I try Empelle serum, expensive and didn’t make a change in my skin, I started to peel. I have dry and sensitive skin any advice?
I will be wearing a face mask when I go back to work. From what I’ve noticed when I do wear it, I sweat like crazy. My face actually drips sweat. I will be changing my mask between clients, it 5-10 times a day, What do you suggest I use on my face each time I remove it to help prevent acne. Cleanser? Toner? Just water? Or anything specific?
Thank you for this interesting video! I’ll be 60 later this year and have been menopausal since before I was 50. I didn’t need HRT. I have always had oily skin and that continues even now. For me, a rich moisturiser would make me an oil slick! For years and years I bought the marketing hype around ‘now you’re 40 you need this moisturiser; now you’re 50 you need this one’ and then wondered why even the mattest foundation/powder combinations didn’t hold back the oil. I finally realised it’s all about the skincare routine being suitable for an oily skin type. I’ve found mattifying/ balancing products and hydrating (rather than moisturising) ones to be best.
I’m always interested in knowing more about various procedures!
How can I reach out to you? I have lots of issues with water retention and weight gain. Things like Melatonin and 5-HTP make me retain even more water.
Thank you for all your great videos Dr Sam. I have been following you for years. Q: I had a cystic pimple for three years ago, which I squeezed and it all went to h***. Now, the area is completely fine, no redness BUT there is a lump where the cyst was. My skinnurse took a steril needle and popped it one year ago. There was bacteria coming out. But now the same pimple have returned. What is my solution here? Cortison injection?
Oh……the hot flushes and perspiration .
I turned 50 in January this year and was hit by the menopause bus. I would love to get off .
My regular pre menopausal foundation/make-up drips off my face when I get a flush even when I am putting it on. It’s embarrassing . My 4 boys thinks it’s hilarious .
I would love advice on make-up that will stay on my face during these times and last for most of the day. If any???
Also any advice please on the best treatments on how to treat my hormonal acne that has come for the ride. I never really used to get acne only during that time once a month. I have normal skin…
Thank you for you videos ❤️❤️❤️
Such a helpful video…..I have been using Emepelle since January 2020….it is simple to use and i have found it has made such a difference to the tone of my skin, which i was struggling with. Everything i tried before did nothing to alleviate the dryness and tired look of my skin. It is an investment but the upside is since using it i haven’t bought another skincare anti ageing product which has saved me money.
I was stunned to be recently diagnosed with vitamin D levels 10% of what they should be (in summer, in Western Australia); but I keep hearing contradictory views as to whether or not sunscreen blocks vit D absorption or does not. I’m 57 & I don’t leave the house without being coated head to toe The vit D drops are super easy though, so worth being sure.
Damn right I feel like I’m going crazy with extreme anxiety, depression, bouts of crying, went from 162 lbs to 175 lbs in less than a year, can’t sleep with my mind and heart racing! Oh yes, nausea on/off throughout the day, high stress causing achy muscles. I’M TERRIFIED! What’s worse is that I have no health insurance.
Thank you for a great video and the helpful advice you gave. I have to say though, that there’s a serious chronic supply shortage of HRT products in the UK and I, along with many other women are really struggling to get a supply, whether it’s patches, gel or tablet form. The British Menopause Society website has updates on when they estimate supplies will improve, but, sadly the world is facing COVID-19 right now. Stay well and safe xx
Hey mam…please help me…my face is 3 shade darker than my body..please help me how to achieve fair face like my body…please suggest any cream….
I am from india
Such a brilliant topic, thank you! After alot of research i decided to try HRT gel and progesterone pills. I have been on them for 4 months and have already seen a overall improvement in my dry skin. I have been on the Keto diet for 2 years and I find that it is an excellent option since all foods I eat are very low on the Glycemic index…thus helping with anti inflammation on my joints etc..
Any advice for excessive sweating? As soon as I put anything on my skin like moisturiser or sunscreen or actives it just sweats straight off. I can’t have HRT for medical reasons.
I have been in Peri menopause for 2 years now I’m 39. My quality of life is awful I have gained 65 pounds am constantly bloated tired brain fog night sweats and during the day. I feel like I’m 80 I barely sleep at night. Does anyone have any suggestions? I just want to feel like myself again. I had a hysterectomy 5 years ago but kept my right ovary due to stage 4 endometriosis. My ovary failed and put me in peri menopause. I have tried estrogen patches but the don’t react well with me. Was thinking about doing testosterone cream? Can anyone please help?
