Weider 45. That, along with what I already had is more than I’ll ever lift.
Ooooo shiny toys
Also, is there any downsides if one were to train with a specific bar for about 2 months, for example the transformer bar instead of the straight bar?
Useful video, thank you. Just an observation: HIIT exercises are not a substitute of low intensity cardio.
Would using fat grips on DL day be a good idea for increasing grip strength(to simulate this bar)? That seems to be my weak area
That means you guys can afford cause your name is the richest
If you can find 1.5 inch schedule 80 pipe it will be just under 2 inches (1.9..) these will be available from a steel supplier probably not a hardware store.
I used a rubber compression fitting from the plumbing section that was designed to fit 1.5 inch abs pipe for the collar.
Has been working great
the only video explaining the essentials that i liked so had to subscribe
you’re missing one of the most important item (MIRROR) gotta check them gains
I got an heart attack seeing 48000$. Then I heard 4800$
Not that I am planning to go anyway
Please a vid about how do you use the lacrosse ball for different muscle soreness and injures.
Saludos desde Guadalajara, México
Answer me:-
Is it easily possible to make muscular body without bloody shit injections and steroids and tablets and medicine and bla bla bla bla chemicals.
Because from last 6 months i am going so well with a preety good transformation with just consuming milk, soyabean, pulses, egg whites and that’s it… I am not going to consume any chemical. Hahahahaa. And i wl defeat other competitors who are on injections.. i just hate them who promote posion for body… Faak yeah..
Wow, you guys’ gym is insane!!! I furnished a home gym last year as my present to myself for finishing grad school. I went with a Sorinex Base Camp rack with an Elite FTS high/low cable set-up. Best decision ever!!!
Nice and informative video. plz, put a smile on your face you are looking damn serious like an angry boss
As someone who is recovering from shoulder surgery the transformer bar is amazing.
anyone know how much brian charges for programs? Im interested but i dont wanna waste his time with emails if i know i wont be able to afford it
That dumbbell looks very interesting. I hope that the biggest diameter can be loaded to a barbell because that’s great multitasking
The Kadillac is pure fucking genius and I need it! Ive seen people struggling with unstable football bars so often and it just seems like the best solution ever
I use a literal trailer axle with the tires left on it as my bar for DL, rows, presses squats and lunges. Works great and everything he said is correct.
Bro I think your only 1hour from me can I come train one day I’ll pay for a one day pass? Let me know or I’ll pay you to just train me one day. I’m in York PA rite near md
Hi Brian, I just want to thank you for the great information you post online for free. I am working out harder than I ever did before because of the information you are giving and I see so much better results. Thank you:)
A ghd would be great. Unfortunately a 1 car garage won’t allow that big of a piece of equipment.
I like that triad. Got me thinking of all its potential, especially in a home gym were you could effective ‘change the weight’ of the movement without having small increment of Db’s.
The Elon Musk of powerlifting and weightlifting. I own the Transformer squat bar and Cadillac bar and they are worth EVERY CENT. Duffin builds equipment based on human physiology and his weightlifting experience. I have no association with Kabuki just a very happy customer!
In the process of putting a gym together at home. SUPER helpful video.
GREAT!!! But most people will never use the heavier duty squat bars at home for that price and compete like you and may not need it. I got my power rack on Amazon, and bought another bench/squat rack with 2 Olympic bars with 400 # weights for $400 from a guy moving and needed gone so I saved a ton. Wife asked why 2 benches and bars….I said I have 2 arms and legs!!!! love my land mine but I made my own lat machine by drilling 2 holes over the cage and using pulleys. I can use it for all rows, extensions, ext.
Thanks a lot good info, the silver line for this corona virus I realize I don’t need the gym
They over charge to keep the rough crowd out whether it’s ghetto folks, hot head bullies, blue collar folks, trailer trash, the penny pinchers. They try to weed out all those folks
its better for the center panel
of an olift platform to be 42″ wide
instead of the typical 48″ also better
if the wood grain is right-to-left rather than
front-to-back… plus you dont want any seams
anywhere near where the plates usually land
or for any of the seams to superimpose
from other layers (the lowes/hd will cut
the panels for you so you arent limited
to 4×8 configurations) and a retaining
frame is better than screwed-tgthr –
it doesnt migrate or damage eqpt
Has anyone said “shut up meg”?
If someone did, are they still alive?
