I connected to all of the parts of ocd you explained in this video. I never realized how severe it was, it is holding me back from really enjoying life. I spend way too much time worrying and not enough time being calm, I need to act to help improve my life.
I don’t understand by you sayimg “build more muscle.” Its either I can say build strength or grow more muscle mass. Other tips you have given us Im normally taking advice in. Instead of Intermittent fasting I have a Japanese dietary culture. So eating same or small portions 3 meals a day should be okay. Also doing a moderate intensity training and taking care of my calorie intake shouldn’t be difficult. The only thing I need is a adequete sleep.
Is it bad that I get intrusive thoughts every day that day do something random like hitting the light switch with my head or touching a door three times or my family will die? And I have a routine of things I have to do every day like checking certain rooms for burglars, taking different routes home or something bad will happen when I get home? Like I really want to tell someone about it but I feel like if I tell someone in person it’ll come true

i had intrusive thoughts for a week and then i was able to control them easier for 4 days. yesterday i suddenly began to worry about a thought i had because it felt like i liked that thought. i tried to fall asleep, but i kept waking up. and i was sweating a lot. i’ve also began to tell myself to shut up whenever i have a distressing intrusive thought and digging my nails into my hand to make them stop. but i began to worry because i kept impulsively doing them in response to other things that weren’t
distressing at all. i know that they’re thoughts and i don’t want them to become thoughts i enjoy but it’s really hard to tell myself that they’re intrusive thoughts and i doubt myself now. i tried to tell my mom like 5 times about them but she never understood and told me i wasn’t worrying about things that are “important” (like family related things) i don’t know what to do. i’ve gone on forums to see what other people experience but even those don’t make me feel better.

I had OCD for years and mine revolved around imagining things correctly, and often I couldn’t do it the way I wanted to, and it stopped me sleeping and that in turn made me tired and made the OCD worse etc etc. I absolutely urge anyone to sign up if you are suffering, it really works and I am proof. I used to spend all day and sometimes all night too due to it. Now I perform my compulsions msybe twice a day for a maximum of 5 minutes both times, meaning I perform them for an accumulated 10 minutes a day, and I only do them two as part of a continued ERP routine. To be honest the desire to even do them isn’t there anymore and I actually often FORGET to do them! Which I NEVER thought would happen! Accept the thoughts, and accept the anxiety, and DO NOT perform the compulsions. Flow with the anxiety, you can’t run away from it, it’s faster than you.

Can OCD thoughts convince you of things and make you feel things?? I think I have Pure OCD. I suffered from extreme health anxiety a while back. I went to the doctors a couple of times and even to the ER because I was flat out convinced I was dying. Now, I had broken up with my boyfriend because I felt like I fell out of love with him then suddenly I got hit with HOCD and a fear of being trans (NEVER had I ever been uncomfortable in my body or anything like that, or liked a woman). I’m scared of women now and feel anxiety with the thought of being around them because for some reason I feel like I am going to like them or that I already do. The trans thought has made me feel like I am not myself anymore and I just feel sick.
I’m scared I turned myself trans and suddenly giving into those thoughts makes me feel like its true which then makes me feel relieved?? But at the same time, it feels wrong
I also get intrusive thoughts but then I doubt if I am even mentally sick at all, like I am fine.
I don’t know what to do. I am signed up for BetterHelp but I fear my therapist won’t understant me

What about the f**king big crowds coming into grocery stores coughing and socializing and giving the cashiers dirty money??? What do we do about that??? Clearly people are not getting it. I hear a lot of people talking about the virus and they think it’s not a serious issue, what do we do about those people? How do we get it through their thick heads???
Every since cornavirus I been home and have not been out this had bored me too the point where I have my ocd again and makes me worry about everything I would always repeat something over and over but when I was outside a lot hanging out with friends being at school this block my ocd this blocked my intrusive thoughts and action so it really about what you do on a day to day basis which blocks the thoughts because you are distracted by your friends and outside that makes me not think about anything
I think I have an undiagnosed OCD or anxiety disorder. The problem is I can’t stop thinking about things, until someone tells me to relax. The thoughts go away for a while but than in a few days or weeks come back. Smh