Thank you… Great topic, and so relevant to many of us. Pleas more info on procedures!!!
Research insulin…theres your answer! Intermittent fast and [email protected]
Not sure if it is a great transition. My hormones have me happy and sad calm and panicking all in the same hour. Meditation does help.
I feel like I’m dying of cancer.Lymph node swelling, mood swings, pre menstrual syndrome.I have anxiety & still have horrible heavy periods
I’m 53 and my doctor said I’m in the latter side of perimenopause. Doctor just told me to take estroven for nightsweats. Still get my period and awful night sweats. I went on lexapro to help with crippling anxiety. Helps so much ‼️
Thank you Doctor, very informative. Thank God I am feeling very well and normal, no hot flashes, sleeping well, feeling good in general.
Hubby and I just watched this together. He is so supportive. He said “Wow” as everything fits me. I started to cry. I am definitely going through perimenopause. Thank you for helping us.
Symptoms I have or had:
Hot flashes and Night sweatsat times so bad I had to stop working and sit for a minute at my job. Night timehaving the window open in 26F weather cause I can’t cool off.
Periodsdon’t have one for months then have one for days. Spotting for weeks.
Anxeitynever had attacks before. At times so bad you feel your heart is going to come out of your chest.
Jointssore as hell in the morning. I sometimes take pain relievers when it is really bad.
Weight GainHard to get the lbs off and I gained over 15 lbs. I weight lift heavy and do cardio 5 to 6 days a week1 1/2 to 2 hrs in the gym.
I even eat less now. It still is hard to lose. I have exercised my entire life.
She says exercise more? I can’t do more than I do plus work a physically demanding job for 9 to 12 hrs.
I know exercise does help and no caffeine. I quit caffeine 3 years ago.
My joints still hurt but not as bad. Still have my messed up periods. Hot flashes are mostly in the summer and when it’s too hot.
Still working on the weight.
Such a useful video; especially the supplements info. I turn 40 this year and have noticed changes to my hair.
Ive had a dry mouth for like 3 weeks ive tried everything nothing helps
Yes I’d love to know about procedure suitable for Menopause. I’m 55 and just got my first Botox and love the results. Would love to know more about what I could do the help restore some of the youth back into my face.
So… we have to go through puberty, which is hard, AND menopause, which is also hard? Aw, man. I’m going through puberty right now and do not want to have to deal with my body changing a lot again.
Black Cohosh for hot flashes. Works like a charm. Get it at Wal-Mart. You’re welcome!
I’m 47. I have missed my period for 2 months now. Negative pregnancy test. Sore chest, light headed at times. I have no idea. Advice
Does Clegenatur Methods really work? I see many people keep on speaking about Clegenatur Methods. But Im uncertain if it’s good enough to have bigger and firmer breast naturally.
When it when you finish menopausing is it a chance that you can get pregnant
Keep in mind, it’s not all doom and gloom. I went through menopause already and sailed through without ONE symptom. If your mom is still around, ask her what her experiences were, as these symptoms are highly hereditary from what I understand. Anyway, don’t just assume it’s going to be terribly difficult because it may not be! And by the way, not having your period is the best thing EVER! lol
Thanks to much for sharing
I feel really tired..bones pain.
It is very useful
I honestly feel so bad for woman that go through this. Like everything is off balance and as a person that’s experienced a parent going through this, it just makes your mood so off.
My doctor told me I was too young! I go from mad to depressed so quickly. I believe this is what is going on. I’m 40. I started night sweats and hot flashes and my period was 3 weeks late. I bleed after sex and sometimes spot between periods for no reason. It has not been a joy at all.
Useful information re supplements, I’m normally very anti them but maybe a multi vitamin type supplement could be useful thanks
Once you’re menopausal, you’re menopausal for the rest of your life. My goals to make the rest of your life the best of your life. I’m passionate about this topic, and. I started my treatment with Planet Ayurveda. I took “Menopause Care Pack” for an ayurvedic and natural solution to face problems in menopause.
My doctor basically said I just need to deal with it. Not cool. Peri menopause is miserable. I feel like I’m constantly pmsing. This is hell.
It is normal to gain weight in your 40’s or 50’s. You do not need to lose weight or cut calories. It is protective to have a little more weight as you age and your chances of surviving things such as a heart attack are better.
Other than the hot flashes, which were only really bad the first year, and my hair getting thinner, menopause has been kind to me. My mother and her sisters have aged well, and it appears I am too. Of course I have been taking good care of my skin and topped tanning in my early 30’s, and looking good requires a touch more work, but I really think a lot of how we age has to do with our genes.