The transformer bar looks awesome. My gym just got the kadillac
That trap bar is a thing of fucking beauty!!!! I’d be at the gym a few years back and hate the bars they had, always something that’s just frustrating af.
Ok right… Now lemme see whats my balance account saying….
If you get good use out of it, It’s well worth it. Good job.
Man this guy trying to sell everything must be making a good commission
I keep trying to talk my gym into buying/making one of these and getting an SSB bar. I would love to have them both available to me.
12:21
Brian: “Those people are not interested in a little person like me”
Also brian: has 167,000 subs
Elitefts: Has 67,000 subs
Elitefts: watches this video
Elitefts: Hey brian, you want a sponsorship? We’ll throw in a free SSB!
After reading all the comments, Brian is bombarded with questions. I will humbly and poorly answer all of them but i require a dental plan and Prozac.
Egh… kind of jerking around the tree.
They already had these solutions. Theyre called dumbbells
Yes….even for squatting
just curious, why do you have a canadian and a philippines flag?
when she said “we know your overhead press is under 100lbs”, i felt attacked
awesome equipment!! Good luck finding a gym with all that good stuff!!
Since it’s a business investment could/did you write it off on your taxes?
Kadillac bar is something I want to try one day. Usually have to resort to trap bar in a rack in most commercial gyms. The open trap bar itself removes the potential damage others experience with pre installed loading pins. Rare to find a trap bar with the pins still installed due to tossers.
Best thing I have bought was my yoke bar from your previous recommendation. Too many people run there mouths about doing “real” squats with a regular barbell. If Brian Shaw uses it I think it is gtg for me.
Brian, could you make a video on what exercises you feel have the best direct carryover to Wrestling/BJJ/Martial Arts? I do pretty traditional barbell training in the offseason but was wondering what lifting/strongman exercises could have a direct carryover to moves and throws in wrestling. Thanks!
was waiting for you to demonstrate a t-bar row on the land mine cam
Could not watch this video bc every 1min and 45sec there was a advert, you just need 2 of them 1 at the beginning and one at the end not 3 or 4 in between.
5:50 boneyard bar gets the least ammount of action. i feel that was on purpous
Big money, dream gym. Good luck finding that high dollar equipment anytime soon. I had to go to a scrap yard and luckily found enough rusty plates, a bar and a couple dumbbells to try to stay in shape during lockdown.
Was considering buying that sled. Just out of curiosity, why is it your least favorite?
Deadlifts on these bars are extremely humbling…which reminds me, I should start using axles more!
I didnt realize that an an axle bar has absolutely no whip. Thank you! I learned something today
Brian’s channel is criminally underrated. Such good content!
You probably don’t have to pass an interview to gain access to your local gym unlike some of these places, so hopefully this video might help motivate you towards a healthier 2019:)
Product presentation, no link to the man’s store in description. https://store.kabukistrength.net/
I like the time stamping, not to skip to more interesting points in a video, but because I often come back to your videos to show people stuff and can never recall where it is in the video I need to go
You really don’t need alot of this stuff… Majority of this are just extras lol
It kinda looked like the dude got startled at the begining. Lol
I never seen benches like that before! Anyone know what they are called?
Fantastic tutorial. Definitely helped with my home gym. Thank you guys.
In the process of putting a gym together at home. SUPER helpful video.
I could never train in a commercial gym again. Having a home gyms is the best way to go.
Funny, I was thinking on getting an elliptical for cardio, dunno if I can find an air assault bike here in town, otherwise I’ll have to keep learning how to jump rope.
Hey Brian I am a guy that lives in Romania and here we don’t have any gyms for strongman. I was thinking of opening one myself. Could you make a video about what would it be necessary for doing that?
Don’t need an expensive gym to achieve your goals. But if you have the money then why not
Your voice is sounding 100% better and you are back to your 2yrs+ ago size. So glad the recovery is showing. Keep on it.
Greatest benefot of Axl… Is that it’s far easier on the joints which might be counterintuitive… And particularly easier on the elbows
My lower back hurts just from watching some of these workouts.
Good video. For now I’ll skip the kettle bells and med balls. If fact I’ll go as far as to say “no dumbbells for my home gym. I’ll go with a functional trainer to go with my power rack. All the other knickknacks I’ll use at the gym every now and then
Thanks for the informative video, I had to give you a follow
Never before have I heard of anyone describing Eleiko as “affordable.”
Your videos have always been good; but they’re even better lately. I really appreciate the table of contents and your organized method of presenting. Thank you!