My OCD recently got to a point where I had very real and debilitating gastroesophagic problems, I had serious reflux, stomachaches, couldn’t swallow easily, throat ache and ear pain because of reflux, etc…. This lasted for months. they did all test possible and nothing and medicine didn’t help, I was on the strongest doses for reflux and still didn’t help, Until I got started on treating the OCD with medication directed for gastric somatization. I’ve had OCD most of my life, but never experienced symptoms like this before, but the amount of stress the COVID pandemic added on top of my daily struggles pushed me to an edge. Sometimes the anxiety is such a common part of your life that your brain just takes it as the norm and sees it as no reason to alarm, at least for me, I didnt know I was this stressed out until it showed in my body.

I don’t know what to do, ocd is taking over my life. I am going crazy with all these thoughts. For example: If I don’t double tap my phone 8 times someone will hack my social media and post bad things. I don’t know what to do, it’s ruining my life, everybody thinks i’m weird. It took me about10 minutes just to write this small paragraph because of those thoughts. I don’t know what to do.
I can relate many things to me. not all but many. It took me 10 years to get rid of ocd. Failed 4 times in highschool due to time waste by ocd and reading one line 8 times. And now I laugh on it what the heck i was doing.
Jeff Nippard mentioned a study showing that advanced lifters have a muscle protein synthesis cycle of around 24 hours instead of 72 hours. As far as the morning/afternoon training goes; is there any studies looking at whether rhythms change, to say switch a night owl to a morning person if they train consistently for years in the morning? Also, you talked about recovery for muscles, but does that recovery need to be at rest, or can you be working out a different body part at that time between sets; say going from back to legs and back again? On another note, on some advice from Jeff Nippard I lift weights in the morning and swim in the evening for cardio, as he recommended at least 6 hours between resistance training and cardio to maximize muscle growth, based off the studies he quotes.

You just cant control of your ownself. Like some entity taking control over your mind. Make you feel miserable if you dont clean the house repeatedly or didnt arrange items in the house accordingly.

This is great information. But what about if the thought arises from something you did.
For example. Today out of panic of trying to dispose a screw I found on the ground. Without really thinking I threw the screw over my balcony. I don’t have any access to get down the balcony and find this screw. Since I did that I’ve had horrible thoughts of what if over time someone steps on the nail and really hurts themselves all because of me.
The biggest concern for me is how heightened my flight or fight gets when I have these thoughts and how strong the anxiety attacks come on.
They can be so bad I do things I regret later. Like getting angry at people, slamming doors, losing sleep, feeling the blood flow from my brain leaving because it’s preparing to fight.
I’m so scared
On Sunday I had an intrusive thought. And I was thinking about hurting my mom and just yelling at her. Just the thought was just intense that it brought me shame and guilt, that I started crying. Today is Thursday. And I’m still having some thought, but it’s not as strong. But it keeps coming back “Do It” “ or plan it”. And I’m scared by it, I really am. Because it’s as if my mind is overriding and it’s planning. And I wouldn’t dare do any harm to my family because I love them. I’m scared as shit for thinking like this.
Great video! My personal favorite is macro shifting (eating only veggies & protein before eating out). I also find myself borrowing calories naturally by reducing calories after a big meal out just because, naturally, I’m not as hungry the following day. Some other options I use:
Pregame the meal out with veggies so I’m not starving when I get to the restaurant.
Scout the restaurant’s menu online and decide what I’m gonna eat before I get there.
Select the restaurant myself, if possible. Best choices I’ve found are buffets with a salad bar, a solid protein / meat option, and hopefully some fruits for dessert.
If it’s a special event like my birthday, no worries cause it’s my birthday.
Limit “special events” to truly special events, not “It’s Friday I worked hard this week let’s pig out.”
You must accept these thoughts what you resists persists if you accept them they will stop coming as you will not react to them just breathe when they come stay strong brothers:)