Sex activities???? I haven’t had a orgasm in like a year sweetheart, I need to try a new shower head and a back massager on high speed frfr bc I need to have a orgasm
Brilliant video! If anyone wants solid scientific information on the menopause please check out Menopause Barbie on YouTube. She is a brilliant Gynecologist.
Can you make a video providing tips/advice for people suffering from skin diseases related to aging, such as eczema and hives? Can they be distinguished? Is it possible to ever “cure” them once they start?
hey I arrived late 2019 here ♀️ but very helpful video thank you
Thank you Dr Sam. I wonder could you possibly address the issue of sweating, the all day kind. I dread warmer weather and it makes any type of exercise really difficult, just when we need it most. Diet and supplements really help but not enough. A lot of women take endless showers and then have even dryer skin. Moisturiser and sunscreen lifts off.
Hot flashes and night sweats are driving me crazy, my Dr recommended soy milk ew and evening primrose oil caps, will try it for a month see if anything changes for the better.
It caused my parent’s divorce. I will never ever forgive them.
I feel like I’m going through this now. I’m 39, but dealing with severe anxiety and horrible night sweats. The sweats usually show up the week before my period and my period itself is getting all weird. I “start” a few days before I’m supposed to (so light that I don’t even have to wear anything), then it stops and starts full force within a few days of that initial “starting”. It’s so weird and I’m annoyed!
Thankyou for talking about this subject,I’m wondering wth is going on with me lol.In the it unfortunately comes down to money.Oh well
I’m 27. Was told that my period ends early due to how I was born. Hormones etc. Lack of oestrogen. They told me to go through IVF, however stated that it would still be difficult for it to work. That’s costly. And then they mentioned that they’d have to send the embryo (if they were to mix with the seeds of my future husband ) to a genetics unit, in case they want to remove any disabilities etc. That’s also costly. Also stated to have children due to “heart problems” or something. Meaning it could kill me?
I keep getting irregular periods, and they don’t look normal, “colour-wise”. Always have been extremely painful. The doctors told me to go through IVF A.S.A.P so I can store whatever eggs I have remaining.
Matrixyl or Sy-nake will do the same by the sound of it. Just put menopause on jar for marketing. No other scientific evidence as far as i can see.
I went to the drs to give me advice about it, as I feel I’m on the start of it….the Dr didn’t take on board my symptoms, instead she just thought I was low…. I have all the symptoms, but not the sweats as yet… Bit annoyed that the Dr I saw didn’t really listen to me!
Thank you so much Dr Sam for addressing skin issues during menopause . It’s nice to feel represented.
I need to know how can I tell that my periods are going to stop or get lighter. I am 52 and have periods closer. I am so tired!! I need to know the sighs that they will stop soon.
I have been told to have hysterectomy but I might be so close to end of periods. I am so confused as to what to do.
Great information. Now the question is how do you take all these supplements? All of them daily?
Great information! Off topic, but your makeup is flawless. Hi from Australia.
Good advice Dr.i went to see my doctor.but sadly I just got a lot of leaflets.very sad excuse as my doctor was just 32.she said it’s normal but when your looking for help that’s not helpful.i had more luck On youtube. So god bless you for your advice.
I’mm 45, my mom passed away last yr and I have no siblings so I have no one to talk to about this. Once in a while my period gets wonky but for the most part regular. one month it might be heavy another month normal. right now I’m on day 4 ofmy period and it’s still bright red when it’s normally almost gone, I’ve had this once or twice in the last year. I still have cramps too. I have small fibroids as well which was found 2 yrs ago & I had a whole round of testing at that time and everything else was normal. the net said it’s perimenopause. I don’t get night sweats, or mood swings, I do have insomnia. I have no clue what is wrong with me or what to expect. It sometimes scares me that something is wrong. It sounds like in perimenopause your period can go longer than normal? I have no clue what’s happening to my body & I wish my mom was here to tell me what’s going on or what to expect.