We get it, you’re Rogue’s bitch and will endorse their stuff. Don’t get me wrong it’s nice stuff but so overpriced
Rogue is almost the top but I have a Powertec Power rack and it is really good
I know you’re a Rogue fan, but for sandbags specifically which do you honestly prefer, Rogue or IronMind?
Crazy thought. When you were talking about how versatile the yoke is, I started thinking that it might be used as a sled if you didn’t have the money to get both. Have you tried it or heard of anyone trying it?
fantastic video! how about a super loud bluetooth speaker, chains, and the swiss bar is ranked way too low. if you have bench pressed heavy for years and years, your shoulders are troubled at a minimum probably jacked up totally, swiss bar grip eases the pain!!
Where can I find some farmer’s like the ones you have now? I’m looking for an “upright/vertically loaded” style that’s a bit raised (for toe safety) on feet more likely to slide on grass than catch, much like what you showed. AKA not the barbell type. What brand are your new ones?
Where can I buy these equipments? I’m trying to buy good quality equipments and these seem the best, so can you send me a link that would have the equipments showed in the video for sale please
Switched all squatting to a ssb and all deadlifting to a trapbar and have loved the results. I’m a beat up 37 and those have allowed me to still load up those patterns without the wear and tear of the straight bar. Would highly recommend ’em.
Hold up rewind…one mile farmer’s walks?? How much weight are we talking? What percentage of your normal working weight are you strolling along with?
I was expecting to be critical at first (thought it was just going to be a sales gimmick), but this list is perfect. Thanks!
All these are truths lol. Been using mine for about 8 weeks. My grip is so strong and life is easier.
Thanks for the advice as i dont like being in gyms with dudes who think know it all but look like shat…welp bak to pornhub
Excellent video, one ☝️ must also have a Toilet in the gym for the essential BM’s that massive bodies produce
April 2020 and everyone is building their own home gym. Great video Meg.
Home Depot special. 1.5 inch black pipe and 1 15/16 shaft collars. Easy cheap axle under $100.
Hey Brian I bought the neutral grip bar instead of a slightly angled neutral grip, should I still use this as a go to for shoulder health or is it not as good as the angled (Have to use the bar regardless), thanks!
Anyone who has watched your channel for any amount of time could have predicted the pieces of equipment you highlighted!
And because I’m a numbers guy I looked up the cost of these items for those interested:
All new from Titan $1900 (including bands from elsewhere cheap on Amazon and 150+80lb slam balls instead of sand bags)
All new from Rogue $3500
My top 7:
Rack
Barbell
Bench
Plates
Cable Machine/Functional trainer
Power locks
Rubber Stall Mats
3-4K total! But worth of investment!
Just shared this with one of the 9 Facebook Groups I manage GarageGym411.com (4,995 members strong!)
TheRichest, You are great at making such interesting videos about things that most people know or dont know! Keep it up!
The padding and spacing are way better on the EliteFTS (and the Titan SSB V2) are way better than the Rogue. Used both, and the FTS is the best.
I have a home gym ( plug, check my channel) however I will actually get number 10 Swiss bar or Football bar, that thing looks like a great piece of equipment for a variety of exercises
Bud how is your medical stuff going are u getting anymore surgeries or procedures dun?
awesome video! ive always wanted a log bar but theyre soooo expensive, keeping the eye out though!
Solid video as always brother, content has been excellent lately. I love that sled core variation and hate you for it at the same time lol
OK Chris I was showing this to my wife and she wondered if the Kadillac bar is just designed for men since she is more petite and thinks the angles you use would be off for her. Have you thought of a design that focuses on a smaller frame, female or male?
when are we getting engaged, uh never, the mike didn’t pick that one up
Can you do a video on training strongman in a commercial gym?
As much as I don’t like to plug the “T-” brand knock-off equipment company, I picked up an axle from them for under $50 shipped. The Axle bar has been a great addition, really enjoying it.
I dont have a dumbbell stack at home, is that bad? I have Just a power rack (w/ pull up bar) + barbell + plates + bench.
Duffin is TBE. Suprised he is such good friends with the carnivore grifter Mark Bell
I was wondering if my equipment is fit for what I am doing.. I used to be a bodybuilder, but I started powerlifting about a year ago. I have the Rogue 2.0 bar and use Rogue color training plates 2.0. Also I am looking to expand my home gym, so I want to get it right!