(Edit I agree most vegans/vegetarians are not healthy eating all the processed chemical fake GMO FOODS) I’m a percent plant based! I don’t eat impossible burger or any of that. I eat some Fermented none GMO, organic soybeans like tempeh every now and then tofu none GMO organic! Sometimes seitan none GMO ORGANIC, but if you have problems with Wheat gluten I wouldn’t eat that! I eat allot of beans and spinach and watercress as we’ll plant based diet isn’t that hard. I only drink water, tea and coconut water. I’m 5’10 160 pounds I’m cut up and very fit! Just got a Physical Wednesday and my heart is strong and steady like a athlete she said! Blood press was like 76 over 120 and my urine was healthy af the sugar, protein, and blood! Plant based diet for health isn’t deficient. I also eat seamoss and maca powder and dates allot as well. I workout at the park most the times shirtless ppl come to me all the time to ask for advice to build chest abs etc it ask if I’m a personal trainer. I also fast as well only eat like 8 hours of the day. But with any diet it’s about your habits and what foods you choice to put in the body. (Edit) Tofu is a good source of protein and contains all nine essential amino acids. It is also a valuable plant source of iron and calcium and the minerals manganese and phosphorous. In addition to this, it also contains magnesium, copper, zinc and vitamin B1. (2)Tempeh is a soy-based food, and it has vitamin is a complete source of protein. That means it has all nine of the essential amino acids your body need for healthy bones and muscles. (3) quinoa is a complete protein, meaning that it contains all nine essential amino acids that our bodies cannot make on their own. (4) seitan only has eight of those nine essential amino acids but you get the point! Their are many plant based options to get these. Some you might have to eat just a little more, but most plant based foods are lower in calories. You can eat buckwheat any many more plants. I watched a documentary about Columbine and I’m sure that it triggered my Harm OCD bcuz now I ask myself “what if I do that?” or “do I want to do that?” Literally a week ago I picked up a NERF gun and created a scenario in my mind where I was holding someone at gunpoint. I told myself “if I pull the trigger on the NERF gun, then that means that I would do something like that, and if I don’t pull the trigger on the nerf gun that means that i wouldn’t and don’t want to do anything like that.” I just wanna know if anyone else plays scenarios in their mind to check and see if they would make the wrong choice in those scenarios
P.S. I would never and will never want to kill anyone, especially never innocent ppl but these thoughts are so terrible and wrong. My mind is betraying me

Totally controlling! That’s me. I get angry when I see cups, dishes stuff not done as fast as need it be or the way I want it to be. And I’m aware that I am doing wrong after the fact but not during. I can’t shut it off. So many crazy negative thoughts… that I hate it. This is why I’m not able to sleep at night because my brain is constantly working, it doesn’t know how to shut off. And with the Pandemicit has made me worse. I’m constantly thinking. I know this is totally from my childhood. The way I was bought up with verbal and physical abuse.
Hi john i wanted to clarify this, so i was being assaulted my a relative, i’ve suffered from this ocd thing, sometimes i blame myself about what happen its like someone controlling my brain saying oh you like the kiss, you like what happened, its like i have no memory of tht all i know that i said “no” when i was sexual assaulted but why did my body react differently to it, my problem is why do i think so much that that sometimes i think myself as a liar but actually not its just like something is controlling my brain
I feel like I’m never going to get rid of OCD permanently. It all started when I was around 11 or so. I had many intrusive thoughts, and some of them made me develop terrible fears. After that, my life became hell and repetitions started. At first, it was bearable, but after a few weeks, I started to repeat almost 24/7. People started to think I was crazy. My mother then helped me by taking me to a doctor, and I recovered with the help of medication and therapy. I was finally happy again, and it lasted until I became 21 years old. I got into a problematic relationship, and eventually it caused depression, anxiety, and many other problems. 3 years later, I started another therapy, and it lasted for 2 years. It helped, but depression is still here, and new intrusive thoughts appeared. I’m 26 years old now, and I’m really tired of this disease. My friends as a kid are all grown ups now, and I envy them… They struggle about real things, while I struggle about illusions my brain makes. Life’s so unfair…
If you eat more calories today and, for example, in the next 3 days you eat less calories in a way that you get the same weekly amount, will not the excess of today be stored as fat? Are we burning the fat produced today in these 3 days?