I was 35 when I was first told I was going through premature menopause, I’m now 45, and all of a sudden I am extreamly exhausted all the time, hot flashes day and night and wake up wet through in the morning. I wouldn’t say I’m moody but I am less patient than before. I was put on oral contraception when I was 35 as my GP said I was too young to go on HRT, thus help initially but now the exhaustion is debilitating I can’t stop sleeping. My hair as thinned so much and comes out when I brush it. Brain for is rediculas and doesn’t help with my psychology degree I feel like the menopause is ruining my life. Go advice me to go into HRT which I refused as I don’t do prescription medication but I can’t say I wasn’t tempted I’ve researched natural alternatives and have started on those 2 days ago. What I do notice is they help me sleep, so hopefully I’ll be feeling more rested in a few weeks time
How about letting women know there’s natural alternatives to these symptoms to ease a woman though peri menopause rather than suggesting medications? If a woman goes with complaints such as these, the doctor will send them to a psychiatrist for meds for mood after prescribing hormones etc…Don’t do it ladies! Please know there’s help and chemicals in medications are regulating your bodies into balance. All medications disrupt your physiology. Stop pushing the idea of pharmaceuticals as an answer to women’s health complaints and instead give them hope and health with out toxic meds
I can’t take hormones. I’m allergic to them. My organs shut down one by one. So there’s nothing I can do. Any non hormonal treatments available
While I am thankful for this info I’m not happy with my body!!
I went for shoulder pain
My doctor Said it was psychological
I’m 49 years young and since starting menopause recently, I wonder if my skincare routine is even working due to sudden bouts of sweating (thru-out the day/night) I often wake up during the night with a soaked face (and body). My concerns are whether or not I may be wasting my time and money on an expensive and lengthy routine where perhaps I should just stick to a minimum until the sweat episodes phase out. Could you please advise?? Much love as I am a newbie ♥️
To me moving on and finding Happiness has somewhat always been difficult for me! I Hope I get Happiness when I go through Menopause!
Thank you. Hope you have a great Christmas. See you soon. K this is me with my grandson 22 years ago.
Thanks for this, Dr Sam! So helpful. Glad to hear you mention both oral Nicotinamide and sleep-both have made a big difference in my skin! I only wish the Nicotinamide didn’t “brighten” my darker skin quite so much, but it’s worth it for the other (especially the anti-inflammatory) benefits.
I appreciate this post, thank you. It is hard to come by good information for menopause. I entered menopause in my late 40s after a radical hysterectomy and it was a shock, to say the least! Any information on supplements and skincare are truly appreciated as I have found a vast difference preand post-hysterectomy (does anyone else suffer from surges of hair growth on the face, neck and other regions? ). I have been supplementing with Omega-3s and Vitamin D for a year now, and they really help. So many, many thanks and I’d love to hear more!
Thank you so much for remembering the rest off the population going through the menopause. Please could you recommend some products and a routine. I am also Irish and have Sensitive Skin with Thread Veins on my Cheeks and Chin. Perhaps that’s why Ireland is so Green to hide the Redness off all us Leprechauns xx
Dear Sam, I didn’t quite get the prescribed product you suggested for eye brow growth. Can you please let me know what it is? Thanks Barbara
Found you through Dr. Dray. Watched your new sunscreen /foundation video first. Very helpful. I use Elta MD 41spf tinted sunscreen first. Then apply my IT cc cream spf50 Where I need more coverage. Works like a dream.
And since I’ve been using MORE sunscreen on my face properlly, my malasma has almost disappeared.
I was pleased to find I could go through this video like a check list. Since I turned 52, my skin has become very dry. I have been to a doc for thyroid test, Vit. D levels and others. I had very low vitamin D and am perri-menopausal. I take all these supplements except melatonin. I sleep fine.
I now look younger than I did in my 40’s. My skin is amazing. My skin care routine incorporates hyaluronic acid, ceramide rich products and a retinol. I also drink half my weight in ounces of water each day and make a smoothies full of antioxidant rich foods and vegan protein powder. My skin is amazing looking.
I see this lady doesn’t seem to answer comments Hmmm, the other dermatologists do such as Dr Davin Lim and Dr Dray (Suarez)
Thank you so much! Very useful topic. Especially the part abou supplements. There’s a lot if controversy whether we need them or not so this advice is very helpful.
One thing no one mentions is heart palpitations, I went to the ER 3 times thinking I was having a heart attack and everything normal after having many tests, symptoms of rapid heart rate, blood pressure rise, nausea, light headedness, anemia and loss of appetite. I would still recommend getting checked if you have these symptoms but my end result was perimenopausal symptoms along with uterine fibroids, I’m really going through it smh
Ah, thanks for this Dr Sam, really useful. Would love to hear more in future about supplements I wasn’t aware of the crucial difference that melatonin could make to skin quality!
Thanks for this brilliant video. Would you recommend any specific supplements that would cover/include all the vitamins you mentioned?