Farmer’s Handles on the cheap? Or natural stone? Or stone? If I’m not training strongman and I’m not particularly strong and I train at home, is there any real benefit for incorporating these items. Especially given the cost?
McMaster Carr has steel clamps that slide perfectly over the end of my axle. https://www.mcmaster.com/shaft-collars
Plus a schedule 80 pipe and you have a perfectly good training axle. I am also looking at going to a local fabricator to get a solid piece of 1.9″ OD shaft, and do the same thing for more of a competition feel
I am evaluating getting a multi-grip bar (likely neutral grip) for my shoulder (rotator cuff) to sub for normal barbell benching. Any experience with one with your or members’ shoulders? Have a recommendation for one?
I was expecting a collection of crap, but instead I found a bunc of treasures in this vid. I want them all!
Great info as always! At least the dog let you finish this time:) #nottodaykona Thanks for posting the info on Lennylifts, I went to http://www.lennylifts.org and donated there. Good Stuff!
SSB bar….I am SOOO glad my gym finally broke down and bought one. I love it. Lifesaver on my shoulders for sure.
This video makes me wish I had a garage…. And a shit ton of money
If you are doing crossfit the next equipment you should buy is a wheelchair.
Neckbraces sold separately
What about resistance bands and foam rollers. They are a must for warm up and mobility
mark bell, more like mark smell. i bet that guy fucking stinks dude. he probably smells like a mix of way too much cologne and protein shits
I have a rebounder
5 pound dumbbells
3 pound dumbbells
an arobic stepper
a pilates ring
and a yoga mat
Grand salute your female bodybuilder are you crazy bodybuilder female you can good luck all the best you number one
The graphics on the costs are different from what is narrated
what weight do you recommend for the two sandbags? I have a 150 lb one now
Question outside of equipment, any tips for getting that forearm/wrist flexibility in the front rack position you showed at the very end when pressing? I want to start doing things like cleans and front squat but i can’t get my arms to bend right
I’d wonder if those horse stall mats would still smell like horse?..
I love the time stamps in your videos. I always watch the whole thing anyways, but it’s useful to review information later.
I spent about $3000 and feel I got a better gym. So not worth the money to me.
If it fits your needs than yes worth it. If it gets/keeps you healthy than it’s worth it.
My favorite item in your video was the Viking press. Those things are great.
If you got a full rack you can use for front squats with the safety bars and an attachment.
Megan, how much did the heaviest person you ever lifted weigh. Could you lift a 300 to 400 lb person with a front lift? I’m just curious.
the best bang for your buck would have to be a squat rack / power rack that is adjustable mine came with a bench and i could adjust the weight holders to be inside or outside of the bench so i could squat or bench press whenever and with a barbell i can deadlift and do overhead press came out to i think roughly 400$ its been a while i forget but you can add weight with no strain to the rack at all
Good video. Thinking of making my own gym. Thought it would be more
For the first gym you said it was 4800 a month but I see 48000 WTF????
Can this deadlift platform with only one piece of plywood protect the concrete?
Garage gym in UK? Lock up garage full of asbestos… Everything is small here… 😉
I just subbed to your channel. Check my channel out as well!
15 years ago I’d be trying to turn it into a bong. Now I’m just trying to lift the damn thing and throw it around.
If you see this have a blessed and beautiful day
Btw we make videos too, if yall can get me to 10k subs it would be a dream come true!
New sub, only because of you guy’s chemistry. Thumbs up
I like that they cater to everyone. I’m a free weight guy (chains, grunts, etc.) and it’s nice that they don’t try to keep out those of us who want to do some serious lifting. Price is pretty steep, I think, but looking at this place, it’s easy to see why. Beautiful gym. Wish I could afford it. It’s really nice to work out on that Gucci equipment.
Just tried a rogue ssb for the first time this week and it’s on the list for my next purchase. Never felt my posterior chain that much while squatting!
that “If you like me” bit at the end….oh my god I’m dying! LOL. You are adorable and awesome at the same time.
So glad you made this some things I never thought of you mentioned and a lightbulb went off. Thanks so much for the great content!
09:55 Maybe consider a “Powerblock” instead of loadable dumbells for a homegym. They are quite expensieve but you can do everything with them (unlike with loadables) and changeplates are quite expensieve too so you might not even be that much higher in price considering the weights that you need just for the dumbell (for the barbell there is no reason to have more than a pair of every needed changeplates). Also make sure to buy a block for the right range (they come in different ranges and some are really really light) and consider upgrading-packages.