I deal with all of these. I never can get out of my head. My worst thing that i do over and over again would probably be counting things. When I see two or more things i count them, and then i count them more and more until i am so stressed i get anxious and depressed. Then i think all these negative thoughts and i just stay home and do nothing.

I’m 99.9% sure i have Pure OCD. It switches themes, from fear of being homosexual, fear of not being a Christian, to fears that I’ll lose control and become psychopathic and hurt people, or even worse. Now understand me when I say this: I would never and will never want to be or do any of these things, never at all in my life. But my question/concern is: “Am I making myself think these negative thoughts or are these thoughts just involuntary?” Because I have this doubt that I’m making myself think these thoughts. I sometimes when i click on a website i open and close it even number of times and then start reading it….and if I move forward i have to go back 3 steps…or if I scratch my head one side i have to it on the other side too…and then my elbows to and then again repeat the cycle until the anxiety is gone….or jump 10 times before sitting…and sometimes these random thoughts that I might harm someone infact i am the complete opposite in my real-life…however i have tried to fight it by not giving in too the anxiety and resisting it and telling myself that i should not give a fuck to the negative thought that come in my mind for not doing the pattern…and this attitude has helped me a lot although sometimes i still give in to it..but it has reduced a lot.
I have intrusive thoughts about almost for 2 years now and the biggest problem is that i dont know how to trigger them. I cant find the place or something to trigger my thoughts and the next thing is, when i train or when im at the warm place my anxiety is constantly high. Idk why? Any recommendation?
Does anyone know what I can do to stop taking pages on pages of repeated notes and reminders everyday for unnecessary things like “drink water”? I’m stuck and even my therapist can’t help, I’m scared to start medication.

I constantly be washing my hands with soap and stay at home for most of the day and if i touch something i think that my hands are dirty. Sometimes i wash my hands about 50 times. I’ve had OCD, especially intrusive thoughts of harming people when I never would want to for YEARS; I’m not a violent person and have never been in a physical fight or anything like that my whole life. I went to the doctors and was told I have mild OCD, anxiety and depression but I feel like it’s much more since I have really bad thoughts. I’ve thought about just ending it when it gets really bad like tonight, then the possibility of me acting on these thoughts one day are gone but I really don’t want to die either…I want no-one to die and I’m 20 years old. Getting help is hard:( and getting accurate help is even harder. It’s currently 5am and I haven’t slept yet due to fear of hurting someone because at my core I’m the complete opposite and never would. I would go to therapy but I’m scared something would happen to me because of my intrusive thoughts, maybe they’d think I was dangerous or crazy? I’d NEVER talk to anyone I know personally about my intrusive thoughts because they’d become scared of me. Reading comments like mine under this video has made me feel less guilty and threatened with my thoughts though. No one I know has OCD and whenever anyone talks about it it’s the cleaning kind which I personally don’t experience, mine are just the very scary thoughts of harming people but also thoughts like if I don’t wash my face 5 times or someone I love will be hurt. There’s even been times I’ve been washing my hands or dishes and my brain will tell me to hold my hand under the hot water for a certain number pf seconds (my go to numbers are normally multiples of 2 or 5) my sister has anxiety and panic attack episodes that my family find hard to ignore and are always aware of but when it comes to me, I’m quite quiet and they think my mental health is fine since my battle is my thoughts and actions I can hide. As for where I think my OCD came from I grew up in a very traumatic household with abuse, moving around to hide from it a lot, my dad cheating and even being kidnapped by him once then divorce when child services finally got involved. Childhood definitely does affect who we become. Thank you for making these videos, you’re giving us information and a community.

