I was just wandering why the scosche rhythym + didnt make the top 5? That is the one I was looking at purchasing.
My wish list for an ideal heart rate monitor would have the following functionality;
1) Wrist mounted (without chest strap)
2) Shows heart rate and percentage of maximum (like the Polar ones do, so that we don’t have to do the math)
3) Constant display (unlike Fitbit Charge HR)
4) 24 hour tracking (like the Fitbit Charge HR)
5) At least 3 days battery life
None of the current products meet the above criteria. I am sure if one of the manufacturers were to come up with a product like that, it would sell well.
I don’t understand how much chest monitor let you know if you are beating too high. How is a warning given off? That’s what I need. And I don’t want EMFs while tracking. Is there something more old school while also accurate?
Has this technology come further forward and new updates on this?
Anyone used this for running… does it track/measure your mileage and can I save the data? Thanks for helping
Hi Jeff. I really enjoy your content. I wanted to make a request that you link the items in your description. It would be extremely helpful! Thanks and keep up the good work!
Jeff, Thanks for all of your great reviews! I trust and look for your reviews before buying anything to do with activity trackers, heart rate monitors, etc. Appreciate it!
Can you please take one trial without wearing the smartband. It should shouldn’t show average readings.
Dear Riz, What would be the best heart rate monitor to register irregular heart beat can it be set to notify when the heart is beating irregular please email your response to this address
Thanks, Marni

aren’t there any decent ones that just tell your heart rate? don’t care about bluetooth or any other features. would just like to be able to look at my wrist and tell what my heart rate is. thanks
What happened to your short intro video? I thought it was cool. I’m with @EricCano. Video for best monitor for workouts, with the best detail. Still waiting for the Ampstrip. Got a feeling that might blow all of the devices out of the water. We shall see. Thanks for the great video.
Hi there i love your channel and your videos but i really need your help! I am a 18 year old very well known natural bodybuilder from the U.K and i have always been a massively interested person in gadgets Wether it’s the best back belt for gym or the best lifting shoues. What i really NEED your experienced advice in is all I want is a werable / watch thing that is extremely accurate in calculating the amount of calories I have burned! Because I need this to improve my bodybuilding career. I would love a hart rate monitor but the maja preiortty is the cal counter please and thank you all!
how is the Garmin HRM-Run strap vs Garmin soft strap? I have had the Garmin regular strap that came with Forerunner 305 for 6 years. I recently upgraded to Fenix 3 Sapphire after watching your video. The old Garmin regular strap still works with Fenix 3. But if I want to upgrade, is the Garmin HRM-Run worth the extra $50 over Garmin soft strap?
@RizKnows hi there are a heart rate monitor watch that measure the HR in real time? because i need it for HIIT and from what I know most make the average of the beats over a period of 3-10 seconds
Do you think the moto 360 will work as a fitness tracker? it has a hrm and work with google fit…im a bit stuck becasue thats what i have I was thinking about the FB surge or the FB Hr because i love the apps but you said the hr wasnt good the mio is really ugly imo and the app is unattractive any advice?
Hey great video! But i have a question! I play soccer, run and weight lift almost every day. Which device is better for a heart rate monitor: mio fuse or Polar A300 w/ chest strap??
Mi band 4 that “outdoor running” test in road.. will u please show us how accuracy is the oudoor running? how the pace go on
I have a standard TICKR and the HRM-Run. Love my TICKR but I’ve been using the HRM-Run with my Forerunner 620 (obviously.) It’s probably pretty comparable if not the same as the TICKR X. The HRM-Run doesn’t have built-in memory though.
The problem with those optical sensors is that when you’re running and above 140bpm there is a lot of wrong readings like 60bpm, 80bpm, and you know thats not true while reading with your pulse or subclavian artery, making them useless when running. At least thats what happened to me
I’m a big fan of the Wahoo for the fact that it will connect with both ANT+ and Blutooth at the same time. So I can have it record data on my phone and a Garmen simeltaneously. This is a huge plus because I’m not limited to my recording and tracking options by the connection platform.
oh mannnn…..I was trying to get myself out of H7 to find a real time hrm that don’t rely on chest strap. Not sure if I should ditch my H7 for mio at this point.
Hey there bud I seen your videos what do you think about using a polar h7 for my workouts and a fitbit surge for 24/7 since its not that accurate for workouts to see how many calories I am burning I would just see overall resting how many calories would it be okay? Thanks I am looking to buy both
Thanks a lot for the video I will definitely buy mi band 4 for my health and fitness tracking.
Oh yeah i noticed you kept saying iphone im and android user and love….but great videos! big fan
Hi just wondering if you heard about under amour 39 and zephyr bioharness 3 and are they’re said what they said
So do the Wahoo ticker pair with any activity/fitness tracker?