I don’t know about y’all, but Rogue and affordable don’t go in the same sentence lol
i hate to be a “wisenheimer” but i really need to point out that you absolutely need a Power Rack when you train alone (which many homegymowners will likely do regularly). Powerlifting is not a dangerous sport per se but if you’ re benching alone without safeties you make it a dangerous sport.
I literally have a two barbells, a bench, squat rack, plate rack and an ez bar with a couple dumbells. It works for sure
I just got a sled and it is so much fun and such a different challenge than just a barbell. I have farmers handles on the way to. Love the channel!
the gym likes a giant sets of lego for aldults who into lifting
This is so impressive. Nice work guys! I can’t believe you built this so cheap.
I miss my home gym. We had one that was around 1000 sq. ft., it started out as my friend’s two car garage but we completely enclosed it and turned it into a gym. We bought out a gym that was closing and got everything in the building for 2500 dollars (deal of a lifetime). Ended up with a hip sled, power rack, Olympic style bench press, squat rack, pec deck, lat machine, 3 flat benches, 4 Ivanko 1200 lb bars, a complete set of hex dumbbell pairs 5-60 lb, 2 dip racks, seated calf machine, side lateral machine, and 2500 lbs of Olympic plates. But my friend and his wife got divorced and that was the end of the home gym.
I will replace all of them with just some resistance bands..
Cool! Time to hit home depot for an AXLAY!! lol Thanks Brian!
Can someone take that clip of Brian falling on his face for the backflip and set it to the beat of “Still D.R.E.” please? Let’s get it posted on the Neversate insta page haha
If I were to build a gym in my garage, I would have to get rid of my eight bicycles, three canoes, two lawn mowers, set of four snow tires and toolshop work table. That’s why I have only a small combination (from 20 to 40 lb) of dumbbells and a bench in my basement.
I was training at the kabuki strength lab once, I fucked up unloading the bar and unloaded one side too quick. I didn’t know who Chris duffin was at the time, but after he helped me undo my fuck up, he introduced himself and asked about me and that was pretty cool
Perfect timing, I’m in the planning stages of a home gym now
Brian…. great to see you getting your health back. You are absolutely an inspiration. Such a transformation over the last few months! God bless!

PTSD from watching this. AMRAP with 100kg double over hand until your forearms explode is absolute pain
Because of the high demand for adjustable dumbbells now, a $200.00 dollar set can now cost over $1000,00.
I feel personally attacked, watching this in my bedroom on my manual treadmill #hamsterwheel
What are your thoughts on the Rogue Yoke? I’m looking into getting one to use as squat rack, and yoke. What do you think? Trying to build the garage gym.
I think your flag is upside. Unless revolution.
Edit: The USA one.
And your forearms will get JACKED…I got a nice axle bar for 65$ from Titan
We have one at my gym.
I’ve been using it for most lifts.
Ohp, Deadlift, bench press and rows.
I was under the impression it was 15 pds. Weighed it last week. 22.4 pds. So secret PR!
Its helped alot with my lifts and its humbled me very much.
When he said rogue and eleiko have affordable options I laughed a little
What thickness of MDF did you use for your PL platform? And any particular kind of carpet?
I’ve already made several axle bars. I used galvanized and its been great! No rust and plenty tough
If you wanna live a comfortable lifestyle…….work hard to become rich!!!
my gym doesnt have any axles and i dont think its gonna fit in a gym bag. would fat grips be a good substitute? ive been using those for about a month.
Cheapest way out is got to a recycling center…they usually sell weight plates and stuff for pennies
Hi!
Did you add something to the squat stands to protect the barbells? If so, what is it exactly?
Thanks!
Axle works your grip even on bench press because, per your advise, you are squeezing that bar as hard as you can. Having twice the circumference to cover with your hand, you are putting more pressure throughout your hand and activating more of your forearm to squeeze the bar and thus using your grip more, even if the weight is mostly in your palm.
Which is harder to squeeze and hold for time: a dumbbell or a dumbbell with fat grips?
Having said that, if the user isn’t squeezing as hard as they can, then you are correct, there is no difference between benching standard bar or axle for grip strength.