9:14m paused. I just have to blurt before I forget in case you switch topics. I take my morning minerals & coffee as you’ve prescribed, then I do a Primer Workout including cardio & plyo HIIT with antagonists, sprints & abs included, 20-30m. Any sport related stimulus I need focus on I include. 2-3hr after I’ve eaten later I get my synergistic muscle workout, it’s taxing grand slam meant for strength & power. In reference to the energy Substrate Replenishment between set, you’re looking at Oxidative, ATP & Glycogenic. Replenishment peaks at 5m for maximal set output. The time emphasis to not rest longer from there is the performance costs from loss of warmth readiness, total conditioning & maximizing total workout volume within time frame parameters. On the other spectrum, reduced rest times periods may not produce the same muscular gains, but you’ll gain in overall workout volume (total number sets) & conditioning that christens the polish of a physique. My personal opinion: on each days single most important exercise of a programs core such as Flat Bench, give yourself some rest leeway, then pick up the tempo for the rest of the program by reducing rest periods, perhaps circuit a little if you desire by times demand. You might find the weight jumps your looking for.? Once you sense a plateau with that, begin to shorten your rest periods with the same amount of weight. If you experience any negative immune responses back off intensities while being aware to prevent injuries which occur randomly in unknown weakened states, but don’t let your mind psyche you into being a pussy. It happens to the best of us! Every 2-3-4wks your programs should change stimulus for greater adaptations, like bars to dumbbell free weights for instance.
Oh, & lately I’ve been experimenting with a single set of pull ups &or push ups with every cardio session. That includes the post meal 10m. Nothing big just keeping the blood moving in the off time. It may produce &or maintain me.

I like his concept on only eating fat and protein before a workout, every time I eat carbs before a workout I feel lazy and have less energy. I’m definitely going to implement that strategy ASAP.

I had OCD from around age 16 making sure everything was turned off in my home when I leave because of the fear of a fire starting and the animals I own burning to death because of actions I didn’t take to protect them. Recently I’ve developed pure o and have been having the most disturbing instrusive thoughts. Thoughts that went against my morals and made me feel depressed and eventually caused a mental breakdown. I’ve been meditating recently and learning to not believe every thought that occurs in my mind and only choose thoughts that empower me. Once you start living in the present moment life becomes alot clearer.

But I hope people eventually become aware that there are reasons to train with more intensity (strength or performance with high lactate thresholds) or with lower rest times (same as high intensity performance mentioned earlier).
I’ve had people come to me and say, “Why you training like that? There’s no benefit to resting that quickly” and when I’m going heavy “You’re resting too long”. They don’t understand training for performance. But of course, this video is about growing muscle size. Awesome video regardless!

Then a thought pops into my head saying “what if your boy?” And from there i’ve has non stop anxiety and it’s made me fear i’m a man. These non stopping thoughts feel extremely real. I think I might have OCD about a year ago I started feeling like I had to touch things or step in specific places or something very bad might happen I also think things I don’t want to think this was the first time I didn’t know something was wrong with me I thought I was a freak I think it might be getting worse because it’s just a everyday thing I don’t even think about it anymore and judging from this video I think I might have it.

You talk a lot about having high cortisol levels and the dangers that may represent. However what if you’re in a situation where you have very very low cortisol. This has been a diagnosis for boyfriend. We are doing everything possible that we know and working with his endrocrinologist. However the prescribed medication is prednisone. And after doing a lot of research and unfortunately having some major health issues with taking the prednisone we want……need to stop the Prednisone. Are there any suggestions or ideas that you can make that would increase my cortisol levels and allow him to get off the prednisone which unfortunately he has been on now for a couple of years Thank you so much.