Best Reviews is one of my favourite channels to view the coolest gadgets! I actually created my own channel called Inspector Gadget NL to show even more gadget highlights – come and check it out and i will always follow back!
hey bro i was wondering if the h7 polar is compatible with the garming fenix 3? and if you can make a video discribing specially each chest strap monitor.. for instance I’m looking for any strap that are used for workouts swimming.. like the garmin HRM I don’t know if it works doing workout.. or if the scorched rhythm I can use it for workout as well.. help me out with this…
Just bought a Garmin HRM-Tri.
Got it today and am in mixed satisfied mode atm. Bought the chest strap and the Ant+ USB stick. Guess what…. they are not compatible. Ugh…. jumping through hoops to not have to purchase wrist product but if I don’t… Won’t be able to put the strap into recording mode…. Sooooooo not cool
Didn’t buy the strap so much for monitoring heart rate during activities, but for my tachycardia condition and treatment…. Anybody know if / how the HRM-Tri can connect to a PC give a shout…. So far was able to download an app to my defunct smart phone so at least I can get streaming information from it until I solve my dilema.
Nice vid. Almost got the garmin strap in this vid… but garmin said that the Tri was a newer model.
Does the Polar H7 pear with the Strava app?
Also how long does the battery life take on this one?
Very thorough review! Consumer Reports also rates this Polar H7 as the highest for chest based heart rate monitoring. One question, some sleep apnea patients would like to wear one while they sleep, then upon waking, see the heart rate activity while they are sleeping, to identify any apnea episodes. So the question being,,while the software/watch record the heart rate continuously? So on a graph chart i will be able to see my heart rate on a minute by minute basis for the entire night???
is wahoo waterproof like polar h7 that u can wear it for swimming
Hi thanks for the videos you’re the man, I’m buying a Garmin Fenix 3 and I’m indecisive in which heart rate monitor to buy, does the h7 pair and track hr under water with the Fenix 3? And if not wahoo thicker x or Garmin run thanks a lot and will be buying throughout your channel keep it up
I’m looking for a Myzone review. My gym uses them and the trainers send workouts and competitions to the users. I can only find marketing reviews on it.
Jeff, I like your videos, but there are a couple issues with this one. First, you forgot to include the running dynamics feature of the Garmin strap. Other straps will not offer that feature for 620s, Fenix 2 & 3, Epix, or 920XT. Another issue is your claim about Polar H7s transmitting under water. That is not supported. See the manual even http://www.polar.com/e_manuals/H7_Heart_Rate_Sensor/Polar_H7_Heart_Rate_Sensor_accessory_manual_English.pdf. Recording Heartrate under water can be done with the new Suunto straps which record and pair the info later when connected. It can also be done with the MIO Fuse and Alphas, but the data can’t be extracted at this point.
That’s not the point, the point is it should be measure the hr during you moving, if you move your arm the mi band won’t get accurate results
Does the Wahoo X double tap get activated by a shirt over the monitor?
can the Garmin HRM swim or polar h7 work with the tom tom spark multi sport watch?

For buyers, bear in mind: BIG feature difference between Wahoo TICKR and Wahoo TICKR X.
I have MI band 3 but I will buy the MI band 5 when it comes in India
I like your reviews because you actually work out and use these items. I keep seeing so many reviews by tech nerds who have clearly never worked out once…..when I look for a review I don’t want someone to just list the features. I can read. I want to know how it actually is in use. So thank you!:-)
Is it more efficient if i use a HR smartwatch on the inside part of the wrist?
Awesome review!!! Can you do a top 5 fitness tracking apps. Can’t decided which is best for tracking my workouts and calories burned paired with my heart rate monitor. Mapmyfitness, polar, runkeeper, etc… Best for tracking gym workouts.
Thanks for the great video, I been looking to buy one. Wahoo looks very interesting.
Great ReView!! can the Garmin HR transmit under water?, would Polar H7 HR pair, let say with Garmin fenix 3?
Yes, by the time you used that bp machine your heart would be faster because you immediately checked for it, and for the fact you check on mi band later after the mahine, your heartbeat started getting back to normal, so it was comparatively slower. So it tracks accurately I believe.
Has anyone heard of the brand Impulse? It’s a heart rate monitor as well and recently bought one it at Big 5 and it was marked down from 80 to 24.99 but when I looked online, there was hardly any info. about it?
You’re missing the point or at least the obvious nonsense in these things. They use a light beam to measure pressure. Utter crap. They are close because you’re not seen to be moving. Explain. Ok go on your bike and raise your pulse to about 130. Your watch will show more or less resting heart rate because it hasn’t detected any steps. Now run for a 100 meters and bingo over 100bpm. It’s a simple calculation. You enter in your age, height, weight and produces a number. They are uselessly inaccurate. Buy a watch with sweep second hand feel your pulse. Oh yes. And stop being sad wankers.