Hahahah I remember that backflip video. Still the manliest hug ever
Good list Brian… one of the biggest problems with the strongman style of training is that is a VERY expensive list of gear. I would add cambered bar for me my shoulders are worthless and the cambered bar is even better than the SSB for me.
to me it just looks cool deadlifting or over head pressing an axle, but for a home gym I would just say buy some fat grips unless you are a massively competitive strongman…
Brian Says Elite FTS is not interested in him, then I see him on Elite FTS YouTube channel
The most essential things to have is a power rack with a pull up bar, barbell, plates, and a bench.
Went the pipe route a few years ago, also have lifted an axel made from “brogue”……the pipe from Home Depot is a better bang for your buck, plus use that extra $100 you saved for some new bumper plates
Cant agree on bumper plates. Guys have been working with cast iron for a hundred years..
I would change the Kettle bells for a heavy truck tire, If you have dumbells, you don’t need Kettle bells.
I shall definitely be checking Lenny out! My 8yr old son is Autistic. Anyone that does anything to raise awareness is a good egg in my book!:)
Good choice. Why bother with anti-social gym crowd. Total fucking goofs anyways
Tried to bench with a Swiss bar it was definitely pretty hard haha. I was wobbly and it wasn’t for me. 135 felt like 205
You said it was cool to put our questions here on what to cover. There’s a circus dumbbell in the program you made for me and I’ve been interested in buying one for a while. Here’s my question: I noticed there are anywhere from 2″ to 3″ diameter handles and 10″ and 12″ for the plates. I don’t know what any of that means, since it’s my first Circus Dumbbell. What do I need to know before I decide?
Nice video Brian, how do fat gripz compare to an actual axle bar though
At the end of the video you said you live in LA. I thought you moved to Canada, became a canadian citizen, and turned your back on the USA. Am I confusing you with another youtuber?
My tax return this year was near 10k and my wife said I can only use 2k of it…
Drill a hole though the pipe and slap a big bolt through it, that’s how I made mine.
Lenny Lifts. I have the exact same tattoo on my arm. Only the globe has terrain than puzzle pieces.
…there are 2 men in the World that can lift all your plates at once:)
That backflip was awesome, have you ever thought of making martial arts videos? Im almost a black belt and its cool to see another lifter who has martial arts training.
The first one struck me as odd. I’d think that the loading of weight below the contact point with the body would mean that it’s less likely to roll off your shoulders. But if you need to have a special bar to be able to squat because of shoulder pain… fix your shoulders first. I understand that Eddie Hall can not grab a normal bar because he’s huge, but if you are a gym-goer and not competing, then make sure you have mobility in your shoulders instead of reaching for a specialty bar. And if you are competing…make sure you have mobility in your shoulders.
Please say Brian Shaw can’t bend it. He’ll see it as a challenge and we will get an entertaining video:)
Oh, one more thing, he can only use his hands. Gloves are allowed.
love my trasformer bar only thing that sucks is its prone to rusting. rusts faster than my bare steel bar.
We should all shout him out on like joe rogans channel I thought his story was inspiring
I would just like everyone to know that the ad I got before this video was for something called the x3bar. Its a monster band with a handle that attaches to it and a plate to stand on to keep it under your feet. $499. Stay safe out there kids.
Good info but this list was a little long. Now I can’t decide
I have a garage gym and I lovveee having it at home I feel like it’s so worth the investment!
For the price of a 1-year membership, you can build an awesome home/garage/basement gym with all the equipment you need to get a great workout!
Whats the name of that stone that looks like a large tombstone you carry and what are the benefits of it? How can I implement it into my workout?
Never seen the triad before. What an awesome implement. Again 2020 ST has been pushing out awesome content!
Lol the trapbar that is ez to load is fucking genius man!
An 84″ axle barbell from titan fitness costs $61.99. Just saying.
10:13 you loaded the plates facing different ways on the dumbbell:-(
You should do one on trap bar. I get so much use out of mine!
Only if expensive gyms can make you get in shape as fast as they “size zero” your bank account
Titan fitness sells the cheapest axle in two different sizes and weight
Is a Swiss bar worth the money? Does it accomplish the same thing in exercises like the bench with less pain?
Bought some fat grips to take them with me in the gym and I love them. Next investment will be a pipe from the hardware store, as soon as I can effort the weights for it. Grip strength for the win!
I just made an axle about 20 minutes ago my first bit of homemade strongman gear
But, do they make pharma GH or IGF1 available for sale at the locker rooms?
My husband and I are discussing the benefits of a yoke. I compete strongman and he is Crossfit. It would really justify the cost if it benefited both of us.