I’ve recently been struggling with intrusive thoughts like really bad and horrible one’s like my brain will tell me things im not over and over and over again. They’re mostly sextual like I get scared im gonna rape someone or maybe kill someone but I would NEVER do ANYTHING like that im only 13 years old and NOT a sextual person I don’t know why my brain does this. It’s led to me becoming really depressed and sad and I hate myself so much right now. I can’t even look my family members in the face and I avoid going around them sometimes because I feel so horrible and gross. I hate I how I think like this and I can’t stop it. Then I get other horrible thoughts like suicidal thoughts. I would think of a bunch of ways I would kill myself they’ve recently been getting worse and worse and I don’t know what to do. Sometimes I get scared im gonna sleep walk and kill my family or something. And one time when I was holding a hammer I had the urge to kill my mom with it but I love her and I would NEVER EVER do that. I don’t really have compulsions but I get the thoughts. Like maybe if im showering and ill tell myself “if you dont touch the shampoo bottle ill sell my soul to the devil” (im religous lol) but im usally able to tell myself no but the thoughts keep coming back and its getting worse i never do the stuff my brain tells me to do because I didn’t want it to turn into a habit but they keep coming back. I also struggle with paranoia like bad. One time i convinced myself i had a parasite??? And about 2 years ago i got lice but we easly got rid of it but i got BAD paranoia from it. Like i couldnt be touched by ANYONE i couldnt even hug my mom and sometimes i would pluck out my hair checking for it till my scalp burned. I couldn’t sit on couches or anything it was torture AND MY HEAD WASNT EVEN ITCHY I WOULD THINK ABOUT IT TO THE POINT WHERE IT DID GET ITCHY. I got over it tho but the paranoia is still there a lil bit. My brain also trys to tell me that i have fetishes about GROSS THINGS WHEN I DEFINITLY DONT LIKE WHAT IM TOO YOUNG TO THINK ABOUT THAT STUFF but my brain will tell me it over and over and over again and i feel so horrible and disgusting and i hate living and i just wanna disappear. I hate my life i just wanna be a normal little girl like why does this have to happen to me. It hurts so badly and i dont know what to do. i just wanna be happy. Also im sorry if this is TMI I’ve never told anyone about it because it’s so embarrassing I just wanna know if theres anything i can do it stop it… I just wanna be happy
I’ve spoken to parents and it’s got easier more recently but I worry that what if I’m the past I sexual assaulted or r** my younger cousin. I recently went through terrible trauma and have noticed the development of these obsessive thoughts (first intrusive thoughts) in my mind. Initially, I wanted to admit myself to a hospital or somethingI thought I was an awful human being for even considering harming someone I care about, even if I would never on my life go through with it. Then, with the help of videos like these, I started to regain a level of control and comfort over my reactions to these thoughts that I cannot control. Thank you for broaching this topic, and to anyone reading, YOU ARE NOT CRAZY! You are simply going through a period of difficulty and it WILL GET BETTER! Sending all the love your way!!

Hey, would you check out comparing discrete changes in weight for overloading vs continuous changes in weight (big vs small jumps in weight used). Ex for squats: instead of bumping by 10lbs every week, you would be staying with a weight for 2 weeks, then bumping it by 30 and keeping it that way until you can complete all your sets without drop-off for 2 weeks, and then doing that again (strength training principle). Is it as effective for hypertrophy as it is for strength training?

Great video. Two things. I think people will get confused by the advice to eat lots of small meals combined with IF. I find that when I do IF it’s easier to just have two or even one meal a day. Eating 3 or 4 small meals in a 6 hour window would make me ravenous and I wouldn’t be able to stop eating. Second, people are NOT going to be able to do IF with berries, rice cakes and broccoli as shown in your video. They are going to need meat and healthy fats (coconut, tallow, grassfed butter, quality olive oil, etc).

5 days split is not a good idea then?I still much prefer 5 days a week because i can see the progress of my strength and create a new workout program for me.I ❤️ the part you covered on each person has a different body clock.I had tried morning,afternoon,late evening and night.Morning is the most suitable for me because i can feel the post energy throughout the day.Night is good too but i have to train night time harder because training during the night does disturb the sleeping paterns.F**king awesome video man.Give this man a ️ for all of the knowledge he has shared with all of us.