Love this video and topic! Great things to keep in mind, as I just turned 40 this past year. I have read a lot about niacinimide supplementation, as I had a basal cell carcinoma removed at age 29. I am now taking 500mg twice daily as a preventative measure for future skin cancers.
Yes please to the procedures that are best and where to find the Emapel.
Can aching legs be a part of peri menopause? I have spent most of my life with bad PMS symptoms which always included back pain, pubic bone cramping and aching legs. Now I am getting this AFTER my period ends. What is going on? I want to exercise and my bottom half feels so sore I don’t feel like moving. Adding to it I have anxiety issues (always have but feels more so these days) AND I want to put my fist through the face of anyone who so much as beeps at me on the road. I feel like I am in hell. What do I do first to try and deal with this???
Tks alot Dr Sam! In a next video, I would love a daily routine (with your faves) accordingly with these 4 steps! What is the best line up AM-PM for the molecules you talked about today?
But im losing weight, spotting for a week before periods. Horrible IBS during periods, no sleep. Foam or mucus type stool with farts. I feel like im worse than a bedridden patient. Lord help me im depressed n desperate
I’m only 18, why do I watch this? Bc it’s Dr Sam’s video of course! I love your skin care tips, Dr Sam! Hugs from Athens!
Once again, the Allopathic establishment has no real answers
Wow this was useful. Could you possibly give some idea (I know everyone’s different) of quantities we should be looking at with supplements? Thank you
Excellent! It’s very aggravating for those of us who have already been hit by the bus, as you said last time, to watch a video about menopausal skin only to discover that the only information supplied is about prevention in your 20’s. It’s a public service to supply helpful information for those of us whose incomes do not support procedures, or have other obligations.
A timely video (for me), turned 40 last year but have just entered a surgical menopause.
Well I have been sober 25 years I should watch my sodium and I exercise at least three times a week usually five times and strength train twice a week it doesn’t help me feel better but I continue to do it because it’s good for me!
I take all the supplements that you mentioned plus a good quality collagen. Thanks for the video!
Why do we women get all this issues while guys are just getting nothing really!!! Tell me again why women need men?? Oh yes, reproducing… Wonk wonk… lol
Walking is very calming and relaxing. It helps to reduce my anxiety and stress levels.
I am having hot flashes and cold chills also no perriod for over 12 months cheyanna Smith my wife age is 33 years old
Great video, very informative. I like it better when you say “get closer to your best skin day ever” (It may be silly but I feel more empowered when you say that xD)
Why isn’t it known as “WOmen-o-pause?” I protest! I want my money back!
Thank you…sounds great y I agree…luv your scarf..
Merry Christmas️
I have excised my whole life since I was sixteen. Now 58 I could walk ten miles and still wake up with menopause? I got some questions for you did you have children? Did you have a hysterectomy? And how bad was your menopause? How long were you in it? And what was your major complaint?
Hi Dr. Emma, thank you for this video. I would like to ask you, what do you recommend (cleanser, serum, or ingredient) to use to clean tiny little black heads on nose….? Thank you for your help.
So true… I love my walk… have you got a video on the fatigue ♥️ just want to wish you a Very Happy Christmas hope you have a good one

I’m 45 and I’m perimenopausal. I don’t have a lot of symptoms but the worse is irregular periods. I feel like I have pms for two to three months and then my period comes I feel normal again, 3 weeks later it all starts again. I might get lucky and my period will come in the next few weeks or it might be how long is a piece of string. Any advice you have on how to regulate my cycle, even a bit, would be appreciated. On a positive note, I don’t drink, use salt and I’ve just started a yoga teacher training course. Exercise wise I did stop thanks to a bus accident, I have a spinal condition and this flared it up and exercise was put off. I’ve started introducing little bits and I’m now doing a 35 min yoga practice every night and this is going to increase when I start my course. I’ve started doing the short workouts on your channel and they are ideal for me because of my condition. The weight will come off, I just need to be consistent and patient xx
Can you do a video about a condition called malassezia folliculitis aka fungal acne? I think is very often miss treated as acne even by dermatologists!!
Im a man and I totally appreciate the video…..hiiiiiiii coach Tanya.

Would you recommend Vitamin D with Calcium or a multivitamin to get zinc in too?
Sleep moderate exercise doesn’t have to be every day just stretch for 30 minutes a day. Go vegetarian stop eating meat. No carbs no sugar each of vegetables. Try intermittent fasting it works like a miracle small doses you got to start somewhere nothings going to happen overnight might take a couple months to get the intermittent fasting down if not longer.