Just spent thousands of dollars on a home gym then seconds later found this clip, happy to say I bought exactly what is suggested here but still wish I found this earlier.
Great video as always brian, very grateful for all your videos they’ve really helped me a lot!!, anyway i have trouble keeping my brace during carries such as farmers or bear hug walks could you give some tips for it please
Saludos desde Chile
I love my axle bar. I use it more than any other barbell. It’s just fun and looks rad.
Lol you do not need all of this this would be a cool setup to have all 7 but you only really need the rack bar bench iron weights and a couple of stall mats. I made due with that for a long time before upgrading. Or just a set of dumbells and a bench.
Great video Brian!, however for those building their own axle bar, you might wanna take note of this for the hardware store, this MUST be a 7 ft, 1.5″ nomial diam. pipe, schedule 80, I repeat SCHEDULE 80, it will be weight about 25 pounds. For coating, you need to sand the entire pipe first, then apply a film of primer (zinc) and then a polyurethane finish.
Keep in mind that the regullar barbells collars will not fit in these axle bars sleeves of 1.9 ” outside diam.
I decided to start putting together a home gym because getting to the gym is a pain. I wasn’t making use of my Planet Fitness membership. It doesn’t take much effort to walk into my backyard. I also already had some equipment. My existing equipment consisted of Buff Dudes DIY parallettes, Battle Rope, and 10 pound Medicine Ball. I also have a kettle bell that is still at my parents house. I recently picked up a CAP combo squat rack on amazon. It has a pull up bar, adjustable bar holders, and adjustable spotter arms. So it can be used for Squatting, benching, and pull ups. I don’t have weights, a bar, or bench yet. So the rack is serving as an anchor for my resistance bands. My plan is to get some standard adjustable dumbells, barbell, weights, and adjustable bench next month. I decided on standard due to cost and adjustable dumbbells being available on Amazon. I don’t drive, so it limits my options. Otherwise I would just scrounge up weights and bars on Craigslist.
Overall my plan is working out well.
Can somebody send me the link to that squat rack, I’m needing a strong one or can you reccomend a different one?
The speaker said “forty eight hundred” but “48000” was on the screen
I am curious about a yoke. Is it worth it? I have used a chain yoke setup with my home made axel and loading pins. The chains make it much harder! Is a solid yoke worth using?
Did you hear that….
It was my wallet and bank account laughing of how im thinking how i can afford a standard gym membership and looking a expensive ones
I subscribed because you have a flag of Canada hung up on your wall.
Thank you so much for the support brother. It means so much to our cause.

For anyone thinking about just ordering some cheap adjustable bench online, don’t be too cavalier about that purchase. Based on my experience:
1) Don’t get one that has any wood in it. Quite a few budget benches will have wood. But the screws going into that wood bench are going to quickly strip the wood surrounding them and the bench will quickly become worthless.
2) Know the specs! Go to a “real” gym, find an adjustable bench you like and measure how long the part on which your back and head rest is. Many budget benches are too short in this area and you will have nothing supporting your head when you lay on them.
Also know the specs if you’re considering getting an adjustable bench that has the rack attached. In many budget options, that rack isn’t spread out wide enough for you to be able to unrack/rack the weights with anything much wider than a chest-wide grip. The stands for rack end up being right next to either side of your head.
Cambered bar, spider bar? Is the spider bar just for more stability in squats? Cambered is only for low bar?
awesome video thanks a ton!
could you do a video on some basic exercises with few of them?
This may be obvious to some, but how about a shoe discussion? I use lifters for things like squats, but doing giant sets in them suck because then you’re jumping, moving, being athletic….
If you buy a Bubba Axle bar you wont have to worry about it bending:) just sayin….
Squats, weighed dips, weighed pull-ups, deadlifts. Power rack with pull-up and dip attachments, quality power barbell, quality plates, dip/pull-up belt, 3/4″ horse stall mats, cardio machine of some type.
He just fired off all the shit I wanted to get if I won the lottery.
I’m trying to build my own home gym at the moment and i’m also currently looking for a squatrack/powerrack but they are so exspensive at the moment…
Do you guys think i should wait with buying one when the prices drop a bit?
My basement is too short for standing overhead press since i am the enormous height of 5’9″. I have been sitting on my bench to do them. Should I use your floor variation or just continue sitting on my bench?
Also, i will be making my own axle.. Er axAley bar this summer.
Oh, i suppose i could make 20 trips up the stairs and OHP outside but what a pain.