I think I’m definitely a morning person, I used to do my workouts before bed so I can just chug a protein shake then sleep (I thought the healing process was faster… and it seemed like it).
But after the years I started waking up more naturally during the morning and started getting sleepier in the afternoon. And could only work out in the mornings since I was too drained by the afternoon to do anything intensive lol.. Even during day offs I find myself taking naps as soon as it hits afternoons (despite not doing anything).
Found out about the different types of people (morning, night and all the in between and varieties), and changed my workout as eating schedule based on that. Works great!
Why do many men have a thick belly when they are otherwise rather lean? I´m glad that this isn´t very pronounced in my case, but my body rather loses muscles than gets rid of the little fat over my belly and that´s very annoying…
Also, is it true that a fat belly is worse than having the fat equally distributed (or as a woman in her assets) from a health standpoint?

Hi Thomas! I’ve been doing water-fast for almost 5 days. Today I’m feeling a bit vulnerable and I smelled, licked and chewed some spicy sauce made with chilli flakes and oil (probably with sugar and other junk inside) without swallowing it just spilled them out but probably a tiny bit trace amount went into my system. Thomas DeLauer I thought you weren’t a big fan of Leucine. In a lot of your videos you say don’t use BCAA’s because the Leucine will spike your insulin, and that all it does is just hang around in the blood causing your insulin to spike. Which one is it?♂️

ik that I’ve commented here multiple times and I’m sorry, but i have a question: Is it normal to do mental reassurance compulsions habitually even if you are not thinking about an obsession or something that triggers my anxiety, because i repeat phrases to myself even when I’m not thinking about what triggers my ocd. I say phrases such as, for example, “I would never and will never do that.” or “I would never want to do that and I will never want to do that.” Is that common or is that considered talking to yourself?

I’m 42, training with 1-2min rest periods for the past 27 years. Tried this 3-5min rest periods thing and definitely didn’t work for me! Guess If you’re too adjusted to a training style the body doesn’t like change.

constantly criticising tedious details about your field is really annoying. everyone does it to some extent. it can make you sound like a revolutionary thinker. but once the listener notices it, it just becomes annoying. it also trivialises real problems your field might have. very annoying. examples include: norman wildberger, the taubman approach, most piano teachers on youtube, and most karate teachers.
So to maximize your rest period while working antagonist body parts you could alternate your sets correct? 1 set of chest, 1 min rest, 1 set of back, 1 min rest, 1 set of chest again would probably put you around 3 minutes between sets. I do a lot of eccentric exercises to maximize time under contraction so I can easily make 10 reps of chest last a minute.

Thomas! ❤ Big fan here! I have learned sooo much from your videos, and it helped me in more ways than i can explain. Nutrition is an exciting new hobby of mine, but building muscle has been my #1 hobby since i was 16. (now 21) After years of searching on how to get the most hypertrophy as possible, i eventually came to the conclusion that it is a matter of targeting the muscle as extreme as possible. (In a injury safe way) Basicly just target the muscles litteraly like your life depends on it, giving your body no other option but to adapt and grow. When the burning starts, thats where the real gains are being made (at least i believe so) I came to this when i started listening to guys like Dorian Yates, Tom Platz, King Ronnie Coleman. For example: Tom Platz in the bodybuilding comm. is well known for having the best & biggest legs ever. (No discussion) Guess what, he trained those 2 monsters only once in 2 weeks.. While the normal bodybuilder trains them twice in 1 week.. crazy right. The same goes for the other mentioned names + more who were only focusing on how far they could push their body to the absolute limit and beyond. I always take your knowledge very serious, so for me this science info is quite unpleasing, it saids the opposite of my view on it, and ofcourse i just want the right answer to this subject. Does it maybe have to do with these guys taking steroids and already having high hormone levels? and ‘we’ as naturals need the regular lifting for extra hormones? In that case it makes a lot of sense. It would truly be a blessing i you’d gave an reaction! Even a very short one. only my Muslim friends know that we do 16-18 hour fasts 1 whole month a year and today is probably the last fast of the year and I have been fasting for 29 straight days but i didn’t lose weight as I have stopped cycling but my weight didn’t increase so I see this as an absolute win

@Calisthenicmovement Hello Alex, I was a very active person. And was able to build a lot of muscle easily once I incorporated intense training. Losing weight was also quite easy for me when I changed my diet and continued exercising +HIIT. My height is 184cm and I had around 80kg fat free mass at that time. However, 1.5 year ago I had a very stressful time during my MSc and developed an autoimmune hypothyroid disease. Although with the help of my doctor, I supplement back my thyroid hormone levels, I have gained like 20 kg of fat during that period. In my current hypothyroid condition, it is impossible for me to do the heavy exercises I did before. My body simply can not handle the metabolic stress. I can only do 1/3 of my previous exercise plans and eat 1/2 of the calories I was previously eating. I still can not lose any weight. At least I stoped gaining more weight.
But I was wondering if you have any suggestions or any plans specifically designed for people like me (hypothyroid disease). Although I am a PhD student in molecular mechanisms of diseases, I really feel like I need some help with my current problem. Please reply if there is anything you can do or suggest.

This video made me feel so much better about some things that I experience in my daily life. I was diagnosed with OCD when I was 8 (almost 12 years ago), and although I had a good idea of what having OCD entails, I had no idea that some of my seemingly random (and infuriating) habits could possibly be caused by my OCD. When he said that some people with OCD can be very controlling of other people close to them because they need things to be a certain way, it clicked for me. I feel like I am constantly unsatisfied with the way my partner carries out certain tasks like cleaning, organizing, remembering to do things, etc. I always have to ask him if he did something a certain way if he remembered to do something, or I just end up doing the task for him or redoing it to avoid the anxiety it brings. This makes him feel upset and makes me feel upset too because I cannot help that I need things done a certain way and he feels like when he does things “it’s not good enough”. I feel guilty a lot and lately, I just do things myself instead of asking him to do things. I never knew that this could possibly be because of my OCD.

When I know something is bad for me I start doing it more and on purpose, for example My friend told me that the more I frown the more wrinkles I get, I started getting sudden urges to frown on purpose and I can’t stop, I’ve been like that for 3 months. That’s facts what’s he saying about the vegan stuff, 90% of the vegan stuff has the laundry list of ingredients, and they’re terrible for you. I always see vegan stuff containing things like: “caramel color” (known carcinogen) “artificial flavors” (lab made) “carrageenan” (causes inflammation). There’s so many more as well, that’s just some that I am aware of but the list goes on and on.

i usually do my run in the morning while I’m fasting. I’ll usually run 8 or 10 mile’s while I’m fasting.

The time of day piece needs additional studies on other times morning, midday. Especially corresponding with each person’s chronotype.

from HIIT i know that i need minimum 3 minutes to recover before doing the next almost all-out interval. the same applies for muscle training. it is always about the mitochondria and keeping the cortisol in check. btw taking sodium bicarbonate is perfect before going to the limit, because you get a few extra seconds before your muscle “burns out” because of the acidity. but of course keeping a few reps in the tank to not allow the lactate build-up get too far might allow you to train more often. i guess it also depends on the individuals possibilities. with a gym at home you can easy cut away 30 minutes every day.

Was lean and fit. Did a lot of cardio & HIT and weights, ate clean but definitely not as clean as this cat. Had a back injury “herniated disk with nerve compression”, this horribly painful. Thank God, hernia healed. Still have some issues going on with disks “degenerative disk” so they say. “none of this was gym related”. I haven’t been back in the gym for over a year and miss it like crazy. Is there any workouts I can do while dealing with this condition for the moment? Thank you and keep up the great work
